Restore kindle fire after twrp2.0 to factory default without firefirefire

Hey I tried like many other people here to get twrp2.0 on to my Kindle Fire 6.2.2.
the twrp installation stocked at the Yellow Triangle. I set the boot normal option and I can Boot to the Kindle Fire OS.
But I still have the firefirefire boot loader with the Yellow Triangle on my Device when booting.
Is there any chance to remove it? I read some people did a update from 6.2.1 to 6.2.2. But I already have 6.2.2 installed. Is there any other way to remove it?
Or is there any other bootloader I can Use I would so like to install Android ICS on my Kindle Fire.

why do you want to remove it ?
it is your "safety net" to get to recovery in case of a failure !
fff and a recovery (twrp or cwm) are the most important things to have on a rooted kf to avoid realy complicated bricks

because it is not working I can not boot in to the recovery mode so it is useless for me I think so I just want to go back to the Original Firmware.

if you want to install a other rom then you need twrp
the trwp install failure is very common and very easy to fix:
download twrp from http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/twrp-blaze-2.0.0RC0.img
rename it to "recovery.img" and copy it over the bad file in the recovery folder of kfu
then do the install again - you'll see it works

I am curious about restoring the factory kindle software myself. Not because I don't like cm. Everything works great including firefirefire, twrp, and cm9. I have just installed cm on a few kindles that don't belong to me and I know sooner or later someone is going to say, "I want my original software back" I am assuming the process will be as easy as using twrp to install a stock.zip or similar for a stock rom? In the event they want to have the original kindle boot logo, will that be as simple as using adb to issue a simple DD if=stockboot.img of=/some/blkdev/on/kindle? Thanks in advance

I just restored to original stock kindle fire today. It is very easy, I'll list the steps below for anybody wanting to do this. You do need TWRP installed previously. The stock kindle fire logo is also restored.

1. Connect USB cable to Kindle Fire.
2. Mount it as USB Mass Storage mode.
3. At PC, rename Kindle Fire Software Update bin file to update.zip.
4. Copy update.zip to Kindle Fire SDcard (root level).
5. Turn off USB Mass Storage mode.
6. Unplug USB cable.
7. Power off Kindle Fire.
8. Power on it.
9. Press power button until light turn orange.
10. TWRP 2.0 Recovery will be loaded then.
11. Select Wipe.
12. Select Cache then Wipe cache.
13. Select Dalvik Cache then Wipe dalvik-cache.
14. Select Factory Reset then Factory Reset.
15. Go back to Home.
16. Select Install this time.
17. Then select update.zip.
18. Select Flash after that.
19. After installed, select Reboot System.

all u did was change bootmodes. u need to flash twrp or use my gscript method to install twrp or clockworkmod. look in the dev section.

I followed these instructions but TWRP 2.0 seems to be stuck. It says "Factory reset started" and then "Factory reset complete" twice. Then "E:Unable to open zip file." I renamed the bin file to Update.zip as instructed.
Is it OK to try and get out of this and reboot back to TWRP?

I face a similar issue. My KF automatically shut down and goes into the yellow triangle loop while watching YouTube. And it got stuck in the yellow triangle attempted to fastboo to normal boot. Within the few second it **** down and goes into the yellow triangle.
I just want to restore my kf to the stock firmware how can I do that.

I am having the exact same issues but my Kindle just reboots to the triangle randomly.
It all started when I decided to re-root after my system was updated to 6.3, I was on 6.2 when I first got the Kindle and I rooted with Burrito root and it worked fine. The only reason I rooted was so I could use the Android Market, which still worked fine after the system updated to 6.3, but stupid me had to make sure it was rooted so I used the Kindle Fire utility and that’s what hosed my Kindle. Never doing that again.
Anyway, I’m trying Justin’s steps above. Ill report what happens.

Looks like Justin's solution worked for me. I’m back to the factory and there is no TWRP menu when I reboot and it’s the original Kindle Fire image on bootup. Now I just need to see if I get anymore random shut down issues.

I renamed the download to update.zip, and I see it in the root folder, but when I boot into TWRP 2.1.1, I ca't see it in the root directory. I know I named it correctly because on my PC I can open it with an archiver... What am i doing wrong?

well i f'd up. i finally got twrp to install using a different file. however, it appears that i must've accidentally hit a wrong number when installing late last night, cause it appears i also have clockworkmod installed and it superceded twrp i guess.. can't load it. Anyone got any ideas on how to remove CWM with TWRP also installed. damn what a mess.

Trying to fallback using the latest image (6.3.2) from Amazon
I followed Justin's recipe with the exception of the Amazon load image version. I used the latest stable one instead.
My TWRP version is v2.5.0.0 - another potential difference and it might be significant (Justin never said what version of TWRP he started with).
What follows is what I saw upon executing Justin's steps 16-18.

[Q] Kindle Fire keeps looping Kindle Fire logo

So I've read the similar threads, no clear answer.
I've searched the forums with no real clear answer.
So before I continue, I just want to make sure that this is correct.
Kindle Fire turns on, I have fully charged it overnight, and it still boot loops. The Kindle Fire logo comes on, flashes on and off, logo shows again with the logo glimmering, and then turns off and back on. It starts the process over. Very rarely will it go all the way to the arrow that you slide but you can't ever slide it over to get in, it just restarts.
So from my understanding is that the shell is corrupt and I need a factory cable to force fastboot. Is this correct? Thank you for reading my post.

Not necessarily. If you are talking about the stock "Kindle Fire" logo. Skip to the second half.
If you are talking about the FFF1.3 Kindle Fire logo with the Andy above it, you should be able to get into recovery, so long as you flashed a recovery.
If this is the case, start the kindle and watch the power button. When it dims press it a few times. It should change to an orange/amber color after a few presses and then boot into your recovery. From there you can load a rom and get yourself back on track.
If you have the stock bootloader, I'm not sure this will work for you, but it won't hurt to try. Worst case you are out the time it took you to make the USB.
As I found out yesterday, fastboot occurs so quick that Windows might not have the chance to discover and install drivers. So if you have a USB drive, create a firekit LiveUSB.
Once you have a LiveUSB and have booted off it and started firekit, try running normal_boot and then, when powered off, plug the kindle into the computer. With luck, it will reboot and start up into your rom.
If you are unlucky, try install_fff_twrp. Again have the kindle off, and connect it to the USB.
If that does not work try again with install_fff_twrp_from_stock as a last ditch effort.
If that fails, get your factory cable. You can try the other commands too, but I wouldn't hold your breath. But, if it works great.

ok well first off when I first turn it on, I get the yellow fire warning sign that states at the bottom to push the power button for recovery.
I'm getting things to install just fine but anytime it has anything to do with ADB, it does not work. It doesn't work with a regular cable nor the factory cable. Everytime it states that device is not found.
From what I've read the drivers are working properly if I'm able to use fastboot and it shows up in the device manager as a Android Phone > Android ADB Device.
The only time I can keep it recognized by the computer is with the factory cable.
If I use the regular cable, it recognizes it for a second then boots into TWRP but the computer doesn't see the Kindle anymore.
All I'm needing to do is reinstall STOCK Firmware. When I first got it, it just boot looped.

Use the factory cable to change your bootmode to 4000. Reboot, then turn it off and let it charge. It sounds like you are stuck in fastboot mode (4002) with a dead battery, and if I'm not mistaken the device won't charge in fastboot. The factory cable forces fastboot mode, bypasses the battery and provides power directly to the device which is why you are able to issue fastboot commands with the cable.

When I am not working on it, I plug it back up to the charger to charge, so charging isn't the problem. TWRP states that the battery is 98% charged when I unplug it.

in twrp you have to manually mount the system and sd card from mount options!
Mount the sd card, save the kindle update bin file, renaming it to update.zip and install from twrp

[Note to self:] Avoid using XDA while on Ambien.

Not necessarily true when using Windows and KFU. Sometimes you still have to uninstall/delete your drivers and reinstall again.

If it boots directly into TWRP, then you have your bootmode set to recovery.

If all you want to do is reinstall stock this is easy to fix. Go to the Amazon Kindle website and download the latest 6.3 update. It will be in a .bin format.
Change the name of the update.bin to update.zip
Boot your Kindle to TWRP
Go to "Mount" and mount your SDcard
You should see "[X] Unmount Sdcard" before pressing "Mount to USB"
Your device's sdcard will show up on your computer
Place the newly renamed update.zip on your sdcard
Go to "Install" and flash the update.zip
When installed, the update.zip will turn everything back the way it was when you turned it on for the first time.

In TWRP, it will not let me select Mount SD Card, it will only let me select Mount System. :X

The only option I know of besides Linux liveUSB Firekit, would require you to format your sdcard and you would lose all of your data. You might be able to mount your system folder to transfer files and just flash it in TWRP from there but I've never tried it. If that doesn't work and you don't mind erasing your whole sdcard...
Boot into recovery (TWRP)
Get your command prompt ready with adb in your present working directory (if you're not sure type: dir )
adb shell
echo /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file
That will mount sdcard to your computer like an external drive. You'll probably have to format it. In Windows, select Quick Format > FAT32 > block size 4096.
Just make sure that the volume you are formatting is your sdcard (>5Gb) You should be able to move your update.zip to it then.

May be am missing something here, but why can't he "adb push update.zip sdcard/Download" and Flash it from twrp?

I tried to install [JB 4.3.1] CM10.2/SGT7 [20131022] and now bootlogo CM is looping. Tried reinstall but result is the same. I can enter in FFF, TWRP is installed. What should i do?

Stuck in boot loop after failed root.

i was curious to get get android market on my kindle today.. and looked up how. i used the kindle fire utility to root it. then my KF it started to go into a loop of the boot logo. it just flashes on and flashes off over and over again.hard reset doesnt affect it at all, it wont even turn off unless i unplug it. it doesnt show up on my computer either.
i dont know if this helps but when i ran the Kf utility it said 'findstr' not recognized.. blah blah blah. and it didnt give me the 1234567 options on there. i just typed in '2' and pressed enter because thats what the video told me .-. it doesnt have a triangle, or a blue screen logo either just the kindle fire logo flashing off and on. I honestly am lost. please keep this noob friendly

How do you reinstall the drivers manually? and also when i go into the kindle fire utility it doesnt give me 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 options... it just says findstr is not a recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. and another thing i tried another utility on here and it said it said my device was not found when i plugged it in , is it because it turns off every 5 seconds?

First before you mess with your drivers shift+ right click on the tools folder in kfu select open command window here power your device off completely leave it unplugged type fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product when it says waiting for device plug in your powered off kindle it should then power on in fastboot mode if you get the response product: kindle then type fastboot -i 0x1949 oem idme bootmode 4000 it will say okay hopefully the type fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot it should then reboot in normal mode

Sounds like there's some sort of PATH problem with your setup, which is why KFU won't work properly. You'll have to manually use ADB/fastboot commands if you want to get things done.
About it turning off constantly, it's probably out of battery. Use the stock wall charger (it provides a greater power output, don't bother with USB or a random clone) so it can refill some. The bootloops may be due to a bad boot mode, but it's a bit hard to pinpont with your description of the issue.

You might have corrupt drivers. Here's how to reinstall them:
Try going to your Control Panel >> Device Manager. If you see an entry for "Android Phone," (Android ADB interface) delete it (and any associations with Portable Devices >> KF or Kindle Fire).
Restart computer.
Then go to your KFU utility folder, open "install_drivers.bat" (right-click "Run Administrator"). This shouldn't take long at all.
You might want to restart here too after.
Then open KFU utility, plug in Kindle - if all went well here, you should read something along the lines of "Online" and "4000".

I rooted my KF with no issues, was able to copy the Jellybean and Gapp zip file to the SD and thought I flashed with no issues. Then rebooted. Now the KF is stuck in a boot loop. If I boot to recovery, that works and allows me the recovery options. if I boot up to normal, it constantly reboots, if I boot to fastboot, it displays the Kindle Fire logo and says "press power button to boot menu" at the bottom and does nothing else. My computer recognizes it as Android ADB interface but will not allow to access the SD ram. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If so and the ROM is still in there, wipe cache, dalvik-cache, factory reset and system, then flash/install the ROM again (don't install gapps yet) and reboot. If it boots all the way to the desktop, reboot to recovery and install gapps.
You may also want to check the ROM's hash.
You haven't mentioned what versions of TWRP and FFF do you have, either. Hopefully 2.1.1 or 2.2 for TWRP and 1.4a (blue "fire" on the kindle fire logo) for FFF.

[Q] Kindle flashing and factory software

Hi everyone, I have two kindle fire, I messed with both of them.
I've root them the first one has the problem with the yellow triangle logo stucked. And the other one I've tried to reset it to the factory settings and everything was cool until I hit the TWRP utility and I think I erased everything.
I've see tons of posts regarding rooting and troubleshooting related to rooting and i'm pretty sick of rooting, I think that 3 months is sufficient time, please DON'T POST anything related to rooting.
I'm here asking if anyone knows how to flash all the data ofthe kindle from the pc and been able to install the factory software, firmware (I don't know) from scratch from my pc. Anyone, please?

The first one is probably stuck in fastboot. Try giving it a go with "fastboot oem idme bootmode 4000 && fastboot reboot".
For the second one, "I think I erased everything" is as descriptive as not wanting people to post about your procedure is helpful. What exactly is going on with it? For future reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1644970
You should also update both FFF and TWRP on both devices once they are working normally.

If i may suggest flashing modaco first after a good wipe everything except your sdcard I believe this will make a smoother transition if you desire to return to stock before returning to stock always do a good wioe to remove remnants of previous roms download the latest stock bin and rename it to update.zip do not place it in any folder just at the root of your sdcard flash in twrp this will also wipe out twrp and fff I really dont recommend doing this lots of people fail at doing the procedure correcty modaco is stock with only the market added try this approach first then you can retain fff and twrp for custom backups.

I really, don't want to try the adb commands (I've tried them before), nor follow any tutorial about root troubleshooting.
I'm really sick of them and of all that mal-functioning software that you have to download(Eg. (When it's not)>, Eternal loading Android Commander)

Read from "Reverting to stock software". You can manually rename the file and then copy it into the KF instead of using ADB for it, just make sure the extension is .zip and not .zip.bin (Windows hides extensions per default settings).

1. Download Kindle Fire Software Update Version 6.3.1
2. Rename the file to update.zip
3. Get in to TWRP and mount USB drive
4. Copy update.zip to Kindle Fire
5. Unmount USB drive
6. Do factory reset, then wipe system cache, and dalvik cache
7. Flash the update.zip
8. Let it bootloop about 3 times or so...
If you want FFF and TWRP then flash Stock 6.3.1 Basic from TWRP. This has no root or gapps.

Read from "Reverting to stock software". You can manually rename the file and then copy it into the KF instead of using ADB for it, just make sure the extension is .zip and not .zip.bin (Windows hides extensions per default settings).

When trying to execute the adb shell commands all I get is:
- exec 'system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
I've also tried, fastboot update | flash | boot | flash:raw
This is with one kindle, with the other one, I can't even get the PC to recognized it as a USB
Is there any tool, that really erases everything and take the stock ROM to be installed again? Software, script?

Ahh, that's a bother. It's a pretty annoying error. Could be something messed with your TWRP (I'm assuming you tried the commands from there).
There isn't one, but there's really no need for it... you just rename the ROM to update.zip, wipe cache, dalvik-cache and factory reset, and install update.zip. If you just want to flash stock because you like it better for whatever reason, you could also just look at the MoDaCo custom ROM instead, as it is stock based.
As for the other KF... you can't get it recognized, from where? The ROM? TWRP? Fastboot?

Both of the kindles, are damaged. I can't access them. I just can access one by USB.

For future reference:
This user's issues have been partially dealt with.
The first KF will require a factory cable to be fixed.
The second KF was soft bricked (there were a few corrupt partitions) after a bad flash attempt of the stock ROM. Luckily, FFF was still installed, but the Windows fastboot drivers weren't. Reinstalled FFF+TWRP from Firekit, and then fixed the partitions, wiped and flashed the stock ROM.

Ok, So, I have the factory cable. How can I test its Ok?
I have another question, the kindle is pratically empty no system, no sdcard memory, probably corrupted ¿How do I use the factory cable, to format the Kindle and install the Stock ROM again?

With the KF off and unplugged, type "fastboot getvar product" on a shell (KFU/tools).
Then plug in the KF using the factory cable. If you get anything listed or returned, it should be working fine. Otherwise, if you wait a few seconds and still nothing, you'll have to check the drivers to make sure the correct fastboot ones are installed.
To check the partitions, you can just "fastboot boot twrp.img" to load a TWRP into memory, and then "adb shell parted /dev/block/mmcblk0 p" to print all partitions' information.

Well, I'm at my job now. So I will try this at home, but the shell is not working since system/sh (shell) it's not in the Kindle. I was trying to boot it yesterday with "fastboot boot twrp.img" and nothing. I also tried: "fastboot getvar product" and nothing but I only used the console. Anyway, let's see what happens...

Quick question, I've read that the factory cable puts the Kindle straight into bootmode, ¿So the color of the power button, has something to do with it? ¿I mean how do I know the kindle has entered factory mode? ¿The orange light is an indicator? (With a standard USB Cable I only get the green light with the power button, with the factory cable I first get green light, then orange light)
I've also read that if I can see the Kindle fire logo, the bootloader is Ok. Hence my Kindle is OK, but I can't enter fastboot mode. ¿Can anyone confirm this?

It'll get stuck in the bootloader screen, and fastboot commands should work as well, provided the drivers are properly installed and working.

OK, I've finally made myself a working factory cable. And in the device manger I can see the kindle listed as "Android phone" and in that root it says "Android ADB Interface". Look like drivers are not working. Where can I download them?

Those are the proper drivers for fastboot you should be able to use kfu to send twrp and fff to the device if that doesn't work you will need to fastboot flash them

All I get is < waiting for device>. Looks like the drivers are not installed.

Simply hold the power button down while connected when it says waiting then power it back on and it should send also try unplug replug when it says waiting

Where I started:
Was a total noob, had never tried to flash anything or use command line
One day my stock Kindle Fire HD 8.9 just stopped working on its own. Not sure why -- I never tried to root it or hack into it. I had left it plugged in for a week and it felt a little warm.
Powering on would get to the orange/white Kindle Fire screen, and then the screen would go blank and stay that way until powering off.
I just wanted to get the Kindle running again, preferably with stock OS or something that still allowed me to use Amazon Instant Video.
What I've accomplished so far:
Successfully got fastboot running! Originally through First Aide and now through command line too.
Successfully got TWRP 2.8.7 running! Downloaded the TWRP image and used fastboot to flash recovery.
Also flashed kfhd8-freedom-boot-8.4.6.img and kfhd8-u-boot-prod-8.1.4.bin from the instructions on XDA's 2nd bootloader page.
Tried using both First Aide and the SR Tool to restore system back to stock, but neither seemed to do anything. Even flashed the system.img included with the SR Tool manually using fastboot, but Kindle still won't successfully launch. Also tried the "Restore 2 Stock" program, which says it cannot find a device in TWRP mode (likely related to my ADB issue cited below).
Where I'm at now:
Now when powering on (in normal mode), Kindle stays at orange/white Kindle Fire boot screen forever. Screen no longer goes blank afterwards.
Can get to TWRP, but only by using "fastboot oem recovery -i 0x1949"
Strangely, ADB NOT working. While in TWRP mode, I use command line "adb devices" and it returns "B0C91004245614ME Offline". I'm pretty sure I have the correct ADB drivers (while in TWRP mode, device manager shows two entries: "Kindle ADB Mode" and "Recovery ADB Mode").
Obviously I have no backups of original system/boot images because the Kindle broke on its own and I've never seemed to have ADB access.
Questions:
Is there something big I'm missing in order to restore to stock? Intuitively, it seems like I should be able to just flash a working system image from fastboot. If I can't restore to stock, I'm fine installing another OS -- would just like to get the device working again.
I doubt I would have enabled ADB access before the Kindle broke. Is that the reason that the "adb devices" command returns "Offline"?
Have not tried gaining root access. Is that a prereq for using ADB and/or restoring to stock?

Regarding your questions:
1) Hashcode created a TWRP-flashable ROM zip for Amazon's stock OS., which you can find in this thread. You should download the 8.4.1 version from the d-h.st link in the thread, as the goo.im links no longer work because Goo.im (a former file hosting service for Android developers) shut down. However, beware the d-h.st (Dev-Host) links, as they are notorious for causing unwanted downloads and popups. Do NOT download anything executable (the file we want is a .zip, not anything else), as it can cause unwanted software or even malware to be inadvertently installed onto your PC (and in some cases, your android device).
2) Yes, that is why the command returns "offline" when you run it with the kindle in recovery mode.
3) No, root is not a prerequisite for either of those commands. (In fact, you'd have to have adb enabled before rooting the stock OS in most cases.) However, should you need root, the stock ROM that Hashcode built as a flashable TWRP .zip is rooted, and as long as you don't update the OS, your root should remain intact.

Thanks for the answers and explanations Monster. I downloaded Hashcode's 8.4.1 ROM zip, but I cannot figure out how to copy the zip file onto my Kindle, given that I don't have ADB access.
I did some research and it seems that one workaround is to use the Mount USB Storage feature within TWRP, but I can't get that to work. When I try to Mount USB Storage, no new storage drive shows on my computer (nor in Disk Management), and the TWRP error log says "Unable to mount storage. Unable to mount '/data'. Unable to mount '/cache'. Unable to find storage partition to mount to USB." Furthermore, the mount menu in TWRP says "Storage: Internal Storage (0 MB)" -- that doesn't seem good.
Do you have any other suggestions, either on how to get the zip file on my Kindle, or another alternative method to get my Kindle functional? Perhaps flashing something else directly from fastboot? Again, appreciate the help!

Boot into TWRP, then when you're in, choose Advanced -> ADB Sideload. Check the boxes that say "Wipe cache" and "wipe dalvik cache." Swipe where indicated to sideload, and hook up your kindle to your PC if it's not already connected. Type "adb devices" into a terminal/command prompt, and you should see a device that registers itself as "sideload" in the list. If you do, then type "adb sideload path/to/file.zip", where path/to/file.zip is the location of the downloaded 8.4.1 ROM zip. The ROM should automatically copy and flash; keep the kindle plugged in until the flashing process is complete. Any luck?

Yes, the adb sideload worked!!! (just had to update my adb version to 1.0.32) Kindle seems to be fully functional. Thank you so much Monster!
Last thing, do I need to worry about OTA updates or anything in the future that might create a conflict with the bootloader or ROM I'm using?

I believe that the OS is properly patched in Hashcode's stock ROM, so you shouldn't need to worry about OTAs or a conflicting bootloader. Glad to see it works again!
