Did my notification light just stop working? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello.
I just ran into something that simply baffles me. It seems my notification LED has simply stopped working. Yes, I've checked / double checked / triple checked settings on the phone: it's on.

I had been using the oft-recommended Light Flow (Lite, still, since I was trying to test it a few days first) and it was working wonderfully. Now, it simply says no colors were found.
I emailed the developer to ask what he thought but... I tried another app designed to turn on the light (Galaxy Nexus LED) and it didn't work, so I'm positive it's not the app.
Has anybody else had this experience? Any ideas what could be causing this?

so you've done nothing else? no other changes to the phone and it just stopped working?

Nothing. The phone has a few apps installed, not rooted, haven't even gotten around to unlocking the bootloader yet. Only two apps that could control the LED are the ones I mentioned (other than Settings, duh).

Edit again: lol nvm you dont need to be im sleepy 2:20am, im gonna stop here haha

Per Light Flow's initial setup instructions, have you gone into the "accessibility" area and enabled Light Flow in there? Or tried disabling/enabling it and rebooting?

Try clearing Light Flow app data from manage apps, and then set it up again.

The phone doesn't even have a week with me. :-(

I guess it is possible it is broken. I would test a clean wipe before resting on that conclusion though.
Does it even work using the default management system?
Google Talk messages will flash yellow.

Which ROM are you using? Do you have "quiet hours" set up? If this is active it might be interfering with your LED.

Stock and no, no quiet hours.
I thought about solving it how I'd solved many problems with my myTouch 3G and G2 before: clearing the Dalvik cache. So, I got my **** together, unlocked, rooted, and installed ClockworkMod just to clear the Dalvik (is there any other way? I don't think so).
It solved it. LED is now working fully. It's really interesting though, how it simply stopped working "just because". I do not understand.

I have same problem. Im in minko rom now, 4.1.1 rooted. The led just stopped. I clear all dalvik and other cash, but cant run...

Light flow issues

I simply can't get this thing to work consistently..
It will only work if i open the Light flow app and go to notifications, then I can press home button and go back to my home screen but as long as the light flow app is still in the 'multi task' it will work, once I'll swipe it from there it stops working.
Also - when I check for 'Light flow' in the 'running services' under 'apps', it is still there, even after I've swiped it from the multi task , saying '1 process and 1 service', but it will not work unless I open the app itself and go into notifications...
Info -
It only started after the JB update..
I am not running any task managers etc..
I am rooted, stock 4.1.1 JB
I tested it with Gmail, charging etc..
This really sucks.. Am I the only one??....
Since the update that was meant to fix Jelly Bean issues, I've had no issues. Its working well for me.

Got a responce from the dev:
"Hi
At the moment for some reason in jelly bean swiping away the app causes the app to stop working. It'll show in the services as android restarts it on the crash, but it's lost its state until you re-enter the app to initialise it.
I'm looking into a fix for that.
I've sent a simple test case over to one of the top android framework*designers as they picked up on a post I placed into their support forums about it.*

Charging LED [MOD]

A awesome guy from sprint nexus made a flashable led package for me. I asked if I could share with the world and I will.
Make a NanDroid
I recently flashed two ROMs and tried the mod
I received a bootloop "frozen" technically..
I used this on Paranoid Android Jelly Bean
It does work but I believe it will on work on certain ROMs
This Mod lights up your LED's Via Charging or Charged
I got the original author's permission to post. Please credit garyd9 with the authorship. Without whom, we would not have the hack to fix the charging LED.

So please thank these two guys.

Glad that this stuff works for others. All this modification does is to add support for the BATTERY "virtual" LED at a lower level. AOSP (within framework.jar) already has support for using that LED if it exists. (And that code runs regardless of if the virtual LED is supported or not.)
Take care

My apologies ahead of time if this topics been touch on already, but theres a hidden diagnostic mode on the sgs3. You go into the phone app and dial *#0*# and you'll get this cool diagnostic tool to help ensure you device is running normal. I've returned 2 sgs3's due to faulty sub key touch buttons and dead pixels using this and I just thought I'd share.

Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium
Any app that uses accessibility causes this. (ex. Liteflow, tasker, floating notifications) it's a Samsung issue and not the app. Supposedly Samsung was working on a fix but I call bs. You can get rid of the voice by using titanium backup to freeze google text-to-speech and Samsung text-to-speech. But there still some more problems it causes like when playing a video the notification bar won't go away unless you rotate the screen, and the gallery when you are looking at an image, all the thumbnails won't go away.

I don't use the stock browser but I just installed it again and you are right that does announce everything. However the stock launcher does not.
Meaning, I should be able to edit the browser and completely remove this.
And I was in contact with the developer of light flow as I was liking his accessibility service to detect when apps are entered and was going to use this in my own app but after he showed me all the emails and communication with Samsung about the issue, I opted for another method.
I am pretty confident I can remove this from the stock launcher though.

Flash ring for gnex ?

I always wanted my gnex to be able to flash when receiving phone calls with the camera flash like the iPhone has as one of its built in options.I tried like a dozen play store apps that do the same thing but none of them work for my galaxy nexus, does anyone know of one that actually works or a custom rom that has this feature.I know the gnex has the notification pulse light at front but camera flash would be better to also have.
That would consume more battery than you think, also I doubt that's a sensible idea. Last thing you need is a lighthouse when someone decides to call you at 4am in the morning. Vibration was invented to counter that.

You would only turn it on as you wanted, like when out at night in loud places where is hard to hear ect, vibration only works if you have phone close to body, light doesn't make a noise like vibration can yet you can still see a call come through.

Well light flow has the feature. Incase you're wondering. But I think it's for paid only.

Lol, my wife has the led flash ring option on her iPhone 5, I just wanted to try an get it on my gnex but your right probably wouldn't be too practical.
I used to have flashME installed and it worked on my G-Nex GSM. I think I had 4.1 or 4.2 at the time, so I don't know if it is 4.3 compatible or not. Definitely gets your attention!
