Hi all,
Was thinking it would be good to have a couple of check lists for the one x.
Hardware check list
List of all the checks to do to ensure your HTC One X is built correctly.
1) Check Body for any damage / marks
2) Check screen for any yellow areas
3) Check screen on diffrent color backgrounds for dead pixels
4) Check screen for any marks or dust between the screen and glass
Some maybe obvious some less so... What else do people check for?
Initial Set-up Check list
List of steps to set-up an out of the box or factory reset stock One X so its optimal
1) Fully charge the phone while switched off
2) Install updates
What else would you do? I've read people saying about unticking items in the developers section of settings, what about doing something with GPS so its more accurate and connects quicker? What about this mystery power settings menu I've seen a post about, what are the best settings there? What about the camera and changing the sharpness setting?

Hi
It seems that there is a bug with creating short cuts for applications to appear on the today screen! In theory you can create up to 5 shortcuts. This feature is very unstable and currently I cannot create even one short cut. In the short cut selection screen it keep saying 5 short cuts although I have selected non, then I can’t exit the screen unless I do a soft reset.
Any one has the same problem?
Its easier to use clauncher or WiseBar2 with the desk top plug in to get desktop shortcuts installed (have a look at the iPhone threads in the General section for some ideas) - Mike
If this is the bt shortcuts today plugin, on my device it has two sets of options, one is directly accessed from the o2 icon bottom right of today screen and the other, where you select it to actually display the 5 shortcuts, is in settings/personal/today/items/shortcuts. Apologies for stating the obvious. I know nothing.
Yes there is a bug as I have it as well. Ignore the second comment on this thread....its not about how to display the shortcuts but how to get rid of them! I set up 4, but the Orbit said I had 5...and on my Today screen there are now 4 shortcuts plus one strange greyb box the same size. Tried soft reset etc etc...definitely a bug!

I have exactly the same problem. But I stopped using it after I had installed another application provides better service.
After a few months of use...
Notifications - opens every (ear listening) call, apparently my ear shape hits the top bar and the machine thinks I want to see notifications. Since the machine knows it's orientation - it there a way to prevent an ear-activated notification request when phone is vertical, or during a call?
Screen overlays - I bought some and added one, it got scratched and I peeled it off, and now I see at least 2 more! I think I see a glass that fills the frame, a smaller overlay, and another, smaller overlay. My basic thought is to keep peeling as they scratch. I want to make sure that if I get to 'glass' that I have not messed anything up - a decorative overlay (maybe with the browser size slider markings?) or a functional part of the touchscreen assembly. Is there anything I can mess up if I just keep peeling?
Thanks any and all!
Eep, I know know if I'd "keep peeling". If you feel like the screen itself is pulling back, I wouldn't do it. Resistive touchscreens do have 'layers' if you will...
Weird, in WinMo the prox sensor should work just fine - make sure it's enabled, the screen should turn off when your face gets close to the screen.
See this video for a demo.
Thanks for reply.
I'll look for cabs that may have affected the sensor (basically OEM update + a few goodies) as I can find no HTC/WinMo setting.
Were you saying you don't know if you'd... or now know?
Should there be a factory layer, exposed the user, that I should NOT peel off? ( I knew factory touchscreen at one time, they were soft overlays over CRT's.)

I have no idea, since I can't see what you're peeling. I've never completely disassembled one of these, but I've seen pics/videos. I also know a little bit about how touchscreens work (a little!) and I know there are layers that you should not be peeling back - without seeing a detailed pic or the device in person, I don't feel comfortable saying "yea, peel away" when you could be potentially damaging your phone.
OK - I removed all cabs, still not working, did reflash, same, did task 29 and reflashed, still not working.
Found something called 'Advanced Configuration', played with Light sensor settings, and now that works great, never knew it didn't before (auto did nothing).
Is there something similar for proximity settings? ( I would have thought a connector inside was loose - that's why I messed with light sensor - but that 'healed' and now I want to 'heal' Prox too!)
I peeled down to a full chrome-filling ?glass? layer that looks thick and just a bit wavy - still no Prox activity - and put a new screen saver on that - so that's not it.
Anyone know settings/cab/registry for Prox activity?
Still don't have proximity function... I'm thinking in call, object (ear) near HTC symbol should blank screen and also deny touch response.
I downloaded registry editor, and found some settings. Tried, well many combinations but no results.
I do find that some don't stay set - I change them, and reboot, and they go back to say "0". They are ProximityDetectStatus and ProximitySensorOn . I'm thinking (supposition) resistry settings are static - that they do not reflect machine activity, only editor or user's other software actually changing values to store - rather than indicators of current machine activty (button is now pressed, button is now un-pressed). Is my regedit process (change, close, boot) correct?
I'm left wondering - are registry settings reflective of current activity while regedit is open or even the moment it opened? IE, can I use regedit to show me if a switch is pressed?
Anyone else, help?
I'm on OE ROM, CHT and CHT editor
Hello,
I reset my z1c to factory settings and now I'm trying to get the look and feel back as it was before.
I made screen prints from my xposed modules but I did not do this for the normal phone settings.
When I plug in a headphone I always get the message 'Headphone connected', this message stays on top for a short while before disappearing.
I know I did not get this before resetting my phone and I like to switch it off but I dot know the application responsible for this notification.
I know there is a big list of apps in the manage notifications section of settings - personalisation.
I guess it must be one of those apps in the list but I do not know which one.
I know I can switch them off one-by-one but this is a tedious operation I'd like to avoid.
Does anybody know which app to switch off in this list?
Thanks
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday my rad new Xtrons Android headunit was working almost* fine and today, after following conventional wisdom and letting my 15yo nephew pimp it, it's in all sorts of...well fckd.
Keen on some help from the collective wisdom. Before anyone helpfully suggests a factory reset... well, that's been done, sooo many times. When your nephew CHANGES the factory settings, it becomes a cycle of hell.
Unit is an Xtrons PB86MTVP. 8" HD, Android 6.0' Octa-Core 64bit 32GB.
Current main problem is that the touch screen inputs are reverse and diagonally opposed. What the hell do I mean by that? If I want to type on the qwerty keyboard or simply tap an icon, I have to use my cunning and hit an area or button diagonal and opposite for it to work. If I can get past this issue then maybe I can move to the next one which is that the unit doesnt power on/off with the ignition.
To be clear, things tried (multiple times in some cases) include
Reset via reset button
reset via software app section
undoing car battery
pulling unit back out and disconnecting
turning on and off again
swearing
So, who can help? got a silver bullet?
TIA
Joe
You could go to settings start right down the line set your home screen back and you should have a setting there for different keyboards also that should get yoy back to normal

thanks for the reply djkeylenux. I've got the right keyboard though, thats not the problem. the problem is the touch input on the screen, no matter which screen I'm on.
Well beside calibrate witch I thing you tried you could also go to developer options take a kook at running process see if there's something running causing the problem,
I think you lost the MCU settings.
Go to settings and then into Factory Settings menu. Password is 126.
Then in keys tab re-calibrate the screen. During calibration you will first see a "+1" in one of the corners. Tap it with your finger. Then in opposite corner "+2" will appear. Tap it too. Then accept and apply ypir settings and the unit will reboot. The touchscreen will work correctly then
In the same screen you can also re-configure the touch buttons and physical buttons of yoir device.
It looks like someone potentially did an MCU upgrade/flash. If there was no backup of the settings then you lost it all. Which also means you might have lost bluetooth connectivity as the bt module type on first page of factory setting might be wrong too. Also canbus and other things might be affected. I recpmmend to check out the discussion threads on MTCD devices here. Someone with the same unit might tell you the right settings.
Hint: If you have trouble tapping the icons with non-calibrated screen. Try connecting a standard USB mouse to any of the USB ports.
The answer may be right in front of my nose, but I've searched and can't find it:
1) Why do I have to swipe to unlock phone before accepting or rejecting an incoming call? Is there a way to disable this? My Moto Z did not have this, or ANY other phone I have ever had. Very annoying extra step.
2) There are two active blue lines at top of screen, one long, one short. I get that they are additional battery status indicators, but what if I don't want them? How to disable?
I think those are apps you have installed which are causing the "problem", because no one else is facing this issue.

Well, that's a relief . . . now to figure out the culprit - I did a transfer of apps and data from my Moto Z, can't think of what else I might have added or enabled in the 2 days I've had the new phone!
Update:
The unlock swipe is an option in Tiny Call Confirm, now unticked.
The battery info lines are options in 3C Battery Monitor Widget. Shows battery percentage and temperature, but I found it more distracting than useful.
