How do I play music from my phone on anything in my house? I have a PC, 360, PS3, an Onkyo receiver, and a Sony Bravia. That should be 5 separate ways to stream music from my phone to either of those things right? I guess not, after looking around a little I found that there is no DLNA support for this phone. So I figured I'd just plug in a line in cord from the phone's headphone jack to my receiver's LINE IN plug, but still I get nothing.
Am I missing something? On my ipod and my old HTC Evo, as soon as I plugged in that headphone jack the music would instantly play on the receiver. Is there an option on the phone somewhere to enable this? If not, then are there apps to stream to any of the devices I mentioned? Thanks guys.
DLNA is kinda supported (video and pictures only at this point) by Nokia via the free beta app 'Play-To'. I found it in one of the links Nokia put in mobile IE. So for right now it is half-supported.
XBox Connector from your phone will connect to you Xbox. I assume you know how to port from there. Also, have not plugged into the stereo system, but I have connected to a pair of powered speakers, and a Bose Portable speaker system. No issues.

I'm assuming Xbox Connector is in the marketplace? What exactly does it do? Just enable streaming to and from my Lumia?

Its allows you to control basically your entire xbox with your phone. I highly suggest downloading it. Although I do think he means Xbox Companion.

Are you referring to Xbox Companion? All I've been able to do with that is turn my Lumia 900 into an Xbox remote with that.
It's a free app so I guess people can try it out and report back. I didn't find an option to stream music from my Windows Phone to my Xbox with that application. Am I missing something?

Did you check that the volume on the phone is turned all the way up?
Seriously... I had a similar issue with Bluetooth streaming. It seemed like there was no music but once I turned up the volume, it was working fine. (This was on a Titan but the scenario is the same.)
Too bad Nokia doesn't have full DLNA support yet. HTC has an app that works very well for this on their devices, so we know it's at least possible on WP7.

I stream Bluetooth to the car just fine. This happens when I plug in a cord from the headphone to the receiver...I get nothing when I plug it in this way. But like I said, other devices like my old iPod and HTC Evo do this just fine. And apparently I'm getting nowhere on the software front of streaming. You think I could stream Bluetooth to my PS3 or PC?

The Nokia Care Suite in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605144
It had an unexpected side effect. I either paired it first a good while before installing it or paired it after but now I can play music off the phone via bluetooth and it will also make my notebook a headset.... Some app loads when it connects that has media center buttons but says something about the care suite for streaming music.
I also have an old motorola bluetooth music gateway to stream to or from my phone.

I am not suggesting you use Bluetooth streaming, I was simply using Bluetooth streaming as an example of *another* experience that can be affected by the volume control.
Plug in your cord and then hit the volume up button and make sure your volume is maximized.

Ok, gotcha I'll try that when I get home.
If you're looking for DLNA options, Nokia currently has an app in beta to support this. Unfortunatly, it doesn't support music at this time. But they promise support for it with-in the next month. Here's a QR code for it (Scan with phone)

Hello,
I think I have found the best FM transmitter for HTC devices (with EMU port).

I only have 2 questions about it:
- Does it also charge the HTC device when you use it ? I mean is the PocketPC charged through the FM transmitter device ?
- Does it also works without the car charger ? I mean is it powered up by the PocketPC device ?
Chris
Why do you even need an FM transmitter when you can stream* almost any radiostation out there via mms, pls or rtsp protocols using free TCPMP player, for instance. All of them have links of that sort on their websites.
*Assuming that you have a decent data plan, of course.

Transmitter.... not reciever. However I kinda agree why do you need to connect the phone to the radio? Isn't that the point of the speakerphone? Thats what I use when driving,
this is supposed to be the best?...please get that outta here...try this the motorola t505..fm transmitter and bluetooth speaker phone all in one..and its wireless....google it..I just bought one and IT IS THE BEST hands down!

I agree. I bought this one about a month ago and it is the best FM Transmitter I have ever used. The signal is so strong that I hardley ever hear any static, even if I am streaming to a live radio station. I use mine every day as I am always on the road for my job - average 5 hours a day connected through bluetooth and streaming music from my phone to my stereo using the FM transmitter and only have to charge the thing once a week. This is the best one I have found so far and I have tried dozens of different ones.
Also - No interferance from the phone when you get a call unlike many of the other FM Transmitters I have tried - (NO Buzzing at all like you can sometimes get when phone call comes through when your phone is near a speaker or using a cheap fm transmitter) I use mine with my HTC Touch and Love it.
For my 2 questions, I have contacted the product manufacturer, the response it NO, for the 2 questions :-(
But they are thinking about making a new version, with charging capability of the HTC.. so maybe good new in the near future.

Looks nice, but I have already ordered (and waiting for it) this:
http://www.tekfun.com.tw/eng/product.php?mode=show&cid=2&pid=193
It is also a FM transmitter for HTC that is able to charge the PocketPC at the same time ! but do agree I would have prefered a smaller device than this.

I live in Europe (France) and i have only a 5 MB data plan... Other things to do than spending a lot of money in my phone to receive the FM OTA !!!
So i use ONE FM X-Mitter with both of my cars...
You're not alone, in India !
PS : I use a GRIFFIN 6106-TRPUNPLS as i don't want to activate A2DP on my Prophet

OK I just tested it and this is what I did. I went into my bluetooth settings and for the T 505 I unchecked the box for handsfree and then paired it with my phone. I played my music and it streamed perfectly through the T 505 to my stereo. I then paired my bluetooth headset and placed a call to myself. The music still paused automatically when the call came through and the call was sent to my bluetooth headset and not to the T 505. After I disconnected the call, the music on the phone resumed and continued streaming through the T 505 to my car stereo. So I was able to connect and use multiple bluetooth devices at the same time with my phone and specify which device will do what - Stream music to T 505 and calls to Headset. You should be able to do the same - Stream music only through the T 505 to your stereo and your calls to your built in factory Bluetooth carkit it you want. Really there would be no need to use the built in car kit though unless your factory carkit displays caller ID information. The T 505 does not : However, I think it might speak the caller ID Number to you when a call comes in. I do not subscribe to caller ID to keep the cost of my cellular plan down so I can't really tell you how that works.
Let me know if this was helpful.

I am new in motorola and was hoping someone can help me out with this small problem.
I have purchased 2 Moto T505( one for me and one for my GF). Whenever we receive a phone call, the T505 rings its own ringtone along with the phone ringtone. How can i disable the Moto ringtone(ennoying ascending tone and keep my phone ringtone to ring only)
Thx a lot
Any help is appreciated

I just assumed that it could not be done since it is built into the T505. I actually prefer it though as the phone ring tune is sometimes not loud enough to hear, but you will never fail to hear the Moto T505 ring
but they ring togetherrrr
At first, it worked only phone ringtone. then the moto ringtone came along.EXTREMELY ENNOYING. i mustve pressed something

Yeah, They have always rang together for me. If you can figure out how to get my ring tune to come throught the Moto nice and loud rather then the default moto ring, that I would really be interested in.
hmmm.well i use my car speakers, so its always loud.

That's what I mean. Currently, the Moto default ring is what comes thorugh the car speakers and my phones ringtone only plays through the phones built in speaker (Not loud enough for in the car)
i wish it was the contrary.i will try one more thing and see if it works out.But im almost 100% sure it can work without the moto ringtone.I just want to either set the moto to be either headphone or speaker via bluetooth.maybe thats the clue.
will try it tomo and tell u

I've been looking into those today but found out it doesn't charge the phone? Thats really odd.
They can be had on Ebay for 15 bucks CDN
Has anyone used one of these devices - ebay item 330270408584
How well does it work with a PPC ?
I would take a punt and get one, but apparently I will need adaptors to connect to my car (audi) which bumps the price to £61 !!!
In view of that, I want to know if the sound is crystal clear, connects automatically etc
XCarLink?

I have been looking at these on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=160283183151
£75 and you get an MP3 player that interfaces to a standard Audi head-unit (see the list) and emulates a 2nd CD-Changer. It also has a BlueTooth adapter that allows you to stream audio from your phone to it (A2DP?) as well as apparently acting as a hands-free car-kit.
I use TomTom Navigator on my HTC Kaiser and would like to know about how functional it is when used in this combination - i.e. Use Media Player or Audio Manager on the PDA to play music whilst running TomTom and also use it as a hands-free kit for the phone. I have verified that using the internal speaker you can play music and also use TomTom and the the instructions are just played over the music. I just don't want to get one and find out its cr4p.
I have asked the question on a couple of forums but not had any good responses yet. I have a 20% off voucher for eBay (as long as PayPal is used) so I can get £15 off the £75 which brings it down to £60. However £60 is still £60 and if it's rubbish......
Andy
looks good
I've got an Audi too. Here are a few pics of my iO Play setup which supports the handsfree and headset profies (HSF/HSP) as well as the stereo music and remote control profiles (A2DP/AVCRP). In all honesty though, this was a custom (ie non plug and play) setup. So I did do some custom wiring to get this to work. I think though, if you have an older non-Bose Audi, this might be plug and play.

IO play looks good but is gonna be about £150
I like the look of xcarlink but it doesn't say much about its bluetooth operation
I want to keep using S2P as my preferred MP3 software because the cover flow is superb
Therfore I dont want to reorganise my folders as xcarlink suggests, but if the bluetooth A2DP works, I shouldn't have too
Can you take a punt on the xcarlink as you have the 20% voucher
I'm sure if it didnt work out, you could resell on ebay for the purchase price as you bought it for less money

I'm very tempted to try the xcarlink
Bluetooth Module?
As far as I can work out the Bluetooth module is an afterthought and is entirely external. The XCarLink doesn't actually have any Bluetooth intelligence as the module just plugs into the AUX port - like a 'dumb' MP3 player connected directly with a stereo jack plug (I assume there has been some minor modification to get power to the module though?).
I have been searching for a manual or installation guide and can't find anything useful. I am tempted to just get one with my 20% discount and see how it works - its still £60 though
If anyone has any experience with one of these or has any links I would be grateful.

It does appear to be a different unit than the non bluetooth version. It looks like a mini usb socket for the bluetooth module, while the non BT version has a 3.5mm headphone input

Yes, thats what I thought. If you look at the cables that get supplied with it there is a mini-USB to 3.5 stereo audio jack as well. I assume they have just used the extra pins in the mini-USB (if that's indeed what it is?) to power the BT module.
Still not sure whether to get it or not

That looks good but suffers from the same issue (albeit opposite) as the XCarLink does emulating a CD Changer - i.e. if you are not listening to the radio (i.e. your BT kit) then you won't be notified that a call is coming in.
I have also bitten the bullet and ordered an XCarLink with BT, with my 20% discount I got it for £59.80 (unless customs hit me for any import duty....).
I'll post a review when I manage to get it fitted...

On the other hand, if you are not listening to the radio via the BT kit, then you probably haven't got the phone currently paired with the device anyway, in which case you will be notified just like normal. Also, if you set the phone to vibrate you will always be notified that way regardless.
In my experience, this device doesn't "suffer" from anything.

OK, but with a 'proper' car kit interfaced with the Phone input on the head unit you would be notified regardless of what you were listening to. In my experience if Led Zeppelin or AC-DC gets played on the radio station I am listening to I immediateley up the volume which will drown out the phone ringer. With either the XCarLink or the Motorola BT device you use there will be no interuption which there would be with a regular car kit like a Parrot dur to the way it interfaces with the HU.
In Manchester (UK) we now have a classic Rock station (Rock 106.1) and Led Zepellin and AC-DC are on quite often....

All received and almost there
I have the sound working via the line in socket
I'm struggling to get it talking to my phone
I've plugged the bluetooth module into the xcarlink (nothing else connected)
I pressed the button on the bluetooth module. Some beeps came through the stereo and a partnership was set up, however no music or phone calls
Any ideas - think it's likely to be a feature of wm6 than a fault with the xcarlink

Replying to my own post...
I have to go to
Settings/Bluetooth then tap and hold the xcarlink device until the menu appears
Then select "set as wireless stereo"
Seems I have to do this each time. Which is a shame, but I know this is the XDA rather than the xcarlink. Does anyone know an automatic way ?
Perhaps a task for Mortscript - but that will be a whole learning curve
Acually, it may be the xcarlink that's your issue, I have some A2DP accessories that search for my phone as soon as they are turned on, and I have some that don't.
However, how is the xcarlink's A2DP sound quality? Do all AVCRP remote control commands work properly? Also, does it have any handsfree capabilities?

I'm interested to buy a new car stereo, in the way to stream directly the music from mine Desire over bluetooth. Someone got some experience about it? I would look to buy an used car stereo from ebay for this... any clue?
I have a kenwood KDC-X8016BT
does almost all.
can use the headset buttons to change the music being streamed via BT on phone OR other wy around.
Handsfree
voice dial
etc etc
the only thing I don’t like is.... when scrolling through the phonebook via the headset.... you can't use the first letter shortcuts .... you have to scroll them all from a to z. But you can set 10 numbers to the one push favorites button...
If I were you I'd only believe it works when you see it works... My desire reboots when connected to my carstereo via bluetooth / a2dp since the Froyo 2.2 upgrade.

Really ? I use my Desire with Pioneer BT600 everyday for internet radio, spotify, calls. Never had a reboot at all everything fine with mine, on Leedroid 2.1a atm
So, normally a stereo with a Bluetooth connection "should be" compatible with the Desire?
I have the JVC KD-R901 and the bluetooth streaming works fine, as does hands free calling with the Desire.
Good to hear! someone got another experience with Desire + one car stereo with Bluetooth?
Another question, can two different bluetooth devices work together or there would be a conflict? for example using the Desire plus this remote for the radio:

I have a JVC KD-BT11 few years old now but very good and never had any problems. Works very well with the desire both for calls and music.
Connects within seconds of turning starting the car and also works with the steering wheel controls in the car to skip tracks on the phone etc.

I use the Sony MEX-BT3800U with me desire and it works really well via Bluetooth. It even has a front USB socket for direct access to the SD card and is even strong enough to charge the phone too.

The Stereo needs a minimum Bluetooth revision to be compatible with the Desire? for example the Bluetooth 1.1 or 2.0?

bump, no one know?
I just bought a new car stereo with Bluetooth 1.1 and 2.0 with A2DP (Marquant MCR-1257) but I got problem to play the music from mine Desire, can someone help me?
I connected the two devices together, then the instructions said that I need to change the autoradio mode (there are Radio, Aux, and BT-Play mode) but only the first two are selectable.
What I have done wrong? how did you connected the Desire with your stereo?
After some settings I finally connected the music via Bluetooth...but...
DAMN SUONDS SO BAD
The music volume is lower then the AUX mode, and there's this costant background sound that ruins the sound so much
It's that normal that Bluetooth sounds so bad? Als digital sounds should not be better compared to the Aux?

That doesn't sound normal. I've had a similar sound problem with stereo headphones when it thinks the headphones are mono headset. Rebooting both devices and reconnecting helped.

Check the media volume on the phone is set to full whilst you are streaming over Bluetooth.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
I tryed both, I disconnected and riconnected the device from zero, I checked the volume level (max) but it's still sounds worst (quality and volume) compared to AUX.
Any other clue?
i got a pioneer and all is good. even downloads my phone book so no rooting through phone when driving to make a call. Best advice is to go to a proper car stereo place and ask them for advice as they have seen and done it. from my experience stay away from halfords. Talk to these guys http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/store-finder.htm they have always been able to help me with anything
Resurrection of post
So for bringing back a relatively old post, but I am about to invest a considerable amount of money into my car stereo system, and am looking for the perfect head unit for the following:
Samsung Galaxy S I9000 to work with A2DP for streaming music and making calls (needs phonebook reading etc)
Ipad to work with Apple Connector direct to headunit (Mainly for audio, however Video playback would be awesome via the Apple Video Connector)
AUX input for other people's devices
DAB Radio
USB port for flash disk
Do you think all these requirements can be satisfied with one super mega ultra headunit?
Sorry for posting in this forum despite my lack of a Desire, however I couldn't find a similar topic in the I9000 forum!
Thoughts on a postcard perhaps?

Bucketchem,
I'm also considering buying a Kenwood KDC-8016BT to use with my Android phone. Can you confirm how the voice dialling works that you quote it can do? The manual on the Kenwood website implies that only the KDC-X7016/KDC-X7016L can perform voice dialling calls (perhaps because this unit uses the external Bluetooth box which may be higher spec’ed that the one built into the KDC-X8016BT? Anyway, it seems strange that the higher spec'ed unit overall couldn't do this. Can you please confirm voice dialling is indeed a feature of the KDC-X8016BT? If so, does it require pre recording of voice tags (as the Kenwood manual implies is required for the KDC-X7016/KDC-X7016L) or does it just activate the voice dialler built into the phone - thus the intelligence for the voice dialling is in the phone rather than the car stereo?
Thanks,
David.

can use the headset buttons to change the music being streamed via BT on phone OR other wy around.
Handsfree
voice dial
etc etc
the only thing I don’t like is.... when scrolling through the phonebook via the headset.... you can't use the first letter shortcuts .... you have to scroll them all from a to z. But you can set 10 numbers to the one push favorites button...

Pro:
I can listen to music wirelessly in my car.
When someone calls, phone sound comes through phone, keeping privacy.
Phone stops playing music automatically when engine is off.
Cons:
I have to connect to belkin manually but I was able to set a short cut so that 2 touches will do it. -> Possible solution: App called tasker can automatically turn on bluetooth when docked and find belkin and connect automatically.
Want to set up so that when someone calls, I get phone sound via jawbone bluetooth headset but its not easy to swap back and forth
Total money spent: about $60.
Any other idea?

You might be able to rig up some tasker profiles to make it easier to connect when you get in your car and easier to switch between radio and your headset when someone calls.

Tasker is a crazy app that is hard to get used to at first. You set up actions to take place based on certain triggers. Actions include just about anything. -Turning settings on or off such as WiFI, BT, GPS, ringer, etc. etc. as well as many other things. Triggers for these actions could be things like location (GPS, Cell Tower triangulation, Cell Near, WiFi near, ect) or something like being docked (which would work well in your case if you have the TB car dock), openeing a certain application, or even a custom widget which you make and stick on your homescreen somewhere.
I haven't gotten too deep into it myself. I have WiFi turn on when I'm home then off again when I leave based on a Cell Near context and turn GPS on when I open Maps. It can get as complicated as you want. You'd be best checking out the site. http://tasker.dinglisch.net/
@gohamstergo
I manually have to connect.
It stays at "paired but not connected status" so I have to press "Belkin D02" in bluetooth settings menu.
I was able to put "bluetooth setting" as shortcut and put that in my dock so that it only requires 2 touches.

Wow, tasker is kinda confusing. It's got a lot of options but it's hard to figure it out
I do have a car dock.
is it possible to set up so that "when docked in car" -> "Connect Belkin D02" ? I couldn't find the option where I can specifically call which bluetooth device I want to connect to.

what you could do instead, is start with bluetooth off, set tasker to turn on bluetooth when docked, and it should auto connect since it scans for devices when bluetooth is first turned on... could try that. (to test, turn your car power on and cycle bluetooth, see if it connects automatically). then set taskers end action (which would happen when undocked) to turn bluetooth off.
also gojoecho, after you reply to me, try to paste the links in my post to your OP. you might have enough posts.

Thank you for your idea. I'll also try to see if there's a way to turn off the bluetooth when phone is out of the dock.
At first I want to apologize if someone already asked this question but I haven't found any Thread with this problem.
I have been using Miui now and then and never really had problems with my headphones. At least no problems I could not resolve with "Headset Blocker".
But for the last 3 weeks or so every Miui rom I try (wheter original or optimized by the cookers here on XDA) has this headphone Problem.
It feels as if the DHD recognizes the Headphones as Headset and jumps through the music. This happens sometimes on Cm7 or Sense-roms too but could always be solved with "Headset Blocker".
It's just jumping through the tracks but no calling any numbers or something.
Anybody with the same Problem or a Solution ?
Tom
Headphones are incompatable. A set without a mic has 3 connections on the plug. The larger band grounds out 2 connections on the phone and causes this. You need headphones with 4 connections. This is not an mp3 player. It is a phone. So in fact you do need a headset and not just headphones.
Thanks for the answer.
I think the Dhd is not just a phone but a multimedia-tool and as this it should work with normal headphones too.
Sense-, cm7 and previous miui Roms did also work with them so why did they suddenly decide to only support headsets ?
I played a bit with the phone and the music seems to work if it's lying on the back and not moving or held in front of you. But its skipping tracks if i turn it clock- or counterclockwise or rotate it back or forth.
Any idea why?
It is because your headphone jack with the longer contact is bridging together 2 contacts. When the phone is bumped or moved, it moves the jack just enough and the connection bounces (a quick on and off and so on) so the phone thinks you are pressing the button like on the original headphones. Look at the pics and you will see what I mean.
Picture of correct connector

Now you see what I mean about the longer contact that will bridge 2 connections together. This is not a good thing. Shorting together 2 pins that are not supposed to be connected is NEVER a good thing. If you want to use your current headphones then I suggest picking up something like this.
It also depends on the music app you are using. A different music app that does not have remote control (pause, skip tracks) may not have these issues.
Of you knew anything about Electrics you would know that by grounding something you aren't "shorting "it and its a phone problem not a headset problem, I have noticed this aswell so you are not the only one

Thank you Agoattamer. I think I can follow you and it seems reasonable.
But do you know why this don't happen at Sense or cm7 Roms but at the Miui ones? This is the point I don't get. If the Headphones were the reason shouldn't it happen everywhere?

Maybe you need to learn something about electronics before you open your mouth and contradict someone who does. Above I did say "grounding" and should have said "shorting". Better choice of words. But in fact that is what you are doing as that one connector is a ground so you are grounding the mic connector. It is NOT a phone problem, it is an incompatable headphone issue. And it is "electronics" and not "electrics". I have a degree in electronics. Do you? So shows much of your intelligence.
So you would say shorting? No its grounding the connection, and no that wouldn't make it skip track as the Mic would just be registered as not there, unless something has changed in recent year's that means a ground connection is active
Ignore me I just realised I'm a tway and appologise I forgot it had buttons on a headset

It does happen with sense ROMS FYI. It depends on the music app you are using. If the app has remote control using the stock HTC headphones like the stock HTC app it will do it. Most people notice it that when they first plug the earbuds in the music app will start automatically. Some music apps do not have remote control and you will not notice it. Also as your jack on the phone loosens up it will allow the 3.5 plug to move a little more causing this bounce.

Dude why don't you listen for once instead of speaking of something you know nothing about. It has always been this way. It is the mic control that causes the skipping of tracks. It is designed that way. When the mic goes to ground it causes the track to advance to the next song in some music apps. In other music apps it causes the music to pause and unpause or even activate the music app. And some apps that do not have remote control it has no effect. Even the iphone uses the same type of headphones.
Edit: I see your response and now know you understand. Not sure what a tway is but that is good enough for me. lol. Still good info for others to understand what is happening.

Smartphones are designed so when the Mic/control pin and ground pin are shorted, it knows that a headphone has been connected and not a headset. Fudge with the headphone not plugged in all the way and on cm7 you'll see the icon go from headphones to a headset. Those pins are MENT to be connected when headphones are plugged in as part of the phones detection system. That's why I can talk on my phone using the phones mic when headphones are in. If my phone always assumed headsets were in then the phone would automatically turn off the onboard mic expecting the headphones to have one. I may not have the same phone but I use my Evo every single night as an mp3 player and it doesn't cause problems unless my headphone comes out of the Jack. It occasionally will skip a track if it bumps it funny when its part way out.
Tl;Dr the mic pin is designed as a detection pin as well so the phone knows if it has standard headphones or a headset plugged in and having normal headphones plugged in won't mess anything up. Phones are designed with users using standard headphones in mind

Very correct. But a looser jack will cause the bouncing which causes the OP's issue. If the jack was nice and tight and you were careful to not move it much then you would experience no ill effects. Did not know about the detecting part. Thanks for the added info. We all learn something every day.
Thx guys that was really interesting.
I will try different music apps and hopefully the miui app doesn't interfere with them
Or is there a way to block the remote control of the standart music app? Then it should work too or am I wrong?
Anything is possible. You may have to decompile the app and look there. Or it could be elsewhere. Would be much easier getting an adapter or another set of earbuds with the correct connector.
There is a option to disable headset buttons and response, I can't remember where on miui, I use poweramp and there is a option in there to disable all headset functions
