Virgin LG phone with NoDo can be developer unlocked with airwa1kin7's procedure.
Note that I have not touched my phone with any hacks before the NoDo update. I applied airwa1kin7's procedure after NoDo and was able to developer unlock it.
Registry settings stick after syncing and all apps and side loading work. I have not touched Chevron or any other hacking before the NoDo. This is at least a solution for LG phones.
thanks to airwa1kin7s !
I haven't had any luck with the registry hacks unlocking my refurbed att Quantum, or don't think Ive unlocked it. Application deployment does tell me my app limit has been reached, even though i dont have any developer apps installed and i HAVE changed the app limit with MFG also. any ideas? I also never tried anything until post NoDo and once i found out my hacks didn't work, I also tried Chevron but it along with the i believe tom's xap installer tell me my phone isnt connected. The phone is seen in Zune though...
Connection Setup is back in the marketplace, under HTC Apps as before.
Current version is 1.12 (build 2119.18323). I saw it because I was prompted to update.
This version *DOES* process \Windows\CustClear.proxml still, assuming you don't have the latest HTC Updates (the Mango ones). Therefore, it's usable for interop-unlock on HTC phones if you can upgrade to Mango without getting the HTC updates (try U2M7720 or just send the CABs directly).
Thought you all would like to know!
I thought that interop-unlock is for Samsung, even though you even have connection setup you can't fully unlock your HTC device with interop-unlock in your device.
Interop-unlock just means having the MaxUnsignedApp value above 300 in the registry. This allows installing and running apps with ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES. It has nothing whatsoever to do with Samsung or any other phone.
Heathcliff74 has released instructions for interop-unlock on LG phones, and an app for Samsung phones. The app is called "Interop-unlock" because that's what it does, but there's other ways to do it. Several other people have given instructions for doing it on HTC phones. It requires three things, though:
A CustClear.provxml file in the Windows folder. This typically means you have to roll back to pre-Mango to put the file there.
A working Marketplace (not sideloaded) copy of Connection Setup, which can process the CustClear.provxml file.
A working HTCFileUtility.dll driver, which typically means upgrading to Mango *WITHOUT* getting the HTC update that comes bundled with it (on HTC phones). You can do this by upgrading using U2M7720, or by deploying the update cabs directly, or by using a custom ROM (though those typically come already interop-unlocked).
After that, the steps are simple: place the CustClear.provxml file that will provision the registry value as needed, upgrade to Mango (sans HTC update), and run Connection Setup. The problem for a lot of people recently was that HTC pulled the Connection Setup app from the marketplace for a few weeks. This post was to let everybody know that it was back, and that it could still be used for unlock.

So I had HTC Connection Setup v1.2 Build 2020.30266 on my unlocked phone by Ansar method (Mango) and the question is: should I update Connection Setup?????
Any unexpected problems will appear or not?
And how to cancel that suggested update????
Im on nodo and not seeing it. ugh. anyone else in the same situation?

Why would HTC put this app back (which doesn't work if you have the HTC update BTW; tried it)? I don't understand HTC re-releasing their app for their HTC devices where it doesn't work with their HTC updates
I have a CustClear file sitting there since I upgraded the OEM route weeks ago (put it in the windows directory in NoDo and did not run/install CS until at final and it did not work; app was removed from MP, now released again and still doesn't work).
It's working for it's original purpose.
Im on Orange Network in the UK and i cant see it yet
Hopefully its just taking its time to filter through as ive held off on build 7403 untill this becomes available again so i can finally upgrade to mango and be interop unlocked,
its been a long wait! lol
Wait. We do not know if it has the same exploits

I hear ya!
I'm starting to wonder if it will show up in the marketplace if youre not on mango.
I checked the marketplace and its still not there. Also the phone prompted me that an update is available (which it usually only did when I was connected to zune)
So any ideas anyone?
I cant use U2M7720 to upgrade I get a warning that the carrier is not in the database.
Just FYI, the app isn't working at all on an HTC Arrive (GoldC). Says it isn't supported by my device.
@atm153: That's unfortunately expected. It only works on GSM devices, and the Arrive is pure CDMA.
Folks on NoDo/7403: Not sure why it's not showing up. If it's targeted for Mango only, that would be... rude.
Folks asking if it works with the latest HTC updates (the Mango ones): Yes if you're asking "Will it set up my connection?" and No if you're asking "Will it unlock my phone?" This is the same as before.
Folks asking if it's safe to update: It appears to be just fine. However, if you're feeling paranoid, create a backup image (restore point). I had just created one for an unrelated purpose, and so was not afraid to test.
Hope that answers all of your questions...
I had HTC Connection setup on my cdma device about 4 months ago and unfortunately deleted it. It worked fine then, it was downloaded from the marketplace.
Really, Jay? That's interesting, it's been reported many times to not work on the Arrive. It works on Verizon's Trophy because that phone has both CDMA and GSM.
Give the new version a shot, I guess... but I wouldn't expect much.
I dont know if this will help anyone as i cant test it but here is a version that i had from a while back. Just thought someone may can use it?

New release of CS does not work on the Verizon Trophy Mango 7720.68 - the carrier is not in the database error comes up.
Huh... are you installing it from Marketplace or via sideloading? I expect that error if you sideload it.
Works on my HD7, but then I also have avoided the latest HTC updates so my phone still has a working HTCFileUtility driver (allows TouchXplorer to work). If I break that driver (manually, without updating) and try to use Connection Setup, I get the same error that you're reporting. It would be fantastically stupid of them to release a version that's incompatible with their own update, but I thought it was pretty dumb to pull it in the first place too (the app has a pretty important legit use...)
I got the phone in feb so im guessing i downloaded it off the market in march or april. I downloaded all the free htc apps to mess around with. What was really odd was when i set it to sprint it messed up everything. When i set it to verizon everything was back to normal. Had i known i wouldve never deleted it.
Microsoft has announced they will no longer document update releases by carriers, but this is still useful information, so now we must keep track ourselves to know which carriers are lagging behind.
Feel free to edit this spreadsheet when you have received an update notice on your carrier (no login required):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuPW6_Ouc0FidG53dGQ1al9JbGtQWnQ2TTR2Q1pGaGc
Cheers
Looks Great. Although I would suggest that they are completly sorted by Country, then Carrier and then device I guess this is fine for a first version.
Maybe someone can add these changes later with the help of this forum.
Anyway, today I received 8107 but only after using the cable/network disconnect trick on my PC. Should I still mark it as delivering update?
As long as you haven't changed your branding or your ROM to a different carrier, then you can add that your carrier is delivering the update.

Unbranded probably wont get the update as there is no one to request it for you! I think that is how it is. I've forced the update on my Titan and worked perfectly fine. Very simple steps. There is link etc in the Titan forum as well as here somewhere.

You disconnect your PC from the Internet (in my case via network cable) shortly after you start searching for updates via Zune. I actually disconnected about 5 seconds after searching started, but you can try out what works for you.
I had WiFi enabled and cellular data connection disabled (no 3G and no EDGE), although I only disabled cellular data due to my prepaid flat expiring.
can confirm that unbranded/open market phones not get the 8107 update
omnia 7 -> no update availible in germany, even with cable trick, no chance.
dell venue pro -> no update avaible in germany, even with cable trick, no chance
both no carrier brandings.
I am pissed a lot about microsofts way to schedule udpates to the people, nobody knows where and why any update will arive and there are everywhere anoyiing bugs in wp (keyboard) -> user experience is an F
What does it mean, open phones no update??? no update now, or no update never ever?? Anyway, we pay more for a open phone, to get more updates and even sooner, and at the end, we are the last.

I think open phones now get the updates much easily! We only need one carrier to release update and then using cab sender it updates right away! I did that with my unbranded Titan and it only took 8-9 minutes from point A to point B!
there is currectly no update delivery, maybe in the future but if you see microsoft community manager any carrier has to request the update ... but theres no carrier for open market phones, whats the obvious? Open market phones dont receive this update ever and get it maybe with the next (tango?) update.

Lets send a tweet to @joebelfiore

I think that is a dangerous method.. If you don't update all the language cabs..
You may not get next HTC update..
So open phones users, we are screwed or what? i got the 7740 update right away. but until now no theethering for example.
yes this is the actual situation, some unbranded phones may not become wlan tethering because it depends on carrier request and dont get the 8107 update (on the official way...with hacks you can have both but this is not the point why i choose windows phone)
sad to see microsoft destroys its own system and screw away their fans
I've got a Samsung Focus (originally a Rogers phone) unlocked and using on Bell Canada network.
I did the wifi disconnect trick and got the 7740 update...doesn't this mean Roger is delivering it?

for tethering you need OEM driver update it's not only OS depended
Iosu
Samsung had the driver ready even before Mango started rolling out. In the official rollout drivers update was already softap implemented and working . I got some ROM that had older OEM drivers date than the Mango rollout and it was there too.
On the other hand, HTC was playing bad and didn't include it. No idea how LG and Dell...

i know...but if i use hack i can use internet sharing...if i dont, i am not able to use it
even on german telekom the omnia 7 users got internet sharing
i have german telekom sim but unbranded omnia 7 and dont got it
i know that the dell venue pro is not capable for this feature but omnia 7 was before mango!
When i look at 2 friends, one with branded telekom and one unbranded, both got internet sharing and no one can tell why my friend with unbranded got the update and i am not.
its not the lack of the feature, because i dont care about wlan tethering but who pushs the updates? Microsoft and they hold it back, a total inconsistents in the update process...like with 7740 as os update or even more worse the 8107 update
-> tested the cab sender and all seems to be fine for me but restored my backup because i want it on the official way and not this. I paid not only for the device, for the os, too! The update experience is just bull**** with wp, android doin it better because i can choose nexus phone (never thought i say this) and get every update immediatelly and apple do it the best way since now.
Looks like my next phone will be no windows phone, regardless that i like the system but i dont get what was promised and what i get.
The big issue here is how to confirm all this data.
Maybe some of the information is wrong.
I guess I'll try to keep the Sasktel (Canada) section current. I'm guessing there aren't too many Sasktel people on here with windows phones but I could be surprised.
Also +1 on being annoyed with this whole carrier requested updates.
At least we'll be able to come here to see what's officially available.
