Is there a twitter or something we can check to see when Orange will release an update or 2 to their branded phones?
I too am becomming frustrated by the lack of communication and support from orange, all other companies.... except Three, have released the update.
I called orange and they told me they have no idea when the update will be released, which to me says they don't care and it'll be there when they feel like it
Vodafone released 1.28 a few days after the main launch.
Its the same with Tmobile. You Tweet there help team and the answer is "We dont know anything until the update is rolled out". It would just be nice to know if they are testing on the update or if its not going to be done.

What carrier are you with? What country are you in? Is your phone unlocked/debranded? Have you rooted it?
You've provided zero information

czech republic on vodafone the phone is debranded and i havent root it.
and the update is 1.21.405.2
Yes! On Orange UK with unbranded desire stock firmware.
Update available, downloading now. No mention of what it is though.
A few invisible bug fixes and speed improvements...you'd probably not notice if you were really happy with your phone. Little cosmetic things like a counter on the SMS app, now icons on a couple of apps...etc.
Nothing major, but may fix a few niggles.
How do you know if you have this update? I have just checked and am being told that my phone is up to date. Last update I applied was a few weeks ago when I got the handset from Orange UK.

They roll it out, I was told mine was up to date four times and then it came up on the fifth so it's a bit random...it's fast when it does download to I'm guessing they're not pushing it out to EVERY single Desire at the same time.
If you really want it it's in ROM development or linked on my signature, but its the full 150MB-odd RUU file not the small OTA update
My phone is telling me there are no updates available, hopefully it will be soon!
Hi,
Does it make any difference as to what network i buy the desire on? (UK)
For example, i know it will be locked to that network, but is there branding or any other locks for different networks?
Thanks
Orange have the most branding. T-Mobile and Three have little branding, Vodafone have with the latest update that go pulled so none -- O2 none.
However you can de-brand any of the phones to get rid of all of the crap they put on there. I did with my Orange phone as they're the slowest to dish out updates and their software was awful.
excellent cheers i was planning on changing the OS anyway... my Diamond lasted 3 hours after i bought it, before i changed the ROM
Vodafone, until recently, left their Desires alone but a recent OTA update added splash screen/Vodafone 360 app to it (which people were extremely annoyed about!!)
T-Mobile has splash screens (I think)
Orange change loads, add their own apps and generally mess it up so avoid!!
O2 add things too, don't know about 3
Best thing, go to CPW and get it on upgrade and you should get a SIM-free, generic Desire - I did this and always do as I hate branded phones!!
Thanks. Its actually going to be my Dad getting it he's going to see what he can get on his O2 business account i'll be playing with different versions of Android on it anyway...
The main reason I'd say get it SIM-free is speed of updates - operators have other product codes so you'd have to wait on them to OK an update before getting it, regardless of added apps, etc...got mine SIM-free from CPW on upgrade so got the FroYo update as soon as I got back from the US
ok cool.
Its probably going to be running a modified version of Android anyway, so shouldnt need to worry about updates
I was running custom ROMs too but found that stock FroYo does all I want it to so I can live with the crap apps I don't ever use for now
Awesome phone, though

Please I'm using o2 branded HTC desire, do I need to debrand it before I get group 2.2 as I am presently in Lagos and not in the UK at the moment.
Just a question. Im using an HTC Trophy with a vodafone brand(splash shows up every reboot), but is now unlocked and am using it on a different carrier. When the update comes, and pretending that vodafone blocks the update (just pretending), will the update to this phone get blocked too since it is vodafone branded even if im on a different carrier and country?
I think this has been discussed before and from what I remember the updates come from Microsoft so it shouldn't matter.
ayt thanks for that. just asked coz i recently learned that the carriers can actually block the updates:
“We build an update for everyone, and certify them with carriers,” he said. “They’re on a regular cadence as they are on the PC. If a carrier wants to stop an update, they can. But they will get it out on the next release.”
“Updates are cumulative,” he added. “If a carrier doesn’t get their testing done in time, the next push date comes and it goes out then.
“Carriers could in fact block updates to sell you a phone. That can happen,”

I wonder about that too because I will be using my T-Mobile branded HTC HD7 with AT&T. I figure the update will be related to the carrier's software info existing within the phone.

Exactly what i was thinking. Sent a tweet to @winphonesupport about this, still waiting for a reply
finally got a reply from @WinPhoneSupport:
@SlighMD We currently don't have any information on that right now. ^EB
not even the windows phone support team knows this
Hey everyone, recently purchased an international HOX. Anyway, set it up last night (wifi only for now) and immediately searched for 1.28 upgrade to no avail. I tried several times again today, but every time i search for updates it states that my phone is up to date even though it clearly is running 1.26. I tried searching for an answer but it appears no one else is having this problem (I could be wrong!) Can anyone help me out here?
*Edit - Please note I bought the phone online from Hong Kong so its 1.26.708.2, I see that other people from Australia are having a similar issue.
Thanks
Jkdem
If you've not set too much up just get the RUU and flash that
or be patient.
So far the 1.28.708 hasn't been released,as far as i know the latest release was the 1.28.401.

Just be patient, I guess... HTC is sending these updates in batches. Mine previously has a 1.26.980.9 from Australia. I received my OTA update (1.28.980.10) three weeks after it was released for the Euro version of HOX. Also, if you are on a contract, you will receive your updates after your provider rolls them out.
Or you can try calling your closest HTC service desk and ask if they already had a whiff of an update coming in. Probably they will just ask for your IMEI but will tell you that there's no update available yet.

expected release 31 August 2014
Wohoo!
Just some feedback for others. I was getting a system crash/reboot every 1 or 2 days at least with both stock and cm11, for the past year on my 905. I tried lots to increase stability, and finally solved that disabling LTE, by selecting gsm / wcdma auto. I've had it like that for 3 weeks and can now get a week+ of uptime. Data speed difference is unoticable by me, and 3g is fast enough anyway. I'm sharing fyi. Cheers
Dont hold your breath!
YAY TELSTRA!
This is standard procedure for them - delay, delay, blame hardware maker, delay, delay, cancel.
Motorola Mobility
RAZR M
Kit Kat 4.4
Platform update
TBC
Scheduling
Motorola have further slipped the submission of this update to a date TBC
But Moto confirmed KitKat for the retail version (Australia -> Retail -> XT905), so at least this one will be upgraded. And I guess even before Telstra.
why is it taking so long for the retail version to be released? i mean a carrier branded verizon got it ages ago, yet a phone bought outright with no carrier branding doesnt even have the update
And the latest on the update from Telstra:
Motorola have further slipped the submission of this update to a date TBC
Welp, guess we'll be stuck on jbbl for now
With all the issues the CM based ROM's have had with KK bootloader, I will be sticking with my JBBL as it is my daily. But I do wonder when they release the source for this upgrade, if it will contain Bootloader changes that when integrated with CM code, will help fix some of the current KKBL issues.:fingers-crossed:
It's now scheduled for December 8.
and now the 15th.

Can't wait for this. Will be chucking it on the wife's RAZR M as soon as possible
Do Telstra realise it's the 15/12/14?
Don't forget it's Telstra.
For the HTC One M8 the latest table says "1-Dec-14" and it's still not released.
Btw. there is also no retail update yet and I'd be surprised if Telstra devices got an update before retail.
Any updates?
Sent from my RAZR M using XDA Free mobile app

It looks that way...
Can somebody share ANY OTA update .zip file for recovery (for xt905 sure) need it for recover bricked phone.
please.
*at least 4.0.4 - 4.1.2 update.
I have been checking most days and originally when it got rescheduled, I had an online chat with Motorola, so I thought I would try an get a littkle more info or find out whats holding things up. In my delving, moto blamed the sertvice providers and "confirmed" that they have the update :silly: I will be ringing my provider next to find out more.
Code:
Michelle: Hi, my name is Michelle. How may I help you?
Michelle: How are you X?
Michelle: Can you please provide your phone number and location?
X: Hi, I have an XT905 (retail) and have been following the KitKat update which was planned for dec last year, but now has been delayed/rescheduled with no dates. Is there any indication of a possible date for this update?
Michelle: I apologize for the inconvenience. Rest assured that here in Motorola we are always ready to help.
X: My phone number is 04XXXXXXXX and my location is Sydney
Michelle: Thank you for the information.
Michelle: Can you please provide the serial number or IMEI of your phone?
X: It would be a help if I had some idea of when it currently is planned for, even if it gets rescheduled again.
Michelle: Please give me a moment.
Michelle: This is just to give you an idea. I will send you the link regarding the update.
X: IMEI is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Michelle: https://motorola-global-en-aus.custhelp.com/app/software-upgrade-news/g_id/1980/
Michelle: Please choose your country.
Michelle: Thank you for the IMEI.
X: I have a link to check for an update already, but all it says is that it will be upgradeed to kitkat, no date indication. No clue if we are talking weeks, months or years.
Michelle: Yes, that is right.
Michelle: We really don't have exact date when it will be release because this will be coming from your service provider.
Michelle: This will be over the air.
Michelle: If you are not seeing any system update on your phone it means that the schedule is not yet implemented.
X: Hate to harp on it, but are we talking weeks, months or years? No date. and even if you release it, as retail, we can get to it. date?
X: roughly?
X: whats holding it up?
Michelle: We recommend you consult your service provider if they have the schedule already.
X: I haven't called them directly, but as retail I could be calling any of the providers. Has Motorola released the update to the service providers?
Michelle: Even if this is retail you the service provider you are using will still be the one to roll out the update.
X: have they received the update from Motorola?
Michelle: Yes, there is communication already but we cannot say the exact date since your service provider is the one who's going to roll out the update.
X: Thank-you. I now know we are waiting on the service providers. Thats it for now. Bye and have a good day!
When my provider says they are awaiting Moto, I will send them a log of the above where they get blamed. Hopefully it will help clarify who really is to blame on the delay. :fingers-crossed:
---------- Post added at 02:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:56 PM ----------
I spoke to vodafone, and the people I spoke to could not tell if they had received the rom from Moto. She checked the vodafone tech help web site and could not see any mention of it. When I asked if we could speak to someone in the testing department, she said that was not possible. a different approach is obviously needed.

Well, Telstra for example say they do have the update, but won't release it due to issues. In this case it's hard to get any additional info.

By additional info, I guess you mean "what are the issues?"
If they are the same issues that other countries have with the 907, they wont go away with just testing, moto will need to code some changes but its still withe providers.
xt905. Guys, if smb will get 4.4.2 OTA update, PLEASE, share update.zip file from provider on any filehosting. you can get file from cache of your phone after downloading, but before applying.
The update could be canceled. It's not in the list anymore. Don't know about retail version.
Edit: The Razr M is back, but still with the same status.
