[Q] Kindle will not start - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Kindle fire is running stock rom but modified by Modaco (running 6.3)
I have removed the otacerts.zip file to avoid updates.
I turned off my fire when it was on 57% battery and tried to turn it on about ten minutes later.
All that happened was the green light came on for about three seconds then went out and it will not fire up.
I have not turned the fire off probably for a month. As far as I'm aware the OTA update has not updated.
Can anyone give me an idea as to how I can fix this issue ?

First things, first. Hold the power button for 30 seconds or more to make sure it's shut down properly and try again.

[Q] Kindle Fire does not suspense when sleep but shuts down instead

I cannot find any info about this in google or XDA so here goes.
I am having a strange problem with my kindle fire. Even with stock rom without root and everything, my kindle fire randomly shuts down when i press the power button to suspend it. It does not occur everytime. Sometimes when I press the power it wakes up, sometimes when I press the power button it starts from boot screen.
Seeing this, I went to root it, install TWRP Recovery and FireFireFire. I tried a CM7 rom. The same thing happens. Sometimes it wakes up sometimes it just boots up as though it has completely shut down.
Tried again, this time I installed the latest Reloaded ICS Rom and flashed the latest intersectRaven's Kernel. The same thing happens. I tried to play around with the CPU settings. The most stable i got was with setcpu and speed of 300mhz when screen off. Default Min 600 Max 1200 with ondemand governor. But even with this, the shut down when screen off still happens randomly.
There is also one interesting observation. The shut down during sleep does not happen when I have the charger plug in. While charging, whenever the screening is off and i power it up, it was up normally.
Is my kindle screwed?
Sorry for the long post. I gather that it will be more useful for anyone that is helping to have more details regarding my problem
This happens tto the kindle when it runs software not specifically designed for the Kindle Fire. The chance is always there with many apps, programs and software not obtained from the amazon appstore or a developer for kindle fire software. To solve this, whenever your kindle acts up like this, hard reset (hold power for 20 seconds) it should start working again. As of now, i have no permanent fix but this works for me.

I'm getting a similar behavior. Just upgraded to latest cm10 ROM with same results. The problem I am having is that occasionally when the kindle sits and sleeps for a bit it will turn itself off requiring me to hold the power and restart it. It is annoying to any the least. I plan to go thru the apps to see if one is causing it. Does anyone know where i can check log files for this? I'm still a bit new...
This could be related to a dirty flash. I think some of the older versions of Jelly bean had some strange problems but that is long since sorted. Try a clean flash with an updated version of CM10 to see if a dirty flash is your issue.
•1. Transfer Rom zip and matching gapps zip to sdcard.
•2. Enter recovery.
•3. Create a backup.
•4. Wipe factory reset.
•5. Wipe cache.
•6. Wipe dalvik.
•7. Wipe system.
•8. Flash Rom zip.
•9. Flash gapps zip.
•10. Select reboot, then system if prompted.
•11. Enjoy!

For the original Kindle Fire OS, I never managed to find a solution for that. When the screen is off after a while, the kindle seems to be switched off on its own (no off animation, just like power to the device is cut off) and it goes into boot mode when I switch on the power.
For custom rom, i have been running hashcode's rom. Some release from his rom managed to solve my problem. Recently when I try to update to the latest version, the same problem came back. I suspect it could be due to the kernel issues with my kindle. Maybe the motherboard of the Kindle is faulty and compatible with some kernel???
The latest one that worked wa build 20121224 running android 4.12 with Kernel 3.0.31.
I still don't understand what happened and I am really interested to find out the root cause. Maybe I will do a logcat (not sure how now) when I am free.

I'm having the same experience... older builds of hashcode were fine, but now I have it fully charged and then leave it idle for maybe 6 hours. When I try to wake it up, nothing happens. I have to hold the power button for a long time, and finally it will boot up. When it finally boots up, it's only at 60% battery... a MUCH quicker drain than before.
It sounds like at least with my device, whatever is causing the random shutdown or freeze (it could just be frozen and be refusing to wake up, right?) seems to be causing battery drain.
Anyone have any troubleshooting steps they might try? is logcat the only one?
Otherwise, I'll try wiping everything sometime soon and seeing if that helps.
This happened to me too but only a few times, my Kindle is running CM 10.1, sometimes when I try to use it the Kindle won't respond, not matter how many time I press the power button it won't turn on. But if you wait some minutes the Kindle randomly wake up.

I did this a while ago so I don't remember which setting I changed, but my current CPU governer is HOTPLUG and my I/O scheduler is VR. After I changed to that configuration, my battery drain problem went away, and my screen not-waking-up problem MOSTLY went away. It still happens occasionally, but I've found I can leave the tablet for a day or two and come back and it will wake up instantly 90% of the time.

[Q] 5 second boot loop with fully charged battery

I have a Gen1 Kindle Fire that will not power up. I bought it as not working so I don't know any history on it. I can usually fix these stuck in boot loop units with no problem.
On this one, I get the Orange/White Kindle Fire logo for 5 seconds and then it shuts down. I have spent a couple of days reading every post in the "5 second bootloop! aka: Don't let your battery die!" thread and have had the KF plugged into a 2 amp charger over night. Nothing seems to work including a factory cable. No drivers get a chance to load and nothing appears in device manager on a pc which loads drivers fine with a different Kindle.
I finally took the battery out and put it in another KF and it booted up no problem. When I went into Settings > Devices it said that the battery charge was 100%. I haven't been able to find any other threads with this same problem.
Now what? Can I use something like Firekit to reflash the bootloader and/or system? Any other ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Any words of wisdom out there?

[Q] Bricked Kindle fire Hd8.9 till battery dried ~ Help!

Hi there guys, Good regards too all
There is major problem i couldn't really solve on bring back my kindle that went from booting on the "Kindle Fire" logo only , and then later on it went in to fastbooth ..slowly later i tried to turn on it wont On.
How do i recover this.?
The earlier scenario to this case was : I did successfully rooted the device to CM10.1 Android 4.2.2 custom ROM. followed zedomax (Max lee) everything was good perfect. After awhile i decided to go back to Kindle original OS. and mange to restore back that perfectly. My device was still rooted with superuser and all. After few months went by the auto update went on the apps in there which was (my suspect to this outcome) I left my device in the drawer for day and when I got to use it it was On and hot, the screen was blankbut on
Well restarted the device the "Kindle fire" logo came on and then it hangs to blank on screen only. I mange to and tried to play around with Adb configuration and all it work till fastbooth then next when I turn it on the device was detected and Off later debunk by windows while i was on . then the last few round i tried again later on the was flat dead! couldn't On. (What i highly suspect it is just the battery got drained out )
Chances are the battery dried to what I d suspected cause when the last i was using the battery was 45% and 1 days pass with this minor testing on trying to debug it .
If it is the battery How do i charge it back? - get it going (will the factory cable work?)
Is there any other alternative in reviving my device.? - since it wont on.
I highly do believe its only the battery that got drain off otherwise i cauld find my way back to the device just figuring out how do i bring it back in to charging it?
*cause now it is totally does not turn on cause it is drain in battery and being bricked I cant charge in between
Any other suggestion or alternative.? or shall i wait for my Factory cable to revive it?
Thanks
Har.
*I do believe it's possible to bring my Kindle back but how. ?

Fire Tv (Gen 1) in a reboot loop

I have one of the very first firetvs (Gen 1) in the market with OS version 51.1.0.0, rooted using towel root & all the updates blocked at the router. I never had a problem running Kodi or any other apps whatsoever until recently when it suddenly started going on a reboot loop. It happens whether I'm running Kodi or any apps on Amazon home screen. When it reboots, it shows only the homescreen icons and not the menues and keeps flickering for a few seconds & then reboots again. It keeps on doing this until I turn the power OFF & turn it back again. It works for around 30 minutes and then goes into the loop again. I had Kodi 14.2 (Helix ) running before & had this issue. Recently upgraded to 16.0 (Jarvis) & having the same issue. I was wondering if anyone having this kind of problem & if so, is there any remedy for that. Thanks!
Have you shut down (turned off) the updates through ADB? If not it may try to install an update and because you have an pre-rooted image it fails.

The updates have been turned off through ADB since I rooted the box. I also checked with ADBFire that says "Amazon Updates Off" at the bottom.

Fire TV Box Gen 1 (Bueller) Rebooting Isssue

Hi All,
I am having issues with my FireTV Box Gen 1 (Bueller). The issue is when i turn off the TV and the box basically after 30 minutes or so, reboots and goes to recovery and get stuck there. I have to reset it by pulling power to bring it to the OS. When rebooted, it will work fine, but when i turn off the TV, it does same thing.
FireTV Gen 1 is Rooted and using rbox’s latest and last update. Bootloader is fully unlocked and TWRP is installed.
I have formatted and installed the OS and same issue.
Is there a way to fix this? if yes, please advise
If no to above, can i revert back to Stock Recovery? if yes, how?
I tried searching form, i can only find unroot option if you have clockwork recovery

If you mean the bootmenu cold-boots into twrp instead fireOS, try wiping cache...
i figured it out. there was an update pending latest update. somehow rbox modded firmware downloaded that and it was scheduling to install. i cleared the cache and disabled ota and took care of it.
