Verizon Galaxy Nexus 4.0.4 IMM76K now available - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

The official download link for Verizon Galaxy Nexus 4.0.4 has been discovered. Here's what you need to do in order to upgrade from stock 4.0.2 without needing to be rooted first.
PLEASE NOTE: My apologies for the flip-flopping. It appears Step 4, the booting into CWM Recovery, will NOT work if your bootloader is locked after all. You will first need to unlock your bootloader to use this upgrade method. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BACKUP YOUR ENTIRE PHONE BEFORE PROCEEDING. Unlocking the bootloader wipes ALL data on your phone and it is NOT recoverable.
For instructions on how to update without having an unlocked bootloader or root access, see the link at the bottom of this post.
1. Download the OTA ZIP from: http://android.clients.google.com/p....signed-mysid-IMM76K-from-ICL53F.12f767e7.zip
Mirror: http://min.us/mhhv9ahG4

Mirror: http://emuneee.com/downloads/12f767e7a5d0.signed-mysid-IMM76K-from-ICL53F.12f767e7.zip
2. Copy the ZIP file to the root of your Galaxy Nexus internal SD card and rename it to update.zip
3. Download and install the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400871
4. Once you install the software and drivers for the Galaxy Nexus, start the Toolkit and select Option 9, to Boot to CWM Recovery without Permanently Flashing it.
5. Once inside CWM Recovery, you can choose to apply /sdcard/update.zip
6. Reboot when finished and enjoy!

you'll absolutely need to have the 4.0.2 radios (EK02/EK05) first, since the LTE radio is a patch file. Link below taken from Rootzwiki.
Download them here: http://synibox.info/synik4l/razorloves/4.0.2Radios.zip

Will this muck up aokp? Also need to reflash stock radios are those available

Yes, go back to the 4.0.2 radios before flashing.

Also, the bootloader appears unchanged from the earlier 4.0.4 leak (PRIMELA03)

I dont know if this is any indicator but I just went from 4.0.2 and had -93dbm and did not move the phone once I flashed the new 4.0.4 radios and I am now showing -83dbm.
Lets just see how good the 3g/4g handoff is.

Is the zip supposed to be only 39.7MB?

This thread makes little sense to me. Are the new radios any different from the prior leaked 404 radios or no? What's the base bands?

Need a little help regarding kernel/radio???

Apologies ive posted in general it shouldve been in Q&A sorry, Hi, I updated from 4.0.2 to 4.0.4 stock yesterday but my download and internet speed was terrible, so I flashed android revolution 3.0 and the problem still stayed the same, so this morning I flashed android revolution 2.15 or whatever which is 4.0.2 but my problem still remains??? My download speeds are crap I'm only hitting like 10kbps sometimes???
Now I've looked in about phone and my baseband version is still XXLA2 , is this where my problem is coming from?? If so how do I change it??
Is baseband the kernel/radio???
I wish I knew the answer but just recently got my gnex and am a bit unsure of what to do???
If anyone could help I would be most appreciative
Thank you

The baseband is the radio, I've unlocked my phone and use fastboot to switch between radio versions.

I'm not familiar with flashing the radio outside of fastboot as I've only owned Nexus handsets and always unlocked them, am sure someone will come along and explain what's possible.. Here is a handy list of all the available radios

Yes, you can flash a radio in either fastboot mode, or CWM. See the Baseband sticky here.
P.S. As far as terminology goes (simplified a bit):
baseband = radio image
kernel = boot image
you can flash radios & kernels through clockwork... just download the flashable zip and flash it like if it was a ROM in CWR

4.04 Verizon OTA 5/22

Looks like the OTA is available to download again, it's on the Google servers. Might be pushing out soon if someone finally hits the switch.

The zip file is the same file that was sent out before for IMM76K that mostly corporate store devices received. I believe the URL may even be the same. Either way, Android Central posted the URL for the update and it is in the OP as well, since people obviously didn't read the OP before posting...
Can't this be flashed thru stock recovery or have,to be unlocked? May just wait for the push if it has to be unlocked

Awesome instructions. The only hiccup I came across was renaming the .zip file to update.zip actually renamed it to update.zip.zip, so I just renamed it to update and it worked perfect. Thanks again.

No. The OTA will apply just fine assuming you haven't changed anything on the system partition. Also, once the OTA completes, you'll lose root, but you probably already know that.
so they got the ota or not today? will it be the same radios and such from the leak earlier this month?

Doesn't seem like anyone has got the OTA notification yet, but yes, it's the exact same file that came out May 1. MD5 and SHA1 hashes are the same.
As far as I can tell, this is the same as the earlier release (MD5 is the same) and therefore the radios are the same as the earlier 4.0.4 release.
The one way audio commonly called microphone cut out has not been fixed with this release. I still have this issue with 4.0.4.
Since this impacts the usefulness of the GN to perform as a phone, I am now going to examine other options such as the HTC rezound.
you should be able to trade your phone for a rezound about .00002 seconds after posting a trade in the marketplace.

Returning to stock from Vicious 4.1

Having LTE problems with flashed 4.1 vicious rom. So trying to go back to ICS. I am using the current toolkit 7.8 but when i do option nine it is unable to extract the tar file from the tgz. It dowloads the file it just wont flash it? Any suggestions or easy answers to returning to ICS thanks!
Why not put the latest JB on the phone? Get the images from Google and flash them ADB (the only way to do it), it takes 10min max.

By stock images you mean they don't come with the extras Verizon adds?
The question is: Can a Verizon user flash the CDMA/LTE images from Google and have a functional phone?
I believe the answer is: Yes.
Personally, I had no issues flashing the GSM images downloaded directly from Google in my phone purchased from Play Store. It should be the same for Verizon binaries.

Radio flashing questions.

So I am on Verizon and I see there is an update for the radio in the development section. There are a lot of people that say its an improvement and a few people that say is made matters worse.
My question is if I do the update how do I go back to the original radio?
And if worse come to worse could I just do the "back to stock for replacement/repair" method? Idk if this method manages the radios but any input would help.

custom combination of radios
Some users have reported positive experiences with the 4.0.2 CMDA radio (EK05) and the newest LTE radio (FG02). I'm assuming its not as easy as downloading both the 4.0.2 & 4.1 radios, unzip, remove the cdma radio from the 4.1 folder, copy and paste the 4.0.2 and rezip > flash.
any suggestions on how to go about testing custom combinations of radios?

There are hybrid radios out there where you can just flash them. I went from a factory radio 404 to a hybrid 404 to a hybrid 411. The only real differences I noticed were how long it took to switch between 3g and 4g.

[Q] Issue with installing 4.2.2

Hi all,
I have recently gotten a Galaxy Nexus and have been trying to run the update for 4.2.2 and whenever it restarts to update, it goes to the android lying on it's back with it's stomach open and a red triangle with exclamation mark in it. I'm pretty sure it hasn't been rooted (no SU installed, another way to check?) and I have done a bit of searching but haven't really found anything that doesn't require the use of ADB etc to fix this, so I wanted to check if that is the only way to get the update on.
Here's some info about the phone:
SIM Unlocked
Current ROM: 4.1.1
Baseband: I9250UGKL1
Current Build: JRO03C
Product Name: Tuna
Variant: Maguro
HW Version: 9
Bootloader Version: PRIMEKK14
Lock state: Unlocked
Apologies if I have missed some obvious bit of info somewhere and thank you in advance for pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks!
