Hey guys anyone able to tell me why I have so slow 3G speeds ONLY on my nexus? I get good on my galaxy S 2 but not my nexus, I'm running liquid 3.5 and guessing its got something to do with the modem or something?
Please help me! Thankyou

When you had a stock ROM how was you reception?
Update RIL? Maybe?
It was good, but I'm away on holidays and I don't know how to get my stock ROM back. I'm in Australia.
And what's RIL ?

If you are rooted you may want to try updating the radios. They are in the development section.
I need answers too, my Nexus 3g is incredibly slow. I've swaped between phones on the same account between an Epic and the Nexus, and Nexus is always slower. I mean 60-110 kbps versus about 500-700 kbps between the 2 phones. It has to be something in the hardware thats killing the Nexus' ability. Any ideas?

Yes already updated radio, and already played around with a whole lot of prl's too. I also removed proxy and ports as suggested in other posts. I had access to Boost mobile earlier, and I did a side by side speed test with both phones using same PRL and still the Boost was faster. Boost was around 600 kbps and my Nexus was about 127 kbps
I'm all out of ideas. Currently running on Sprint, Xenon HD rom, Android v. 4.2.2 with GA02 radio. The PRL on both phones is 61009. Unfortunately I dont have any info on the Boost phone, it isnt a high end unit, I think its running some Android 2.3.x but. nevertheless its faster data speeds than the Nexus.

Just done a speed test on my nexus with the speedtest app and I got a speed of 1544kbps download and 440kbps upload ... is this speed OK over 3g? Or is this kinda slow. I'm not too sure what speed I should be getting.

Below are my 3g speeds. Depends where you are, signal, whether or not there is a lot of bandwidth available etc.
Yesterday I was getting speeds closer to yours in the exact same place I got the 7mbps.

Those aren't always right either. I've seen several people posting with Sprint and ATT carrier logos when they have Verizon service.
For cdma is good for GSM tho seems slow since I just to get between 3-8mbps on ATT

the only way to know if its a "good" speed is if you can compare to a different phone on the same network near you, or another phone, swapping your SIM into it to test.
What speeds do you all see on the Galaxy Nexus? I am considering getting this, and using it on T-Mobile. I replied to some other posts about this, but didn't really get firm responses. I have a HTC Amaze, and see speeds in the 18Mbps area, and 3 - 6 in a bad coverage area. The Amaze supports HSPA+ 42, and the Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ 21. Will I see 18Mbps on the Galaxy Nexus, or 7 - 8 like most people post. Of course, T-Mobile is the only U.S. carrier with HSPA+ 42.

You will see 7-8mbps real-world. Max out around ~12mbps.

Where are you located? I think you will be disappointed with the nexus speeds if you are getting those kinds of speeds on your Amaze. I have averaged between 1 and 3 Mbps down in minneapolis.

Yeah, it is. I haven't rooted/put a custom ROM onto my device, tho so maybe doing that might help the speeds. I have been kind of dissatisfied with T-mobile in that aspect. The funny thing is that they sent me a text message survey a few weeks ago asking me if i would recommend t-mobile to friends, to which I responded very unlikely. Yesterday I got a phone call from t-mobile trying to get more information out of me about why I was dissatisfied. I tried to answer as best I could, and in the end, they gave me a $25 credit. I still keep thinking of things that I wish I would have said to them. Like for example whenever I go to a place where there are tons of people like at a concert or something, I will have no chance of calling or texting. My phone says I have signal, but there is no signal.
Having really tough time with my SGIII. After rooting stock ROM and even after update to the latest JB leak from Sprint together with radio updates I am still getting really atrocious 3G speeds.
I am usually getting 50K both ways at best in Boston of all places. Any tips how I should troubleshoot?

Is your s3 set to cdma only or lte/cdma
I have not tested it on the s3 but I caught a bug on the evo lte where it was connecting to the new enhanced 3g (not actIve yet)
On the evo it would only connect properly if on cdma only.
You may need the app "network" to further mess with it

I just received an Android update for my sprint epic 4g touch S2 and when I checked what version it was it still said I was on v.4.0.4, which I have had for a while now? Was this just to fix some bugs or did mine not update correctly?
What is your build version? If you are running a custom rom or stock rooted i wouldnt update. Now if you are just stock s2 I would do the update.

I think it might have fixed my 4g speed problem b/ci was getting horrendous (less than 1gb) speeds. Now i just got 3.5gb DL.

Yes, but I just checked my speeds again and they are back down to 0.5-0.9 Mbps. I wonder if that could be because of traffic though....

4G? what is 4G?? Just kidding lol...... i dont get 4g in my city
I just purchased a Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4g Lte from Amazon mobile. In spite of being a newbie I successfully rooted the phone and installed AOSP JB 4.2.1 with the help of video tutorials from Qbking77. (many thanks to him) Since activating the phone I've been shocked at how poor the signal reception is. Side by side, it's 50% worse than my old Evo 4g Wimax. I've been doing some internet research on flashing new radio ROMs to improve signal strength but candidly, the information I've found is over my head. I need a step by step explanation of what to do, (Qbking 77 has a nice video tutorial) , which ROM would work best for JB 4.2.1 on a phone running on Sprint, and finally...would it really help? I even feel like it doesn't receive wireless signals very well either.
Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and Happy New Year!
I do not have a Sprint model but coming from a Verizon Nexus I know that a lot of it depends on the radio you choose. Now remember that Samsung has reliable radios, they are reliable in that you should be getting better signal then you actually are lolz..
But seriously Samsung Radios suck really badly, and you will never get the same signal you did on your HTC

That is my only gripe with the nexus so far. Poor radio signal. I think my galaxy s2 had better signals.
I would just be happy with improving the signal at this point. Amazing phone...such a disappointment to have a crappy piece of hardware in it.
If you have the latest software, you should already have the latest radio. No matter what radio you have, if Sprint has poor service in your area, you will also have poor service. Check with Sprint on any LTE or Network Vision updates in your area.

Sometimes though the latest radio doesn't work best for anyone. I know that's what was the case for my CDMA Nexus, I was using a ICS CDMA radio w/JB LTE radio for the best results in my area.

Hi there,
I'm on T-Mo, and the XXHL1 radio, matching RIL. Recently I noticed that my speeds were well under 1 Mbps. Any reason why? I checked my account, and I'm under 2GB so there shouldn't be throttling.
Thanks!
Matt
Speeds aren't always dependent on the radio you use. In your case I might just be that your market isn't quite as optimized as others

Your coverage area, towers around you. Not every tower is optimized for high transfer speeds.
Have I helped? Don't forget to make love to that "Thanks" button!
