What is your daily driver? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Straight, simple question. So, what do you use ?
I am on Android Revolution HD, but very very eager to move on to Sense 4 or AOSP ICS once it's stable as a pyramid.

Been bouncing around lately, but keep coming back to andro test builds. So stable they should be full releases and no issues with camera etc.
Try it out. You won't be dissapointed.

CyanogenMod 9.0.0-RC0 BETA [Unofficial]
I like Sense 4 UI but too much things aren't working correctly so i can use a Sense 4 ROM as a DD.
On the other hand, AOSP ICS ROM are now quite stable and there are only minor issues left so you should it give a try. Any of it should be fine.

I played around with Andromadus Beta 2 a few weeks ago. Can't remember exactly what the thing was which sent me back to ARHD

ILWT for the most part. I do find myself nandroid'ing Andromadus back and forth though.

ILWT almost exclusively. Played around with ajhavery's miui_au 4.0.3, but, he put developement on hold for awhile

Cutting The Umbilical Cord From Gingerbread

Well, with the latest and greatest roms from some very talented and dedicated devs for the Dinc 2, I officially see no reason to reason to use CM7 or MIUI Gingerbread anymore. I was running both of these earlier in the week and in short order found my way back to ICS roms in very short order.
I can't wait till source fixes the few things that are left to fix, but I can live with what I have for now.
Thanks to the Dinc 2 Devs out there!!!
On gingerbread miui... I like it so much I don't see the point to switching. Everything is exactly how I want it... Plus not sure what is so much better about ics

IMO, not as smooth as it will be when HTC releases whatever the hell they are supposed to release, but running damn fine.
I hear a lot of good things about the ics Roms but I'm still not ready for ics. There are still to many bugs that I don't want to have to deal with. When HTC releases some source or we get a good leak ill jump on board.

Cm9 is great, and honestly is at a caliber that is worthy of daily use. Their aren't any issues I can point to, asside from what's known not to work, that I can say would prevent me from using it for good. That being said, I'm running condemned's cm7.2

I went back to miui gb, after a day of taking easter pix of the kids inside and outside of the house in the bright sun, the auto brightness not working is a killer.
I can't wait for Opensense4 to be as functional as AOKP and CM9. I use my camera on a daily basis, so I haven't made the transition yet to an ICS ROM as my DD (from SRZeus). I am actually about to give AOKP build 31 a go for a few days. I say if you like what you have, why change? But it is nice to see all the hard work being put into ROMs for a phone that doesn't have all the leaks yet.

So, ICS is incredibly stable on our devices now. Camera flash on AOSP is the only issue that I can think of. UKB is a fantastic sense 4 ROM that has a useable flash. Have we reached the "umbilical separation point" that the OP suggests?

AOKP has more tweaks but CM9 is a little better IMO.

Has anyone considered making a GB ROM that worked and looked exactly like vanilla ICS. You know, just to give us a full functional ICS ROM without the drivers? The only thing you couldn't do was use ICS apps and launchers.

[Q] ROM Recommendations

So my partners Blackberry has finally died & she's slightly pissed at me (I may have jumped for joy when she told me xD) Anyway she has asked if she can use my old phone (which I just use to play with know a days) which is this beautiful HTC Vision.
I'm trying to decided which Rom to go with as it will be her first ever Android device, I got her to play with a few different android devices from where I work & the only thing she said was "I don't like them HTC's, there complicated" ¬_¬
So I'm thinking of using a Stock android Rom but as i haven't kept up with the Vision ROM development (To busy playing with my Galaxy Nexus xD) I'm gonna ask the good people of XDA..
Which ROM have you found to be the most stable & best battery life?
Thanks in advance guys & girls ^_^
If she thinks they're complicated try miui.us
If she wants asop go glite
If she want more customization use a cm7 based rom - try ilwt
If she wants pretty sense ask someone else I don't use sense
Don't go ics
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
There is a new sense rom based on android 2.3.5 (I think) with sense 1.9. Its the zippiest sense rom I've tried. Other than that..... what he said /\

I've been running Andro Beta 2 since it was released, and Alphas 5-12. All were solid for me as a DD.
Personally I would install Virtuous 2.0 and then supercharge it.

Not for daily use for someone that wants a complete phone. No camcorder, glitches, camera glitches if you don't use stock app, no fm.
I use Andromadus and wouldn't ever change it with Gingerbread, but I wouldn't suggest it for a new user.
Go Miui!

I always thought Sense was simple and awesome. The second one that is...but yeah, you should go with MIUI, it won't get simpler than that.
Yeah, virtuous sense 2. Smooth but with sense to help break android to a newbie.

I would recommend either virtuous sense or the latest miui version.
Both are very easy to use and have no major glitches or bugs!

I concur with this, ILWT is the way to go for CM7 based rom.
For sense, last time when I was in my flashing mode, Virtuous Sense v2.0.0 was my daily driver. Until it couldn't keep up with me, then I switched to ILWT

Most are using Gingerbread. Some are on ICS. Any user who is still on Froyo at this point probably doesn't have any idea about rooting and or XDA or just wanna be left alone in the past.

I'm using ICS from DK_Zero-Cool (v3.3u1). Most stable one i've experienced until now
MIUI XJ since New year, probably will try with some Sense ROM soon
I'm still using CM7.2 RC1. Very stable and fast.
Could anyone explain to me why everybody is so hyped about ICS? I mean I appreciate what the devs of ICS ROMs do and it's great that they make ICS possible on our old Desires.
I tried Sandvold's ROM and BCM. They're quite good and making good progess, but I always came back to CM7.
I actually don't see a point in switching to ICS (yet) unless you like flashing and testing new ROMs, because CyanogenMod 7 and other 2.3 ROMs seem more stable and faster and they have all the features ICS offers.
Is it the looks of ICS or just that it's new and you want to test it?
I'll probably switch over eventually, but at the moment I'm just curious what you like about ICS.

No CM9 for Desire :(

As Cyanogen posted on twitter
" The Nexus One, along with the other first generation Snapdragon devices (devices with the QSD8x50, MSM7x25, MSM7x27 and MSM7x27T SoCs), will not be supported beyond the CM 7.x (Gingerbread) branch. "
Sad news. But I'm not suprised, I've had my Desire for almost 2,5 year now. It's just getting old. There are great alternatives however, I am so glad there are still some skilled developers trying to port all this stuff, and with succes

Something better than meXdroidMod_Fried_IceCream3?

I have a modded ICS like in topic title - meXdroidMod_Fried_IceCream3. Is there a ROM with o/c (1.5 GHz is enough) and better stability, speed and look? And with less memory usage? I wasn't there by 2 months and I guess things changed
