Hi all,
I am a conservative phone user.
What does that mean ?
It means that I want to do something, without it affecting everything else.
For instance: I want to have my emails on my ANDROID.
NO, I dont want my Google contacts in my contact list ... and ...
NO, I dont want to view Youtube videos constantly being logged into my Google account.
I want a perfectly "disintegrated" phone. Where one app doesnt affect all the others.
Also - I hate FACEBOOK, TWITTER and all the other SOCIAL SPY MEDIA out there.
I dont want them on my phone.
NO, I dont want to deactivate them
NO, I dont want to del the icon, just for the program to stay still.
I WANT THEM DEAD AND GONE
And YOU can hopefully tell me HOW TO accomplish these two things... Please
For the google account I don't know, but about the other app you can try to freeze them with titanium backup.

Best way is to create a new gmail email address for your android mobile.
that email address would be anonymous.
Needs 2 GO
Thank You for the replies so far.
I would like to use my normal mail addresses.
The reason behind me disliking the current state is:
Google takes over the whole device. It literally takes a dump over all the phones functions.
I dont want that.
When I log in to my mailaccount, I want to do mails ... and not being logged into all google apps on the phone.
(and into the internet google stuff as well)
Now its with facebook and twitter that I dont want it to track, record and analyze my every move.
(Thats why it needs to go)

What you want is not very easy to achieve.
If you are rooted, I guess it is much easier. the customisation can go deeper.
Steps (in my opinion):
1. At first run of the phone, don't log with google account! don't check any service related to google (keep my phone backed up with google account, for example).
2. before doing anything else, disable the apps you don't need. If you are root you can even uninstall them with some apk (as you are not logged to google, you can not use market, so the app should be saved on sd card before - via backup or whatever).
3. also disable the gapps you don't want (gtalk, etc).
4. remove the settings about the location. activate the mock location in developer section of settings.
5. log to your google account. immediately after, go to accounts and sync and:
a. disable sync (so that no google contacts are synced)
b. go to the settings of the account and uncheck everything that you don't want to be synced. i think you can do only this step, but it is your choice.
6. if you are root, you can install a program to further control the behavior of the apps. it is a personal option, there are multiple choices.
7. make a reboot. your phone should be free (or close) of any google 'integration'. any apps that you don't want to run should not run (twitter, fb, etc).
if I have skipped anything, anyone can update the steps.
Get an iPhone or WP
You can selectively sign out of all those apps. YouTube has the option. In Settings>Accounts & Sync uncheck everything you don't want to sync with Google. It's all there, you just have to set it up the way you want. You aren't being forced to are services you don't want to. The only things that need a Google account to work are Play Store and Gmail, for obvious reasons. Even Google Maps won't log you in automatically unless you open Latitude. YouTube signs you in but you can sign out. If you're using any version of Sense or AOSP GB, even the contacts app allows you to store contacts in phone only without syncing to Google. And it won't restore your Google contacts if you uncheck it in settings. In ICS, yes, the People app requires a Google account and can't store local contacts, but if it's THAT big an issue for you, just use a third party dialer like exDialer which has that functionality.
If you want a complete Google-free Android experience, flash CyanogenMod and don't flash Gapps after. You'll have a fully working Android phone minus Google. This also means you won't have Play Store and will have to sideload any apps you want, but that's your caveat.
And about getting rid of apps like Facebook and Twitter (which since you're unable to do, I presume you're running the stock HTC Sense firmware), read around and learn how to root your phone, and then delete the apks for those apps from /system/app. You can unroot after rooting, if that's an issue for you too.

You are right with most of the points.
There is only one comment from my side: he does not need to root it. the applications can be disabled without root. the only drawback is the fact that the apps are still there, but they will never start....
Correct. He can do that too. But his issue was that he wants to get rid of them completely.

Lol, I know what you mean!
You might like LBE privacy guard if you are rooted. It let's you decide which apps can access internet, GPS location, phone id etc.
I also use mybackup pro to freeze a lot of the preinstalled junk that runs in the background. If you are freezing system apps take a nandroid backup first just incase you freeze something that you shouldn't!
There are some apps, which you wont be able to disintegrate without causing something else to crash.
Best way in my books is not to sign in using google under accounts, instead use email app to configure imap gmail.
Or even better, learn how to cook, and make a barebone ROM...maybe you can share it with us if you do get a ROM like that...

Imo rooting is the only clean way to remove apps. Using an app to freeze apps causes a layer of crap running that will only hinder performance and potentially cause issues. What he wants is a non associated device. So I agree with rooting and then installing Aosp without gapps. Rooting is so easy anyways you might as well if you want that level of customization.

You can't freeze apps without root anyway. Freezing apps does not hinder performance unless you freeze something you shouldn't. There are performance benefits to be had by freezing junk that persistently runs in the background as long as you are careful what you freeze.

Really? I thought some apps could do it without root, but I have never personally tried it, so you are right I'm sure, and it makes sense. I suppose I see the benefit of freezing too I just would rather remove things all together. Seems cleaner to me.

You can disable the app (without root). That way it will never start....
hi guys..
just found today that if we go in Apps - All Apps - App Info, for some of the Samsung app, we see two buttons at the top, Force Close and Disable.
As I said, the Disable button shows up only on certain Samsung apps, for ex All Share Play has this, but not All Share Cast, etc.
My question now is..what does this disable function do? is it the same as freezing apps from TiBu? why is this only on selective apps?
Also, I disabled the following apps: Allshare Play, ChatOn, Exchange Services, Game Hub, Learning Hub, Readers Hub, Readers Hub Store! I know i dont use any of these ever, but can this in any way affect the normal functioning of the fone? I dont think any of the above are android critical apps..but jst want an opinion.
Thanks

I fyou are are rooted you can delete them permanently with ROMCleaner from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1937955.
Make a nandroid backup first in case you might want them back. This is the best way to get rid of bloatware
I've done more or less the same stuff. No problems so far. If something goes wrong, remember what you have disabled. A mail function not working? Enable a disabled mail-related app and try again... Nothing worse than that happened when I disabled lots of stuff on my last phone (SGS2). No issues so far on Note 2.
Disabled apps is similar to saying "not loaded apps" or "inaccessible apps". I never dealt with freezing apps, but after a short look it seems like it can be like this: I think freezing apps is to basically turn of their normal behavior (they can not give notifications or anything like that during frozen status). It can still run but not perform it's normal functions.
The ones that can not be disabled can often be more critical to various other apps on the phone. If the phone is rooted there are usually more possibilities though.
Some built-in apps that has been upgraded may need to have the upgrade uninstalled before being able to disable it.
I have currently these disabled: Allshare Play, Bubbles, ChatOn, Deep sea, Dual clock, Exchange Services, Face Unlock, Favorite Contacts, Gallery (using QuickPic), Game Hub, Learning Hub, Luminus dots, Messaging (using Go SMS), Phase Beam, Photo Wall, Readers Hub, Readers Hub Store, Ripple Wall, S Suggest, S Voice, TalkBack, Windy Weather, Yahoo! (both).
Not all of those actually does any good to disable really... I just get them away from my sight So far no issues.

great..thx for the details..didnt know this disable thing existed in older devices too.
Also, I noticed while disabling most of them, the "Force Close" button was also enabled, but again only for some. Does that somehow suggest that these apps stayed in the memory all/most of the time. Maybe some affect on battery by disabling them..! :highfive:
Sorry to bring up an older thread, but I couldn't find any other relevant thread about bloatware on the Note 2 [maybe my search keywords weren't correct ] But I was curious to what other apps or services are safe for us to disable/remove (without rooting the device)? My note 2 is from AT&T and from what I read and see, it appears to have a lot of bloatware. If anyone could direct me to a list of apps thats safe to remove, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks in advance!
There's a disable "Crap" button in settings.

There's a dedicated thread for apps safe to remove:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910885
When testing what is / isn't safe to remove - rather than deleting something just rename it in Root Explorer... eg if I wanted to delete Flipboard.apk I would change it to Flipboard.apk.bak first. Then if it screws the phone up you just change the name back, reboot and it will be back to normal. If there are no issues, then go back and fully delete it.
I've been experiencing battery drain issues with random apps even after shutting off permissions for those apps and shutting off background activity. These apps have also been added to battery optimization.
I've noticed this happens when I open the app and then shut them down, by swiping away from recent apps screen - verified by reopening the app and it never is in the memory and reloads. But they still continue to drain the battery in the background (as can be seen on the screenshot with battery drainers). Facebook is a usual culprit but not the only one, there is generally a few of them as you can see there are some games too. This pretty much keeps changing to different apps every now and then. I feel I'm doing something wrong which is really causing this drain.. every now and then. Any suggestions / opinions?
Thanks!

To add, I'm on the latest firmware with May security update (the one has been persistent throughout before and even now) ans not rooted.
How many time you do it ? Because it consumes less battery to keep them in memory than to reload all the apps every time you use them.

Just a pointer re Facebook.
Take a look at your System apps in Device /Settings /App category
Look for Facebook... and you will see other 3 x Facebook related
apps also listed ..!
You shut Facebook down but the Facebook Services, Facebook App Manager.. etc...? is still running and suckling battery.?
See my screen snip.
I most probably don't need to remind you that Facebook,
has over the past years, been fingered/known, to drain battery
.
My solution, which you most likely won't l "ike"
is to temporarily disable Facebook and the other Facebook related system apps.
Uninstall the one small Game or both??
and see if there is a improvement ?
Good luck.

I meant I've tried both strategies. Shut them off by swiping them away, letting them be and also shutting off thr app's setting to run in background. Nothing worked really.

That's the issue, Facebook doesn't really bother me but the games (or other apps like Twitter or tiktok or Instagram) do. And it's not always Facebook or these specific games. It's different each day - any apps I more frequently used that day continue to stick there consuming power. Every day it's a different set of apps. But wondering why stick causing a drain!

yes ,
Firstly ,
over the years ,i have been a few times, in similar "position" than you, re apps and battery draining .!
I know it's very frustrating ..annoying .....
and in the end i always ended up doing a factory reset . !!
I use a cross section of a different "set " of tools eg BettterbatteryStats ,Wakelock Detector lite ,Gsam Battery etc . ( all ADB enabled) to try and pinpoint the culprit ..
Unfortunately ,the permutation/reasons can be many ??
eg You installed and uninstalled an app and "something " eg System settings got corrupted .?
You disabled /freezed ,an System app and it has an knock on effect .
You did some mod /hack or maybe a sideloaded app thats causing it ..?
App that you installed that's badly coded .
It also could be that when you did an OTA to latest firmware that something/system ,got corrupted..?
Bottom line ,
You sitting with a very irritating/frustrating issue .
Your options is either to live with it ? or try and find the culprit ?
or doing a factory reset .?
Yes, i know you most likely, don't favor a factory reset.
As stated i always ended up doing a factory,on the spur of the moment !!!
Then doing a clean install from scratch ..a few apps at a time .......
Anyway it's your choice .??
Good luck .

Thanks buddy, you make some really good points. This is the first time ever that I haven't rooted the phone or done anything to disrupt the default OS. All I've done is the ADB permissions required for the GSAM Batteey app tk be able to pill detailed info.
I'm thinking if there's some way to reset all permissions and reconfigure them as the apps require? That has fixed things for me in the past.
Factory reset isn't an easy option for me because of RSA apps configured on the phone otherwise I've got to go through a few calls to get access - sorta irritating.
Hopeful something works but until then I'm letting it be lol.
Thanks!

I understand above if you say factory reset is an issue.!
I have a app call Bouncer paid (Play Store) installed on my device.
Don't think there is a free version, cannot remember, as I've had it for a while.
It basically controls your app permissions.
You can configure it to automatically remove permissions after using relevant app.
Also you can reset permissions.
It might help you.?
You can Google around a and see reviews.
To give you a idea, look at my screenshot.
Sorry, can't give any links, as it a paid app.
Good luck

Purchased the app. Kinda handy, but even after rule once set, when you come out of the app, you need to remove the permissions (the overlay window on top requests for removal) - that sorta adds work opening / closing apps.
My battery issues have improved immensely by putting the Facebook app in deep sleep. Battery life now is pretty decent.
check find my mobile.apk and samsung internet browser.apk if at all installed official apps from apkmirror etc the uninstall that apk and go through galaxy store but in galaxy store dont update findmymobile.apk

I suggest you take another look at your Bouncer settings.
You can auto remove it.
I had it on this setting but, change it to lock notifications, as i had better control.
Also remember to back up your Bouncer settings.
If ever you make a mistake you can just import you permission settings.
I forgot to do this a one stage and had to redo over Bouncer 200 apps.. Permissions...!
Otherwise if not sure as dev of Bouncer, for assistance
Good luck
Hi guys,
So around 1 month ago now, I got myself hands on a Note10+ (N975F)
I have been noticing screen off time drain, it is around 1.8% for me. I have tried using greenify, optimizing the settings, battery saving mode etc.
It hasn't really been working for me. Screen off time is really important for me, even more than screen on time.
So i wanted to know, how could I maximize the battery life of my Note10+? Is there like a custom rom you could recommend, like Lineage or dr ketan?
Knox is already tripped bcz of the previous owner, so that is no problem. Or a other custom rom or just with rooting something.
If you know anything, I would appreciate it if you could tell me,
Kind regards,
Crewz
First, you can select apps that you dont require to be always running, to be dormant, look for this option in settings, also you can install galaxy labs, there is a similar option there also, I disabled several apps via CCSWE, that have the undesirable behavior of being always running and accesing internet, such as facebook, chrome, youtube, operator apps, etc, also, with CCSWE you can deprive apps of certain undesired services that eat batt, this a process that takes some time, as you use the device, you can obseve and decide what to disable, to uninstall, or control via ccswe, I have my note 10+ since Sept 6 2019 and the battery lasts thru the whole day, I get some 7 hrs SOT on normal std use, when I play intensive games,, that is another diferent thing

Hey thank you for taking the time to help me. I have tried what you said, I went into settings and I went through my apps and selected those that don't need to run in the background. I also downloaded CCSWE from the playstore, i saw like 500 applications, but only disable or clear data from the application.
Are there any other device settings you recommend changing?
Thanks for your time.
Decide if you want to root it, if so you'll have many more options and tools to work with.
Otherwise get PD MDM to block apks from running at boot and disable them.
Use Samsung Device Manager and set to Optimized in main window. Toggle on fast charging but don't enable any other off the top 3 dot menu. You can then disable that app too. 3rd party power management apps including Samsung's can screw it up. Cloud apps, Goggle Backup Transport/Backup Framework are big offenders on my stock 10+
Disable Google, Samsung and any carrier feedback.
To hell with Bixby except Bixby Vision/Vision Framework which are needed by the cam for full functionality.
Play with it.

Hey thanks for your reply. I would want to root it, I am not sure how. I have owned a oneplus 7 pro where it was much easier to do.
If I would root, what other options and tools could I use?
Also, I did those settings things from the battery, thank you.
Not sure what you mean with Google / Samsung feedback.
For bixby I disabled almost everything except vision and routines.

Don't disable Bixby Framework either.
The feedback options are buried in settings, you'll run into them.
I'm not rooted so I don't spend much time looking at what I could do. You do have real time cpu/power usage capabilities with it for weeding out the hogs... for one thing.

Hmmm, can't really find those feedback options. I will enable the framework again.
I guess I will root when it is really needed to. First let's see what I can do without.

In the Goggle and Samsung account settings.
If it's a carrier phone one of the advanced network settings. Carrier phone; disable remote support, updates (unless you want an update), and all their software.
Keep Samsung account and apps related to Galaxy Store/Themes as you want to be able to download themes, icon packs and apps from there.
Excellent free icon packs... and the Good Lock family of apps.

Should be about 1% when sleeping with AOD on.
Keep the AOD to a bare minimum though ie just a clock no images.

Galaxy labs, Battery Tracker is useful.
See if Google Backup Transport or Framework are the culprits. If already package blocked clear their data and the data on Goggle Play Services ie gms.
It can be hard to ferret out as many apks simply are thrown together under Android Services.
Worse some Google apps falsely show under Transport etc even when its blocked. That why you clear the data of gms.
Use the factory load of Samsung Device Manager to globally clean caches. Reboots seldom help.
Turn off location, bt and wifi if not using.
Do not let Playstore run or Samsung updates unless your using them.
When running clean its ide current with screen on is typically in the 100-200 ma range. A few lower and higher. If you're getting a lot of spikes 400 ma and above at idle something is using a lot of the cpu resources...

So I installed Galaxy Labs and Battery Tracker.
I noticed that Google Foto's was on top with 7.1%.
Followed was whatsapp with 6.3%
And google play service was 3.78%
I haven't seen Google Backup Transport in the list.
Would there be like a way to turn off location automaticly when I am not using it, for example that it would only turn on for google maps or something?
Thanks for your time!

If you leave locations on it's a whore to a lot of apps including Google. Looks like you found your prime suspects.
Lol, WhatsApp never runs here same with FB.

Alright i'll see how that goes. Also, I got myself the original wireless charger from samsung today.
Would it be okay if I just putted it down on it whenever I am at my desk? I mean battery wize.
Hi, I started using adb app control and I disabled 38 processes.
I m pretty happy with this useful app but I feel I can go much deeper...
I would love to remove much more stuff (if possible).
I used a list in the a20thread, but many processes /apps are different or missing from a52s.
So anyone could please me share here or privately the full list of safe disabling?
I need to keep Facebook Bixby routine and vocal assistant.
For the rest I can quit almost everything useless.
It would be great to find also the top 10-20 app/processes that drains battery between them.
Thank you for the help! ❤
There is an apk it can shows every system apks what is triggering , boot , wireless , any actions they do . Not every apk drain battery so much . In general Google services are hungry for energy and you can not dispense of them . I disable for example Google search , Google Assistant , Google Pay , Duo , Hangouts and Calendar . Maps I need always . Also some launchers drain battery . Regarding Facebook Bixby routine and vocal assistant they are battery eating , very much . Most of them have some tracking activity which are awake or they trigger awakening most of time . So don't stop small and insignifiant apks , focus only on the those few which affect your battery life . Disabling them I extend battery at least 25....30% daily . Better results can be done with a routed device , but root for phone today became a lttle bit tricky .
Also battery can be increased choosing some correct settings of system behaviour . A11 and A12 have a lot of settings for wireless , security , data , accesibility and so on which if they are active can drain also battery . Not less important is screen refresh rate or SOT , it is known more activity on phone when display is lit can drain at least 80% of battery . That can be tested only by battery drain over night when battery percentage drops down 1...2% or less . 2% is quite much...
Oops , I forgot , many users keep for nothing , all the time , Data , Wireless , Bluetooth , Hotspot and Location active . That's a big mistake that loose battery backup . Keep them only you need

Hi, thank you for your help.
Which is this apk that shows drains?
I almost follow all your suggestions.
I didn't get how can I understand if SOT is good or not, which app can let me understand that and, if I found problems, how can I improve it?
Then, I agree to disable the bigger drain processes, but some for me are important for working, such Facebook.
For this reason, seeing a lot of fb processes, I would like to know if I can disable some of them without having issues.
Then, Bixby routines it drains, fine, but it saves you a lot of battery and time (auto enable /disable GPS/ night sounds for example).
About Google and Samsung, i don't care about them, apart maps, calendar and drive.
Considering all these details, which processes do you suggest me to disable (mostly about Samsung) ?
I don't know if you are using a debloating tool, and if you can tell me the exact process name.
Thanks
P. S.
I Just read on Quora a guy that said that Google assistant doesn't consume much, it consume more Bluetooth. Could be true?
Is hard to find a clear answer on the net.
" My Android Tools Pro " , it's a very interesting apk . I used it since Androia 5...6 . Compare behaviour between ordinary apk and every Google services .
You don't need to trust me , trust only yourself doing some tests with your phone . Observe draining over night .
In the apk provided you have " Service ' , Broadcast receiver " , ' Activity ' and " Content provider "
On the other hand , Samsung is well known has double apps with same purpose like Google . I don't understand why is this . More than that Samsung has also a relaxed anti-hibernate background activity apks versus chinese brands like Huawei , Oppo , Xiaomi , OnePus etc which stop some times aggressively non-important apks
I just saw that is for rooted phones but I don't have it..
For this reason I wait for someone that can help me with a full /partial list of all debloatable processes.
Thanks

It is for rooted phone only to choose any actions . But if you install it you'll see the root and subroutines of any apk and/or services you have on phone . That I consider important ! I don't used it as well cause non-rooted phone .

Another guy told me about this program, but I already had app control and a list of all safe processes, the only con is that there's also other missing processes because it's made for another phone.
So, I made my own list based on it, I would love to add something more (if possibile and I m not missing anything).
Can you suggest me what I can remove more on my a52s?
I only listed the final words of the process to simplify with different countries app names
Thanks!

@sando99 thanks, is it for a52s?
adb app control can save the list of debloated processes, so I can restore it with one click instead than one by one with new phone?
I ll change it soon for a speaker problem, it rasps.
I fixed it three times with a sound, but it keep happen the problem.
Probably is a hardware problem, but could I accidentally disabled a sound process that can distort audio? I think I disabled only the safe ones, anyway my list is in this post, if there's something wrong and someone can check /find it, would be awesome!
It happens both with speaker and normal call speaker.

Wow, 141 apps!! Are all these safe to remove?
And, most important, is true that majority of these app/processes doesn't drain battery because the true consuming processes are few/less?

Yes they are all safe to remove but you can loose some function you are using which i dont use like Bixby, Google assistant Samsung Pay etc. i disbled all google apps exept Maps, Play store, play services and translate. İ disabled most samsung apps that i dont use including Samsung store. i dont know if most of these processes consume any battery, i disable evrything that is safe to disable and i dont need.
You can use the Universal Android Debloader. by default it shows onlt app that are safe to remove and if you click on the app it explains what it is.

Fine, I still have some questions.
I use maps but I disabled it (from phone setting), because its not really a notification map (I use it only while driving or checking the path), so why you didn't the same?
Because I use Bixby routines/cloud/Samsung store, should I avoid removing any process in your list?
Why did you stopped Samsung store? There are important updates sometimes..
Lastly, do you know how to backup my debloated list and how to restore it with uad?
Thx
This is the debloat list I use. It is focused mainly on Samsung apps that I don't use. I did not debloat Google apps such as Meet, Chrome, Google Messages etc since we can just disable those apps. The main culprit is Samsung which doesn't let you disable most of their own apps. I understand a lot of people probably use their Quick Share, Private Share, Samsung Pass, Samsung Cloud, Samsung Message etc. However, I still wish Samsung had given us an option to atleast disable them incase someone doesn't want to use those apps.

Yes it's true that many system apps don't run in the background and don't get activated until they are called/triggered. However, there's no way for us to know which system app is linked to other apps and how often they are triggered. So, you can disable them incase you don't use them. However, please note that sometimes it can backfire you. If you disable a system app which is important for the OS, your device will constantly search for that app as soon as you open any app which is partially/fully dependent on that system app. So, always check the function of a system app before you disble or debloat it.

Yes man, I totally agree about removing all useless things and I never disable other than safe processes. Your last debloat list how many processes have inside ? I ll open next week when I ll check another list I already have (the one with 141 processes of the last week we talked about).
BTW i also disable all Samsung you mentioned, apart cloud that I feel is essential for any body because it also back up Bixby routines, good guardians and all settings (don't like to waste two hours in setting everything).
At the end the croaking speaker problem it was not connected to debloating/virus but an hardware issue that also other people accused in the Samsung forum.
On Tuesday I ll ship to fix it, not so funny to do it just after 2 months of use, but will be all for free at least.
The main, most important question now is: how to backup up on my windows all my list of disabled app with adb app control??
I really need to know it soon because I have to backup everything in 48h from now.
Thanks!
