i signed up for google voice light to have voicemails redirected to my one x instead of going to at&t. seems to work. at minimum, even if the app is unable to transcribe the voicemail, i can still play it on my phone without calling at&t.
Just download the AT&T visual voicemail app from play store. It comes installed on Skyrocket, Nitro and Vivid and supposedly only works on LTE phones. It works great on the Skyrocket, I'm hoping it works as well on the One X since I should be receiving mine later this week.
Google voice definitely works great for this, no need really for any other if you have this installed
also looks as though at&t charges an additional fee for vv with text on lte. google voice lite is free, but i'm not sure about lte functionality.
This is so incredibly lame. No visual voicemail, the AT&T Messages app will not install from their site and when I try to switch the voicemail service to Google Voice it errors out. The phone is vastly superior to my iPhone 4 in basically every single way but this is pretty much inexcusable.

It works fine just installed ATT messages app from the market.
Are you in Google Voice when installing? That's how I did it. Am on an international stock One X and on AT&T prepaid.

Just went into the Play Store and downloaded
I found after side loading the vivid's visual voicemail app on to my ATT One X, I immediately get a notification saying that there is an update for the app, I click update and it takes me to the market page for the ATT VVM app which I couldn't search for normally. It says it was updated May 4th and One X support was added so I have no idea why they wouldn't let you find it in the market.

You can use the Side Load Wonder Machine to side load the app, being htc sync doesn't let you.
hey guys google voice lite was not available in play store. Thanks.

just download google voice. when you open it, you will have options. some of them incur fees. light is one choice and is not a fee service.
I got VVM sideloaded into my phone and set it up. It doesn't alert me right away that there is an update, but when I start the app it then notifies me of an update. I then close out of the app and click the update notification, but when it goes to the play store it says "item not found" and I can't update the app.
Anyone have the updated VVM app that can be sideloaded into the HOX?
The VVM feature works, but I can't setup my voicemail greeting. When I get to the screen nothing happens when I press the record button. Before I hit the record button the sound levels are shown on the screen while I talk.
Any help?

How in the world do you turn off Google voicemail mail and go back to the stock app so I can listen to my phone messages the old fashion way?

In the Google Voice app, Log out of it, it will then give you a number to call to disable it fully. After that, uninstall the google voice app. Also, go to Settings-Call-Voicemail, and make sure "My Carrier" is selected, the google voice app should do this when you log out, but check to make sure
That app needs lots of work, it took over my phone! I was glad to go back to stock. I went online to my google account to unstall it.
Just updated GV and get fc. Cleared data, uninstall/reinstall and still fc. Any ideas?
Also getting "server error" in Market.
Also tried fixing permissions, and clearing google services framework. Still no luck?

Interesting because i updated and got the fc as well. Not sure if its b/c o the recent update or not since i switched from beta cm7 to bonsai, then started getting fc when i installed gv.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, same fc. Cleared data didnt work for me.
Oh and the error i am getting is the java.lang.nosuchmethoderror
Uninstall updates and uncheck box for automatic updates. A lot of people are seeing this.
I recently put the phoenix rom on my phone after having probs with hawk v. 2 for whatever reason. As a noob, phoenix is great as it is everything i could ask for and more. However, I put google voice on my phone. When I used google voice on stock, everytime i would dial a number it would ask if i wanted to use google voice or my number. After I put google voice on phoenix, it would automatically just use my google voice number by default and I could not keep it from doing so in the setttings of the app. Consequently, I deleted google voice and it seemed to have left a scar on my phone. Everytime I call someone, it calls from my gv number. Anything i can do have my original number pop up on peoples phone? And is gv simply not compatable. Messages are also not showing up in the sprint voice mail. Instead I am getting transcribed texts.

Is it just me or has S voice improved in the new update. It seems to be faster, still not as good as Google Now, but it seems to me its better than it was in ICS.

Personally I don't see me using it ever again, google now does everything s voice does, but a lot faster.

Can Google Now perform voice dialing features from a Bluetooth headset? I really miss that about my BlackBerry, the voice recognition for calling people from my headset was superb. It absolutely sucked in S-Voice on ICS.
I'll never use S-Voice again, except to ask it stupid questions. I've tried to use it to navigate somewhere and it couldn't find a simple street address, so I had to close that, over up the nav app and it found it right away. Hopefully Google Now will do it right.

Yes it can. But you have to freeze s voice to get it to work right.

I prefer Google now over s voice, Google now feels more polished. I found this video while back that goes over some of the cool things Google now can do.

Google Now is awesome. Its the only app which made me flash all the buggy JB leaks from other carriers...
I like GoogleSVoice
Agreed about the voice dialing. I have disabled S-Voice yet Google Now still tries to do an internet search on everything even if I specifically say to dial a contact.
Is there a way to launch goggle search with the home button (like S Voice)?
i heard that they had made some improvement to s voice with jelly bean but google now is too sweet to switch back from
I got a couple home minis coming and want to set them up to work with hey Google while my phone (Pixel 2 XL) responds to ok Google. I read somewhere someone describing doing this but can't recall where or how.
Problem us, my phone assistant doesn't seem to have a way to disable hey Google. If I delete and retrain the voice model it asks for three ok Google and then one hey Google no matter what.
Anyone know where/how I can get the phone assistant to ignore hey Google so I don't activate my phone and home minis at the same time?
I'd like to know this, too.
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Try uninstalling the Google app updates. Then retrain. It only asks for OK Google until you install the Google updates. Not sure if you are forced to retrain with hey Google after updating again.
Yeah that's kind of a weird thing. When I'm going to bed and I want the lights off my device is all turned on and try to fight to turn off the light first. Google needs to work on this
What you can when you train the voice so the okay Google on your phone in your normal voice and hey Google in a high pitched voice you'd never use.
Reverse it for your Google home. So when you do okay Google in your normal voice your phone will activate and when you do hey Google in your normal voice your home will activate.

Your Google home mini will take precedence when saying hey or ok Google near him and the phone, don't worry.
I did this last night.
Phone: use OK Google
mini: use Hey Google
Seems to work and the voice recognition works between myself and the kids.

It is just script on a screen.
Say whatever you want.
I have a couple of Google Homes. Most of the time my phone and Home could figure out which way i was talking but not everytime.
i blew away the voice training.
I only use "OK Google" on my phone
I only use "Hey Google" with my home.
No issues since.

I think this might be due to doze. Could you change the setting to "Don't Optimise" for the Google app in Battery settings?

I can't because google is not listed there only non system apps. When I went to apps to see if I can change there there was no option there.
I've ran into the same issue unfortunately you have to wake the screen up to call Google, kinda defeats the purpose
There's also another setting in the Google app under voice called "Voice Match" and there's an option to unlock the phone with it. Try that?
EDIT: I would try this on my phone, but I've removed the Google app from system so I'm not sure if it will work for me.

If you download any of the new Betas, the voice match is in there, but it's really just the new title for Ok Google Detection. And I still can't use it with the screen off which is ridiculous.
I've had the same problem after recently upgrading to Oreo stable release, Oxygen OS v5.0.4 on my 5t. And after some troubleshooting I was able to fix my issue. I'm sharing it here so it would help someone else as well.
Below are the exact issues I had.
1. OK Google voice detection was not working.
2. Voice input using Mic button on Google keyboard was not working.
3. Voice training was not working during Google assistant setup.
Troubleshooting I did:
I checked if there is any hardware problem with my phone's mic by using voice recorder app, it turned out I was able to record voice and playback well without any issues.
Then I searched on oneplus Forum and found out a testing code that would help to test mic using phone's built-in manufacturing test following below instruction. It was successful as well.
Dial *#808* -> scroll down to "single MIC recording test" there you can test all 3 microphones
Finally I went to apps and uninstalled "Google" app. This won't totally uninstall the Google app but will just revert to an older version. And that miraculously seem to have fixed my problems.
After the step 3 all the issues I have mentioned above were fixed and now I am able to open the Google assistant using "Ok Google" and I am able to use voice input in Google keyboard and also I'm able to train my voice in google assistant. Not sure where and what's the bug. Could be that OnePlus's Oreo update was faulty. I'm Just relieved that I didn't have to go through oneplus online support to reflash my phone's OS or to return my phone for service centre as suggested in some of the oneplus forum threads. In fact I am typing some of this messages using my Gboard voice input. I hope this helps someone else too.
