Q: How to Install Linux ? - HTC One X

Htc one x for the Linux operating system software installations do not have any documentation.
- Bootloader Unlock ?
- Recovery install ?
- Root install ?
- Custom roms, etc ... ?
How do we do them with a Linux operating system?
I have fastboot flasher program but she also just have no idea about how to do. I am very curious in this forum, only I'm using linux?

all i know is that i used HTCDev to unlock the bootloader the other day and it said i needed HTC Sync software to do this. HTC Sync is Windows only. according to what it says there, you can't unlock the bootloader on Linux.

I unlocked mine via HTCDev on Linux, no problem. The requirement to have HTC Sync installed is to ensure you have the correct drivers installed for Windows, it's not necessary otherwise.
You just need to have the adb/fastboot binaries. Easiest way is to just install the Android SDK (as recommended on HTCDev), but you can find them floating about elsewhere. Once you've got them the commands are the same regardless of your platform.

FAILED S-OFF with AlphaRev

Hello evrybody,
Let me explain you the problem
Current configuration: HTC Desire (Bravo) PVT1 (ship s-on)
Baseband/Radio 32.54.00.32U_5.14.05.17
Rooted with unrEVOked v3
ROM LeeDroid v2.4.1
HBOOT v0.80.0000
I tryed to s-off my phone with AlphaRev v1.8 using VirtualBox v4.0.6 (with usb 2.0 support add-on installed) under Windows 7 Pro x86 with SP1.
For some (unknown to me) reasons it didn't worked for me....
Current situation:
- Impossible to boot the OS - blank htc screen
- In Bootloader menu ("Power"+"Volume down") when trying to enter Clockwork Recovery Mod sometimes phone rebooting 4 times and sometimes it make 7 fast vibrations but anyways dropes me to blank htc screen...
- While I'm in Bootloader and connected through USB to PC, I can see that in Device Manager - Android Phone - Bootloader Interface detected (drivers OK)
Please help me.....
Did you ask on the alpha rev irc channel?
Since your phone is still able to start the bootloader, you should be able to get it back up running using fastboot.
Step1: Download some stuff.
- An image of your favorite recovery tool. I'm using clockworkmod recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039954&highlight=clockworkmod
You want the .img file.
- The Android SDK. Use Google =)
Step2:
Start the SDK Manager and download the SDK Tools and SDK Platform Tools. You now should have a "fastboot.exe" in the "tools"-folder.
Step3:
Connect your phone via usb, boot up the bootloader, and enter fastboot mode.
Step4:
Open a command line window using shift+right click in the folder where fastboot is. Launch "fastboot.exe devices". This should list your device. If not, Download the USB Driver Package using the SDK Manager and install the fastboot drivers. Windows might start whining about not being able to find the driver, but its definitely there. If fastboot.exe fails to start, you might need to copy it to the platform-tools folder and/or run cmd.exe using administrator privileges.
Step5:
Copy your recovery image to where fastboot.exe is and execute "fastboot.exe flash recovery <yourrecoveryimage>"
Further Steps:
You should now be able to boot into recovery and install roms.
You can also try to flash hboot using fastboot. If this fails, you got a handy $400 mirror to put in your pocket. You've been warned
Download a suitable image from alpharev (i think you want to go with the stock s-off hboot - that one with 250MB system) and flash it using "fastboot.exe flash hboot <hbootimage>" like described above.
Hope that helps.

[Q] Flash Yakju on Mac?

I've got the yakjuxw build and a Mac. Is there any way I can flash over to yakju, without finding a Windows machine to borrow or steal?
You can flash over to the Google build from a mac...no issue at all.. I have done that successfully a number of times. You'll need to download and install fastboot first. The executable for a mac is named 'fastboot-mac'.
I assume that you have the android SDK installed on your machine, if not, then there are quite a few guides on the net to help you with that, but essentially it is downloading the sdk and setting up environment variables on your mac. Just to confirm, my fastboot-mac is copied under the 'tools' folder of the sdk.
Once set up, boot the smartphone in bootloader mode either via 'adb reboot bootloader' command or by pressing the Vol plus + minus + power buttons. Then execute fastboot-mac devices to see whether you fastboot can identify your phone. If it does, then its simple steps from then on. If it doesn't, then you'll need to fix your install first.
Once the phone is visible to fastboot, then you need to unlock the bootloader and then execute the commands from the 'flash-all.sh' script that is included within the yajku build. I had indicated some steps here previously for another user.
HTH
Excellent! Thanks for answering!

[Q] ARHD 9.2 boot.img Compatible ROMs?

I'm currently s-on and unlocked with ARHD 9.2. I can't get any drivers to allow me to be detected in fastboot and I've used multiple USB cords. I'm just wondering if there would be any 4.0+ ROMs that would be compatible with my current boot.img or if there are any alternative methods to flashing my boot.img
I hope you're familiar with Terminal Emulator. Follow below link and get things running.
And yeah, every kernel suppose to be specific for The ROM has designed.
link: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-install-kernels-on-android-phones-custom-roms/
As long as you are S-ON you can install 4EXT Recovery Touch to flash any kernel with smartflash.
You could also try to make your device S-OFF.Try this guide if you like.
Why you can't install drivers for fastboot?
Can you see your phone gets recogniced in device manager?
Just download and install latest htc drivers.(If you download and install htc sync it installs the latest drivers but you have to uninstall sync after installation. It won't remove htc drivers)
If you have win8 you probably have to install drivers manually.

[Q] fastboot not working on Win 8.1

My ultimate purpose is to root my HTC Desire HD. To be able to do it, i need to extract the token for HTCDEV method via fastboot. It seems like the windows 8.1 drivers are not compatible with fastboot for my mobile. I've tried updating various drivers from device manager but nothing has worked till now. Can anyone help me with this fastboot issue?

I ended up on linux
You can do it without any issues and if it doesn't detect right - its simply because of your HBOOT version on your HTC. You'll need HBOOT-1.08.
You can check your HBOOT version in the HBOOT menu when pressing volume down with the turn on button on ur HTC. Make sure you do this when your phone is off obviously.
Linux operating system works without any issues. Just make sure you have ADB and fastboot installed on your operating system (android-tools on Arch Linux)
