hi!
i want to buy HOX at Amsterdam in about 2 month, i hope till then there will be no problems with the build quality, but i still want to make sure i can recognize them.
so there is that yellow spot, and flexing screen.
but i also saw a problem that the screen is a bit up, can someone upload a picture with and without the problem? so ill see the difference.
thanks!!
p.s
if someone knows a store in Amsterdam that sells white HOX in a good price, please send me a PM.
Fairly certain that you will notice if your phone has been built poorly.
If you have no noticeable problems, it's probably fine!
i think i wont notice right away if the screen will be a bit out, because i dont know how it should be...

The screen problems people seem to be having are flex issues, backlight bleeding, yellow spots and screen flickering.
All are rather noticeable if you have them, although some can appear after a few days I believe.
thanks.
i hope i wont have problems till june (or july... i dont remember )

The other day I noticed that I have a blue dot/circle on screen, maybe a cm in diameter. It's not a dead pixel or anything, it's just like there's a blue overlay on top of the screen. I stupidly carry it around without a case (I used to use my case but whenever the phone rang I used to accidentally decline calls whilst getting it out). Does anyone know what the problem is and whether it's fixable?
Thanks. Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
newton ring probably. Seems to become a frequent problem. Try the search on that.

My first phone did the same thing. Yup, it's a newton ring. If you are still under warranty (should have 1 year from purchase date), then just bring it back to Tmobile or whoever you bought it from. They swapped mine out with no problems. There is no fix that I know of without repairing the hardware. Good luck!
These guys are right, it does sound like the familiar "newton ring" issue, common to HTC hardware it seems.
There's a number of other threads across the site on that subject, you can check to see if the pics in any of them match the general look of what you're seeing...but I think the odds are very good you're just the next lucky winner in the newton-ring lottery.
FYI, although there seems to be no universal cause, heat and/or pressure are common suspects.
Thanks guys. Unfortunately I bought it handset only from the internet so I have no warranty. It's not too big or noticable so I guess I'll put up with it. It also gives me an excuse to buy myself the Touch Pro3 later on =p.

Most people say you can get them from pressure or too much heat, but I babied the hell out of my first one, and I still got one, so not sure if it really has to do with that or not. Sucks though, it bothered the hell out of me to see it every time. It wasn't horrible, just a faint blueish purple ring. That's the spirit. I want the tp3 as well.
Hey guys
I'd like to tell you all that this issue has occurred with my phone. On one side of my phone when I tap it (even lightly or not to hard) the screen has a blur effect to it which is not supposed to happen.
I bought this phone from UK in the Three store so i'd like to inform you guys that you should try tapping slightly on your phone and if you see a slight blur effect your phone might be faulty since this is not supposed to happen.
Now I know a lot of people say this is bull*** so did I until I realised that when I tap it even sensitively I see a very slight blur effect on the screen aka flex issues, it's possible that this only happens to my phone but I am pretty sure that there are more out there that have this.
I just made this post to inform you guys about it I'm guessing everyone wants a perfect phone therefore I advice you to test it on your phone and if it does the same thing as mine you should return it in order to get a perfect phone with no screen issues. Oh and BTW when you try it out make sure you have good eyes to see it because it's very minimal but still annoying.
I am returning mine pretty soon, I love the HTC One X but this has dissapointed me a lot, but hey what can you do? only return it and get a new one I suppose.
Guys, over the past few days I have noticed at the foot of the screen in the centre there is a yellow line (approx 1 to 2mm thickness) appearing which looks very much like screen burn.
It can only be seen when a lighter colour is present but it is there no matter what you are looking at.
When watching movies it is horrendous as your eyes are constantly drawn to the yellow thick line.
Question being has anyone else noticed this?
Sounds like a faulty panel to me

That's what I am thinking but before I contact Clove tomorrow it would be interesting to hear if this is an isolated case?

Impossible to see if you do a screen grab. The grab would not show the screen burn.
The only way to do it is to take a photo of the G3's screen and I don't have another camera at hand with me this weekend.
Dead pixel maybe

No, it's nothing like a dead pixel.
It's more like a yellow stain that progressively gets darker the longer the screen is left on.
I contacted Clove who would send it back to LG for them to look at.
In the meantime if I change the Home a Touch Buttons to Black it covers up the Yellow stain whenever a screen uses the touch buttons.
It's when you are either looking at photos, watching movies or playing games where you don't have touch buttons displayed that you see it.

I have had this on devices in the past, its certainly a faulty screen.
Yes, I definitely agree on that.
Okay I should return it for repair but I would find it murder to be without the phone.
So far it is limited to the area of the touch buttons and like I mention if I change to black you then don't see it a lot of the time.
I'm seeing if I can live with it..........

Just as a warning, when I have had this on devices in the past it is something that gets worse over time, the yellow area will spread, its probably worthwhile getting it fixed now to avoid having it become a bigger problem in the future.
Have you spoke to clove yet? Surely they might just swap it out rather than force you to get a repair?

Yes I spoke with Clove and was quite surprised they would send it back for repair.
At the time I had had the G3 for 18 days.
As such seeing as being without the phone is going to be a nightmare and it's not spreading or getting worse for the time being, I'm mulling over my options.
Fortunately money is not a problem. If it gets that bad I would rather buy another and set up the new G3 in the presence of the faulty G3 then either give the faulty one away to a member of the family which I do with all of my phones and let them decide what to do....
I have the exact same problem. Found this thread googling for it. It's almost right in the bottom center. Looks yellowish and it's driving me nuts. I'll probably hold off exchanging for a while since I cannot afford to go without a phone and have no way to backup everything until someone unlocks the boot loader.

Well, if it's any help to you all I can tell you is it doesn't appear to get any worse.
Yes it's there and more prominant when it gets hotter but it doesn't appear to be spreading or going darker.
At the moment I am still living with it.
Hi,
did anybody has this? (see Picture)
Its on the bottom of the screen. I just noticed it while browsing a website in landscape mode.
That may be glue. And I hope it is not a similar problem OnePlus One owners are facing.

Hm, but where? Obviously not on the front Between the Glas and the Display itself?
But,i will check this again when the phone gets warm....
This happens to LCD panels, it could be a one off due to heat etc, or it could be the sign of a faulty panel.

If it is glue, it cam be solved, by putting the phone under UV light or under the sun for some time, and it will go away. Google it.
If this does not solve your problem, look for a replacement.

Hm. A couple of days I think. But I can't tell you exactly. It just disappeard after a while.
I'm pleased yours disappeared. Mine which is identical in both the place and shape has been on my G3 since I got it back in July.
It still gets darker the longer you have heat build up on the screen and when it's cooled down its faint again.
i dont have the same luck as you guys mine are getting bigger and darker i think i have a bad lcd DAMN i really love this phone.
Same issue here. Same color, same location, same size. Mine is invisible when the phone is cool. But when the phone heats up, the yellow is very visible.
Sorry guys, I forgot to come back here with an update.
Mine eventually disappeared last week after nearly 3 months.
I believe it is the glue.
Someone told me to try leaving the phone under UV lighting. I left mine in direct sunlight for when it was not being used. Seemed to cure it in a few days.
yellow spot all of a sudden!
I've updated my phone to lollipop v20e a couple of days ago. Today I noticed this little yellow spot in my phone. Coincidence or not I began to use NFC TAGS early this morning, can this be related using the NFC TAGS and having this function enabled?
yellow screen marks
I bought my LG G3 on the 20/07/14 and after 5 months of use I have a long yellow thick line across the top left of the screen. What makes this even more concerning is my cousin bought the same handset a week before me and his now also has a thick yellow line on the screen. There is nothing you can do to get rid of it and it is more pronounced against a white background.Looks more like screen burn. Both my cousin and I have contacted LG and we are having to send our handsets to them for repair.
I have never experienced this issue with any other handset i have owned. I was unhappy that i had the issue but even more pi$$ed off that my cousin has the same thing happening which tells me either it was a huge coincidence or that these things are not fit for purpose and more and more will be going wrong in the near future.
My handset has been well cared for and never dropped. I am a moderate user so this was even more of a surprise. While the LG is getting repaired I am using my Sony z2 work phone as my personal for now and I don't think I will be swapping back when I get my LG back.
Good luck to anyone who has this issue. My concern is the same thing will happen again and then it will be my problem as it will be outside of warranty.
Juan
i have it too in the up-right corner of the screen and it doesn't disappear... it just get darker with hot screen and softens when it cools down
Left-top corner
I also experiencing this issue for 2 months now. its a strip. and its getting longer day by day. once i tried screen burn app and 8 hours continuously screen on resulted in heated display. then, when i press that line temporary it disappears. so obviously its the glue. i'll try the direct sunlight thing. hope it'll resolve this case. it's really annoying
Thanks for the tips :fingers-crossed:

After 6-7 months of usage, same thing, in same place (upper right corner, don't dissapear - only getting bigger and darker on hot screen).
Took my phone to local warranty service, and after 1 week got call from this service - they told me, that service is REJECTED, because phone had physical damage! (WTF?!?!?!?! i haven't dropped it, and there is no crack's/spots of damage on phone!).
After telling them all this, and proposed that it may be glue, or faulty LCD/Overheat - they told me that LCD have crack from back side (?!?!?!LOL!?!?!?!).
Now i'm stuck deep in *ss, and don't know even what to do....
Anyone of you got solution to this problem?
Maybe contacting LG representives directly will help to solve this case?
10x.
help!!! direct sunlight?? kindly put the instructions pls
Hello :good:
I have had my phone since release day, and I noticed in the sun I can see some lines in the screen almost looks like a burn image going vertically down. There are two large lines and a rectangle looking one in the middle. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but I can see it more in person and it bugs me
Does anyone else have this? Perhaps it's some type of shadow caused by the curved screen? I am going to open a warranty claim with T mobile, but I was just curious if I am the only one with this problem?
Thank you!

Yes I can see it too only in the sun on white background it looks like a shadow of something behind screen I read online that screen is very slim and it does bother me too this is the second thing first being a ripple in the glass top too bottom can only see it in the sun screen off no screen protector I guess the price of this phone is why these things bother me other than that this is the nicest phone I've owned and these are things I can live with as long as they don't get worse

It's not burn in. It's part of the construction of the phone, and only visible in direct sunlight where the light can penetrate the display to the point it's revelaing the structure underneath. Completely normal. No worries
The thing is, if you look closely, you see the graph of pixels now too, seems like it's getting worse.
Its a matter of fact that you spend this much money on a "flag ship device" with a great display in store, but when I go outside (where 90% of my workday resides) you see the issue. It's misleading the customer (Such a GREAT display....((INDOORS ONLY)) ) It's just principal.
If the replacement I get tomorrow has this issue as well (I am suspecting it will based on the responses)- I will call Samsung corporate and respectfully request a full refund as Tmobile wont take it back since it's beyond 30 days.
Edit: Thanks for everyones reply

I can respect your position, but I disgree that Samung is "misleading" the customer. It's been confirmed through 3rd party screen test companies that the Note 5 and the S6 Edge+ have the best screens in the industry. Just because you don't like how the screen looks in direct sunlight doesn't make it bad or false advertising.
Still the best screen around, everytime I'm out with people (which is a lot) my Edge+ blows away their phones, all of them.
Excuse me?

Really, A glass phone in direct sunlight? That's what a smartwatch is for. Do you walk down the street looking at you phone? Do you hold it up in direct sunlight? Do you understand the properties of glass? The screen is amazing. Most of the people I know that use this device do not expose it or any other phone to direct sunlight, there is even a warning in the manual about not doing so because it can seriously damage your screen. Dude, it's a glass phone. The sun is a very bright star and has a way of shining through glass. Do you find it odd that you are the only person reporting this as an issue? Go with an HTC or Iphone, they are built of metal and will not let the sun through, the drawback being that they will cut your reception slightly. This is the way it is, the phone is fine and the screen is good, but you can't please everyone.
well, anyways I got my replacement today and guess what? It doesn't have those blobs on it so big freggin deal guys. It was a one off. You guys take all this crap personally like you made the phones yourselves LOL
