Hey guys, Saw this thread over on the TF prime forums and thinking its needed here.
So im probs gonna be picking up a One X, mainly cos i think its a amazing phone. But heading into this forum, and its pretty much plagued with negative threads about what isnt working, why they dislike the phone etc... and it generally gives a really bad air about the phone. :/
So, in order to restore some pride for the One X, post here what you like about the phone.
I will go first, i havent even got it yet, but i love
1. The screen
2. Sense 4.0 i think is beautiful, fast and initiative.
3. the size and weight etc are just perfect.
what are your favourite parts of the One X?
The screen, not only does it look fantastic, it feels fantastic.
The weight....this phone is so light!
The camera...best cameraphone i've experienced, how far technology has come compared to 10 years ago
The speed...instantaneous opening of apps
1.The camera! Really is amazing..
2.The screen..just wow
3.The speed
Screen is amazing. Originally I wanted a one s, but after seeing them side by side the choice was obvious. I also didn't plan to use my phone for games originally, but tegra is superb - shadowgun is unbelievable for a handheld (or even Xbox360)
Camera is super fast - I can take pics and vids of my toddler (who certainly doesn't stay still for long) no probs

how delicious the sandwiches that it makes me are
Download and Play Riptide GP, and then let the phone show you why It's top class.
Unfortunately I've gotta get a replacement due to A defect.
but this phone is superb.

hey buddy yes i have. will miss checkrom and yeah the s2 community but to be honest the guys here are great as well and development is even greater. no spoiled brat devs and not one that thinks he is the dog's bollocks..the devs here are great and are amazing and roms man are just great...so many tweaks, and man development has only just began give it time and this development can only get better.
i was going for the s3. but the deal i got here with the HOX i could not turn it down. Plus i love sense. anyways great to see you here and look forward to chatting to you soon again..hit me up if you need any hand sometime
To be honest, I have not experienced *any* problems with my HOX.
Definitely the best part is the screen. The backlight is so even that the display almost looks like a sticker on top of the screen
Speed is fantastic, I LOVE Sense 4. In some respect it's like an iPhone for Android: it just works. Just better. I am running the unlocked stock image and I have to admit, I don't miss a thing (except TomTom for Android but that's a different story). Ten thumbs up from me.
No problems here only excellence. Had two different colors no problems on either. Only excellence. Party on

I have not but can say that stock google is probably the only plus vs this
The screen, the raw power, the screen, the flawless build quality, the screen, the camera (best one HTC had ever made), the screen and... did I mentioned that the screen is awesome? Like someone here said - images looks like a sticker, not a LCD image. Colors are great, pixel density is great, backlight is even, daylight visibility is good enough. I love the gentle haptic feedback of the keyboard, it almost feels like a real keyboard. Build quality is just what you should expect from HTC - excellent. No cracks, no squeaks, no cheap feel. The sound is fantastic (I was lucky enough to get urBeats headphones as a gift for being one of the first 500 to get the phone).
Last but not least - the community. HTC owners on this great forum have always been the friendliest devs I have ever seen and once the S3 is released hopefully the sSheep will stop with their bashing of the phone (mostly based on watching YouTube videos and reading reviews from sites that marvel the idiocy of the iPhone and the messed colors of the amoleds).

I agree, but you would probably loose the camera app if you go for AOSP and the stock android camera is worse than the HOX's.

The screen...I absolutely love how beautiful it is, looks stunning against the black/white of the chassis. O, and the chassis. Smooth to the touch, lightweight and not at all "too big" (as some of my friends suggest). The camera is simply amazing.
I love Sense, always have, and with this device, I think HTC have really stepped up to the plate. ICS is just awesome.
I waited a long time to upgrade my Desire, kept putting it off and putting it off...Desire S, hmmm, not yet...Incredible, hmmm, not yet...Sensation, maybe...but not yet. OneX, yep sold. Stunning phone, have had no problems whatsoever. Love everything about it!
The crazy fast camera! Let's you take candid shots without blur
The screen makes everything jump out. And I'm just hooked on Sense. I always find small functionalities and details that describes well thought-out design and UI, despite complaints about its bloat.
One X to rule them all
awesome display. premium build snappy camera and sense 4+ beats audio makes one x the king of smartphones

If you really like this phone post it here, and show your love. For those of you that purchased this phone and have minimal to no bugs post what you like about this phone. This thread should not turn into A hate or a thread on whats wrong. The goal here is to see how many of you got phones that worked well like most of the reviews that are out there save a few.
Don't get it twisted either this is not meant to discredit any bugs that are manifesting out there, but to factually find out if there are more non issue happy ONE X users over the bug plagued users. Soooooo....if you have this phone and it works well for you post your experiences here. All of you that have bugs keep it in the bugs thread please.
Again this thread is just to find out if there are more happier users than bugged users lol
Great thread.
I love this phone, from the 4.7" screen that looks like the pixels were painted on by Pablo Picasso himself to the micro drilled speaker grille.
My heart melts when the mighty beats icon flashes up in all its red glory whilst firing up Spotify, the smooth scrolling and lighting fast response from any app it gets a sniff of.
When I pick this bad boy up it doesn't need my gentle touch to open up but so familiar are we that it simply unlocks like an old friend opens his door when you come calling by....and I call by often.
We were meant to be together, I am my One X and my One X is me.

My first android device was the original Desire (always remained original with the official rom i.e. never rooted), secondly owned a SGS (10 months) now it feels like back to home btw with the SGS I have tested many custom roms, gingerbread and ICS AOSP roms, MIUI, CM7, CM9 etc etc
Android + Sense, especially the Sense on One-X is a perfect mixture. I really feel the quality when it is in my hand, convenience and safety in one place, fast, smooth and responsive. Absolutely the best android experience till today.
The screen Man! Its amazing!!!!
Thread starter, you do realise a lot of satisfied users are happily enjoying their one x and didn't bother to look into this thread right? I don't think doing a comparison this way is accurate.
Personally I have a problem free one x for the past 9 days. I love the way sense was built for our convenience at the same time look stylish. All came out of the box rather than some UI that looks so "iphone" boring. Glad that the battery life is more than enough as my daily driver. All device comes with their pro and cons. For the One X, what more could you ask for?

It very well may not be However; this is a beginning. I know the reviews mostly were great so now I want to hear from people that are happy, and using this phone as opposed to the bug complain thread. This way when I talk about possibly wanting it I wont hear about all the unhappy XDA users. I can then say that there are plenty of happy users, and if that wont happen , maybe I should look to purchase something else. I watch this forum anticipating the Sprint EVO ONE 4G LTE.lol
100 views 6 replies man is this all the One X love there is?
Loving this screen, SoundHound integration, cameras shutter speed, sound quality and volume of it.
In first few hours couldnt bare how this device feels comparing with SGS2 which is feels much slicker but now kind of like bit "full" hand feel of OneX. Finish is lovely and this handset is incredibly light for it's size.
only thing I have problems with is the power button on top... but I guess that will go away after a while.

I must tell you this is why I posted this thread...so much negativity. I understand about the bugs and things but damn......seems to me that it's turned into something else.
I don't want any haters or bug posting issues here I want just love for a possibly great device for people to see that it's not that bad of a device if this thread turns out the way I hope. If not then the phone must really be bad if people can't support the phone they bought that many are tearing down.

Coming from my trusty HD2 which has served me great the last 2.5 years the One X is a major leap forward amazingly fast!! However I got a faulty unit with broken camera but that does not break my love for this device. Apart from the camera it was perfect. Smooth browsing, lag free gaming and battery life.. well that will be better and better with the coming updates
Now I'm patiently waiting for my new device and just can't wait to hold it again.

So, had the One X since release date, always had HTC before this. But after having all the issues that have been described here on xda, I spoke to my network (3 uk) and they have said that so long as its within 28 days of the 4/4/12 that they will either replace it for a new one or any other model that they stock.
Now, I'm a flashaholic. I do not want to use the HTC unlock method, always relied on the very clever peeps here for "alternative" ways of s-off. But as it seems the biggest team of Revolutionary aren't working on the One X. I'm considering leaving the HTC brand and moving to the Galaxy Note?
Have any of you guys left the note to come here? It looks the part on paper at least?
Anyone else from 3 UK willing to take the plunge if the offer was sat there?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I think you shouldn't switch to the Note...
Sooner or later there will be a S-OFF tool.
The NOte is IMO too big, but that's your decision. The other reasons why I dodn't get the note:
- DPI is not as high
- the PenTile thing, this means the display has 33% red and blue subpixels. some people don't notice, but I do: there's not a single straight line. it appears as if every other row of pixels was shifted by 0.5 pixels; I just can't stand it.
I highly recommend you to check if that's a problem for you before getting it. Just saying
P.S: Even though the One X isn't perfect, it's the phone the closest to perfect I ever had.
Iff i waz you id go for Gnexus over note the note is ridiculously big my sister has it as a work phone
Mod or Die
see the thing is i am on Three UK as well. and i had the choice for my two replacements i had so far to go for a different handset. and both times i got close going for the gnexus. now all this hype about quadcore for me i am sorry i really did not notice it so far with the HTC one x...yeah apps load faster than ever but 50% of the apps stuck in loading phase...anyways still a great phone i say and i am more than likely to stick with it because i am really liking stock Sense now
but i do miss overclocking and undervolting and also using an AOKP rom...tough decisions to make one thing i do hate about this phone is though why HTC locked the bootloader..why not just unlock it..
Note no way man stay clear of that huge thing..no no no
Hmmmm? Thanks for the replies folks. As for the size issue (that's what she said!) Im not thay concerned, saying that I've never held one! But I currently have a Advent Vega, that if the Note could replace might be a good thing? Kinda streamline my tech, save me carrying 2 devices?
But aswell as a flashaholic, I'm a sucker for POWER! 1.5ghz quad core vs 1.4ghz dual core? I feel in a real dilemma, I love HTC, always have, but the ONE X has, so far, let me down.
@Dobbi, I will look into the red/blue pixel issue, I have now been spoilt by the quality of the one x screen! It is nice.

all honesty mate...it is like cameras..more megapixels does not mean you are going to get better picture. same with the quadcores..so far i would say and yes i know i might get flamed for this my s2 dual core felt bit more snappier at times compare to the one x. so if you are really a flashaholic then maybe the phone to go for is the gnexus...the development for that phone is crazy...but at this moment of time i still will go as to say i will stick with the one x..this must be the longest time i gone without flashing
In all honesty too........my Sensation felt better than my One X.
Please don't go mad at me people. I not a massive sense fan, so that was always the first thing that went once s-off was achieved and all the roms about seem to be sense based or desensed. Not AOSP. I respect all our Devs massively and I am not clever enough or do I have time enough to even begin to learn how to build roms from the ground up using AOSP. But even the sensation was lacking in these roms.
Oh man. I may have to have a long hard think about if I'm ready to leave HTC.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Note is excellent don't let anyone put you off it, I've played with it many times and the size is a sweet spot. I've had the S2 before the HOX and don't find the HOX that much of a jump in size. It's nice the 4.7" but the 5.3" of the note gives you some more real estate.
You get use to the size after a while.
I'm holding ship with the HOX for the time being the only phone that can sway me away will be the SGS3 only if it excels the HOX but for me it'll be down to the software side and not hardware. Sense > TouchWiz.
I'm in a similar situation only that I've not ordered my HOX yet and I'm coming from a Galaxy Nexus. My biggest issue is to be frank all the problems you guys seem to be having with the htc , i dont care what people say you should NOT be having these sort of issues with a final retail handset. I jumped to samsung with the galaxy s2 after years of htc handset (android & wm) and looking back I'm glad I did. How can anyone defend this locked bootloader policy? seems like the days of simply plugging the phone in and flashing straight from the box are gone for htc which brings me onto samsung.... everything is geared towards flashing there phones, hell Ive even got a £2 clip which unbricks your samsung should anything go wrong With all that said I always a space in my heart for htc just a shame this whole mess may have put me off this time round.
Come next week when I can upgrade I'm 90% sure I'll order the samsung note partly for the reasons above and partly because it is such a sweet device despite the PenTile display which is not noticeable, trust me
oh and dont go for the gnexus if you use any games what so ever the gpu is crap and the main reason I switching (missing my psx gaming fun)

Right. I'm going to go into the 3 store to play with a galaxy note, along side my One X and compare them in real life usage tomorrow.
Real life usage, not stats on paper, not benchmarks, just what feels best. C'mon HTC don't fail me after 4 years of brand dedication.
Report back tomorrow peeps.

Let me know how that goes. If my One X replacement still has issues I might swap for a Note too.
I've used both nexus and note. Of the two the note is far better. After a day, the size is no issue. Plus the screen looks great, battery from what I've seen is good, but there is noticeable scrolling lag when compared to the one x.
That being said, the slight lag is not bad enough to deter someone. My dad loves his note

Honestly, it's good to be back. The One X is a fine piece of hardware. Love the camera software, love the screen. Hate the placement of the power button, but that's another story.
The completely broken multitasking on the One X drove me back to my Gnex and I'm very glad to be using it again. Seriously, it's nice when the phone just works the way it's supposed to.
Too bad HTC didn't do a little better quality control before releasing the One X, unless they intended multitasking to work that way, which is even worse.
Anyway, I was never unhappy with my Gnex and now that I have seen that the grass is not greener on the One X side, I will be sticking with it.
Oh the button placement...when will HTC learn? Also, harware buttons....EW

Welcome back OP
I heard that HTC heavily restricted the multitasking on the One X. Is that the problem why you come back?
I've only had a chance of playing around with the One X in store demo cases. I do agree with you on the screen though. It's gorgeous.
If someone could run vanilla ICS on the One X then it would be godsend.
I just ordered the nexus. Looks like I did the right choice. =)
Welcome back OP I was in the fence to get this or the Evo LTE but I like so much more AOSP that I prefer this over better screen or camera

Yeah always hated power button on top, especially on these large phones, really hard for one handed operation.
And in the ICS age should be software buttons nit hardware anymore.
Only other phone that interests me besides the Nexus, is the Nexus-Four, but that beast is 6 months away.

Nice to have you back on the WINNING team lol.
I've heard the one series is pretty disappointing. I played with the One S at T-Mobile the other day and I was disgusted... comparing it to my old sensation i dont see where the improvement is...
The screen sucks. Sense 4 sucks. Coolest thing about it was the recent apps window and we have that now through AOKP. Long story short I'm glad I got the gnex over any of the One series phones. I can't even believe I was considering the One X at one point... damn quad core

So many ppl jumped on the one x bandwagon. I played with it and don't know what the hype is all about. Other than the attractive poly carbonate shell, nothing about it was that much better than the gnex.

I think the only thing I'd ever abandon my Gnex for would be a Galaxy S III
Welcome back comrade
The only thing I really hate about my Nexus is the damn location of the headphone jack!
Why did they decide to put it at the bottom?!! it makes sense on the ipod but NOT a massive 4.6" screen phone!
I played with one the other day and it still had that sense lag and lack of smooth functioning. That's why I bailed on HTC. It's a shame since the hardware and screen are great.
What's the limitation of multitasking? How's it different from the gnex?

No way would I do that...
But then again, I pre-ordered a Nokia 808, so anything's possible.
If I like Symbian (all over again) I'll keep the 808. If not, and I can deal with the microSIM adapter, I'll use both my GNEX and 808.
Interesting times we live in...but it's very hard to beat the GNEX for sure.

Restricted is not the word. It's completely broken. Like it kills everything you have running in the background, even streaming music. And it does not even save the states of the apps like iOS does. In its current state, it's completely unusable.
I also went through this cycle.. Despite the HTC ONE X having an amazing screen and good battery life, i still found my GN to be much better.. Non-hardware buttons FTW!
It was my first HTC, and i've got to say, I really do not like the UI. Don't mean to hate, just not for me. Also found that the UI kept re-drawing for some reason.. I used Apex Launcher and even removed all the widgets from HTC stock Sense Launcher and it kept re-drawing which was annoying.. Never happened to me on any other phones..
Ended up selling my ONE X.. and super happy with my GN still
So what was wrong with the multitasking? I haven't used one, but it seems to me that something with that much power under the hood should be better at multitasking than the GNex. Did it lag? Did it close apps so you had to start over when you jump back to them?

It refreshes every time you reenter the app or Web Page, very annoying, sold my vzw gnex for this but now I'm considering ordering a gnex off Google play and returning my hox don't get me wrong the screen and camera are phenomenal but there are bugs which I'm sure will probably be addressed in the future ota.

I never consider One S because:
1. non-removable battery
2. $600 no contract
3. less developer support
4. only quad HSPA

battery lasts pretty long, and new One S can be found for low-mid $400s
HTC One X Owners and potential buyers!
Would you buy it / buy it again if you had a choise?
Or you better give a chanse to Samsung/Sony/Nexus/LG/Motorolla?
Or just stay on your old device and wait untill something new arrives?
Definitely buy it again. Right now, it is still king of the market. NO ONE BEATS ITS SCREEN. and since screen is the number one biggest thing we interact and use everytime we use the phone, it is THE MOST IMPORTANT PART LOOOL.
In a whole package and a custom rom, the one x trumps any conpetitor out there as it has the best hardware foundation. GO DEVS GO

Hard to say... I might look for a similar device with a bigger/removable battery, external SD and USB-OTG support. If a device like that didn't exist, I might still buy it.

About battery: Read this (but we have now with the new base about 6h screen time and its still not officially released...i am not sure that i will use my phone 6h of the 17h i am awake every day)
About external SD: Its a smartphone not a PC, with the 28 GB (user available) i am really satisfied.
About USB-OTG: I am sure we will get it soon

I agree.
I would buy it again because I love the feel and look of the phone,
but an external SD would be nice
all honesty no i would not buy it again... i would go for the galaxy s3 just for the pure reason that the development for that phone is much bigger than the One X. but even though i would not go for another HTC phone i really do love my current one now even after all the issues my phone had
I definitely would. I always felt that Android 2.x was just not as polished feeling as iOS and I didn't enjoy it very much, but ICS finally closed the gap IMO. After that I was just waiting for some nice hardware to come out - high pixel density screen with nice colours (which pretty much barred anything AMOLED, since I've hardly ever seen one that wasn't blue tinged, which really bothers me), nice physical design, and powerful enough hardware to do everything smoothly. The One X is just about the first phone to meet all my requirements. The GNex was quite close as well though, being one of the few AMOLED devices I've seen whose screen I didn't mind, but at the time that the GNex came out I was not ready to move to a new phone yet.
In short, I love my One X. Nice upgrade from an iPhone 4. There's not too much I miss about the iPhone, and plenty of things I love about my HOX that the iPhone just did not have.

How about the apps and games that were on the iPhone 4?
I've also had an iPhone for about a week, and I have an iPod Touch, I love Android, but I'll be completely honest, the Android applications and games can't get nowhere near the level of the iPhone ones, not sure why but every iPhone app and probably game out there is beautiful, it's polished, some of the Android ones are too, but it's being held back by most of the ugly ones.

I think he's saying that you can flash everything to your hearts content but nothing the developers over at SIII will release will make you have the same screen the One X has, and this is the truth, doesn't matter if 1,000,000 developers group up to develop a ROM, the screen will stay the same .

There are only two games that I miss from iOS. Rhythmatic, and Strategery. There are a few other apps I couldn't find Android equivalents to but they were apps I hardly ever used anyway. Anyway, I still have my iPhone around, so I can use it as my mobile gaming device/iPod and use my HOX for texting/calls and Facebook/Twitter/etc. (iPhone could do it as well I guess, but I only have one SIM card, which is obviously in the HOX).

I usually don't play 3D games on my phones, never really got into the on-screen touch controls, I just hate how my favorite game Drop 7 looks DISGUSTING on the huge screen of the One X, if I could only normally play this game everything would be perfect.
I played it a few times. It was graphically quite impressive for a phone, but I didn't really get into the gameplay.

The HOX was my second choice device, my first choice being the HOXL (the 32GB intl version) but as for as I can tell it hasn't been released yet ans I am pretty happy with the HOX especially since the 2.05 rom base which is much smoother and responsive than the 1.2x base

I mean as in regards the many roms on offer on there side. Some of the best roms out for the s2 are being done for the s3 now. And would of loved to try them out. Were here we not having much variations.

Considering the source and the need for yet another one of these threads, and after careful deliberation between the two offered choices, I have no other recourse but to disclose to you my final decision.
iPhone 5 ...
iPhone 4 if the price is a bit out of reach.
this is like asking a sales car person at the bmw dealership which car is worth buying, a bmw or a benz
Just a warning if you are considering the AT&T HTC One X the newest update 2.20 is not yet rootable. This isn't a problem for the international or Canadian version though.

Hey, I'm less moody and sarcastic, but try the search feature, there are many other threads discussing this issue.
Another bit of advice, you're in the One X forum, you're obviously going to get bias

Why not consider the soon to be released ONe X+ or the I9305 newer variant of sg3 about to be launched...................
my sisters got a s3 and i got the one x i gotta say both phones are amazing the one x has a better screen more brightness s3 has better battery life, one x has better audio and one x and s3 both play games really well. HTC One X has more human touch
As of my experience HTC One X has more human touch in its user interface (Sense 4). Polished look of Sense is a key advantage over Samsung Galaxy SIII. I mean, look at Sense widgets - time, music, settings, gallery, calendar - they are great looking. If you look at SGSIII TouchWiz interface and widgets - it looks like they were designed by techy people, not designers.
In terms of device design SGSIII has an advantage - a genuine Samsung leather hard flip cover, available at most stores. It replaces your standard back cover in a fancy colorful way. HTC also has a similar solution, but it makes One X looks a little beefy.
Regarding ROMs - it is pretty easy to install custom ROM on One X. There are plenty of Recoginzed developers who is trying to improve our devices on a daily basis in their ROMs (ARHD, InsertCoin, MaXimus, LeeDroid...).
As for me, I chosen One X because of its UI design, camera and ARHD ROM.
Hope this helps.

Cant you read? The choice was HOX or SGS3. Ahhh the trolls.:laugh::laugh:
If you want tegra enhancements then go for hox (wait for the one x +). If you want amazing audio go for the s3 (wolfson DAC). That's pretty much it. Oh and sense is brilliant vs touchwiz that is just plain dull.

Don't forget HOX is Playstation Mobile certified as well.
thank you all
one x of course in my opinion but i have used both an it really depends on what you want it for
one thing I hate from S3 is the plastic look, turn off

If I'm honest, the only difference between the S3 and HOX is a few slight differences such as screen.
THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE IN MY OPINION IS THE DESIGN !
If you want a very expensive pebble, get the S3
If you want the Rihanna of phones, get the HOX its beautiful !

I wouldn't consider screen differentials as slight differences.
To me, the screen is the most important feature of any large touchscreen phone.
And the HOX screen is 'Much better' than what Samsung offer on the GS3.

But if you want a phone to flash a lot of roms and stuff and nearly impossible to brick.. Go for s3. Personally i don't need any rom on my hox it feels better then custom s3
