Lately I have been trouble with my data connection. While I'm browsing the web the connection will time out or I will loose my signal. This just started this week and the time of day seems to have no effect.
I am getting a mix of really high ping rates (600+Ms), some good pings and sometimes it fails to complete the test. All of these tests where done pretty much right after each other.
A lot of times when I go to access a page the upload arrow will light up and stay lit and the page never loads.
Is this normal or could I have a defective Gs2?

I had called T-Mobile about the problem and they said they would reset my connection. I thought that had helped at first but I guess it hasn't. I have also tried doing a factory reset. But nothing makes a difference.

honestly does it make a difference when you surf around or download anything?

Yes. A lot of times it will not connect at all. Or it will load half the page and then loose its connection.

I used to remember how to do it on my nexus, but I forgot what it was. I'm pretty sure it was just a number or something.
Edit: just realized I posted in the wrong forum, sorry bout that.

I noticed this too and was wondering why. It seems to me that as long as you are actively using data BEFORE you place or answer a phone call, the data connection stays active. If you use the phone before trying to use data (i.e. browsing the web), then the data connection goes away during a phone call.
Is it normal for the back of the phone (around camera) and the screen to get warm when using the phone?
Nothing strange in battery stats, I guess.

see the same under load, so yup sounds normal.
I've not had an android phone that didn't get warm while I was using it and I'm on my 4th one now.

Mine was a bit warm as well last night but I was downloading over 4G, texting, browsing and navigation..
But after I stopped it cooled down in like a minute or so.
My Nexus One got RIDICULOUSLY hot during navigation ALONE. Then the touchscreen would go haywire.
Any phones will tend to get warm during use. And looking at your screenshot, that's a normal load. Nothing to worry about.
I did a Google search for the same problem and got to this thread. I just got my Nexus yesterday and the top right hand side of the phone (I'm assuming that's where the Wi-Fi antenna is) got quite hot about 20 minutes into activating my device.
My phone downloaded about 600mb worth data over that period (downloading apps from the Market) so I assume that was the issue and didn't know if the phone was supposed to get this hot. I've been using the wi-fi sparingly since (no heavy data download) and it is not that hot now. Just wanted to share.
Mine also gets warm there, I assume it has alot to do with the modem as even if my screen is off and the phone is just acting as a hotspot, that area gets fairly warm.
I remember my Nexus S get warm sometimes, but very rarely and there was always a good reason for that (heavy downloading, buggy ROM, buggy app in some loop).
Thanks for the replies!
I'm wondering why this is happening, I've only made like two phone calls today, is this normal cuz i don't remember ever seeing phone draining that much battery.

you were talking with screen on... so 2 hours of screen time with 1:50 of phone time is kind of normal.

No I was not talking at all, i made two quick phone calls and that's it, and phone had never showed up using that much battery. Anyway I flashed darkside cache wipe and that seemed to fix it

Hows your reception? I know if i dont turn on airplane mode while at work "Phone" shows up just like yours does. I realized its cause i would constantly go in and out of service and when im out of service it would stay awake and never sleep. Plus at my dads house, HSPA is really weak, so i either must force 2G or 3G in order for my "Phone" to stop chewing up battery.

I was having this problem for the first day or two. I simply turned off mobile data for awhile and then turned it back on a few hours later and it only pops up now when receiving or sending an MMS (or when I leave the wifi signal, of course). Not sure if that's the fix or just a fluke.

This is across all phones I've used from time to time nothing to be concerned about it'll go away with time with no action on your behalf.

I figured out that its verizon's stupid CallerID app. It needs mobile data on to analyze incoming calls. It's not used, but its on. I disabled callerID and its not there anymore
I also thought it was the CallerID app and disabled it. However the issue re-occurs whenever I open the My Verizon Mobile app to work with my account. I tested it though by streaming some music for a while then checking my phones data usage in settings and it's not actually using mobile data.
My uncle's did the same thing when using Facebook app and then turning on wifi. Haven't had a chance to test his yet, but I'm pretty sure it's the same issue. Still, it's an annoying problem, especially when you get phone calls from the fam wondering why their phone's using 4g when on wifi
When my 4G won't turn off I just restart the phone and it does the trick. Doesn't happen very often for me though.

The below screen shot shows approx 8 hours is this 8 hours since phone was removed from charger ? I think so just want to confirm.
Also the gap in network signal. I am assuming this means at some point for a certain amount of time my phone didn't have a signal ? If true this would be most odd as I have a cel fi signal booster in my home.
Thanks.

Yes you are correct the phone was on battery power and the signal was lost in the gap. Was it put in airplane mode. That would disconnect the mobile signal

No wi fi calling always off. Phone was also never put in airplane mode. So basically looks like my radio turns off sometimes.

There is another thread somewhere with people complaining about this happening to them, too. It happens to me, I think its a reporting bug in kitkat, mine shows big gaps too, but never has it not been connected to a tower.
