Going back to STOCK? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I'm selling my Arc, and I need to change it back to its original state somehow. I need to install SE Gingerbread and delete CWM. How can I do so? It needs to be warranty-ready.
Thanks.

Just re flash using flashtools it will delete root and all traces of mods etc..... The only thing it will not do is relock the bootloader.

You can also relock the boot loader. Search for Xperia relock boot loader in the forum.

though u use flashtool n also relock the bootloader,u wont get the drm rights back. (ie) apps like TrackID still wont work. But that wont be a major problem.

[Q] About those fancy mods...

Hi,
first of all, I am pretty new to smartphones and android.
I have my arc s, 2.3.4, .42 firmware, rooted, locked bl for two weeks now.
I am really interested in mods since i dont want to unlock bootloader for custom roms...
My problem is: In almost every thread i look people say you have to apply mods via recovery (?) and this is only possible with bl unlocked,
but i managed to apply the statusbar widget mod (sorry for no link) via root explorer..
is this possible with every mod?
thanks in advance and a happy new year!
This depends "modification"
Flashing via recovery is fastest and easiest way. Via root explore you must do all work manually.
Sometime this work, sometime not.

How to flash via recovery?
Xperia Arc (rooted)
you can instal CWM recovery on LOCKED BOOTLOADER with SE TWEAKER.
It will work just fine, but you cannot flash custom ROM since your BL will be still locked.

if it doesnt work, will it mess up my phone? and if it does, will i be able to fix it?
By reflashing it.
But install recovery with SE tweaker, do a backup and then you can always restore "system" when a mod messed the phone up and it just bootloops.
Or unlock the bl and flash a kernel with recovery, it's worth it

and what happens if se tweaker messes up my phone?
Reflash the firmware with FlashTool

Deli-ma

I bought an xperia arc s two days ago..and I want to unlock bootloader/root/install CWM and costume roms..but some friends advised me not to do so and keep on stock status..because thsey claim that I may not be able to update the phone to the supposedly so near almost on the door ICS of android..is it true?and if I did the unlcok bootloader and rooted..won't I be able to revert back to stock and update to the ICS when it comes?what do u think guys..?thx in advance
If u unlock bootloader, u cant update through pc companion. However, u can always relock back the bootloader, allowing you to update using pc companion.
However, in my opinion, having an unlocked bootloader doesnt bring any downside (except losing drm) coz u can still flash ICS using flashtool or flash it as .zip coz the devs at our forum will surely modify it or something...
However,its all up to you

I think it doesnt matter which rom r u on to relock it as long as ur on stock rom. But I recommend using fw .42 to relock cause that was the firmware I usually use to relock.
Im right now using xperia s beta rom 5, doomkernel v19...

I think you can relock any baseband if you unlock the bootloader with the official se method. If you unlock it with a testpoint methode you cant relock it.

Flashtool to be used for Latest ICS beta?

What i mean is if there is a .tft or .ftf for the new beta of ICS cause i dont want to unlock my bootloader. The very reason i have a custom rom is i created multiple method just to have one. For example my Xperia Play as of this moment is running the T.E.A.M Rom w/ default ericson kernel. How did i do that? I used a kernel w/ Superuser and Clockwork then flashed again replacing just the kernel and i was able to use a Rom. Anyway i relly on flashtool to get more w/o unlocking my bootloader, but is there a flashtool process to get the ICS beta working?

u must have unlocked bootloader to use that ics beta..
I guess this means that the flashtool serves no purpose for the xplay beta, better wait for the official w/c doesnt require unlock bootloader.
Btw the other free method w/c uses a pin, i was able to successfully do that. But the dos for fastboot wont continue, that made methink that unlock bootload for me is unsuccess though the tool said mine is unlocked.

why not u unlock bootloader?? u can relock back using flashtool..
Sorry im not really that techy but ill read that relock, cause what i know is that relocking bootloader has its rules and limit, would it be possible to relock after flashing to ICS Beta. ICS w/ safe locked bootloader.

relock bootloder is so easy.. what u need is .ftf file and flash it using flashtool
you cant relock it when using custom rom.. it may brick your device
my suggestion is unlock your bootloader to flash ICS beta and when ICS officially release by sony.. u can relock it back but u must flash the stock rom first to receive that update
It thats really,if my play relock back,im can get the realease update, from sony With the pc companion? Because I just unlock my BL,

[Q]CWM for xperia ion locked bootloader

Hey guys can anyone tell me how to install cwm in my xperia ion.i recently rooted my jb with locked bootloader.
Sent from my LT28h using xda premium
Doomlord is working on that to make one for us. Right now there is no way for those who has Locked Bootloader to get CWM (including me). So we just can wait. If u want something to install, maybe u can just copy it straight away to system and change the permission.

In my case, when i installed CWM @ locked bootloader .55 FW, the CWM didn't work properly. So I suggest you to unlock bootloader & flash doomkernel which is pre loaded with CWM and TWRP.

Pushing the files to the system and changing the permissions is hectic than flashing through recovery. If any error happens it can result in unexpected accidents.
You can unlock the boot loader (u will lose bravia engine) and flash a custom kernel using flash tool.
In the development section you can find some cool kernels with build-in recovery.
If You don't want to unlock , then wait for someone to make a recovery for phones with locked boot loaders.
