Q: Any WindCA users running yakju? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I am thinking of flashing yakju but wanted to get feedback from those that have already flashed it in terms of signal strength and battery life?

I have a friend who just last week switched his girlfriends Wind phone to Yakju.
While he didn't mention anything about battery life, says the phone works perfectly fine and is snappier. It was previously on 4.0.1.
He changed his Bell Nexus first, then once everything was deemed fine on his, he did his girlfriends wind. Both on Stock 4.0.4 yakju now with the LA2 radio

I am on wind and was on 4.0.1 yakjuux for the longest time, and since switching to the 4.0.4 yakju my phone has only gotten better. I never had the signal drop issues with IMM76D, my battery was amazing and the phone felt overall more smooth. I haven't felt any changes from IMM76I but supposedly it fixes signal issues.. which I never had so meh, whatever lol.
Bottom line is, yakju on wind is sweet. I made 2 of my other friends flash it as well, and they love it too!

Awesome. Thanks for the replies. I am going to make the switch today.

Sorry typed yakjuux by accident instead of yakju for the 4.0.4 update I installed. Yakju is buttery smooth

[BASEBAND][RADIO] SC04DOMKKD and new SC04DOMLA1

I do this post today because I discovered this radio, flash it in CWM recovery and I have awesome results with it in download and upload, stability, and more...
It's not originally for the I9250-model, but for Japanese NTT Docomo Galaxy Nexus (SC-04D), which should contain the same hardware.
It works...Test it...Enjoy...

Do we know anything about when this release was created?
My GNex is GSM, VODAFONE FRANCE, and this radio boost really my connection, that's really awesome ! When I go to the countryside, after with edge reception, now 3g @ 1200 kbps down !
In my home, after 2200 kbps down max, now 2900 kbps down, fantastic !

Works good for me 3/4 3G all the time, with KK1 i had 1/4 or even Edge.. and i also lost my connection dropping all the time with Android 4.0.3 and KK1
I don't lie, I think you see that, lol... Happy to share this very good baseband...

I tried this one out for me:
Ping dropped from 130 to 90 and data was extremely stable with 2 bars stable like you normally see with Wi-Fi.
The rest can say.

You should upgrade to the KL1 radio, kk1 is old.
###########
Now on this one (compared to the kl1): ping slightly faster, download horrendously slower (0, 57 mbps - kl1 gives me 2,3 mbps), upload more or less the same. Back to kl1 for me..
Tested at the exact spot & on full signal. o2 Germany
To Vangelis13 :
I'm very surprised by your results for this radio, I've try before KL1, good radio but the best for me is SC04DOMKKD, after one week of try for both...

It obviously depends on network coverage and country - not everyone is going to get the same results
I'm happy to stick to 'proper' i9250 radios as I'm getting awesome battery life with it
This radio works with canada aws bands?

Wonky reception, faulty radio?

Hey guys. These past few days since I flashed 4.0.4 it feels like something is amiss. I have a very shaky reception and can consider myself lucky if I have tree out of four bars, and while I have three bars, I have no connection to Google sync (the bars are grey)
My father who also has Telia (carrier) on all his phones, has perfect reception all the times without signal loss, however I'm not so lucky. My SIM card doesn't seem to be the problem, so I'm suspecting radio issues. Ever since I started to flash custom ROMs, I've been using the XXLA2 radio which came with the 4.0.4 upgrade. I currently run CM9.
How can I be absolutely sure it's the radio? I'm asking, since I'd really avoid flashing radios.
I was thinking something. I suddenly remember how I don't really run a "full" XXLA2 radio. More like a patched one. When I had flashed stock 4.0.2 yakju on my previously yakjuxw device, and I chose to upgrade through a "ripped" OTA from a guide here on XDA, I noticed the OTA "patched" the radio.
Can that be the issue? That it's patched and not really the full XXLA02 radio?
Update: I reflashed the XXLA02 radio and the problem still persists, so I don't really think it's because of the radio. I'm going to consult Telia about this to see if it's because of them. Strange, though, as my father has almost full reception all the time and he also uses Telia on his three phones.

I'm on a full 4.0.4 radio and have always had issues. There comes a time when people need to just accept that the radio hardware sucks. Its always been like that for Samsung devices. I was always told on my Fascinate that a new radio would fix it...nope.

Strange. My dad has a Samsung Galaxy S2 and no problems whatsoever. Perfect reception without signal-loss or loss of connection to Google's servers.
I can't say if I had this issue while on 4.0.2

It's perfect. WiFi isn't handled by the radio, though, it's handled by the kernel. I'm going to see if this clears up by tomorrow. My carrier said they have some breakdowns, and that it was supposed to clear up by tomorrow. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

At least there's a huge chance its not your phone lol. My reception, wifi, display, battery and sound all suck. The other 4 people I know in person that have an LTE nexus have the exact same problems.

Sorry to hear that, bro. My phone's sound is a little dodgy, though, but I'm sure it's nothing a little tweak can't fix.
How about returning the phone for a warranty claim?

The issue is due to the min CPU power being to low to support the radio. If you are rooted you can raise your min CPU level to fix the problem. Anything above 500 seems to work...

I get this loud lawn mower type sound when listening to music while using data. It goes basically as loud as my headphones can go and scares the crap out of me. I hardly listen to music anymore just because of it. My wifi doesn't connect to my schools network using EAP. The top half of my display has a different tint than the bottom as well as lots of banding/burn in. I go from 4 bars 3G to 1 bar and then no data at all and not being able to send texts to having 2 bars 4G and losing that in 3 minutes...I should exchange my phone huh? Lol

The signal loss problem is a fault in the 4.0.4.

I flashed back to stock 4.0.2 and I have the same issues.. and I almost never have signal even when NOT in standby.. right now I'm using bamf and CPU minimum is set to 700.. I'm thinking mine is hardware and not 4.0.4.. I bought the phone 3 days ago on 4.0.4 so I don't know how this phone was behaving before 4.0.4..
I'm just confused.. I've tried everything... was the reception issue only a problem on standby or all the time?
Anyone have any ideas for me to try?

I just flashed yakju 4.0.2 to see if the signal strength would be better, but I'm facing exactly what you're facing.

4.1.1 signal drops the same as 4.0.4?

I've been having random signal drops on my stock gnex and I can't figure it out. Is it the same issue as it was on ics? I am on straighttalk with att sim card. I live right on the edge of what I'd call great signal so that may be the issue.
Still having issue now after rooting and flashing a rom. Is this a radio issue that is known?
So you didn't root or anything?
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel, overclocked to 1.4GHz
I also have same problem some times could you tell me how can i check radio version and how to upgrade it ?

Fido Nexus: OTA beyond 4.02

I was wondering if anyone with Fido has received an ota beyond 4.02? We just receives the 4.02 ota yesterday. When I pushed for an update manually yesterday (been trying since July) it found one. I assumed it was for 4.1 jb. Instead it was for 4.02?? Has anyone received anything beyond 4.02 from fido without rooting or flashing a different build?

It's not specific to Fido -- all Canadian carriers have the exact same build. No one has gotten anything higher than ICL53F (i.e., 4.0.2) pushed to their devices, but one individual had JRO03C (i.e., 4.1.1) on his phone when he received it back from warranty service. Thread here.
Thank you!

I had the exact same experience last night. Been waiting since launch day for an OTA on my Canadian GN (except I'm with Virgin Canada). I got all giddy when the update message popped up so my first thought was *gasp* JELLY BEAN!! But low and behold I merely went from 4.01 to 4.02...A bit concerning since I looked at the change log on the Google site seems 4.0.2 has bugs with NFC & stability. I feel this update is a total slap in the face. When I have more time I intend to manually update to either yakju or takju, that's what brought me to XDA in the first place.

Verizon and GSM Galaxy Nexus question

Hi,I bought this phone from Vodafone Romania a couple months ago...when i decided to root the phone(because the bootloader was already unlocked when I bought the phone) and start flashing some roms i didn't knew if my devuce was Verizon or GSM. I tried updating the software but the latest was 4.1.1( a month ago),and now I think that tge phone was bought from Verizon and imported in Romania by Vodafone. I flashed a GSM system image and from that day i continued flashing GSM stuff. Now I'm almost sure that I have a Verizon model but not totaly sure and I'm a little scared flashing a verizon image...what are the risks if my phone is a GSM and i flash a Verizon image? Is that safe? What are the chances of bricking the device? I really need some advices. Thanks!!!
It's not a Verizon model. Verizon is CDMA and yours is gsm. Just convert it to a yakju and then you'll get all the Google updates.
There are a few guides on how to convert your non-yakju to a yakju. But since you're flashing ROMs, you don't need to worry much about it.

I started thinking about this because I have a strange delay when i want to lock the screen. It lasts like 1-2 seconds from the momentni press the power button to lock the screen before it actually turns off and locks. I am on bigixie 4.2.1 stock and stoxk kernel. I alreasy have yakju,i can see this in the bootloader, the only thung I can't understand is why I have that stupid loxk screen lag/delay and others don't...
That is actually a complaint about 4.2 ROMs. It sucks but there's not much you can do about it.
But it doesn't mean you have a Verizon gnex...

There's many things op can do actually. I never had this problem when using my galaxy Nexus. It is not normal and op should replace his Rom with one that is more optimized for android 4.2 than that Rom because it isn't optimized very well as its a stock Rom.
Go with Cyanogenmod or any well developed Rom. Along with a kernel that is popular such as trinity or Franco kernel and you should see a significant performance boost and the lag hopefully will not be there.
