3 Dots on the right side is silver - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Guys my 3 dots on the right side of the phone is silver, not gold.
(My phone is GSM. And phone made in
Fabrique au Vietnam par Samsung)
what this might mean?
regards.

So your phone is made in Vietnam. Maybe upload a pic of the pogo pins that you say are silver? It would probably have no effect whatsoever, just that they tweaked the design a bit/used different parts...

They are called pogo pins, and when they make contact with a compatible accessory, they charge on contact. So far, Samsung hasn't really taken advantage of the technology, with the exception of a desktop dock, which only really saves you the trouble of inserting and removing a regular charger cable.

I can't post an outside link as a new member, but if you search for "galaxy nexus pogo dock," you should be able to find it in a lot of places, including Samsung's website.

Inductive Charging

Hi!
I'm a little noobish when it comes to this and android in general so I apologize in advance
But I was wondering if there are any inductive charging pads that would work with the galaxy nexus? I've got too many cables going on on my desk right now and it would be nice to have the drop and charge type of thing going on
Any help would be nice! Thanks!
Well the Nexus has pogo pins, so I'm waiting for a pogo dock to become available.
Alternatively you could probably mod your Nexus to work with a touchstone.

That looks a litttttttle complicated for a noob like me
Would powermat or qi pad be a good idea? or would they not even work?

Powermats are great, unfortunately unless your device is a popular one, they more than likely don't make a case for it, in which case you have to use the cube that comes with the powermat to charge your device.
I'm hoping that since the Galaxy nexus will soon launch on Verizon, Powermat will design a case for it that you can just drop onto the mat.
buy one of these and modify it, someone has done this with the samsung i9000

Yep, someone's even done it for the Galaxy Neuxs, check out [H] forum.

Actually looks fairly easy with the large pin solder points. Other phones require soldering to tiny pins.
With the battery cover design, I'd be afraid I'd rip the wiring off every time I pull it open.
LTE EX Galaxy Nexus CM9
Asus Transformer Revolver
I've got this, after a while i'm gonna try this inductive charging, with this spare part i won't have to worry about warranty.
you can see the white dot, one wire goes their, the other will just have to touch the usim card holder, this info is just a replica of one of the links with the i9000, it should be the same.
Galaxy Nexus has the dock pins. Two of three pins are used for power supply. I think is possible to tap into those with the inductive charging stuff.
I think I'll try the 12 dollars kit from ebay . it's just too tempting.

yeh, I know, i just dont want to mess around with the soldering of the original parts, if i do mess up, i can just discard the part in the photo.
Hrm.. rather than soldering, why not use conductive tape? That way it's completely reversible should you need warranty repair.
The contact terminals look large enough for a small square of tape to easily adhere to.

Where to buy pogo pins?

I havent seen a specific thread on this yet but here it goes, where are people getting pogo pins at? I dont think using guitar strings, screw etc are a good idea for the charging docks people are making. I know the pitch is 3.0mm ( if you go with a pod style, 3 pogos molded together ). But I dont know the depth the pins have to be pushed in at. None the less, where have people been getting their pins at?
wtf are pogo pins?
Want to enlighten me on what they are?
Look on the edge of your phone. You see those gold contacts? That is used for charging and I think also used for audio too. The pogo pins are a spring loaded contact that depresses when the phone is set on the contacts. Google pogo pins, hell look in our accessories section here to see a few examples.

It appears to have been removed but here is a news article on it:

I ordered these. It took a month to get here. I just got them yesterday & I haven't had time to rig them up yet - I got an extended battery, so now I have to redo my cradle before I hook up the pins.

SwapStyle Covers Pins

Hi,
I just received my swap style covers for my Oneplus Two.
They are slightly thicker than the Sandstone cover and they have two connectors on the back.
Does anyone know what this is for?

No clue hey I have also ordered the dark brown one out of the two which is better ??
The connectors could be for antenna or something
they only do something on hydrogen os rom not oxygen os
I read that the pins are suppose to trigger custom or different wallpapers that go along with the new swap cover, depending on which one you put on.
OK its only for the China market/H2OS.

Would have been great, if they had enabled the possibility of wireless charging .. just by replacing the cover.
Wishful thinking, I guess.

Perhaps a third party accessories takes advantage of those contacts, if it's even possible. Do we know if those contacts can even charge the battery? Everyone just assumes it can't but I'd like some proof that they can't be used to charge the battery.

I couldn't see why Oneplus themselves would refrain from releasing an addon swap cover that supports wireless charging if that's possible so it's probably not possible and is only used to give custom themes.

I'd say you're right but considering how Oneplus decided to opt out NFC. I wouldn't put anything passed them when it comes to doing things that make sense.

Personally, it made sense to me since I never really used NFC on my OPO and I don't plan on using Android Pay. They claimed very few of their users used NFC so I'm guessing I'm part of the majority which did not use NFC.
I've done a fair bit of hardware hacking. And while these pins aren't for charging, one could perhaps use the holes they protrude from and solder/wire them directly USB to QI charging card.
However, its an arduous task that I've only ever attempted on a microusb device (galaxy note n7000). It is also different per device as the flex cable / PCB design is different per device.
The next best alterative is to get a case with a qi charging card with a slim USB flex plug. But again they only make them for microusb
I suppose this is going off topic a bit, as mentioned above, the pins are for hydrogen OS theme changing . but food for thought.

To be honest, I'd be more interested to see if some third-party charger without a permanently attached cable is released.

Agreed.
Many people questioned Huawei behind the logic of this decision and they mentioned that it's much easier to lose the small charger puck without a cable so although it's true that the cable insertion point may break over long time use if you bend it every which way, that's not of course 100% guaranteed so in their eyes they'd rather risk that over entire loss.
Whether or not we agree is a different story of course but I'm sure someone can easily make a better third party charger if there's enough of a demand for it.

Yeah, I doubt it is anything advanced inside. I would personally have like a similar charging arrangement to the Moto 360 but I guess no product is perfect.
Gone again.

Or it could have a Type-C port for the hell of it. I would like a spare one with a non-fixed cable for traveling.
Pretty annoying that you still can't buy a second charger. I would really like two more...one for my travel bag, one for the bar in the kitchen and one for my bedroom. Also kind of annoyed that its more expensive than the somewhat similar Apple Watch charger(!) and is actually more primitive.
The Huawei charging cradle is now available at Google Store:
https://store.google.com/product/huawei_watch_charging_cradle
Got my extra charger today from the Googs. They ship it SmartPost , but it does eventually get there. It's packaged all fancy like the watch...same cloth textured cardboard, a little pull tab to pull out the inside, etc. Sorry, no pics.
Have any of you tried any of the third party charging cables on eBay?

Not what I'm after. A non-cabled unit would be much more portable, like my 360 had. I already carry multiple USB cables, so just the puck is all that is needed.

Call me crazy, but has anyone actually tried this charger on our smartwatches.. It looks an incredibly similar fit.
As a back up and spare etc, this could be a cheap option to carry around. These spurious ones even use micro usb.
If the pins are the same but location is slightly different I am sure I could modify.

Was it just a piece of double sided tape and a cap from a water bottle (dasani, evian, etc..)? Cause that's what I used.
Looks Awesome. But I would be afraid the charging pins would not line up.
