Rogers HTC One X Recovery - HTC One X

Hi everyone,
Long story short I bricked my phone. After doing more research after the event, I learned that it probably wasn't a good idea yet since there is no stock recovery image posted as of yet. I looked through the posts on this forum to find some information, however so far it has been insufficient.
My question is, is there any update on a Rogers 1.73.631.1 stock recovery.img or does anyone have any information that can help me? My phone used to be stuck on the HTC splash screen however now my phone will only load to bootloader.
Thanks

Lock the bootloader and flash the RUU
to go short start over

Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, that list does not have my stock RUU listed as all of those are version 1.26.xxx and my Rogers version is 1.73.xxx. I've tried the disaster recovery thread and I believe because my versions dont match with any RUU listed I can't even load a stock image. Every image I try to load I get a "failed" message, including installing the system.img file from inside of those .exe files.
I desperately need any information anyone has that could help me. I apologize for not posting this in the same thread as the disaster recovery, however I need a minimum of 10 posts to post in that section. Sorry
Am I screwed for a few weeks while I wait and hope someone uploads the proper RUU? I did not get a chance to make a backup as I only got 90% of the way through the rooting process before it crashed and wont load on me. I am using a mac, however I do have access to (and have tried many solutions on) a PC if necessary.
Thanks,
MaidenFan

Hi I am stuck at the same screen
I got the bootloader unlocked and super user installed
I wanted to install Leedroid ROM so downloaded the files and used fasboot to install the version of boot.img that comes with it. Problem is that I forgot to transfer over the rom zip file to the device before doing it so now I'm stuck on this screen. I know, I just got distracted. My fault I know.
(I have successfully rooted my old desire and a wildfire in the past without bother)
I had a nandriod backup done from before flashing boot.img and tried to restore.. It says restore was successful but it it still stuck on this screen. Some help would be mighty appreciated.
EDIT:
The bootloader is now locked again but I think I still have CWM recovery installed however I can't access it anymore. I've tried unlocking the bootloader again but now it says the battery is too low. I keep trying to turn the phone off in fastboot to let it charge but it just starts up again? Any Ideas? Thanks

I've managed to sort out my phone.
For anyone else with the same problem have a look at the following thread to see what I did:

Hey man, did you end up finding a solution for your phone? I'm in exactly the same situation right now. I'm about to cry.

Why users with Rogers Htc One X posting in the international One X forum ?

Yes that's it.
Android 2.3.5
New lockscreen
I have a stupid question, Do i need to have S-OFF to install a not branded(like tmobile) but official ROM ? (RUU one etc.) ?
No you just need to create a goldcard first if your phone is branded.
You'll find how to created one here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142529
If the RUU number is higher i think you can upgrade no problem without a goldcard but might have to be same region as your original rom.

Use goldcard for update
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using XDA App
I'm trying to do this update. It will download it to the sd card perfectly fine. after it reboots the phone to apply the update, it start to load something for less than a second(loading bar at bottom), then just sits there at the android with the exclamation mark triangle and doesn't do anything else.
I have the HTC_A510c model. Virgin Mobile USA CDMA phone. I have the gold card created, s-off, rooted, and clockworkmod custom recovery installed.
The file the update downloaded is called OTA_Marvel_C_Sprint_WWE_VM_1.02.652.00-1.01.652.20_release_220163t0ppyzj10xds3ff7.zip, if I was to rename the file to PG76IMG.zip, then boot into HBOOT(vol down and power), would that work properly to apply the update?? Or should I try to update it through the clockworkmod recovery using either the update with zip, or install zip from sd card??
I'm very very new to droid stuff, On my second Wildfire S as I flashed a GSM rom onto the CDMA phone, which apparently results in a brick. any help with this would be appreciated, am I missing a step?
Exactly the same question, so I figured I'd bump this. Any help out there for the question/issue?
hold up... slow it up a notch
The OP referenced a security update from VM USA and people telling him to flash a gsm RUU to his device. The update is safe btw I got it before I rooted but please don't flash the 2.3.5 RUU. It might make for a really long day for you. Some devs are building [probably as I type this] a cdma compatible kernel. Yes HTCdev has dropped the source code as well [for WFS 2.3.5]. Just be patient, flash one of mine or simon's roms if you want to flash something, and we will have 2.3.5 before you know it.

I asked this question a few days ago because I have forgotton [I'm old]. Pretty sure you have to unroot your device, may have to flip it back to s-on, update, s-off again, root. Its a pain for a minor security update... Its not 2.3.5 Try just unrooting first. Might not have to s-on; like I said, I'm old.

Maybe it uses this thread info : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379543
I havent read the whole thread so I am not sure how it does it but there were CDMA and GSM ppl, all CDMA customers succeeded but all GSM posted that failed.
I think someone here with GSM in WFS forum tested and failed too but have no time to search for it.
I can only say that I am sure for myself that it is working only on CDMA because I have checked the thread but cannot prove it to you, so anyone who wants can check it again

welp... on our own after s-off
marvelc users:
The tool I thought may help does not. at least not for OTA updates. Reason being? You do have to re-lock the bootloader (s-on) to install these updates, and this tool does not accomplish this (although it may for other devices). Also, we have no official RUU (for A510c devices) as far as I've scoured the internet for (these have been reported to switch the device back to s-on). So the old adage applies: Once you s-off your device, you are on your own. At least for now anyway. I tried the better part of the day to get this working but to no avail. The tool referenced above also does not unroot our devices (although I did accomplish this; easiest way right now is an app [in Chinese mostly] called Un-rooting on market). Sadly without a s-on, update fails same way as before. Thought I'd share.

Need to send for rapair - no stock

Ok, I've got a problem here,
I really need to send the device back to HTC, but
I'm using a custom rom. I looked for the RUU I need
but it seems it hasn't been released.
What can I Do?
If i'll just flash some Sense Rom, Will HTC notice ?
I am also interested in flashing my phone to stock version and found the proper guide.
My question is how do i know which RUU to download? there is 1.26,1.28 and 1.29.
and for stock recovery. do we use;
3. Stock Recovery : 1.28 http://db.tt/6mACNeqS OR 2.17 : http://db.tt/gAACW2TN thnx to @mike

To find the ruu you need type fastboot getvar version-main while in fastboot usb mode. It shall then give you the version you need. When it comes to recovery I would go with the earlier version just to be sure.

The warranty that you get when you make the purchase should cover the device. It should not matter really what you have installed on there as it should not affect whatever you are experiencing.
I would recommend searching the forums for discussions on this matter of warranty as I have only had brief glimpses in these discussions.
I have the same issue. Just smashed my screen and need to send the phone back but its running CM10. The email they sent me says that they will install all the latest updates so woul they just return it to stock and fix the screen?

How to install a MM Custom ROM while on KITKAT? (International version)

Day 1, I got my phone I unlocked bootloader and rooted.
I created a backup and tried installing Android Revolution HD 53.1 and it worked, however my WiFi didn't work and boot times would be long, so I uninstalled it and went back to my backup I had made. I read that this happens because my current firmware 1.58.502.1 (4.4.2 KITKAT) is too low (incompatible) to download Android Revolution HD 53.1.
Recently I also bought the sunshine S-off method. So I am currently S-OFF.
ALSO worth noting while I have the international edition of HTC ON M8, I am using T-MOBILE
With S-OFF am I able to go directly to Android Revolution HD 53.1 (which is MM Custom Rom)? If not how do I make my devie compatible with this version?
I would appreciate any help, thank you.

Installing the RUU will overwrite twrp that you had to have to be as far in the process as you are, you'll have to reflash it. http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-t-mobile/news
Check for OTA update just to be sure
Flash twrp

Please do, I'll be more than happy to help with any questions although you seem to have 90% of this down. The other 10% is small stuff only plausible via sunshine.
Lollipop 502 (AT&T) firmware can be found here (packed with custom ROM): http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8/development/att-4-4-3-2-22-1540-3-debloated-sense-6-t2837365
Another option (since you have s-off) is to change to Developer's Edition CID or SuperCID. then flash to Marshmallow firmware or MM RUU (if you want to be all fancy like that). Although the current custom ROMs (including MM ones) should run fine with LP firmware (its KK firmware that is the main problem).

Honestly, I gave up. I was reading some tutorials but did not understand what I had to do. I come from a Galaxy S4 and that phone is infinitely more times easier to mod than this phone. I have had to jump through so many hoops to just root it.

Stick with it. Every device has its own learning curve. And we're happy to help and explain as much as needed to get the job done.
But really, flashing the firmware is not too difficult; especially considering you've already accomplished unlocking the bootloader, know how to flash custom ROMs, etc.
The link I gave you has instructions on how to flash the firmware. After doing those steps (1-3) just flash TWRP 3.0.0.0, as the version indicated in the page I linked is a bit old.

UPDATE 2: Got past the boot, now waiting on "Android is upgrading... Optimizing app 44 of 223" (damn bloatware!)
UPDATE 3: SUCCESS!!! EVERYTHING WORKS, YOU ARE A GENIUS, I LOVE YOU MAN, THANK YOU!
I really appreciate that you helped a complete stranger such as myself, I know you didn't have to, but I greatly appreciate it. Thank you once again man :fingers-crossed:
Running another backup and I will attempt the Revolution ROM once again.

HTC M8 from Three UK stuck

Hello everyone.
I have an M8 with a corrupted software.
Always stuck on HTC logo.
Sometimes when it boots, it shows "3" , which means it's from Three UK.
I looked everywhere but couldn't find the corresponding RUU, except on http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads , but it's only around 500 MB !
It's in zip format.
I can go to the bootloader, but it doesn't accept to FACTORY-RESET (gets stuck on HTC screen)
Software status: Official
RELOCKED
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
I unlocked the bootloader in order to try to install another RUU.
Now it shows "UNLOCKED" .
I installed twrp and superuser (I guess).
According to the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/vomerguides-m8-bootldr-unlock-s-off-t2800727
I have to install the sunshine.apk which I can not because my phone doesn't boot except to the bootloader !
What to do here?

That isn't an RUU, its kernel source, and not going to be of any help to you.

Unlocking the bootloader will not allow you to run another version's RUU. I don't know why you think that, but its not correct information.

S-off is not the correct path, to do what you want (nor should it be necessary - save yourself $25). As you've figured out, you need a working OS to s-off; but working OS is the reason you want to s-off. So you have a Catch-22 dead end.
If there is no RUU, unlocked bootloader and TWRP are good things to have done. Now restore the 6.13.771.4 stock nandroid backup, using the file and instruction here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
Thanks

Thanks for the info.
I know TWRP and S-OFF won't help me here, but I just wanted to show what I've done.
One question, why to restore 6.13.771.4?
How will I know it's the correct one for my phone, and not a part of the pre-installed corruption?

This is the main version given in your screenshot in your top post. And you'll see from the stock nandroid collection, that its the correct version number for your CID (carrier version).
Simply put, this is the stock Marshmallow ROM for your M8 version.
Somebody likely made the backup with a working OS. Yours has become damaged or corrupt (most likely) just on your phone. Not every phone with this software number is going to be broken!
didn't work!

excellent turorial.
I followed the steps one by one,
didn't get any errors,
but it didn't work.
I got the HTC screen, then "3" screen, then stuck on HTC One screen!
Any ideas?

on command prompt on my pc, I can't see the new folder containing the unzipped file, while I can see it through the windows-explorer!

Any particular reason why you are looking in command prompt? Since the steps don't use command prompt (unless you adb push the files).
What version TWRP?
Can you post a screenshot of what the TWRP backup folder structure (on the phone) looks like in Windows Explorer? Not sure what we can be missing here. But its worth a look.
Also, you might try the a Lollipop backup. It should work fine with the MM firmware. Although it may cause an issue with OTA updates (mixing LP ROM with MM firmware), at least it (should) get the phone up and running.

no reason for command prompt, but I just was there and noticed this.
TWRP 2.8.7.0-m8 according to the turorial.
I want to try Lollipop since it was the o.s. when my phone was working properly before I upgrade to 6 and get the wifi problem.
any specific Lollipop version?
I just want a stable version.
thanks
twrp

sorry,
I used twrp-2.8.7.0-m8
I'm confused about what you are talking about anymore. Did you sell the phone or not?

If this is a different phone, you need to give details.
Fastboot getvar all

Help me get back to stock on my AT&T HTC One M9.

I've played with this phone for some time, but am tired of messing around with it and just want to get back to stock with root and unlocked bootloader as fast as possible. AKA have someone walk me through it on a screenshare/call. I'm willing to pay for the help. Not sure what someone would want to tell me what to do and help me do it. Please send me a PM and I'll update this thread when I've found someone.
Current state of things:
Bootloader unlocked
S-On
CM13 from Feb2016 installed
TWRP recovery 2.8.7.0 or thereabouts installed.
I have windows7, 10, and Linux Mint boxes depending on which you prefer. I am fairly technical, but haven't messed with things since I mucked up my phone. I never thought it would be such a pain in the a$$ to get back to stock as this is the first time I modded my phone. Just don't have time to try 1000 things or read 1000 threads. :crying:
thanks
What's your current firmware version? (boot to download mode and copy the OS version number).
I'm fairly certain that AT&T has a Windows executable RUU that will restore your phone to stock. (You'll probably need to install HTC Sync Manager to get the right drivers installed)
---------- Post added at 01:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:41 PM ----------
When you get your firmware version, the key is to only use a RUU that matches your version number or is a higher version. Downgrading is not possible for S-ON devices.
The current version is OS-2.11.502.18
