LOL (lot of lies)
I was hoping something like this would pop up. This section has been slow and probably will be slower in the next couple of weeks.
Off topic but wth:
I'm still torn between One X and One S.
I intended to get One S but it seems that One X took all the development away from One S. From what I've been reading, OneS out perform OneX even. The only thing that puts me off about OneX is the damn size.

You'll get used to the size. I was struggling at first, but then, after using it for a couple of weeks, wow... I'm so happy I bought it. What you have been reading is benchmarks. There is no real performance difference aside from t3 games. The battery on the OneS is better though. What made me choose it over the One S was the available memory. But why don't you go to a store and try them both. That should help a lot.

That's what sucks. The One S is not released officially here on our region. Only the One X and the One V. It's kinda difficult to make an overall comparison when I can only get One S online at the moment.

I wonder why some countries like mine do not stock the One S. It seems better than the One X. However, as it is not being sold in my country, I'm unable to get it with contract. And its too expensive for me to get it online.

Besides performance and speed of the devices: i recommended to go to a store where they have both devices. Grab them and have a look at the displays! The one X just kills the one s (slcd vs. amolad with pentile matrix i think -correct me if i am wrong). if you compare both displays, you will immediatly see the disadvantages of the pentile matrix of the one s...

As I've said before, OneS is not available in my region. I would love to compare it side by side but HTC don't wanna do business so it seems.
I might wait a little bit to see how SGS3 stacks up

I picked up a One X as an upgrade on Vodafone, it's going back and I'll switch back to my trusty old Desire for a while. No issues with screen flex or any of the other gremlins that seem to have plagued people, I'm simply massively annoyed at the way HTC are handling "unlocking" after the big hooraw they made about "listening to their customers". Well, that and the fact the phone is a sealed unit. I hated the idea when the iPhone was initially released and find that I still do. Swappable battery and memory is simply too useful to live without on a daily handset.
Don't get me wrong, the phone itself is a nice unit. Both pleasant in the hand and nice to use, the screen is quite lovely and the camera seems to manage quite well although I suspect it will have the same issues as the Desire in long term use with the lens getting scratched and affecting image quality.
I'll look at the S3 when it's released but will probably hang on for a while, Samsung usually offer nice hardware specs but the firmware is almost always atrocious.

Hi all,
I am thinking of getting one for my wife...however, I have been told the internal memory isn't a lot. Specially for games and apps. So just wanted to know if this really is a problem in a long run.
I quite like the screen size and the screen particularly, it's bright and beautiful.
Also, if I buy it now, some where in February, what OS version should i expect, upgradeable to what? I am not much is flash fanatic, so i am not going that way at all...
And also could someone be kind enough to sum up the pros and cons in less than a minute...
Thank you so much...
I would suggest to look for a better phone if you have the budget. Although a great hardware in its time, Desire is old and is obsolete now (it hurts me too say it but that's the truth. ). The last official Android version is Gingerbread. If you are not going to root and s-off, you will definitely have to complain about the memory storage.

just what I was afraid of...thanx a lot buddy...but the use it going to be moderate to low-heavy..like simply put, for games and all...nothing over the top...and some apps of course...
and as I am writing this, I am comparing it with the Desire S...it looks wayyy better...so what would you suggest? Desire S or Incredible. I don't have the budget for the Incredible honestly...but any known issues with the Desire S?
Yeah better a Desire S than the original Desire. Although I'm not quite sure if it will get an ICS upgrade in the future.
Game files right now are getting larger so Desire isn't really up to the task of storing several games plus other apps at once specially if you intend not to root it.

Thanx buddy...but no known issues with Desire S right that I should be aware of/expect?
There were some problems with the Desire S, but most of them were software-related and have been fixed, either by official patches or by independent parties such as the devs here on XDA. The main issue with the Desire S, however, is a hardware bug: some shipments have been plagued by random reboots. Some people even had to have their devices replaced 3 to 4 times until finding a stable unit. So if you decide to buy an S, please make sure you have at least SOME warranty left.
Hi, I wouldn't buy a HTC device at the moment except you really like the stable metal covers of HTC. But for me, Samsung has the best devices now in case of hardware and price performance ratio.
So long story short I would recommend you a Samsung Galaxy S Plus. The Motorola DEFY+ is also quite good.

My suggestion:
Take your money and run, run as fast as you can, run as far away as possible from this phone.. scat! get outta here!! I never want to see you again! :'(
But in all seriousness... go for a newer phone, this ones almost 2 years old.
Today if I wanted to buy new HTC, it would be Sensation (not that XL or XE - I see just marketing move of HTC under these). I think it's the best HTC you can buy today.
As it was already said, Desire is too old today and in case of stock settings (no root or S-OFF) the memory status is really painful.

I would if i could, but there's actually no way to tell. As i've already said, the reboots are completely random and HTC's solution for these is a mainboard replacement.
I don't know where the Desire S has been/is being made. The Desire was made in either China or Taiwan. My GF's Desire is made in Taiwan and it's visibly better built than mine, which is made in China. Both are PVT-4. So if that's also true for the S, i'd advise you to buy a Taiwan-made one.
Posting in this section because posters on this form have experience with both the S4 and the Tegra 3.
Currently I own an HTC ONE S. I love the way it looks and feels in the hand, the screen and battery life is decent and when its working correctly its lovely and fast.
BUT
I hate the chipping issues and there is no official word on a solution for the black version. The Internet and signal is sporadic at best jumping from 3G to HSDP+ and often not working at all i'm also getting soft resets when browsing the internet. I also hate that it can't play 720p youtube smoothly.
I'm thinking of complaining to 3mobile and upping my tariff and swapping for a HTC One X (international with Tegra 3).
I'll get used to the size and the added bonus of extra storage will be nice. The battery concerns me a little. In work I always have access to a charger so thats ok. But at weekends when i'm out and about just using the phone for the occasional call and text and nothing else am I likely to notice a huge difference between the S and the X?
Would you make the change if you were having the same issues as me? I've had two ONE S's both with the same problems so its not just my phone.
There have been no updates for the S whereas there have been at least 2 for the X. Also the ROM scene on the S isn't great with not many releases and I was hoping to learn how to do that and have some fun tinkering.
What would you do?
Thanks for any help in advance.
If I were you I'd go ahead and get the One X because you seem to want more power to play 720p smoothly without LTE and after reading the Battery Stats thread (which includes the One X international version), I came to a conclusion that the One X has pretty decent battery life. Though I'm already biased because I literally can't sleep at night because I'm thinking about this phone, I would still recommend it over the One S also because of screen size and quality. But before you pull the trigger and get the One X, you should ask around the forums and see if anyone else is using the unlocked international version of the One X on T-Mobile and if they're experiencing similar issues.
they said they changed the process of the one s, so idk exchange it for the one s, if it doesnt work go to the one s!!!!
but i think your meant to post this in the international one x section??? yes no idk
Wrong forum, this is the S4 One X(L) section.
That being said, the S4 version is still a fantastic device.

current One X owner, it eats h264 for breakfast and plays 1080p videos flawaless im surprised the One S can't play 720p, tegra games and the SLCD2 screen have to be seen to be believed
however we have serious list of random build quality defects right and there is a high chance you might get a defected unit, i made a poll and 28% out of 600 voters had a defected unit

My advice: get rid of them and move on. Why stick w something that gives you so much distress and then feel unhappy?
That being said, if I were to get any of them, I'd stick around since they are such nice phones and I cant imagine me using Android on any other brand Sam*cough*sung*cough.
But again: it's just a phone. Dont like it dont use it.

Please don't be misleading when it comes to defective numbers, its natural that when people have defects they come search on a forum like this and when nothing is wrong they don't.
Also after years of reading these forums its clear that out of the thousands there is always a few ocd who nit pick at things that the general public would never even notice as build defects.
My One X is fine btw It's the longest I have ever gone without rooting and installing custom rom, I think because I really enjoy the stock speeds and sense UI re design ^.^

I believe the defective unit rate would be more like >10% (Still bad), Remember people like to complain more than they like to praise, hence why you'd see a disproportionate amount of negative results.

I'm with basil3...to any of us here, the most minute little inconsistency will drive us mad and we will post and ***** and moan about it all day long, but to most people, such things don't even compute. It's the same reason "most people" buy iPhones...they just don't know any better and any old POS will do.
Fwiw, I also have a perfect OneX. Still stock and brilliant in every way. I also find it difficult to believe someone would keep going back to something that they found defective fifteen times...
get the XL if you are on tmobile..if you buy the international version you will be stuck with edge unless you live in an area that tmo has refarmed their 1900 spectrum to handle 3G (which I doubt it)

this is lame..
with samsung dominating the market, their phones becoming easier and easier to root and custom rommed..
last time it used to be odin, now there's cwm touch for samsung phones and also hardware hacks that are influenced by software. even modems on samsung phones are flashable.
im giving htc one last chance, unveil a godly tegra 4 phone with superb camera (better or on par with samsung) and also NO wifi pin problems or anything similar. htc better keep their game up, or im going to jump ship too.
software problems are fine because they can be fixed. but hardware as terrible as the wifi pins problem on the hox? no.
if that happens again, i will definitely jump ship
edit : 1 week after the hox came out, the RRP for it was RM 2099. 2 weeks later, it's RM 1899. today, a 1 week old set costs a thriffling rm 1399 and a new set costs another thriffling rm 1649. the s3 stood strong at rm 1999 today and the RRP was 2199

Did you even read the topic of this thread? it's for people you like/love/enjoy there One X
One word: screen. Compared with the ridiculous pentile AMOLED s#it, the HOX's screen looks gorgeous. Sure if you have never seen it, you might think that a 4.7" 720p screen will not suffer from the pentile matrix, but when you look at them side by side, the difference is huge. And when you add the more accurate colors, the CPU which has games optimized for it, the comming of the cheap Tegra3 console which will drive more developers to optimize their games for it, the overall look and feel of the phone (I hate shiny plastic stuff) and you get a device which is truly a marvelous piece of technology.

I'm with you there!, I just love the way I can put my One X down anywhere and look at it from almost any angle and still read what's on the screen! and the colours remain the same too!

this is lame..
with samsung dominating the market, their phones becoming easier and easier to root and custom rommed..
last time it used to be odin, now there's cwm touch for samsung phones and also hardware hacks that are influenced by software. even modems on samsung phones are flashable.
im giving htc one last chance, unveil a godly tegra 4 phone with superb camera (better or on par with samsung) and also NO wifi pin problems or anything similar. htc better keep their game up, or im going to jump ship too.
software problems are fine because they can be fixed. but hardware as terrible as the wifi pins problem on the hox? no.
if that happens again, i will definitely jump ship
edit : 1 week after the hox came out, the RRP for it was RM 2099. 2 weeks later, it's RM 1899. today, a 1 week old set costs a thriffling rm 1399 and a new set costs another thriffling rm 1649. the s3 stood strong at rm 1999 today and the RRP was 2199

All three issues already fixed in latest batches and software
Ill donate to have you away to the sgs3
+1
I like HTC because they are already working on jelly bean, that is the main factor of owning awesome smartphone - the updates, samsung lost this battle hard when they couldn't or didn't want to update galaxy s anymore - which is very nice powerful phone even today, probably wouldn't buy One X if they went the other way.
+2
I have not seen One X screen before i bought it, now i cant imagine more perfect screen quality, nothing can beat that.
+3
Just android and google experience, I wouldn't even look at One X if it had like windows phone rubbish, there are differences in companies strategy, Google gives me youtube, android system, mail account, search and maps FOR FREE, Microsoft is completely opposite, its not user friendly - just watch how bad METRO is for desktop and how many ppl complain - they are not listening.

Latest batches ? Am I suppose to look for serial numbers or HTC recall the messed up batches and fix them ? cause its a shame to have exchange 4 hoxes and none of them worth the money I paid for ,none of them feel like a quadcore ,all of them have had faults, repair centers a mess .......
I have had other android phones. Even though I love android over iOS, I never had a phone feel more sophisticated in hand over the iPhone. The HOX is the best phone I've ever had. It feels better in my hand over the iphone for sure! (without a case obviously)
My HOX is better than the IPhone because of the big beautiful screen! Just love playing movies, games and surfing the internet on it!
And of cause the mighty Tegra 3
To the people who are complaining: why do you keep *****ing over your stupid problems in a thread where the OP so clearly states that it is a positive thread ment for encouragement. Take your selfpity to one of the many threads that is meant for whining.

Obviously you're unhappy. Either take it up with HTC or move on. Either way I see little reason for you to keep behaving like a brat here.
I just don't get why people that are unhappy with a device and know they will never be happy with it, insist on punishing themselves instead of growing a pair and growing up.
My HTC One X rocks. I don't twist it like a frisbee so I haven't found this magical 'twisting' that some folks have whined about.
The screen is awesome. No yellow tint or dots. If I had found either I would not have bought it (Or for the slow people SEND IT BACK.)
Very snappy. I haven't rooted or flashed it, but it sounds like half the complainers may have had a bad flash or flashed the wrong version and are now pooping fireworks because they effed up their phone.

I really like the one x, but just a little hesistant to make the final leap. Thanks Guys. I hope to be a regular member of this section of the forums.

Don't let such a fear get to you. I doubt the newer models have that much of a problem anymore. Just make sure you search for any possible problems that can occur at the beginning. If you plan on rooting and flashing your phone i would even wait for up to 2~3 weeks but that's really up to you to decide. You won't regret this phone, good luck!
I used to have the incredible s and this phone is far better. Plus the 2.17 update is amazing! If you buy now you will get newer models without issues.
A new revised version of One X (AKA Endeavour C2) is already in the works. I’d say wait for it.

Hardly any changes, more like a small revision to the current HOX. Price should be just a tad more expensive.

Im guessing the bump in clock speed would 'justify' that...either way, Id wait on it...although, I want to see what the next Nexus has to offer
Don't do it. Buy the galaxy s3 or the one s. HOX is the most disappointing phone I've ever owned. It may well be the case that the newer ones come without defects but that kind of consideration should not even be in the equation when deciding on your next phone. I expect it to work properly out of the box.
No doubt every phone has its problems when first released but the myriad of problems with the HOX is unacceptable especially regarding htc's poor history of quality control.

The reason the HOX was so desirable is because it isnt as pocket burning as the SGS3....if the HOX+ manages to emerge without issues, it would be a definite buy...then again, feel like waiting to see what the new Nexus has to offer
Hello everyone, after 8 years of Htc is time for my Samsung advanture.
The very slow Htc update speed is the reason why I moved to Samsung, as it looks like is always one step ahead of Htc.
It's been 2 days on my Note2 and I love it, a very good and powerfull phone.
Hope not to regeret my One x, for now not at all.
Cheres!

Welcome and i hope you wil not miss these cursed HTC CID versions so you will be able to flash any compatible rom to your phone. The bootloader is also unlocked (keeps warranty) if that is no problem
As my name would indicate, been an HTC user since... forever - from the touch viva days to One X Finally made the switch and so glad that I made that decision. Love this phone!

Glad you have come to your scences (just kidding) Nothing wrong about HTC devices but some definite dealbreakers like storage, non-removable battery, CID, locked bootloader and slow updates.
Yes, all the above things are the reason for the switch, I still love Htc for all the great phones that I used for this past 8 years, but I see that there is no ear for the costumers, no more feeling... hope one day it will get better, for the benefit of all us.

Brain teasing adventure.
Welcome aboard.
In 2 days I'm gonna take the same boat to endeavour the conquest!
After 4 months on Note 2 I really miss my HTC ONE X. As soon as HTC One is on available I will go back to HTC.
Note 2 is a very good smartphone but HTC are wayyyy ahead. I can tell this after 7 years and more then 30 smartphones. My main smartphone will never be something then HTC
^Used to own a One X myself. Why do you miss One, if I may ask? Just curious of course. I'm not sure how HTC are "wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy ahead", though. and I used to own (nearly) exclusively HTC devices before.

Actually the S4 is Wayyyy ahead of any HTC phone in every aspect. Better cpu, more sensor, better battery, sd-card slot, removable battery, better audio chip, etc... But if you like the HTC it's your choice.
The only thing I miss from HTC is the Sense UI and build quality.

Don't miss Sense UI that much, but I do miss the premium feel. I still think Samsung could have done better with the design. Not even nearly a dealbreaker for me though. Just nitpicking here :good:

What build quality are you missing with a Samsung Note 2? Are you talking about the build quality that makes the HTC One the least repairable phone EVER?
http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/htc-one-is-the-least-repairable-phone-ever-ifixit-says-50010796/
http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/28/ifixit-breaks-open-an-htc-one/
This build quality?
I'm so tired of reading that crap about the build quality of HTC over Samsung. Aluminium body DOES NOT automatically equal build quality and plastic body DOES NOT automatically means poor build.
This said, HTC has a good build quality yes, but Samsung has nothing to learn from HTC in the build quality department.

Both me and the guy in the comment above you find HTC devices feel more premium. I also think the HTC One is the best looking phone I've ever seen and truly feels premium. This is not the case with the note 2 imo. Similarly, it's irrelevant how hard to One is to open up, and if anything goes to show that it may prove more durable than other devices, like the article suggests. Repairabily is irrelevant when we're discussing build quality and I found that the link you posted weakened your arguement. In saying that though, it is all subjective.
I'm not a massive fan of plastic phones, and the general impression I have got from many others is that plastic does make the phone feel cheaper than it is. You may not agree, but that is the way a lot of people feel so it's not "crap." At the end of the day plastic may have some advantages over aluminium, but it is unsurprising if some people feel that something like the HTC One is a much more premium looking and feeling phone.

Yes of course it's irrelevant, discussing how the phone is built is totally irrelevant when discussing the quality of the built. Makes total sense. Paying 900$ for a phone you can't repair really weakened my argument. I don't know where my head was.
