I had the Galaxy S2 before my Galaxy Nexus, and one little silly thing I liked on the S2, and now seeing the S3 has improved it even better, is the cool looking notification screen toggle widgets.
I am running CM9 now, and it has the toggle widgets, but they look lame, the S series just has a better looking design, etc...I thought the Galaxy Nexus would have copied the S2's toggles and be a stock ICS feature, surprised it is not even in the phone stock. Didn't Google realize that notification toggle widgets are a must have nowadays ? A feature that should not have been left out in my opinion.
Anyways, do you think it would be possible to port over the S3 toggle system to the Nexus, or no way ?

That's what I thought, oh well. Still surprised Google did not include these cool notification toggle widgets as a stock ICS feature. I remember when I first turned on my Nexus, I was like, hey where are the toggles ? I looked in settings, and couldn't find them, LOL

Why's that? No stock version of Android has had those toggles before. Stock Android is not packed full of the same features as the "skins" or "frameworks" offer.

I know, but doesn't mean Google shouldn't have added them. They are now a pretty standard common feature on most phones, why not just add it to be a stock feature in ICS ?

Hi
Is there any way ( app or something ) how to get power widget to notoficatins area instead of last used programs? i dont like using power widget on a home screen
Is this what your looking for?
[APP] Notification Toggle
nope this app is crap...i already tried it on lot of different phones and its no good. I used some custom rom for my G1 and it has another widget ( editable ) in the notifications area....but it looked like as a version of the original home screen widget
Frankly, if you've all ready rooted your phone. Why don't you upgrade to a Gingerbread ROM which gives you the power widget in the notification area for you?

This isn't a built-in Gingerbread feature. It's one of CM7's many great modifications.
no hes right...Gingerbread has a power widget, ehm a sort of, mixed up with the notifications area on 2 tabs, but its not customizable. i thought about switching to cm's but i really like the sense and all that HTC "crap"

Yeah that's what I meant. I guess I could have worded that a little clearer. How about a MIUI ROM instead? It's a bit like Sense in a way.
yeah, but its not a sense rom. Maybe im too demanding....
Has anyone else noticed that the look and feel of ICS software and some of the app features are pretty much ripped out of touchwiz? Which is a great compliment to Samsung.
For example...
Sideways scrolling app drawer
Panoramic camera
White background with black writing (reversed from the usual android look in apps)
Hardware key combo to take a screen capture
Customizable dock
Folders on home screen
Resizeable widgets
Music controls on lock screen and notification tray
Respond to a caller by text message
Pinch to zoom in calendar and email app
Just saying...
I'm getting mine on Tuesday so im hoping the user experience is a big enough jump from my SGS2...

Actually a lot of the new features in ICS come from Honeycomb or have been parts of custom ROMs or third-party launchers for ages.
Sideways scrolling app drawer was in Honeycomb.
White BG with black writing - actually Android apps have choices of themes, one of them is "light" which is white background with dark text. Nothing new, they're just pushing brighter, more friendly designs with ICS
Customizable dock - that's been in third-party launchers for ages
Home screen folders - Android has had folders in the launcher for ages, just not as easy to set up as they are now (New folder is an option in the "add to home screen" panel)
Resizable widgets - that was in HC as well, and in 3rd party launchers
Music controls in notification tray - that's available in Honeycomb
Moral of the story: Just because a feature is in an OEM skin doesn't mean they were the ones to come up with it

Interesting. But I think you'll find that touchwiz was out on the original galaxy s much before honeycomb.
Think twice before switching from an S2, that's what I have done today and I am not sure I have done the right thing. Particularly down to the poor camera.
Iwould try to get your hands on one first if you can just to play with.

Oh MAN!! I've ordered one which is due to arrive on Tuesday. Maybe I'll have a play with it and flog it on ebay if I don't like it as much...
I also understand that they haven't borrowed one of the best features of Touchwiz - folders in the app drawer...
Borrowed or not, I do not like the look of TouchWiz at all, but I love Android 4.0.
I personally don't own a touchwiz device but it somehow gives me a very iphoneish impression.

And LauncherPro, GO Launcher, and ADW were out *long* before TouchWiz...and had many of these features.

+1 although its always nice to have a shiny new toy, was getting bored of the S2 after 6 months!
I love CM10/JB builds so far, the one thing I miss is the TW clock (not widget) with the Timer & Stopwatch. Does anyone have any recommendations?

If yours is like mine (GB 2.3.6) it also has Alarm, World clock, and Desk clock. (Slide the top menu bar all the way to the right to get to the Desk clock). This TW clock is one of the things keeping me from going to JB and/or CM10.
Has anyone been able to pull this out and install it on JB? Is it part of TouchWiz30Launcher.apk?
there is this which I haven't tried yet:

Bah, it works, but is formatted for a different resolution screen. It's "too big".

Thanks for the link, there is hope yet! I haven't tried it yet either, but the original link has a link to this post for the Galaxy S I9000, which I think is our phone's resolution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1558337

I'm looking for a way to customize the Jelly Beans lockscreen to replace Google Now (the one on the "up" position on the slide ring) with the Phone app.
I've seen that some custom ROMs have this, but I'd rather not flash a custom ROM, I just want to flash a mod on top of stock 4.1.1.
I did search the forum, but couldn't find one.
Does anybody know of a good way to do this?
Thanks!
learn. diy. watch how rom devs implement those changes.

If you don't want to flash custom Rom, get this app called widget locker. Which is not only customizable, but also really functional!

Thank you for the tip. I looked into this Widget Locker app, and it seems to be great feature-wise. But according to reviews, it seems to have several issues on Jelly Beans (slow/lags, makes user unlock to take a call, high memory consumtion, among others).
Ideally, I'd like a modded JB lockscreen to flash on top of my stock JB 4.1.1. Since that is already implemented in several custom ROM's, I figured someone might have done a stand-alone lockscreen mod to flash just that.
So I might be getting a Note 2 since the 3 is too expensive for me right now. I do not like touchwiz all that much (well mainly the way the bottom dock area for apps are, I like the app circle in the middle as well as being able to customize my grid for home screens.)
Anyway, I'd like to keep the s-pen functionality as well as the dual app screen and etc. so is there a rom that keeps these features from samsung in but has the home screen and such similar to stock android? I noticed there's a stable release of cyanogenmod out, but I cannot find any full data on this particular rom other than "unoffical" versions of it by other people.
Or would I be better off sticking with getting a different launcher, and putting up with the app drawer and etc.?

Hi...
About the TW roms: hmm... I am using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2079291
Great sound, very smooth, very good skin. everything is working
For more to customize this rom i very good: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2336271
a clean rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2259479
If you want to keep full S-Pen funcitonality it has to be a rom built on a TouchWiz base.
Sounds like you want a Touchwiz based rom and a custom launcher like nova. That's how I roll and I love it.
