One X is restarting when playing any audio - HTC One X

Hello,
After unlocking the bootloader and flashing my first rom, the phone restart when i try to change the ringtone or watch something on youtube. I tried other roms but I still have the same problem.
I tried to install:
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_ARA_1.28.415.9_Radio_1.1204.103.14_release_25679_signed.exe
I got this error:
ERROR [155~159]: IMAGE ERROR
One of these error messages will appear when you use the incorrect RUU to update and the image file size is larger than the Flash ROM size. In this case, download the correct RUU version and try again.
What should i do to get this thing working?

I had the same problem. I used the Super Wipe script that Mike provides with his Android Revolution rom - then flashed his new rom. It completely wipes all your data so make sure to make a backup of your stuff.
I have no problems now

Reboots are usually caused by corrupted files. Clean and reinstall.

Stuck in fastboot after downgrade to 2.1 from stock 2.2

I've customized gadgets and electronics before but phones are rather new to me but I'm a very technical person that makes dumb mistakes apparently. Now I seek someone more experienced to put me on the right path.
I'm unable to post links however I followed the directions floating around
directions and now I'm not stuck in the hboot 0.77/fastboot every time it starts. I know my phones not bricked but it's in a very annoying state. I tried a hard reset but this changed nothing.
Currently it's at S-ON and radio 1.00.03 so it seems that downgraded fine. It did get though the whole process fine without error only 2.1 didn't boot up.
I was attempting to do a downgrade so I could root. I had nothing special on the phone so I didn't bother with a backup (besides my sdcard.)
When I run bootloader it tells me "No Images" and "No image or wrong image!" PB31IMG.zip I assume this may have something to do with my problem and I think it's a permissions issue because I didn't re-set them when I backed up my files to format to fat32.
I think this is my problem because I know the files would have lost permissions when I copied. I haven't tried to update again because I assume it will have the same result (that and I've read nasty stories about re-flashing the same version, not that this would do that). I'm unsure on how to get to a shell with the phone in this state or if there is some other way to get it running again. I tried clearing everything and did a hard reset with no luck.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok I got it working by doing a reinstall. Not sure why it didn't work the first time.

Ah.
Here's my new thread on my problem.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783123 Been working on it since last night.

[Q] No ROMs taking, keep getting no MD5 message, phone close to bricked.

I apologize in advance if any of this makes you roll your eyes at my stupidity.
Good Afternoon
I have an ATT samsung galaxy s3, Because of the glitches with 4.3 I was experiencing I decided to install custom software on my phone. So I looked up guides and got everything I needed. I did manage to get root access, and verified with super user. I also installed TWRP and CWM because each kept giving me errors when I tried to install CM 11 onto my phone. I tried CWM first, and when that didn't work I tried TWRP. It says there was no MD5 information found when I try to install any mod. how ever I have used the md5 file checker program and the MD5 matches up to what was listed in this one for example.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2518998
Download:
CM 11.0 Unofficial Beta 7 for d2tmo and d2att
MD5: ef93957db1e6704f23f9015231a82826
So the MD5 matches, yet when I try to install it keeps giving me errors. I also tried other versions of CM that I found on here via links. Right now my phone has no OS as another guide I read some where also said to wipe system data (sorry if that was stupid, I was just following a guideline) And even more stupid, no I don't have a backup because in my naivety and stupidity I didn't think I'd need one as it seemed so simple from all the guides and videos I'd seen.
Yesterday a friend of mine knowledgeable with tech stuff took one of the original stock Image ROMs I'd downloaded and using linux and some program he managed to do some crazy stuff I can't even describe on here. All I saw was a lot of typing of command lines and it got my phone working again, how ever it wasn't exactly the stock image I guess because the phone would not make or receive calls/texts.
Since my phone was powering on again and the android OS was loading I figured I could connect it to my computer and use KIES to download the official latest update so my phone would be back on the legit software. But trying to do that...well broke my phone again. So I'm at a loss now of what to do. Right now I can still get to download mode on my phone, but when I try to get into recovery mode I get an error that "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in KIES & try again." Which I've tried, and every time I try it gives me an error message. So I'm at a loss of what to do next.
So I'd like to get a working OS on my phone asap so I can get calls and texts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. And being new I'm sorry if I broke any taboos or did not give some information that is typically given when describing a problem.

same error happened to me yesterday and spent the whole day figuring it out. get into download mode. boot up ODIN and reflash your preferred custom recovery. after that, i couldn't find anything else to restore my phone with so i installed 4.3 leaked from here. doesn't matter which one you select. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498233. place it on your sd card and head into recovery mode, wipe data/factory reset and cache. head to install zip from sd card and select the 4.3 zip you downloaded. reboot system and it should work. the at&t boot screen takes a while so be patient

First of all thank you for trying to help me, I hope you are having a good Thanks Giving.
I used the thread you linked to, and downloaded the version with out knox. I followed the instructions
transferred ROM and flashed kernel file to SD card
used odin to flash TWRP,
used twrp to flash rom and kernel file.
and it takes the file thankfully, there's only one issue. My phone can't make or receive calls/texts. Is yours able to?
I messed up and was playing with things That I had no business playing with and decided that I should do a restore of a backup (TWRP) I made as soon as I rooted the 4.3 OTA. well it has soft bricked my phone. it was a TWRP 4.3 Nandroid and has me messed up a little.
so far I tried My nandroid (no dice now a soft brick) cleared cache and dalvik, It was booting as far as the white at&t spinning thing,
Factory reset same on booting,
Tried a format of the internal sd this is where it gets sketchy it now goes as far as the second samsung screen(the one that says Samsung GALAXY S III)
4.3 OTA .zip (no dice TWRP wont flash it) same on the booting 2nd samsung boot screen
Tried the files in the link above and got a Hard brick
Used the debricking .IMG file and got TWRP and download mode back
Any suggestions?
Looks like I might need a JTAG/RIFF BOX for this one. If nothing else I spent many Hours of darkness discovering the darkness of android 4.3
If I get recovered from this and with a different rom like 4.1.2 I will be happy. the 4.3 OTA was very stable but I did miss wifi tether and the whole hardbrick thing was kind of a bummer. it would be real nice to have an ODIN file to fix this (AHEM samsung) or atleast perhaps stopped the progression of it to a hard brick.
New update
I got my phone booting up again however there is a catch. That unbrick.img file on my 16GB sd card is still required to boot the phone and I have no cell service what so ever. Tried to check apn settings because at home I sometimes get poor service and I run net10 so I was going to fix my apn and it says insert sim??? the sim is properly inserted???
Next Update
the bootloader I flashed apparently flashed to the external sd card? I flashed another one and it is booting from the internal sd. I had to flash a different modem the one in the bootloader/modem file I flashed from the link above didnt take? I got most everything sorted out, but im getting tired, it has been an all night adventure. its 08:23 est now
sorry for the delay in updating this I had to get some rest.

Go into Settings, About Phone, Status and check to see if your IMEI and Serial Number are present. If you only lost your IMEI there's a guide on how to inject it back (I'm not sure where the guide is). However if you've lost your serial number and don't have a Nandroid that can restore it I don't know what to do.

I updated my post above and showed my soultion. I simply had to flash a new modem and almost everything was kosher. I also had to flasah a different kernel but that was for preference not because things werent working.

I used that modem, flash it and see if your problems go away. I use Net10 so after I flashed the Modem I had to create an APN aswell, but that is nothing new for me.

It should be, I'm working right now so I don't have time to fine the guide on how to inject your IMEI. If I remember correctly it involves using QPST. If you have an old (or any) working Nandroid backup that should fix the problem.
FYI, make sure you don't use the guide for the international S3 as it has different hardware and folder structure/contents.
As for the APN, it should automatically fill itself in since it reads it off the SIM Card (I might be wrong).

So I guess the next question, do I try again to install kit kat on my phone.
I've already made bucks of my existing working phone haha....but I'd still like to have kitkat in place. I believe the issue of my phone not reading MD5 confirmations would still be in place, does anyone know how to remedy that situation?
At the same time I'm more than happy to leave my phone as is.

Pretty sure you can turn off MD5 checks in TWRP. Probably in CWM too. Sorry if this has been mentioned. Didn't have time to read the whole thread. Just skimmed through.
2nd, there is a major difference between an IMEI that reads 0 and an IMEI that shows unknown. If it shows an unknown simply reflash your ROM and modem and you will be good to go. Sometimes a reboot is all you need. If your IMEI is showing a 0 on the other hand its gone and will require that it be injected back in which is a messy situation that usually results in tour phone being stuck on EDGE.
3rd, as someone mentioned on the previous page, restoring a working nandroid will NOT reinject your IMEI if it shows up as 0. No amount of flashing anything will get it to come back. Not even stock. It needs to be reinjected manually.

The information provided by you is not sufficient. There are some points i would like to know about.
Have u rooted your device?
Are you flashing through ODIN?
ROM version?
Did you make data wipe/ cache wipe before flashing over a previous firmware?
There are many threads associated with this.So please take a look over that.If you don't find answer then we are here to help you

Thanks for Calling me "Sir". But seriously no need to say it. Say it to real developers.
Now coming to the topic,
For your information, keep in mind that when u flash the Official firmware through ODIN, You loose the root access.
Don't restore any backup. Just flash through ODIN. After flashing Wipe Cache and Data wipe is recommended too.
To gain the root access again you need to flash recovery from ODIN.
Other members looking at this this thread please correct me if i am wrong .I still not getting which backup the guy is talking about.

oh sorry sir, i'll make it clear, my last firmware is 4.2.2 and my rom is GENNEXT, but when i encounter the problem, i tried to go back and flash the 4.1.2 stock firmware, then later i discovered that i have a backup from my previous rom(GENNEXT running 4.2.2 firmware) so i flash again the 4.2.2 stock firmware and flash the philz touch recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache then restore the back up, then my phone is restored but theres another problem sometimes the screen blinks and the phone reboots in a few minutes after the startup.

OK. Then it may be the problem with your GENNXT ROM cause the problem occured after restoring Backup.Try the fresh install of latest build of GENNXT rom.

i already tried it sir but it didnt solve the problem, it passes the setup but after a few minutes the phone reboots.
You might want to try one of the AOSP-based ROMs (CM11/Slimkat/Carbon/Omni/ProBAM) and see if it fixes the issue. If it still reboots even after installing one of those ROMs, then you probably has a faulty hardware. If it stops rebooting, then you probably has a corrupted installation of stock firmware...
Faulty hardware = get it to a service center, but be prepared to pay some bucks because you have already lost your warranty...
Corrupted stock firmware = try to flash the firmware again via Odin but DON'T RESTORE ANY BACKUP. If it still reboots, redownload the firmware package and reflash.
I'm not an expert, but I figured that your phone is already unusable by constant rebooting... let's just solve it by trial and error.

This is probably the best explained and most direct definition of what to do and what may be happening with our ever-rebooting Grands.... Thank you!!!
Had to create an account to thanks naufalhadyan
I was running on LineAgeOS 13.0 for a while until yesterday, when I went to install some random play store app and it crashed then went on a infinite rollercoaster with absolutely no fun making loops every time it got of the boot animation, did a factory reset, on the 2nd or 3rd app it crashed and looped, flashed another .zip with the rom, same, installed an RRemix on the same version (I like the 6) and when installing another random playstore it crashed the same way, now i'm on a AOSP 6.0 flashed from the recovery and so far i've been downloading the entire play store (just for kicks) and its smooth.
I don't use come to this troubleshooting section but on the last 24 hours there were some major bugs regarding endless loops, maybe a play store update came bugging our grand duos'? Is that even possible?

Even iam facing the same issue
phone reboots automatically and doesnt even start... infinite bootloop. Was working fine and suddenly this issue came up from nowhere(past 2 weeks) ..
Iam using Resurrection rom 5.7.4 (Marshmallow)
Damn I was on AICP 11, when this exact strange bootloop problem occurred for no rhyme and reason. I know the hardware is fine, the issue arises from installing apps from playstore, the moment it goes beyond a certain app limit in the device, it will start endless bootloop, I am sure this is Google's doing. Anyways this is not a hardware issue and I know more people will be coming here looking for answer to this issue. I have tried both the opengapps and deltagapps, same behaved this way, it never happened before and lately google have introduced one other app which is google's android instant app that will sit in your device, even though you need it not not. very well google for using our precious internal data to around 500Mb to 1Gb.
formating data partition solves this issue, temporarily but you lose your apps and data.
I had successfully avoided this issue when I stopped installing more apps on my device, It took me 2 tries and I found a perfect balance of 4-5 apps, it came crashing again when I tried installing the 7th app.
I don't know if other ROMs will be able to handle this bug, but I know it's time for me to look for another ROM, I was happy with AICP 11, for more than a year. Sad.
Reading about this issue, I came to know this is prevalent on all CM marshmallow based ROMs. So, going to flash Nougat or kitkat or the stock ROM should probably fix this.
Try a new battery.

[HELP] IP Address and MAC unavailable , WIFI and Bluetooth don't turn on

I've done everything to troubleshoot this. I even factory reset, it failed. Flashed factory image, it failed. Done the thing where you put a file in the persist file, and it failed. Flashed a custom ROM and it's still not turning on. Anyone know why or what I can do?

Your symptoms would seem to be radio related. Download the full factory image, extract the radio file from the zip, hook the phone to a computer and fastboot flash radio radiofilename.

I've done that. It still won't work, even on PIE.

Maybe we should take a step back... Did it work previously and you did something that stopped it from working? If so what was it you did exactly since it was last working? Also I seem to recall there are "baseband eraser" files that can be used to clean up a bad radio but no idea if they exist on pixel i know they did on nexus 6

I only noticed it not working last night. The only difference that may have happened is using a different charging outlet + cable since my previous one stopped working. Otherwise, nothing has changed.

Could it be you took the most recent update OTA and it somehow got corrupted? If not and you have flashed the radio and even I believe you said the ENTIRE factory image I would start to suspect hardware failure as I have no other ideas what to try.
Me personally I would try downloading the full image for oct and use the flashall bat and let it completely wipe and reload everything to stock even if you did this once i would try again. The only other thing I can think of is if you have twrp loaded try booting to the alternate partition... aka if it says your on a boot to b of your on b then boot to a

I think it's a hardware failure too, just kinda sudden though. I did the complete flash-all.bat of the Oct one and fresh factory reset, nothing. The wifi simply won't turn on. Time for a new phone I guess.

Crosshatch Issue With ROMs & TWRP. Strange Occurrences

Ok, So Here's The Deal.. The Thing.. The WTF
So I had an older version of the Scorpion ROM installed and working fine for a while and wanted to change it up. I downloaded the newest TWRP. Both image and installer.zip, newest Magisk and RR 7.
I flashed the latest stock and you know, followed all the proper steps and after I flashed RR 7, it wouldn't boot up. (Not the issue) as others have had the same issue with RR 7. I left a post about that on the RR 7 thread and went about reflashing stock and proceeded to find a different ROM to check out.
No matter what I try to flash: Lineage, Scorpion, RR 7, dotOS the same thing happens... Everything flashes like it should, but then it won't boot, AND THEN every time I boot back to TWRP to try something else the haptic feedback vibration thing on the pixel 3 xl goes banana sandwich crazy and won't shut off until I reboot to fastboot to flashall to start over. LOL
And not only that but when I jump back to TWRP to try to flash something else stored on the phone, it says the storage is empty and there are nothing available in the menu. And I couldn't get a screenshot but there were some errors that have popped up in twrp as well...
Could This Be An Issue WITH TWRP itself? Because it does it with every single ROM I have flashed today. It's very strange. I have never ran into any issues like this when flashing ROMs, Kernals, etc.
I'm lost. Any help would be awesomely appreciated.
UPDATE: It now vibrates constantly in TWRP and when I reflashed to factory it did the corrupt software screen so I gave it a good ole' factory rest and then it was is stuck in a loop at the G while conecting and disconnecting to the USB over and over and over... now back to corrupt software screen.
I guess I'm just going to have to reflash Stock and just leave it.
Update 2: Still Give The Corrupt Software Thing After Performing FlashAll - soooooooooooooooo

Couple of things. Yes there was an issue with v3.2.3-4 TWRP and the vibrator, but that is separate from your boot issues. Go to the dedicated TWRP thread. As for your updates, 1) an FDR just deletes your data and so would not solve your issue. and 2) Guessing you removed the -w switch from the flash-all script or you would not be getting the corrupt software screen. Run the script again with the wipe switch in place, allowing it to wipe your partitions and start over. You've already deleted all your data with the FDR so it won't matter. Best of luck!
Always late to the party.

So yeah... I just now logged back on and saw your response [I have had notification issues on everything from Reddit to FB since I have had the 3XL]
About the response, I have had the issue with it showing the corrupt software screen a bunch when flashing new stuff. The reason I perform the Factory Slap is because it allows me to enter the menu where I have the option to "Boot from ADB" or whatever it says, sideloading seems to be the only way I can make progress when it starts giving the corrupt error.. The reason I didn't perform the full wipe but I can't remember exactly why now since that was over a month ago.
But I finally got it fixed, and I was going to repost because I had found a way to prevent the vibration thing from happening in TWRP but by the time I got around to posting, the new update had fixed it. Lol
