Hey guys I thought it would be interesting to start a poll to find out what are the android versions that people are using on our 2+years old HTC Desire.
For me, I'm running ics.. what about you guys???

Most are using Gingerbread. Some are on ICS. Any user who is still on Froyo at this point probably doesn't have any idea about rooting and or XDA or just wanna be left alone in the past.
No need for a poll or a thread really.

Ye.
Best rom thread with a flavor twist.
I'm on ICS now (miui v4)
MIUI 2.3 working perfectly
ICS too ! With the rom of dk_zero-cool.
Everything runs fast on my old device
would be interesting who is still on 2.1
I think that was the shipping version, right?
Still using xj miui 2.3
Currently on off GB, downloading runnymede's sense 3.5 rom

I'm on Miui ICS... !!! Best ROM ever
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA
I'm using ICS from DK_Zero-Cool (v3.3u1). Most stable one i've experienced until now
MIUI XJ since New year, probably will try with some Sense ROM soon
I'm still using CM7.2 RC1. Very stable and fast.
Could anyone explain to me why everybody is so hyped about ICS? I mean I appreciate what the devs of ICS ROMs do and it's great that they make ICS possible on our old Desires.
I tried Sandvold's ROM and BCM. They're quite good and making good progess, but I always came back to CM7.
I actually don't see a point in switching to ICS (yet) unless you like flashing and testing new ROMs, because CyanogenMod 7 and other 2.3 ROMs seem more stable and faster and they have all the features ICS offers.
Is it the looks of ICS or just that it's new and you want to test it?
I'll probably switch over eventually, but at the moment I'm just curious what you like about ICS.

Have you or anybody else tried this? Apart from the camera, is this ROM good for daily usage yet?
Some people said they are using it as daily ROM, i havent tried it yet.
I got a theme for cm7 but its a 3d one that I got from 4shared its great I love it but I wanted one with more features if u guys know wat I mean
Sent from my HTC Desire CDMA using XDA App
I tried it about two days. You could use it daily. (SMS, calling, alarm... works).
Cheers. Would you see it as an "upgrade" to the likes of MIUI-XJ rom?
This thread is a sad example of why xda went into sewers this year.
You keep it coming, guys. I know you can buried it even deeper.
i used it until today, but now there is another one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416641&page=1
I had it flashed also, it works well daily but i switched back to CM7 due to not having the camera Function.
Hopefully soon everything will be working

Hi
I am new to rooting to my phone and would like to know if any roms that supports traditional Chinese and Korean?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I guess that the MIUI ROMS support that...considering they are made by devs who are originated in china and all.
You can find the version for our phone in their site here
Hope it helps.
Edit: I don't know if it supports korean. Also MIUI is fairly heavy on the phone. If I find myself some time and no-one has already replied, I might be able to look it up.
Thanks for the reply, is there a leedroid Rom for the HTC Desire Z?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I'm not aware of Leedroid for Desire Z. However, if you do not require a chinese UI, only the ability to read and write Chinese, then any ROM will have this ability.
For input you may need to supplement it with the likes of multilang keyboard for chinese input, if you choose to go with a non-sense RoM. Many sense ROMs will have the HTC chinese input method intact.
If you are a Mandarin speaker I'd suggest Google PinYin method anyways since its one of the best, and supports both tradition and simplified chinese.
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
MIUI has been made by japanese third-party devs. also i like RCMIX3D 4.0 ROM. and i thought that it also supports chinese and japanese.android 2.3.5 sense 3.5 download: http://uploading.com/files/7c69c9c7/RCMix3D_v4.0.zip/
I am in favor of the MIUI..great interface, stable and great performance.
Just regarding about overclocking the processor, would some of the time include the application to do this? I don't really need the Chinese input. I would maybe go and try out a few different roms as I have just downgraded to 2.2 and rooted the phone.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
You might try Andromadus if you're looking for bleeding edge. So far, its the smoothest and most capable ice cream sandwich build available. You can find it under the desire z/g2 rom development section, and I'll edit this post to include a link later. Or if you prefer a more stable, established rom try CyanogenMod 7.1 from CyanogenMod.com. both will support Chinese among other default languages, and are both far more capable than the stock sense rom and both include OC as well. Hope this helps..

I would HIGHLY recommend Ice Cold Sandwich, the homescreen is actually smooth and seems to be running at 60 FPS. It also has HEAPS of tweaks because it's based on AOKP. Give it a shot if you really want ICS.
Well, if u know chinese, u can go to the bbs.gfan.com to have to look at their rom. Although most of them are originally from xda, they may give u some different experience. U should check it out

Unless youre sold on the UI of ICS id give one of the Sense 4 roms a spin (taz's for example) theyre actually stupidly stable and smooth!

I would definitely try the MIUI roms. They're great!
I think Sense 4.0 is a disappointment. Tried it on my Desire Z and it's not what I expected. The stock Android is much faster and better.
The MIUI ROM's absolutely don't work for me... Found them very laggy, but it does have some great functionalities.
I just use JIBwich, a stock Android ROM as it is on the Galaxy Nexus.

I would very strongly recomend the ILWT CM7 build (available under the development section). You will never want to move away. Atleast that has been the case with me, after trying sense and miui, I found home with this one.
Its fast, issue free, pretty optimized (although got further optimization you can use v6, akmo or rmp) and is pretty frequently updated (generally on every major CM build).
Been using it for almost a few months and can't even think of moving, not to any ICS either (personally, don't like the virtual keys always on screen on the ICS).
Hope it helps - cheers!

I flashed to that rom. I really miss how the the suggestions for the keyboard in ics. Im glad to back on a fully functional on-screen keyboard that doesn't lag. I was using the unofficial cyanogen mod 9. It had issues here and there. I kind of miss ics for its looks.

So my partners Blackberry has finally died & she's slightly pissed at me (I may have jumped for joy when she told me xD) Anyway she has asked if she can use my old phone (which I just use to play with know a days) which is this beautiful HTC Vision.
I'm trying to decided which Rom to go with as it will be her first ever Android device, I got her to play with a few different android devices from where I work & the only thing she said was "I don't like them HTC's, there complicated" ¬_¬
So I'm thinking of using a Stock android Rom but as i haven't kept up with the Vision ROM development (To busy playing with my Galaxy Nexus xD) I'm gonna ask the good people of XDA..
Which ROM have you found to be the most stable & best battery life?
Thanks in advance guys & girls ^_^
If she thinks they're complicated try miui.us
If she wants asop go glite
If she want more customization use a cm7 based rom - try ilwt
If she wants pretty sense ask someone else I don't use sense
Don't go ics

I've been running Andro Beta 2 since it was released, and Alphas 5-12. All were solid for me as a DD.
Personally I would install Virtuous 2.0 and then supercharge it.

Not for daily use for someone that wants a complete phone. No camcorder, glitches, camera glitches if you don't use stock app, no fm.
I use Andromadus and wouldn't ever change it with Gingerbread, but I wouldn't suggest it for a new user.
Go Miui!

I always thought Sense was simple and awesome. The second one that is...but yeah, you should go with MIUI, it won't get simpler than that.
Yeah, virtuous sense 2. Smooth but with sense to help break android to a newbie.

I would recommend either virtuous sense or the latest miui version.
Both are very easy to use and have no major glitches or bugs!

I concur with this, ILWT is the way to go for CM7 based rom.
For sense, last time when I was in my flashing mode, Virtuous Sense v2.0.0 was my daily driver. Until it couldn't keep up with me, then I switched to ILWT

I'm giving my old HTC Desire to my friend, but before I do I want to flash the best ROM for a laymen's use, in terms of stability, battery life and speed.
Personally, I have a Galaxy Nexus with JB and I love it - I think JB heralds a new era in which android finally shows that iOS is just hype and not god.
I've seen there are ROMs right the way up to Jelly Bean, which I find pretty amazing considering the age of the Desire handset - however, there must be quite a few issues to iron out, and I doubt that my friend, who will be more worried about his phone working than whether it's up to date with android, will appreciate these issues.
So which ROM would you recommend? Quick answers appreciated cause I need to give him the phone within two hours! Lol
Thanks for your help

I really enjoy Mr. mephisto and RSK team rom, the 3.5 sense is awsome and the AMAZE cam is.. well.. AMAZING.

It gives the old Desire a great new look!
and with the aroma installer is super customized.

It's beautiful and stable, but it's too heavy (read slow) even on fast sd. If you have to sell the phone, just install stock rom (with sense), or an aosp like cm7 or oxygen.
No man, install stock Oxygen rom , create partition ext4 for a2sd. And that is it. Rom is completely bug free, and it has bedt battery life. Speed is great, and no laggs at all !

Oxygen 2.3.2 + thalamus r4 kernel. Use Oxygen r2 hboot. If You need more space, with GParted make ext3 or ex4 partition.
I've found it best combination (almost one year using it). It's not full of widgets like Sense roms, but You can install Fancy Wigdets or Beautiful Widgets for clock and weather similar to Sense.
I put the last stable version of miui on my dads desire, and it runs perfectly so far. Using the 2.3.7 os which is pretty stable.idk about battery life tho

I have looked all over the desire forum and found not 1 sense 3.6 with ICS rom for our device. I think people are interested but i need to know facts do you want this rom ????
If i get enough people saying yes ill start a thread and port official ICS with sense 3.6 from desire s to our device.
i normally only dev for my own desire but when its stable ill release to xda user's. This will give us stable ICS but keeping the sense as we all love it to some degree. Let me know your thoughts on this by posting below or answering the poll thanks everyone.

cool ill get to work on it but obviously i wont release or open a thread untill its in alpha stage and it boots up and works call's/sms data ect. but this can be worked on more easy because sense 4 is very heavy on the cpu but sense 3.6 is not so it will be alot smoother than the sense 4 roms.
