Hey guys;
I just bought a used G2 from someone 4 days ago to start an Even More+ plan on T-mobile USA. I started the plan the next day and everything is going well. I should say that at purchase everything on the phone seemed mechanically immaculate. The screen was perfect, etc.
Today when I got to class and turned off the screen on my phone, I noticed that in the bottom left corner of the phone there are a few dozen grey/white dots/specs on the screen of the phone. The best way to describe it without a picture is it looks like very fine grains of sand are under the screen, and they're really only noticeable when the screen is off or a black background is used. The screen for sure wasn't like this last night or even this morning from what I remember, and I haven't dropped or been rough on it at all. I baby my phones.
So what causes this? are there easy fixes?
If I were to pay for the $5.99/mo. insurance, would it pick up the screen repair? I called T-mobile support really quick (which was made aware that the phone is used) and they said even the lesser part of the insurance, $1.99, would cover manufacturer defects in the screen for free, I just need to contact HTC about it.
I have up to 14 days (10 days from now) from the start of the plan to add insurance. Should I do it and send it in?
When I get home from class in a few hours I'll see if I can take a picture and post it up.
Thanks for any help or words of wisdom. I just got done dealing with crap with phone replacements from Sprint, so I hope this is better!
Okay I'm home here's a picture:

Have you contacted HTC or the carrier about it? I might call HTC tonight as well

Alright well I called into T-mobile and added the $5.99 insurance. Talked to the same guy that started my coverage. He said that the manufacturer's warranty $1.99 portion will cover issues with bad buttons, radios, screens, etc.
Gonna call t-mobile support in a couple days to see if I can get a warranty exchange figured out.
I should also note that the customer support people have been A+ so far in my dealings with T-mobile.

So I first cracked my Evo's screen in January, but it wasn't such a big deal since I could still use the phone just find. Then two weeks ago took my phone to Jamaica and dropped my phone on a concete floor. Now it's cracked even worst and the touchscreen stopped working. So do I just need to replace the digitizer or the lcd? And which website should I get the digitizer from (or lcd :/)?
Ebay at $12.98 plus free shipping: http://cgi.ebay.com/USA-TOUCH-SCREE...aultDomain_0&hash=item4aaac3e980#ht_605wt_973
Amazon at $15.98 plus around $4.00 for shipping: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00427PUMK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A1M0J6UC9S4O6R
I trust Amazon, but never bought anything from Ebay before. Yet I like Ebay's price.
Also, In the photos you'll noticed my Evo is plugged in charging but there's no notification light. Idk what's up with that.
First crack in January

Just taken w/ screen off
Screen on
Go with a digitizer that has many positive reviews because i got a digitizer with a hardware issue and it pressed itself all the time which made my phone pretty much unusable. But my digitizer did come with all the tools i needed.
Make sure you go to the durapower global site and purchase the HTC EVO 4G Digitizer Adhesive as youll need it to put the new digitizer on. Be patient with it because at first it will seem like its not double sided sticky. I reccomend taking off the more difficult side first because i did it the opposite way and had to cut some adhesive off kus i got dirt on it
When taking the digitizer off make sure u heat it up really good with a hairdryer or heat gun. and then very carefully peel it up with a pry tool starting at the top. I did not do this when i replaced mine and ended up breaking the lcd so you want to be super careful.
So I ordered the one from Ebay on Wednesday and FINALLY got it this afternoon (longest wait ever!). It took me nearly 4 hours to replace it. In case anyone want to know for in the future, the hardest part is separating the glass from the LCD. That part alone took me about 3 hours. Ended up that I was doing it completely wrong. I had to use a hairdryer and a flathead screw driver to separate it. And I just used the same adhesive to put the new touchscreen in.
So now the only problem is touchscreen isn't responding. I'm hoping it's just a loose cable. Also, the screen I got from Ebay looks used, fyi.
Today was a sad day. I dropped my GNex when taking it out my pocket to get in my vehicle. It dropped faced down from waist height and landed on some rocks/concrete. It took a chip out the glass and shattered in a few places.
Everything still works which is pretty good I guess no problem with the touch screen
I was crushed when I picket it up and fist saw it. I have a silicon case on it and no screen protector.
I hate cases and screen protectors but if I can get this fixed I will probably use both.
My questions is what's my best options here. My brother got me the phone from UK I use it on TMobileUSA. Basically I have no warranty here and wondered if there is someone in the USA that replaces screens or can send me one to do if not majorly complicated.
My brother said Carphone Warehouse will fix it ~£100 but they send it out. Seeing I use my phone alot for work was hoping to be without for minimal amount of time.
Any ideas? thanks

Send it to Samsung. I've read they will replace screens for $160 or so with a two week turn around.

Yup, you will need phone tools too.. Also found online: Amazon, ebay, etc..
Then just search for a "tear down" and follow the instructions.
I had my Galaxy S2 display broken. Took it to a repair center and saw how easily they put in a completely new front! I don't know if it is just as easy with a Nexus, (and offcourse here only replacing the screen applies as the back is made of one piece of plastic) but it might be worth to look?
You can find a display on ebay by searching for: galaxy nexus front display
I know it is expensive, but shopping a bit around the internet might help?
Advantage of doing it yourself is obviously that you don't have to send your phone away and being phoneless

I ended up sending the phone to my brother back in England. Carphone Warehouse fixed it for ~£79.
But I was too impatient and just ordered a new phone before I sent it off. I now have a screen protector and case
Sucks to break the screen as it can break so easily and there is no easy way to get it fixed in the US with the GSM version bought overseas.

Ok here's a warning to all of you, the edges of the screen are very sensitive to pressure I noticed the other day light pressure on the edge of the bezel would make my screen discolored, I just took my phone out of my pocket now and I have a yellow vertical band down the right hand side of my screen, I'm guessing my phone squeezed in my pocket when I got in the car for work this morning, just a warning to everyone be ultra gentle with your screens. :-( not happy.
having tested and unboxed over 15 HOXes
i can confirm to you some of them ripple under light pressure, some under some effort and few impossible to ripple
the ripple is a sign of imperfect screen lamination, if your's was very sensitive to begin with than it was defected out of box and hence the damage you have now
out of the 15 i tried, only one of them that my cousin own is completely ripple free no matter how hard you push
the one im talking about feels completely different to the rest, its extremely rigid on both left and right sides with such a tight gap that no dust can get it, like i said it has been an impossible task for me to find another one like it, this one is also perfectly clean and even on whites when viewed at every angle, ie: its lamination is flawless, early HT23 white
something is seriously messed with HTC screen fitting and its only time before more and more cases like this will appear
This phone gets better by the day...
Might dump it on ebay and .....
This is rediculous.... somone with money and power DO SOMETHING!!!!
Mod edit: Edited for language
The glass is pretty fragile anyway TBH. Mine has been in a pocket on it's own and still managed to become scratched after a week, whereas my last iPhone 4 went about two years without getting a mark on either side!

You should get a Samsung device, I here each of their displays are identically perfect. Seriously, I've never seen a mobile device forum where there weren't a percentage of complaints about the display. You can't build millions and have every unit perfect. Google "iPad/iPhone display issues" and you'll see no one's immune.

Thats the good thing about being able to manufacture your own screens and not have to rely on 3rd parties I suppose. Imagine being able to buy a HTC phone with a Samsung screen in it! Minus all the Hardware issues too!
Oh wait, were you being sarcastic!?!? lol
Hi,
I had some trouble with this phone. Long story short, I worked in US and my job take a open me a plan with at&t so I can use the phone back in canada with rogers.
Since the Gpro is only available in US, I thought it was a great idea to have a ''unique'' phone.
It worked fine for 2 weeks ( led notification stop working). UNDER light use.
Then after some time, the LCD ips backlight stop working. With a flashlight I was able so see the screen but it wasn't clever.
I asked LG several time, but the moment I told them the phone is in canada, they wont help me, even if I paid with us money on us territory.
Like if I live on the moon, it took 40 minutes to get to the border....
They finally admit that some of the first batch got problem with the screen, but still wont exchange it.
F*ck them, I tried to repair it myself.
#1 - Clean the contacts with 70% alcohol. No luck
#2 - Buy a new IPS LCD on ebay . No luck.
#3 - Clean the whole device with contact cleaner. No luck

#4- Then I do remember some HP laptop and Xbox 1st gen got soldering problem, so you put it in the oven and they work again.
So nothing to loose, I put the MOBO in the oven, convection bake, 375*´F for 10 minutes. Smell of plastic and the mobo bent (use aluminium support to avoid that)
YES! It worked. But since I use the contact cleaner, my screen was blurry.
So after 2 months of testing, I bought a second screen plus the home button assembly to get my LED notification back .
But the LED notification never come back
I found a app called buttonLED, so the back and menu button flash when I got a call/sms.
In conclusion, I had 2 LG , E980 and someone give the 3D (thrill), and both got problem, software AND hardware.
I'm on xda since I have the motorolla milestone (one of the first android device) and the Desire Z. Those 2 devices still working fine, the HTC desire Z 2010 to 2014!!! Still in good shape.
LG device are poorly craft from what I saw and what I can read on xda.
I repair a lot of devices, but nothing like this one. It was clearly a soldering problem.
For all of you who can have this kind of problem, use this method on LAST resort. It may not work for you, but did the trick for me.
Hey guys. I bought my Z5P on dec 23. It had a broken screen, i replaced the screen early in January and everything was great.
Then in early February the screen would get vertical lines at times, suddenly appearing then randomly disappear after 10 seconds all the way up to 8 hours later. The screen would randomly become quite warm/hot a couple of millimeters above the on screen buttons, aswell as heat up the entire phone randomly while in standby for some reason.
On Feb. 10 the lines came to stay, they are now constantly there in darker images as well as constantly sometimes in all scenarios. The 3.5mm port is also buggy and don't work if i move (I know about the software issue, this is hardware related).
So, i'm faced with exchanging the screen again for 60-70$ or change screen and frame in one for 90$ as well as the 3.5mm. Should i just throw in a new screen or will the problems likely reappear?
I did the previous swap myself, and cant find anything wrong with the install. The screen may sit a tad bit deeper in the frame now, the plastic edges rise above the screen on both sides. Screen appears to be OEM, same quality as original in all aspects until it failed. The phone has obviously been tampered with before i bought it, its missing 1 plastic cover over the charging port so i propped that up with a plastic piece as well.
Anyone with any experience with these kinds of problems on this or other Sony phones would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
For some reason i clicked the wrong button on log in and posted with my google user.
Here is a image showing my problem on a different phone.

since you bought it with broken screen, the scientific question for you to be asked back then was
1. how did it got broken? dropped from height ? heavy object dropped on it.... in either case....
2. what else may have had got damaged inside?
My sister had SAMSUNG s4 and she dropped it , it hit on the floor and lines/bar started appearing after a while! later the screen went blank... we replaced the screen and it worked only few hours and went blank again! ,,, finally the technician told us that processor or graphic chip may also got damaged or affected so replacing chip is not possible unless you change the mother board! (which will cost $400 with labour charges )
long story short! we gave up on that phone! when the market is saturated with variety of good hardware on competitive prices...
