I found the strangle problem with my new HTC Desire HD: GPS lost satellites in the case of camera in the video recording mode.
First concern arose when using the device as a DVR: VideoReg, DailyRoads Voyager, AutoGuard. In all cases I have gps data loss.
As an experiment I ran the program gpstest and the original camera software - GPS have problems with the satellites when camera is recording video
What could it be ???
Factory firmware with OTA upgrade.
The GPS is only active when an app which uses the GPS is active. So if you switch to an app today does not use GPS, the function is turned off.

I understand it of course
DVR's are using GPS and camera by self, in the tests I used gps application in the background (navitel navigator and GPS status).
Oh I see. I don't know what's wronng. Never used any of the apps you mentionned above.
I am the developer of DailyRoads Voyager. There is quite a large number of users who run Voyager concurrently with navigation apps, without having problems with the GPS fix. But, not on the Desire HD
I have made some extensive changes in the code which handles GPS. Would any of you like to test this new version?
Thanks,
Robert
i would test if you send it to me?
just found it in the market and downloading it.
The version on the Android Market most likely has the same issues described above. The new version for test can be downloaded from here:http://dailyroads.com/voyager/test/4/dailyroads.apk
Please test for at least 2 minutes, because listening for GPS will be restarted after 30 seconds, and then again after 1 minute.
This version also creates a log file (DailyRoadsLog.txt) in the root folder of the
SD card. When you're done with the tests, please send this file to [email protected]
Thanks,
Robert
Did anybody resolve the issue? I have the same problem with my Inspire 4G. When the camera is active the GPS wont't fix. Once the camera is off the fix occurs immediately
hi, same problem (still) here. no programm works when it combines camera/GPS.
just installed DailyRoads Voyager and will try 'n' see if I can do the tests and send the doc. maybe it'll help.
PS contacted HTC a while ago, simple reaction "your GPS is working as wel las your camera. you don't have a problem then...." welll, discussing here is more than limited, even when sying tt both together don't work...
Hi, found via Robert (daily road travel ) found via russian forums the following : add an external b/t gps receiver, download a small app from the market which links the receiver to the phone and done !
Ok, it's a workaround but a working one !
Cheers

Has anyone found a better resolution??
Hey
So i updated my non carrier locked HD7 that had not been hacked nor touched in anyway using the disconnecting the internet method. Everything went according to plan and i now have Mango.
Although seem to be missing a few features, i knew HTC was meant to include attentive Phone in there built but it is no where to be seen also there is no music search in bing. When updating it said the update was for HTC so i think its the right one.
I assume the music search is a region thing as i live in Australia but im not sure about attentive phone. I just hope i do not have the AT&T build rather then a carrier unlocked one.
OS version 7.10.7720.68
Firmware Revision Number 2250.21.40502.401
Any help or advice would be great, perhaps a restore is needed ?
Update
Big vision does not seem to work for QR codes bar codes or looking at books it just comes up with could not find.
In settings - regions and language, change search language to USA. This will enable full Bing Vision. Result will be for US though.

In Australia, only QR codes and MS Tags work, as there is no local store information yet (ie, the whole point of scanning books/movies/barcordes).

Yes. Not straight away though. The Attentive Phone app had to update itself, along with a few others once it realised I was on Mango.

Yes, it took 6 hours before i got an update notification for attentive phone (amongst others) I guess it has something to do with how often the phone checks back with marketplace to look for updates
No voice guidance in UK!
Seeing as this is a missing features thread, where the flip is the voice guidance within Bing Maps for the UK?
The damned thing still doesn't play m4p podcasts properly, even when subscribing to them in Zune. When the files have embedded objects like links etc., they open in the video player which doesn't work in background or under locked screen.
I removed Attentive Phone from my phone and i cant put it back on in the market place and it does not appear in settings like it was eluded it would be.
I had the same issues. It was available through the HTC Hub though and I was able to download and install it.

I have still the same issue. I updated my HD7 to mango and the reset it so I could use it with my Dutch Xbox live account. But know I am missing all the apps from HTC that should be in the settings. And the aren't in the Dutch Marketplace. What should I do?
I miss multitasking.

No, I mean something that works better than a fast switch, and better than THIS fast switch. We have repeated instances of system applications, like 3 messagings, one setting and one WiFi (the wifi settings).
Also, you cant resume the instance when opening a toast notification. Which sucks. They expect that when you receive a toast from, I dont know, WhatsApp, you instead of opening the notification, you hold back button and switch to the App. Brilliant.
If not this flaw, the OS would be perfect for me.

Alright, I thought it weren't working at all But you are right. Maybe in the next big update. It is still growing.
Smart lock's trusted places is a great feature to keep your phone locked while at home but it never works reliably. I had an S8 and was never able to get it working either. I've scoured the internet and tried every remedy I can find. I can get smart lock to keep my phone unlocked for a few hours sometimes but it always fails at some point and requires a fingerprint again even while at home. It works very reliably connected to my car as a trusted device.
Has anyone found a way to fix this problem and get smart lock to work for more than just a few hours? Is this a Samsung issue or an Android problem? I do see people with other devices complaining as well so I'm assuming it is an Android problem.

It's a known bug with Android. There are threads in the Google support forums.

That's what I thought but this issue has been going on for years. Why can't Google just let us use Wifi to keep the phone unlocked? It would be so simple.
After 4 hours of not interacting with the phone it will require you to use a biometric or pin/password. That's by design. Not sure if that's your issue or not. I use a BT connection as my smart unlock at home, and it works fine.

That's not the issue. It will lock immediately after turning off the screen, and often immediately after adding a new safe area coordinates from the same location....
Do you have location set to high accuracy?
I have it set to high accuracy and same issue. Even after using biometrics to unlock (for example when waking up in the morning) trusted places still doesn't work. Super annoying.
In my S7 edge it worked much better than in this s9. Really super annoying

I have a S7 edge too and on this device Smart Lock trusted places has suddenly become totally unreliable recently (since few weeks approximately).
I'd really like being able to use Wifi instead as @skiddingus suggested.
I got my mum a Note10Plus as an upgrade from her note4 she loves the phone but has found she can't print from it. Every time she tries to print through Google cloud print she gets an error saying the app crashed. Anyone know how to fix this?

That was strictly google cloud print.

I wonder why it crashes as soon as it launches for me then
Did you do a smart switch or some system restore ? I didnt. Just a clean install.
I don’t have any Epson apps installed ..just the cloud print that i downloaded.

I did a clean install on her device. I'm wondering if it could be related to her cannon printer? I'm going to remove her printer from cloud print and link it to my office MFD see if that makes any difference.
This time around i didnt install all the epson apps and extra nonsense because i dont really use this service. Also, for me, on my note 9 I can remember me seeing so many different epson options (scanning, fax, etc etc ) and since I have 3 google accounts tied to my pone i think i would see 3 different listing for each account... so this time around I JUST installed google cloud print. Then I saw this post and did a test and it worked .
Looking at the interface now on the phone, I see i have other options to save a pdf to my google drive accounts, to print to Microsoft print to pdf.
Also I see a “remote print” option to the epson IN ADDITION to the standard epson printer print option. Not sure what the differences are there, but again this is with epson—I know yours will be different
I've done a full wipe and re-set everything up today and Cloud Print is still broken.
Luckily I don't need to use it.
Well I can confirm its working so perhaps its a user account thing? Maybe a permissions thing? I give google permission to know my locations and blah blah blah, so maybe thats why i have such success with it?
I'm having the same issue. Installed the Google Cloud print app (fresh install) but as soon as I try to select a printers the app crashes. It keeps on opening and closing endlessly upon I force close it! I guess it's related to the Note 10+

I tried that it still didn't work. So as a work around she is using the Samsung print service (it finds the Google cloud print server I setup and allows her to print on home WiFi) not as flexable as cloud print but better than the canon app/ service
Note 10 here. Same issue: cloud print service crashes endlessly as soon as its enabled. Works fine with other devices.

I got a response from Samsung support basically saying it's not there issue.
I've contacted Google support - no answer so far. Google hasn't updated the app since may this year.
Well the app works for me. Ive 3 note 10+s and I tested this out on all 3. The ones i have are unlocked 512gbs from Samsung. Like I’d mentioned before, perhaps its probably something local. The fact you dont see a lot of people posting about it may also mean it could be isolated events. It may also have something to do with permissions or lack there of, that you give the apps when setting them up.
So far the 3D scanner app has been a failure for me. I can not scan a human head without getting error message? Has anyone been able to utilize this app to scan humans?
It is a known thing that the app specifically is unable to do it by dessign, it is just meant for objects, not people
I scanned a person... Works OK, not the best but did work...
You need to start from behind him (hairs). With the human face not moving at all.
If you start from front it will recognize a face and refuse to Scan.
I think it used to work way better with the 1st version of the app when you could choose human or objects. But it is gone, so you have to use this trick.
It worked for me, but the results with 3DScanner are really crap since they updated the app. We have to wait / hope for samsung to get their fingers outta their asses.
I tried to install the old version but when i launch it always says : you need to update the app to be able use it... i do not know how i could make this old version work unfortunately.
