Does the release of the Hero source code mean anything for us?

I was just wondering if this will mean if it will end up being easier for the cooks to port android to the TP2.

I'm not a Linux expert.. But I'm quite sure that this will be a great help for people who works on Android port for our TP2: They use the same CPU.. I do not know what other similarities there are in terms of hardware.. But I think it's a great thing.

Buying Android - "upgrading" to WinMo

Hi,
as I've grown to HATE HTC and their products now, I was thinking about getting an android phone with the specs to run Win Phone 7 when it's released, but...How would wiping this and replacing the OS work? Anyone got any thoughts?

What the... WP7S isn't anywhere near a beta or leaked or anything and you're asking a question like that?
Come on man... Think about it... How could anyone know the answer? Very silly question. There is no information on anything to do with any aspect of installing WP7S and you want to know how to put it on an Android phone? Have you seen how hard people are working and how unbelievably hard Android is to get working on a WindowsMobile device? Obviously not otherwise you wouldn't be asking the above.
Tsk tsk. Sorry for the shoot down but this is a but of a waste of a thread dude.
EDIT: I find it humorous that you say you HATE HTC yet they are the only ones with an Android handset with enough power to meet WP7S's minimum specs haha.

if you want HD2 for only reason to upgrade to WP7 then I'd suggest to wait until it's available (maybe other WP7 are available earlier, or HD2 doesn't get an update)

wait.. you want to buy and android phone and then 'upgrade' to wp7? Just get the android phone, and then sell it when wp7 hits.

I think development for the Diamond is all but dead now

Diamond has the most ****ty OS ever conceived. There is little hope that someone will make and android version for the phone. I`m gonna get myself a new one as soon as possibile.

WinMo7 is a serious downgrade to Gingerbread. Why bother? It's like Android 1.5

yes it may be possible,but only a idiot would do. wp7 was dead before release,well i can just tell from germany,sales for wp7 phones are deeper than ever.
if you really want wp7 on your device, do it yourself!
noone will ever port an OS that is less powerful to an android device.
if you want to port yourseld you will run into some problems because wp7 is not opensources,so you will need to find a similar device, dump the rom and change binarys with hexeditor etc.etc.....
but for my interest,what do you like more on wp7 than android?

I know you want to change the whole operating system but there is launcher7 it is has the metro look you should try it

[Q] Porting Sailfish in AScend P6

Hello guys.
As some of you might have already heard, the sailfish 1.0 stable version is out and it is told that it will be ported in every android device. I know that the hardware is pretty different (K3V2 vs Snap 400) so I don't know if this is even possible. If anyone got any news, please share it with us.

Ok, that OS will not reach P6 soon, as he is reaching now for other phones, which are not on Android or iOS.

Why? Xiaomi mi2, galaxy s3 and some other chinese phones already got sailfish ported and it will soonly be released for everyone to port it. I don't think P6 is too far from sailfish os.

I'm expecting Sailfish OS to be relatively easy to port since it's able to use android's drivers for hardware. :victory:
