[Q] 7digital disable - HTC One X

Hi
ive found something strange, whenever i disable that alwful program 7digital my phone slows down and lags like hell.
I Had had to reset my phone twice in the first week so i decided to disable the bloatware one by one to try and find the program that causes the problem, farcebook, twatter, friendstream all gone then as soon as 7digital removed the phone becomes like an old g1.
im currently running 1.28 on an unlocked unbranded stock phone (not hacked).
has any of you guys had any joy removing this crap without adverse problems.
cheers

I disabled it and it's fine (1.28.401.9, 100% stock)

thanks mate, wondering have you also disabled the social networks?, seems really wierd that i cannot disable these stupid apps without major slow downs.
thanks again

No, as I use them...

t-mobile HTC desire won't shut down

apologies if this is covered elsewhere.
anyone else got this problem. I read somewhere its quite common. My Desire will not shutdown. everytime I have to hard reset by removing the battery. If I shut just after it has started it will work but after a short length of time if I try shutting down it will not.
This is quite annoying. I'd rather not send back if I can avoid it. I recently received an OTA update from HTC but this did nothing for it.
I also have the problem with application launcher but quick uninstaller is a satisfactory work around. otherwise a great phone which I would recommend to anyone apart from this issue.
I had a very long shutdown time took several minutes to turn off. As I removed (see my comments regarding memory) most of the apps I had installed myself this prob is gone. So it must have been one of the apps that didnt allow the device to turn off.
Its as Jannen said, Have you ever experienced a long shutdown with windows? Its exactly the same thing with Android. Sometimes it struggles to shutdown the OS efficiently. I think its something we are going to have to live with, or you can get a task killer (app manager) and kill all running tasks before you shut down your phone.
But i must say it has not happened to me since i have been using helixlauncher2, so it may be a Sense problem?
JD
ok I treid killing all processes on taskos (except sense which is in the ignore list) and it shut down in about a minute. guess I can live with that...
android is a bit windowsy at times. But in a good way if you know what I mean. love the customisations and can live with the occasional process crashes etc... that this means
yeah had the same problem, sometimes it takes about 10 minutes to shut down.
sometimes killing all apps works, tho sometimes it doesnt.
someone also said to unmount the sd card first.

friends stream doesnt update under low storage

Basically, my desire seems to constantly be suffering from low storage issues due the desires complete inability to install apps to the SD card ... and i only have about 6 apps installed (bring in Freya!!)
I have a cache cleaner but that doesnt free up enough space
anyway, the problem is that the friend stream widget i have on one of my homepages doesnt update when the phone has low storage...has anyone else seen this or know how to fix it?
Yep, I had the same issue a few days ago. At first I was confused as all other data services were working fine, Facebook was also working fine using the Android app.
Had to remove a few apps and Friends Stream starting working again. Phone storage was down to 12 MB; it's been at roughly 16MB since then.
this really sux, ive uninstalled everything i dont really use and still only got 13 or sometimes 14mb left and cant get it above 15.
was there any QA done on this phone at all? Ive got a background in QA and i find it so hard to think that testers could miss this many simple bugs on a phone
irt sucks right? in the same boat now.... lame... some things about this phone (which I love) are starting to really annoy me.
inability to shut down without pulling the battery out. DUH
inability to push gmail or friendstream due to low space DUH

Maybe try holding the button on the top for a while then a menu will pop up which will allow you to shut down

I'd read the caveat about doing this, it does carry risks if you're installing lots of apps etc.
I noticed a new problem after this fix. It's still really fast and nice, but after a few hours when i played with it again (my galaxy S i mean), apps started to close the moment i opened them. Now i do not know for sure if this is caused by this change, but in case it happens to you, i fixed it by killing all running apps, putting the phone in standby, and after a few sec i could launch everything again.

[PROBLEM] Random freezes/crashes on Desire

Hey,
I know theres a lot of threads about htc/android phones freezing and crashing/rebooting but none of them really described my exact situation. And since it's getting worse and worse and driving me crazy, I wanted to ask for help.
As the title suggests my HTC Desire keeps freezing and crashing (sometimes rebooting, too).
It all probably started shortly before I first rooted my device, following the great sticky noob-tutorial. First problem was, that sometimes my phone wouldn't wake up from standby, especially after I a missed call (rooting didn't solve that problem).
Some time later, now rooted and with a custom ROM, I noticed, that sometimes when I wanted to use my phone, it showed the PIN-screen, which obviously means, that it rebooted quietly (don't remember if this also happened before rooting).
A few days ago it started to completely freeze, when connected to the charger. Orange LED showed it was charging but no reaction to pressing any buttons or disconnect the charger.
Since yesterday it also crashes randomly in standby mode (can't wake it up) or e.g. when watching a video (just freezes the device, no reaction to button-pressing, screen stays on etc.)
now I am running the stability test with the charger connected - no problem for 1h10min til now...
The ROM I am running is the latest cool sense (problems also existed before the latest update)
No modification of CPU (I used to use SetCPU but since I thought that would cause the problems I uninstalled it -> no improvement)
What could be the problem here? (And how can I solve it, of course?)
Anything else than a full wipe, which could help? (that would be my last option...)
Thanks for helping...
it just happened again -.-
I was just backing up some apps with titanium backup and in the middle of scrolling through the list - freeze!
dunno what to do...
is this hardware or software related?...
Hello.
It would be pretty easy if it is a soft problem. This kind of problems are usually dealt with by installing another ROM and see if the problems persist. So if you want to try and eliminate the last option, go and install another ROM, it can be a Stock ROOT-ed ROM, Sense or anything.
The fact that you mentioned your phone was crashing even before rooting got me thinking it is a motherboard fault. I've read some threads in which people had the same problems, and in the end they all got to the same conclusion: motherboard fault. The only resolve with this is to get it to guarantee.
So first of all try installing another ROM and if the problems persist, you will need to install a RUU and see if this one eliminates your problem. If not then I don't know if there is anything else you could do, besides getting it to the guarantee.
I wait for your progress.
Hi,
thanks for your reply.
The funny thing is, that I didnt have those problems with this ROM in the beginning. Everything was fine, that's why I was using it the whole time. But as I said before, it became worse by and by... thats why I thought it could be an app or so...
that would be a recent list of apps: appbrain.com/user/marioiram/
Cannot even sync my newest list, because after freezing while watching a video, it froze again shortly after reboot... still getting worse
Try reinstalling the ROM or installing another ROM.
hm.. just when I was thinking about following your advice, my desire stopped freezing xD
no crash, no freeze oder reboot since my last post.
I even tried to force it by watching videos, playing games, connect to the charger etc.
everything is fine... strange.
Will see for how long
Well this is good news. Just keep in mind what you can do if the rebooting comes back. Hope it doesn't
Well, it did xD
Now even shortly after reboot. I'll try ROM changes as soon as I get home but there's something I noticed: it often freezes when it's supposed to display a whatsapp notification and sometimes it seems there's a problem with the sdcard (just bought a new one because my old one went nuts). Sometimes the notification 'sdcard was removed unexpectedly' (translated from German) is appearing, but after waiting a few minutes everything is fine again...
Well I'll try some stuff when there's time...

S7 active getting slow and laggy after all OTA updates

So far I never rooted or flash any rom manually. All OTA updates from Android 6. The phone is getting slow and laggy sometimes which really annoys me. Of course the number of apps installed might be an issue, but I don't have any games, no Facebook. All my apps are utilities like banks, smart homes, etc. I have hard reset a few times but it doesn't help. I believe the updates play some roles here as I didn't remember it being this laggy when I first bought the phone and it was on 6.0
So what should I do? I don't care if it's Android M or N, root or not. I just need a smooth phone. Does flashing back to 6.0 help? Or does rooting help? Thanks
Have you tried backing up your data and doing a factory reset?
Edit: Sorry, I guess that's the same thing as a hard reset. I don't have problems with my S7A being slow, and it's updated to almost the latest version (G1).
I am on BQH1 but I remember it happens in G1 as well. The most annoying thing is the fingerprint ready is not as responsive as before. A lot of time I can't unlock my phone with my finger.
yes , i have noticed after the new update take long time to wake etc , even after the factory reset , i am planning to go back marshmallow
but the interesting thing is that some times its OK no issues .
Slow Updates
Since upgrading to 7.0 Nougat my Play Store is slow as hell. Downloads are fast once it finally connects but it takes forever to start. I have factory reset phone.
Does anyone got a fix on this? The phone is just slow as hell, and I often find it's hard to unlock it, or just open an app...

Disabling some system apps (AT&T and Samsung bloatware) should help, using Application Manager. Disable apps that have no business running in the background or connecting to the net. Also, run Device Manager from time to time.
To make the Home button significantly responsive, DO NOT map it's double-press action to anything. Make sure that S-Voice cannot use it: disable in S-Voice settings.
I am assuming that your device is non-rooted, just like mine.
I belive earlier updates of Nogat works much MUCH more smooth on this phone.
I'm gonna start over from the D4 verison- I was running stock D4 nogat and everything was amazing... I go to this latest L6 December security update... total trash.
