just ruined my one x screen due to flex issue. - HTC One X

Ok here's a warning to all of you, the edges of the screen are very sensitive to pressure I noticed the other day light pressure on the edge of the bezel would make my screen discolored, I just took my phone out of my pocket now and I have a yellow vertical band down the right hand side of my screen, I'm guessing my phone squeezed in my pocket when I got in the car for work this morning, just a warning to everyone be ultra gentle with your screens. :-( not happy.

having tested and unboxed over 15 HOXes
i can confirm to you some of them ripple under light pressure, some under some effort and few impossible to ripple
the ripple is a sign of imperfect screen lamination, if your's was very sensitive to begin with than it was defected out of box and hence the damage you have now
out of the 15 i tried, only one of them that my cousin own is completely ripple free no matter how hard you push
the one im talking about feels completely different to the rest, its extremely rigid on both left and right sides with such a tight gap that no dust can get it, like i said it has been an impossible task for me to find another one like it, this one is also perfectly clean and even on whites when viewed at every angle, ie: its lamination is flawless, early HT23 white
something is seriously messed with HTC screen fitting and its only time before more and more cases like this will appear

This phone gets better by the day...
Might dump it on ebay and .....
This is rediculous.... somone with money and power DO SOMETHING!!!!
Mod edit: Edited for language

The glass is pretty fragile anyway TBH. Mine has been in a pocket on it's own and still managed to become scratched after a week, whereas my last iPhone 4 went about two years without getting a mark on either side!

You should get a Samsung device, I here each of their displays are identically perfect. Seriously, I've never seen a mobile device forum where there weren't a percentage of complaints about the display. You can't build millions and have every unit perfect. Google "iPad/iPhone display issues" and you'll see no one's immune.

Thats the good thing about being able to manufacture your own screens and not have to rely on 3rd parties I suppose. Imagine being able to buy a HTC phone with a Samsung screen in it! Minus all the Hardware issues too!
Oh wait, were you being sarcastic!?!? lol

Scratch Removal

So I think my stylus put 3 vertical scratches down the screen of my nearly brand new Touch Pro 2. It wouldn't be a big deal but they're really annoying because i can see them when the screen is on. Anyway, this is the top option right now unless you guys know of anything else that could work
Displex: wirelessground.com/saguaki.html
Also I see a lot about toothpaste, but theres about 3 billion kinds and I'm pretty sure I'd pick the one that would just mess it up more.
Thanks!
i've used displex before. make sure u apply very little and wipe gently.
its basically like a sand paper jelly that, if you keep rubbing more and more, will eat away your screen.
just use very little and you'll be fine.
as an alternative, buy a screenprotector (i would recommend brando) and put it on the display.
the scratches will mostly "vanish" behind the protector and the display is protected against further scratches.
An extreme case would be to buy a new digitizer (~$30)
and assemble it.

that site states that it is "Not for use with touch screen displays." I have an HTC Wizard that i want to send to HTC for the rebate program but the LCD is heavily marked up from using the device without a screen protector.
I just installed a InvsiShield full body protector on my tilt 2 the other day after it got a couple small scratches, with the protector on, you can't notice the scratches.

[Q] Dots at the bottom of screen & warranty repair (update: pic)

Hey guys;
I just bought a used G2 from someone 4 days ago to start an Even More+ plan on T-mobile USA. I started the plan the next day and everything is going well. I should say that at purchase everything on the phone seemed mechanically immaculate. The screen was perfect, etc.
Today when I got to class and turned off the screen on my phone, I noticed that in the bottom left corner of the phone there are a few dozen grey/white dots/specs on the screen of the phone. The best way to describe it without a picture is it looks like very fine grains of sand are under the screen, and they're really only noticeable when the screen is off or a black background is used. The screen for sure wasn't like this last night or even this morning from what I remember, and I haven't dropped or been rough on it at all. I baby my phones.
So what causes this? are there easy fixes?
If I were to pay for the $5.99/mo. insurance, would it pick up the screen repair? I called T-mobile support really quick (which was made aware that the phone is used) and they said even the lesser part of the insurance, $1.99, would cover manufacturer defects in the screen for free, I just need to contact HTC about it.
I have up to 14 days (10 days from now) from the start of the plan to add insurance. Should I do it and send it in?
When I get home from class in a few hours I'll see if I can take a picture and post it up.
Thanks for any help or words of wisdom. I just got done dealing with crap with phone replacements from Sprint, so I hope this is better!
Okay I'm home here's a picture:

Have you contacted HTC or the carrier about it? I might call HTC tonight as well
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Alright well I called into T-mobile and added the $5.99 insurance. Talked to the same guy that started my coverage. He said that the manufacturer's warranty $1.99 portion will cover issues with bad buttons, radios, screens, etc.
Gonna call t-mobile support in a couple days to see if I can get a warranty exchange figured out.
I should also note that the customer support people have been A+ so far in my dealings with T-mobile.

Another ONE X "hard to break" video

I guess not posted here yet!
http://youtu.be/cuv0VMBkWZ0
crazy video

look this http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=e3ri6vrmPbc
I'm kinda confused, a lot of people complaining about screen being prone to scratch, a lot complaining about not being gorilla glass etc etc...
As the other guy how had his one x going down from the second window floor and still working fine.
Had switch my yellowish Xperis S to th one X that arrived at home today but i'm on a trip so tomorrow is a big day, huge expectation about it after frequenting this forum for like 2 weeks now!
Hopefully no screen flex, bad screen ripple, gps or any other issue!

How can that be possible cant belive ...
Wow these videos are amazing, at least i don't have to worry about my phone too much now. Especially after that one dude on here dropped his from a window and it survived
Beat that SIII
Shock & awe!
just plain wow! Now I'm prouder with my HTC One X more than ever!
Next time I get into an argument with an iPhone or Samsung user, I'm gonna smash his brains in with my HOX!!!!
Even better, someone should do a phone fight off video, where they smash the phones against each other, like HOX vs SIII or HOX Vs iPhone!!!
One day before my protective screen arrived I accidentally dropped my work phone over the HOXs' screen. It's a heavy blackberry and I was sure it would have damaged the screen. To my surprise there was not a single micro scratch there. Nonetheless the protective screen arrive and I´m happy to have it on
My HOX got run over
So today i dropped my HOX and my mates car ran it over... needless to say i was crapping my pants when i was picking it up to see the damage but to my surprise nothing!!!!! Not even a scratch, dent or anything! I am using a plastic case and a screen protector so that would have absorbed a lot of the punishment but still very happy no damage to the phone!

Is there a coating on One X screen?

My One X screen seems to have a patch in the centre of the screen where finger prints sticks easily, and it feels 'sticky', well not as smooth as the surrounding screen, almost like the wax or coating is gone. The screen looks fine, no damage, or visible residues, I trired cleaning it with lcd screen cleaner and methol when it is wet you can see the liquid is all at one patch, but the liquid on the surrounding is like its on wax with droplets.
does anyone get this? my friend's one x doesn't have this 'sticky' feel in the centre of the screen. any idea how to solve this?
thanks in advance
It has an oleophobic coating. I got a scratch in my old one, but I had to exchange it due to the yellow spot issue.
Best option is to ignore it, however, if you are determined I've heard some people have success polishing it away (google polishing gorilla glass). Be advised that I'd practice first on a non-600 dollar phone.
Can not be polished. If you do not want to be without oleophobic coating.
redeu, mine One X has exactly the same problem, I didn't manage to fix it, looks like oleophobic coating was not properly applied to this part of the screen at the factory.
Not sure if it's covered by the warranty.
UPDATE: pictures of the problem, after some use showing oil where the coating is damaged, the second is after wiping with soft cloth, can't notice any issue.

I've contacted HTC support regarding this problem and waiting for their response.
I've also sent an email to htc, awaiting their reply... in the mean time, i stuck a screen protector on there, it feels better now.
Definitely looks like an issue in the coating. One more build issue to add on for the HOX. Of course, as redeu said, a screen protector eliminates the issue.
Got a reply from HTC support:
We do apologize, but device has to be referred to the point of sales if 14 days since purchase have not expired yet, or to the repair center, where will be decided if it is in-warranty case

errr.. that doesn't sound very promising, mine didn't appeared in the 14 day period. where about are you located?
See my profile for the location. I'll try to contact the service center once I return from the Google IO in July, as I don't want to attend it without my phone.
UPDATE: local HTC service (telemix.ru) has replaced the screen within 30 minutes, I'm the happy user again!

Need advice, change screen or ditch the phone?

Hey guys. I bought my Z5P on dec 23. It had a broken screen, i replaced the screen early in January and everything was great.
Then in early February the screen would get vertical lines at times, suddenly appearing then randomly disappear after 10 seconds all the way up to 8 hours later. The screen would randomly become quite warm/hot a couple of millimeters above the on screen buttons, aswell as heat up the entire phone randomly while in standby for some reason.
On Feb. 10 the lines came to stay, they are now constantly there in darker images as well as constantly sometimes in all scenarios. The 3.5mm port is also buggy and don't work if i move (I know about the software issue, this is hardware related).
So, i'm faced with exchanging the screen again for 60-70$ or change screen and frame in one for 90$ as well as the 3.5mm. Should i just throw in a new screen or will the problems likely reappear?
I did the previous swap myself, and cant find anything wrong with the install. The screen may sit a tad bit deeper in the frame now, the plastic edges rise above the screen on both sides. Screen appears to be OEM, same quality as original in all aspects until it failed. The phone has obviously been tampered with before i bought it, its missing 1 plastic cover over the charging port so i propped that up with a plastic piece as well.
Anyone with any experience with these kinds of problems on this or other Sony phones would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
For some reason i clicked the wrong button on log in and posted with my google user.
Here is a image showing my problem on a different phone.

since you bought it with broken screen, the scientific question for you to be asked back then was
1. how did it got broken? dropped from height ? heavy object dropped on it.... in either case....
2. what else may have had got damaged inside?
My sister had SAMSUNG s4 and she dropped it , it hit on the floor and lines/bar started appearing after a while! later the screen went blank... we replaced the screen and it worked only few hours and went blank again! ,,, finally the technician told us that processor or graphic chip may also got damaged or affected so replacing chip is not possible unless you change the mother board! (which will cost $400 with labour charges )
long story short! we gave up on that phone! when the market is saturated with variety of good hardware on competitive prices...
