Root boot loop when plugged in and powered off - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've searched but couldn't find anything relevent as Tapatalk doesn't have the search features that the web version has.
My question is, is there a boot loop problem when charging the Arc S while powered off through a dead battery when rooted, as my Arc S shows the Sony bootscreen, blue Notification comes on, then back light comes on, notification light goes out and screen goes off and starts again. The only way is to launch CWM & reboot through CWM to get my phone to start properly and charge while booted.

What kernel are you using? Stock ICS?

Nah, it'd say "Sony" instead of "Sony Ericsson" then
Mine charges without bootloop btw

[Q] Clockwork or based recovery for Arc S

I have a LT18i, Android 4.0.4 with build .431 and it is rooted and has a locked bootloader. I have looked everywhere for a way to install clockworkmod recovery on it without flashing a custom rom or kernel, but it doesn't seem possible. Next, I tried a clockwork based recovery but only found DoomLord's recovery. But it had LT26i or Xperia S listed as the device so I'm not sure if it would work on mine. Will it? If not, is there any other clockwork based recovery I could install?
try the CWM Auto Installer on Google Play
Download pvyParts' Xperia CWM Auto-Installer from the market. That should give you access to CWM.
Do keep in mind that it's been reported that the phone doesn't charge if you switch it off; it tends to bootloop. It works fine if the phone is on though. Pvy will be updating the app shortly.
This works well if you want to take Nandroid backups and (or) flash update.zips.
And if you do plan on flashing custom kernels, you would need to unlock your bootloader. For custom ROMs, you're limited to Stock based ROMs till you do decide to unlock your bootloader.
Cheers!

Thank you for your reply. I found a thread about Pvy's installer but there it was stated.that it would only work on Gingerbread 2.3. It wasn't stated so on Google play though. So are you sure it would work on Ics 4.0.4?

See this thread. It states donot install if not on GB.

Trust me, it works. I'm using it on my arc on ICS 4.0.4 .
And the only problem of using this on ICS was mentioned in my earlier post. I'm quoting it below.

Thanks for making the application pvy. I installed it and it worked perfectly except for the charging issue. But I wonder what would happen if the battery got completely drained and the phone switched off? Just curious to know since it wont charge when it's off.

Just plug in the charger and power it on. There shouldn't be an issue.

You Need to start over from stock. See the recovery thread in my signature. Don't worry you can fix your phone. Your not the first one to do this. Just read every thing in the first post.

Read the charging cycle section of the OP. You may have missed chances. If you get red led try plugging into a computer and look for bootloops. Fastboot flash a complete Rom with kernel. Try soft reset between loops. Also try holding volume up button during loops to get to fastboot.

Try to take kernel.sin from some stock firmware like xx.45 or xx.55 (will be available inside FTF file, open it using winRAR or someother app) and flash it using fastboot (asumming you know how to flash, please refer to SXS forum help for flashing)
fastboot flash boot kernel.sin
is OK NOW

AW: [Q] xperia s totally dead
If you are able to access cwm recovery you easily can flash the old kernel.
If not then you have to put your xs in fastboot or flashmode. Depending on what you wanna flash.
After that use flashtool to flash a system of your choice.

Use Sony's own flash tool called EMMA.
Everything you need can be found from there: http://developer.sonymobile.com/2012/12/06/new-flash-tool-from-sony-for-unlocked-xperia-smartphones-video-beta-download/
And read every instruction you find. Every single one of them.

Z1 Compact boot loop..

I have a problem with my Z1 Compact..
I followed this guide: http://dottech.org/147609/how-to-root-sony-xperia-z1-compact-on-android-4-3-jelly-bean-guide/
And after I have flashed the DoolLordkernel (fastboot flash boot boot.img) the phone is stuck in a bootloop. Normally i would just remove the battery - but this is not possible on the Z1 Compact..
So how do I get it out of bootloop? so i can get it into fastboot and flash a proper kernel/boot.img ?

what did you do after you turned it off?!
i am indefinitely stuck in a bootloop :crying:
Did someone manage to get out of this? I'm also in a boot loop after flashing boot.img. Even though I switch the phone off by the red reset button, whenever I try to turn the device on it goes again into the boot loop...
Any suggestions appreciated, thanks.

Phew!! I got it working again!
Thanks God I diddn't need to go through that hassle after all (I mean: getting a stock firmware and flashing). I just flashed Z1c_DooMLoRD_AdvStKernel_FW-757_v04.img, which is a boot.img, and the phone booted again.
Now, may I please humbly swear a bit to whomever put out there a boot.img for the Xperia Z1 compact, that bricks the Xperia Z1 compact? If someone's interested, I closely followed the instructions from this link http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_amami and I run into a boot loop after flashing the boot.img included in cm-11-20140504-SNAPSHOT-M6-amami. So, be careful if someone wants to flash this rom.
Did you use the right version of the boot image file for your phone?
Don't forget that cm11 is still in development for these phones. There is no stable version yet.

Hmm.... I guess I did. Picked the least unstablr of them all. I know that s**t happens, but Gee!, to the point of bootlooping? ?
