Im on AOKP M5 and I finally soft bricked into bootloop. I accidentally erased the frameworks-res.apk and before I had a chance to put another one back in everything shutdown and forced closed. I know I can odin and start over, but i was wanting to know if there is a way to push the framework file back with out having to start from scratch?

That's why you make it framework-res.bak and not delete it, then paste in the modified one and set permissions.
Congrats!

Well I had no intentions of deleting or replacing files at the time. All I wanted to do was copy it. But never mind, I found out how the hard way. thanks for the help.

This happened to me once before and i was able to get it back by using droid explorer to copy the framework back. First odin the EL26 stock CWM kernel also download FD26_AOSP.zip as well then once you are in CWM go ahead and open Droid Explorer then find the framework-res.apk from AOKP M5 and drag it to the correct folder system/framework/. at this time grab your phone and do a fix permission under the advance tab in CWM, also drag that kernel anywhere in your sd card so that you can flash it and make AOKP bootable.
Once you get into CWM and if droid explorer does not detect your phone, please find the "Reboot" option in CWM and then replug in your phone to your pc and Droid Explorer should now see it
Good luck! i know this seems like a lot and it might just be easier to odin back to EL29 and start over.
cant he just odin to el26cwm and reflash the rom to replace the files he "accidentally deleted" then reboot?

I thought about this and quickly decided that this seems too risky. Considering I modded a few things and they won't work nice with some of the files in the original build.

Oh also you might need to change the the file name to update in order to flash it in the stock recovery.
I did this when I first went to FROYO ( forgot who's post I got it from) If you have the factory ROM just rename name it... update.zip and try that, it worth a shot

i gave him that link earlier
he doesnt have clockwork installed
Easy fix man, break a battery pin off so the phone doesn't power on, and take it back saying it just died. They won't be able to boot it to check the rom at that time and should in store replace it with a refurb. I have done this once, when they didn't want to replace mine for screen wobble.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
You could also intentionally flash a file that shouldn't have be flashed, to stick the phone at the boot logo.
Without being able to boot, they cannot reveal what rom is 'running'
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Just get a 12-24VAC power brick, like one used on a sprinkler timer. Drag the 2 bare leads from the output around the contacts on the back of the phone for battery, sdcard, antennas, etc... It'll roast the **** out of everything inside of the phone. They'll never know what ROM was on it after that.
Here is the torrent that is being shared to ease the original link. Created by carrett. This is an 727 skyrocket leak so autorotation will be off
Thanks and fast. Lets root this, can we Odin cwm?

Yes, it will get you back to stock EK02.
If you want root, use the Auto Root package, Option A.
If you want CWM, after rooting with Option A, use Option C to install EK02+CWM
Backup everything important of course.
You can try the NoData version to see if your data can be preserved (sometimes downgrading won't work) or if you don't mind restoring your data, just do the Full version that resets your data. It will definitely work regardless of whether you are downgrading.
Thanks for the help so far. Could you tell me what CWM is?
And if i do this will sprint be able to tell? I dont want to void my warrenty.
I just want the dang phone back the way it was yesterday.

PS I dont mind having to resore any data. I really dont have much on it

CWM is clockwork mod recovery. If you didn't have it before, then don't worry about it. It is used to install custom ROMs, themes, make backup images, etc.

If you are just installing the EK02 ODIN OneClick, it will look exactly like stock. Sprint will not be able to tell. It does not increase your flash count, nor does it trigger the yellow triangle. Root isn't installed in the EK02 package. If you want it, it is a separate step.

Ok...
I'm about ready to do this.
I've watch some videos and I just want to be sure i understand the steps
1. I downloaded file SPH[D710.EK02 CL704398-oc
2. I extracted the file and created the odinoc folder with 546MB file in it.
3. I disabled my passcode
4. I downloaded the samsung drivers and installed them on my desktop computer.
5. Now as i understand it, I put the phone in odin/download mode, attach my usb cable to my phone then hit start in the odin oc.
am I correct so far?
Then I just sit back and let it do its thing
Have I missed anything or am I incorrect in the steps?
Thanks for your patience

Between steps 4&5 you should run the -OneClick.exe file by double-clicking on it.
The after running it, boot your phone into DL mode using one of the two methods.
The modem.bin is the last thing to flash and it takes around 2 minutes, so don't pull the plug early thinking it has hung.
ok...
when i click the .exe file that opens the EK02 factory restore screen correct?
Once thats up and running I boot the phone by holding the power on and vol down together correct?
Then attach the usb cable, then hit start correct?

You can have it attached while you power on. You'll have to hit I think vol up to confirm entering download mode, and then on the computer the com port should be yellow in odin oc.

NANDROID Restore Stock ICS 4.0.4 Galaxy S III T-Mobile T999βfor T-Mobile GS3 T999 only!β
(This Nandroid restore is not rooted and is using the T-Mobile Stock Kernel.)β
Instructions:
1. You must have ROM Manager installed and or ClockworkMod Recovery flashed and an external sdcard installed. Then have the directory and file contents of the "T999-Stock.rar" file parts extracted to your internal SDMemory in the /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/T999-Stock directory. If the directory does not exist then create it.
There must be a directory called "T999-Stock" in the "/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup" subdirectory and the files must be directly in that directory, not in another nested directory or Nandroid will not find the files. (Note: If you have any spaces in your directory name. You will get a md5 check some error.)
β
2. Run ROM Manager and choose Reboot into Recovery or boot phone into clockworkmod recovery.
3. In recovery go down to backup and restore, choose restore.
4. Select T999-Stock and choose Yes - Restore.
5. When the restore finishes do not reboot yet. Do a "wipe data/factory reset" from the recovery menu (just to be thorough).
6. When it completes choose Reboot.

As far as rar files , well, that's an old school computer thing. As far as what is offered here is a Nandroid restore to get to stock that you restore from ClockworkMod recovery.
1. There is not an oden restore available yet for our phone. And is only needed if you really bone up your phone.
2. Nandroid restore can be done without having to have a PC on hand. You can do it from your phone, anywhere.
Downloading this now then will work with base.
THANK YOU!
This totally saved my behind! I used Titanium Backup to restore too much and it messed up some important system files. Until you posted this, I couldn't send text messages or make calls.
THANK YOU!

This is a totally n00b question, sorry.
I put this on an sdmicro card as an insurance policy, under /clockworkmod/backups, stuck it into the back of the S3.
But when i boot into clockwork (from clockworkmod.tar), it doesn't see the sdmicro card at all - it sees the internal 32 GB as '/sdcard' and there doesn't seem to be a way to get CWM to find the one on the actual sdcard (even if I mount sd_external). Is there a way to do that on this thing, or just make sure you copy to internal 'sdcard' over usb? Which I've done now.
it seems that the location of the external is different now so that's probably why you can't see it in recovery
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
has anyone "pulled" the stock recovery .img file for the T999 (if it's even possible to grab it somehow?)? It would be great to have a .tar to flash back to that... unless the international stock recovery tar works for it?

The zip file is to flash in recovery. Adb is also done in recovery.
The .tar is for Odin. Its the link that says stock kernel tar if needed. Load that in the pda slot of odin. And you should know what adb is, if our gonna mod your phone adb is your best friend. Especially in a situation like this.
You should do some reading before you brick your phone.
i reflashed the tar file in odin... nothing still bricked... i downloaded adb and it started downloading all these images.. is that normal? like huge files i think???
