Anyone know which is the best radio out there on T-Mobile with out data drop fast and stable just flashed xxk6 but it seems that the radio that was on aokp m5 was faster but had the data drop when coming off wifi
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium App
What kind of download speeds are you clocking? I am also on t-mobile in Reno and am getting 3.5mbps.
aokp 5 doesnt include a radio, meaning it doesnt override.
you have a outdated radio, try XXLA02, UGLC1.
WiFi is controlled by kernel
xxla2 works well for me.
I was getting about 7 up and 2 down but I had the data drop with xxk6 I'm getting 4 down and barely 1 up, but with xxk6 data drop seemed to stop when coming off wifi I'm going to try the latest radio see what happens

well yeah thats the thing you were using 4.0.4 using a older radio, this usually doesnt have any problems but it may cause a conflict. kinda like how 4.0.2/4.0.3 had problems with XXKK1
Yea makes sense I didn't really know if aokp came all ready with updated radio

Nope. I haven't seen a ROM that replaces a user's radio (well except stock OTAs!).
Radios are manually updated via fastboot or recovery (fastboot preferred)
Same goes with bootloader. Bootloader I recommend flashing through fastboot ONLY.

Hey guys
So I bought this phone on Craigslist so I cannot have it replaced by verizon. When I got it I did a full wipe and reset. Then I installed franco's kernal and am currently running bugless beast with job 4.1.1.. The issue is that my signal is constantly disappearing or just poor in general.
I found a method that was supposed to fix this problem by raising the minimum CPU to 700mhz. But this did nothing.
Will installing a new radio help? If so which one do you recommend? Or am I just screwed?

I have found that using the stock 4.0.2 radios has helped me a lot. They have given me a 70% improvement in dropped signal and poor audio quality. Having said that its still way worse than any other 4g phone I have ever owned. Lol. (Bionic, revolution,Droid charge, Droid razr, rezound, thunderbolt)
PS I am on my second nexus, still does it.

This is good news! Now my question is this. Once this update drops, will our best course of action be to go back to stock and update via ota? And then flash back to custom ROM? Or will flashing back to a custom ROM override the new baseband?

If the screenshot in that article means anything, the new update still has the FC04/FC05 radios. Maybe they tweaked the stock ROM a bit for better reception, but if that's the only change then the update won't help anyone running a Jelly Bean ROM. You'd be forced to go back to stock for the better reception.

I have extensive knowledge on this issue its your baseband version if its 09 your good your radio will be great. You have 10. Check under your settings and you will see. Its under baseband version in about phone. Good news is you can return to Verizon.just don't tell them u bought it on Craigslist. I returned mine off CL.

Nope the store can't do anything for you. You have to call tech support and say you have a horrible data issue. Then they will mail you a new one. Return to factory before you call that way if they ask questions regarding , build number, etc. you'll have it to read .

Based upon this sentence, I question your "extensive knowledge". I'm running with an i515.09 hardware revision and have garbage reception.
It's a per phone basis.
I have zero signal issues.

Compared to other nexus's or are you in a bad reception area? I'm not gonna argue w you but I went through 8 replacement nexus and the only one that worked was a 09 and based off EXTENSIVE internet research that seems to be the case w almost everyone.

I've had the signal problem with both the 9 and 10. My first phone was a 10 with no problems. I have a 9 now with no problems, but had both with problems in between.
One work around I found was to switch to cdma only. Not great to not have 4g but at least data works and no dropped calls.

That's very odd cause on the 8 replacements I went through, none ever had no problems , the problems were consistent. That's odd that you had a phone with no problems and it started acting up. The 10 and 9 are made in different places from what I've been told from Verizon, and the 09 supposedly dont have the radio issue. Out of all the replacments I got, the first one (and only) to work was a 09 from Korea.

i'm sorry but anyone noticed the issue of the new UVLH1 update or i'm the only one? when i make a call i have no sound on the phone neither to know that i'm connected with the other side nor to hear him?? even if it's not all the time but it's annoying sometimes to make 3 or 4 call to have one!! anyone have the same issue or a solution please?? i'm on UVLH1 rooted
Might be a bad install. Try wipe cache and fix permissions
That will do. If not reinstall and so the wipe again

i tried almost every thing, i tried to wipe cash, to do a factory reset, to reinstall the rom, still the same problem
This problem happened again for me as well, but only on cdma. Try switching your phone to gsm only and see if it functions. That is what seemed to fix mine. (I know, not really a fix. I am just curious if the problem is a bug in the new radio.)

You need a custom recovery and you need to know how to use it (the recovery you have).
Again, towle has a sticky with mirrors MANY helpful downloads. a flashable zip of uvle1 radio was in it the last time I checked.
If you don't know how to check if a flashable radio has a ril then flash the radio, THEN your ROM. Custom ROMs tend to have custom rils and it is best not to overwrite them.
----
As an end note, I'm using lh1 and have been on every ROM I've used (tried too many to remember), not everyone has issues; it may depend on the area you are in.

I agree!!!!
I just Re-flashed both my phones to GINGERBREAD 2.3.6 UVLDE That I got from Here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=4798 using the ODIN software and a great walk though found Here: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-t-mobile/628449-how-odin-any-stock-rom.html
So far, we haven't had any calling issues as of yet....Plus, the phone is super fast again!! I noticed that with ICS on the phone, and Factory Reset with nothing on it, My RAM was tipping between 500-600 MB of use!! and now that we are back to Gingerbread, it's at 295-340MB....Which is a HUGE difference!!!!!
Let's hope, that maybe it might be defective SIM cards or chips like you said, but I am also tired of wiping these phones and starting all over again!!! I think Im gonna stay with GB for now......It's woking as intended anyway...
I'm having this issue where when i make or receive a call at times there is no sound and either party cannot hear. This happened to me on GB too. After monitoring it for a long time, i figured that it only happens when inside home where i get poor reception and not outside or places with good reception.
When i'm at home i usually get 1-2 bars of signal. Often, when i get a call and i don't get any sound, i look at the signal strength and it is at 4 bars but as the call disconnects it drops back to 2 and then if i make or receive the call then it goes fine.
I searched around the net i see this issue is with S3 users too, when they have poor reception they do not get any sound on call. I'm thinking that it has to do something with the radio hardware or holding reception in low reception areas.
I was wondering what solutions you all have found for low signal on the i9250...
I've noticed even outside in the open I still don't get full bars. Just seems a little strange.
I'm on AT&T with stock 4.2.2 and live not even a mile from a cell tower...

Common misconception, all you need to do is unlock your bootloader, you don't need to root.
Granted, unlocking your bootloader wipes your sdcard and factory resets your device.
I'm actually factory unlocked, I bought mine straight from Google. So that shouldn't be a problem.

Done. Reboot.

What would happen? It just resets your profile on the network and pushes a new PRL 'if one is available' to your device.

You need to clean flash an earlier build of carbon Rom. Something on or before 9/25.
You can try changing the apn settings and see if you get 4g to work.
