Ok, so my phone is going wierd so i want to take a nandroid backup before i repair using pc companion.
Is it possible to go back to the stock recovery so that pc companion doesnt detect modified stuff?
I currently dont have CWM installed
R800i, .49 locked bootloader
Thanks
When you flash the stock ftf file, it flashes the stock kernel.

Is there no way to do it without getting into flashing?
No
A more complete answer is 1 - you have to install CWM to do the androids regardless of whatever else you do. 2 - falling the ftf returns you completely to stock. If you don't do that and you have removed anything from your configuration, PC Companion or SEUS will detect it and not update you. 3 - flashing with Flashtool is easy, fast and does not require an unlocked bootloader.

You can fastboot erase boot, then flash stock boot.img from fastboot. Its quick and won't affect rom.

Will a titanium backup keep the game unlocked for me?
Sorry for all the questions

That's only true if he has an unlocked bootloader.

Hi,
first of all, I am pretty new to smartphones and android.
I have my arc s, 2.3.4, .42 firmware, rooted, locked bl for two weeks now.
I am really interested in mods since i dont want to unlock bootloader for custom roms...
My problem is: In almost every thread i look people say you have to apply mods via recovery (?) and this is only possible with bl unlocked,
but i managed to apply the statusbar widget mod (sorry for no link) via root explorer..
is this possible with every mod?
thanks in advance and a happy new year!
This depends "modification"
Flashing via recovery is fastest and easiest way. Via root explore you must do all work manually.
Sometime this work, sometime not.

How to flash via recovery?
Xperia Arc (rooted)
you can instal CWM recovery on LOCKED BOOTLOADER with SE TWEAKER.
It will work just fine, but you cannot flash custom ROM since your BL will be still locked.

if it doesnt work, will it mess up my phone? and if it does, will i be able to fix it?
By reflashing it.
But install recovery with SE tweaker, do a backup and then you can always restore "system" when a mod messed the phone up and it just bootloops.
Or unlock the bl and flash a kernel with recovery, it's worth it

Reflash the firmware with FlashTool

What i mean is if there is a .tft or .ftf for the new beta of ICS cause i dont want to unlock my bootloader. The very reason i have a custom rom is i created multiple method just to have one. For example my Xperia Play as of this moment is running the T.E.A.M Rom w/ default ericson kernel. How did i do that? I used a kernel w/ Superuser and Clockwork then flashed again replacing just the kernel and i was able to use a Rom. Anyway i relly on flashtool to get more w/o unlocking my bootloader, but is there a flashtool process to get the ICS beta working?

No.
What no? What i asked if it is possible or if theres one.

u must have unlocked bootloader to use that ics beta..
I guess this means that the flashtool serves no purpose for the xplay beta, better wait for the official w/c doesnt require unlock bootloader.
Btw the other free method w/c uses a pin, i was able to successfully do that. But the dos for fastboot wont continue, that made methink that unlock bootload for me is unsuccess though the tool said mine is unlocked.

why not u unlock bootloader?? u can relock back using flashtool..
Sorry im not really that techy but ill read that relock, cause what i know is that relocking bootloader has its rules and limit, would it be possible to relock after flashing to ICS Beta. ICS w/ safe locked bootloader.

relock bootloder is so easy.. what u need is .ftf file and flash it using flashtool
you cant relock it when using custom rom.. it may brick your device
my suggestion is unlock your bootloader to flash ICS beta and when ICS officially release by sony.. u can relock it back but u must flash the stock rom first to receive that update
It thats really,if my play relock back,im can get the realease update, from sony With the pc companion? Because I just unlock my BL,

Hi.
I'm selling my Arc, and I need to change it back to its original state somehow. I need to install SE Gingerbread and delete CWM. How can I do so? It needs to be warranty-ready.
Thanks.
Just re flash using flashtools it will delete root and all traces of mods etc..... The only thing it will not do is relock the bootloader.

You can also relock the boot loader. Search for Xperia relock boot loader in the forum.
Sent from my Xperia Pro using XDA
though u use flashtool n also relock the bootloader,u wont get the drm rights back. (ie) apps like TrackID still wont work. But that wont be a major problem.
I rooted my play, got the CWM installer, did a backup, did a factory reset, then flashed JJ's Hybrid ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573547).
Then I rebooted, but it won't boot. It's just stuck at the "Sony Ericsson" splash screen. I've tried going into recovery, won't work. Also taken the battery out and tried again, but that didn't work either.
I read in another thread that you can't flash with less than 50% charge? Mine may have been at around 48% at the time...
Does anyone know where I went wrong, and more importantly how to get my phone working again?
Is your bootloader unlocked? Because the rom only works with unlocked bootloader

I did not unlock the bootloader...
Know how to fix this?
I think, you have to flash a stock ftf with flashtool

I think I'll be ok from here, but stick around if I need any more help!

Hmmm... I tried to flash it but it said I needed to install the drivers. I installed the drivers, but it still says "ERROR - Drivers need to be installed for connected device"
Any idea?
I think I have the same problem. My device is not recognized at all, how am I supposed to use flashtool?
Do you have pc companion and update service installed too? I had the same error with earlier flashtools and installing those two programs seemed to make it work nicely
Sent from my R800a using XDA App
You could try the Sony Ericsson update service tool: http://sony-ericsson-update-service.en.uptodown.com/
Sorry for the lame link, couldn't find an "official" one, but can confirm the above works. I flashed mine yesterday back to stock with it.

Man PAC is only for unlocked bootloader and it says that clearly on OP. Don't tell me its not that as I know as I did it before. Difference is I know how to fix before doing that. You need to flash stock ROM using seus. It will be fine

You can use flashtool and flash stock fw. Or if your bl unlocked, you can flash a kernel with flashtool and reflash your custom rom..

No mate your bootloader isn't unlocked as that's exactly what happens when you flash any aosp cm10 aokp etc ROMs the phone vibrates when you press power to turn on and screen is blank. Flash via seus to restore. If can get green led(flash mode) and try flsdhtool

Lol that proves to me that bootloader is locked as blue led is disabled on most carrier branded devices. Green led is flashmode. Flash tool mode choose flashmode to flash stock tft file. You need to get stock rom and put in firmware folder. Seriously though use seus update tool as it will reflash your phone

Hold power and volume up to turn off and phone will vibrate 3 times that means its off. Launch flash tool and choose flashmode then select stock ROM you wanna flash. Untick wipe data etc and connect phone when it tells you too
