[Q] At&t boot loader locked - HTC One X

Ok, I just read the boot loader is locked on the AT&T HTC One X. Since I'm new to this is that bad? Will this keep me from rooting and adding different rooms on to it? What does this mean?

Thats exactly what that means, if they do not give the option to unlock you wont be able to customize.

Until someone finds a way to unlock the bootloader without HTC then yes, you wont be able to do much.
I'm sure someone will hack it eventually

[Q] sony noob. feel stupid...

ok guys i just picked up a play for att. sucks cause i have tmobile and wont get the 3/4g data. im almost always in wifi spots anyway so no big deal.
anyway i have already called att and got the phone sim unlocked. now if i think i understand this correctly this should be the order to follow. if you guys can confirm and provide latest links i would appreciate greatly.
1. sim unlock (done)
2. unlock bootloader (not yet)
3. root (not yet)
4. load rom (not yet)
correct??? did i miss anything? any preferred method on any of these? please advise.
thanks!!!
First of all, if you bought a xperia PLAY, you should probably post in the xperia PLAY forums.
Second of all, questions go in the Q & A forum.
To answer your question, that's pretty much the right order.

well somewhere along the line i bricked the phone.
i was able to install clockwork recovery. i then tried to install a rom. and it froze for well over 30 min. so now all i can get to is the se logo. cant boot into recovery on boot up at all. how do you check to see if you have an unlocked bootloader?
any chance of restarting over? loading the stock rom?

Have you tried to use SE PC companion to restore phone to factory state?
From support start update and click repair phone.
That could bring your phone back to life.

That repair button didn't work?
For img flash you can use flashtool.
You don't need root or anything to use flashtool on your phone.
Just pick correct .ftf for your phone and flash it to the phone.
Do normal firmwares work on at&t's 4G version?
Maybe that's the problem

If you were rooted before you don't need to re-root unless you purposely unrooted it. IF you aren't rooted anymore superoneclick or the zergrush(however it's spelled) is the easiest. I'm 99% sure you don't have an unlocked bootloader though, so you have very few options. I'd say re-root if you need to and unlock your bootloader so you can flash flash and flash custom roms like crazy

It got bricked because you didn't unlock your bootloader.
1.Root your phone
2.Install Recovery
3.Unlock Bootloader

You need to pay Setool credits in order to unlock the bootloader. Unlocking the bootloader allows you to lose the sin lock as well, so you could have killed two birds with the same stone.

ya i just found the website. seems like thats the one everyone is sent to on this site.
im wondering now that im rooted if i can clean this stock rom up enough to use on a daily basis. i mean im using tmobile on the device so sharing internet would only be edge lol. i guess the only thing i really want ics for is that fact that its ics.
open the dial pad and use this code*#*#7378423#*#* . Then go to -> "Service Info" -> "Configuration".
If it says unlock bootloader = no, then you have to use the paid service, if yes, then you can do it for free yourself.

Just got my HOX - what now?

Hey guys,
Before I get teared apart limb from limb, I tried searching for rooting on the new software and didn't really come up with any guides.
So, anyway. I just got my upgrade HOX in the mail, and I'm so excited! Of course, I've been on XDA before and rooted and customized and flashed to my heart's content, but I need some help.
Would someone lead me to a guide for rooting HOX on the NEW software? I just got my new kit today, I don't know if it automatically updates or not. I pretty much want to learn how to get to flashing a ROM.
Thanks!

Use it as stock for a few weeks at least to rule out any manufacturer hardware issues.
Update via the OTA check for updates in settings. (2.17 is the latest)
------
The when you want to play with custom, root of etc....
Install Android SDK
1st step is unlocking the bootloader via HTCdev
Then flashing clockworkmod touch recovery
Then flashing a rom of choice, all which have root I think.

I would actually emphasize this. So many people have had hardware issues and it will be a struggle to get the phone repaired after rooting via HTCDEV. Spare yourself trouble and give some time to rule out those problems.
Besides you can use that time to get to know the available roms, issues with them and the rooting/flashing process

Sorry I'm just trying to learn here but here I go. Are their any complications of using HTC to unlock the bootloader meaning can't the boot loader be relocked if he is trying to send it in for repairs?

It can be relocked but unlocking the first time sends HTC a notion that your device has been unlocked. And there are several people that are having a tough time getting their phones repaired even though the issues are hardware.
Depending on the country and law it is possible to force them to repair or replace a faulty device but trust me, that process will be a lot faster and simpler if you haven't tampered with the bootloader.
An irrelevant response but that's why I will always go the nexus route when buying android so I could avoid most if not all these issues.

Help with HTC One X ATT version
Hi Guys,
So I have unlocked my HTC One X ATT version using the HTCDev.com site. Now I want to install clockworkmod so I can proceed with custom ROM installations. But all the links that I find to CWM are dead.
Can someone point me to the live links please? I am itching to get the CM10 rom installed on my HOX.
Please note there are plenty of sites and links for international version of HOX but I want for ATT.
Thanks,

Bootloader locked on S4?!

The S4 has a locked bootloader according to Engadget..
If you're hoping to run custom ROMs in place of TouchWiz, you may have to wait for a little while since Samsung has confirmed to us that the bootloader is locked
Why would Samsung start doing this out of the blue? Their devices have always been very easy to root and customize. Seems a little odd that they would do this.
Ok, you could post in the S4 thread itself since it exists as of a little while ago, or you could post in the Off Topic other devices thread since this forum is for the S3

Any HTC bootloader is unlockable. Do you have s-off/nand-unlocked yet? Exactly. Makes flashing roms a PITA.

Not that I'm a big supporter of HTC or anything, but their newest Bootloader unlock lets you flash kernels via recovery, even with S-On. The only limitations is flashing modified radios without HTC's signature.

I believe THIS is the article the OP is referring to. But as CNexus said, it might not be locked on Sprint. But honestly it doesn't matter to me. I will not be Upgrading to the S4. It really doesn't blow me out of the water with Features, Screen, or anything else. Not to mention eventually most of those new features we will be able to have on our S3's .

Ok well, thats not right. On HTC devices (only exception I know of is the EVO 4G), having s-on makes the boot partition unwriteable, except via fastboot and some other hacks
I just got finished helping this guy get his phone booting again. He flashed a rom for the international HTC One and was bootlooping even after flashing another rom. Fastbooting the boot.img fixed him right up.

[Q] Radio and OpenDSP have "INVALID-VER-INFO" beside them. Is this normal? Need help
I just recently purchased the m8. I did lots of research learning everything I could before doing any modding. So today I decided to unlock my boot-loader so it was my first time getting into recovery. But when I get into recovery I see both radio and OpenDSP have "INVALID-VER-INFO" beside them. Its never been modified and I got it from t mobile and was the first to open the device. Not a second hand phone. Is this normal? I've been googling for hours and cant find any information. Its been sort of difficult getting any help in the htc M8 help threads honestly. If anyone can shed any information I would greatly appreciate it. I haven't noticed any thing wrong with my phone out of the box and everything about the functionality of the phone has been stellar.

I think something is off on that phone. I unlocked and s-offed mine and the only thing different was the os is blank but everything else was fine.
But if u have no actual problems with cell reception or audio then maybe u just need to update the firmware to latest after u s-off and that Will fix u up. More than likely.
Let me know I have done a lot on my phone allready. I even switched it to a dev edition just to get the 4.4.3 firmware and then flashed my backup back to my Rom of choice.
I'll help if I can. I notice there ain't many people helping on this forum there all on the international forum

I appreciate that. I just didn't want to s-off since I dont do any heavy modding. I was just gonna unlock the boot-loader, install custom recovery root and flash arhd. I don't think this is normal either for a brand new phone that hasn't been touched software wise. I might go exchange it at t mobile. This is my screen

I understand about the s-off but really it's the best thing to do because if something ever goes wrong there will be nothing stopping u from fixing it.
Also I was gonna suggest taking it back but they might trip on the unlocked bootloader and if u fastboot oem lock it Will say relocked. So they will know. But it's worth a try. T-Mobile doesn't seem like they know anything about technical stuff. so if you try to explain to them they might look at you like they don't know what your talking about.
I seen the picture if it is still locked take it back. And show them
Your firmware is allready the latest so that's a factory f-up.

More than likely. I got charged 50 bucks one time and I couldn't even fight it because they sent it in and my Bill went up I wondered why so I asked and they said because of modifications all they did was exchange it but I still had to pay. Try it or relock it and do the ruu for that firmware. And see if it will take off the tampered flag and fix the ver info

No apology needed. Thank you for helping me out. I was able to s-off and get everything back to stock. Boot loader locked not "relocked" , s-on, unrooted. But the "invalid version" message was still there. I just came back from the tmobile store and they ran some diagnostics and said there was a problem with the software. They exchanged it for me and I checked it before I left the store and this one is perfect. I even asked for them to run the same diagnostics and everything checked out fine. I'm gonna do even a little more research before modding this one. I'm a little nervous now ..lol....but again thank you!!! I really love the M8. I came from the galaxy note 3 from att and sadly att locks the boot-loader on it. I love the note 3 just not on AT&T. I'm trying to sell my AT&T note 3 to buy a tmo version.

That's great problem solved.
now u know u got a good device.
I love the m8 too. I got mine first day it came out at T-Mobile.
First thing I did was unlock and s-off then recovery and root. Till some roms came out then I went to Bad Seed Customs Rom and that's it.
I've tried a lot of the roms even the new stock with elementalx kernel will last all day.
There's a whole lot u can do but most of the info is in the international forum.
Anyways glad I could help.

Weird bro...now I go into boot loader with this phone and I'm getting the invalid ver message again. I'm still unmodified with bootloader still locked. I haven't even connected the phone to my computer yet.

Lol....I'm gonna keep it. I think it's software related. Nothing wrong functionality wise just like the other one. And I went to a different tmobile store for inventory purposes and lessen the chances of me getting a bad phone. Like I said I checked it at the store it didn't have that message. And they ran diagnostics and it read clean. I'm just gonna flash away lol

Probably not but everybody just gets to unlocking and s-offing so fast they probably don't notice.
It's probably just the ones coming with that firmware out of the box.
When I got mine it had a different version.
