OTA 1.28.707 bugs - HTC One X

Anyone is having this bug like me? I am having problem download updates and new apps from play store using 3g after the installation of the OTA update. WiFi works well thou.. Seems to have more bugs than before.. regretted updating it.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA

Maybe try a factory reset. Or at least clearing play store data.

I'm regretting the update. I would have stayed at 1.26.707 if I knew the battery would be worse and the best profiles on beats deleted.
Only thing I gained was an extra bar of network reception.

I tried clearing the cache of play store. Seems like a reset is inevitable.. I'll rather wait for another update to see if it fixed my problem. Anyone else having the same problem as me?

They really screwed the radio version in 1.28. It says I have 2 bars and it struggles to cconnect toe internet. Will wait for next update if it's not too long away to see if the phone improves. If nt sgs3 will be my next choice.
And another thing there's a bug when typing as you can see

That's why i rooted mine and made a backup before the update so i could go back if the update wasn't any good.
The only thing was that i had to redo the whole root process after i did the update to restore my backup.

I thought a NANDROID backup was just the ROM. It wont restore boot image or the radio unless I'm mistaken?
Also, the 1.28 update updates the HBOOT to version 94, which means you can't flash a 1.26 version RUU.

[Q] OTA vs. RUU question

Reading through the forum here I see that using the RUU that ws leaked earlier wipes out your installed apps, and makes you reinstall them. Also.. the RUU is 178MB.. here are my questions:
1) Would the OTA wipe out all my instaleld apps and force me to reinstall them like the RUU apparently does?
2) If I wait for the OTA, is it going to download to internal phone memory or to my SD card? Does it get erased after installation?
3) Since the RUU is a Windows executable file.. and is alledgedly the OTA.. can I just put this on my SD card and execute it somehow without the use of my PC? (Yeah, I'm expecting some flamage for that one.. even sounded stupid to myself as I was typing it.)
Yes, I'm as noob as a noob can be at this stage, so I apologize if this comes off as totally ignorant. I would love to get the best out of my phone, and the big lack of love from Big Red has me seriously considering root even though I am deeply afraid of brickage.
The ota and the leak are the same, I can 100% confirm that. I'd presume if the ruu wipes your info, so will the ota. Just like flashing a Rom or anything else that changes the OS. So be prepared for that.
The ota is not going to your SD, it'll just download into phone memory and install from there, similar to the .exe on a pc.

Yikes.
1) Cannot confirm until the update is actually pushed; if they decide to fix another bug and not release tomorrow, then I guess it wasn't 100% confirmed.
2) OTA will likely NOT erase your settings/programs; RUU definitely will.
so if im rooted, will the RUU un-root my phone?
...
If you can get the RUU to run and see your phone; it will unroot your phone. That is why unrEVOked released "forever"

1) the ota is on the servers, its def coming. It's the same ver as the leak, identical in every way.
2) during testing, the builds are pushed to test devices ota, some were at factory defaults after install. So be prepared, just in case. If not, more power to ya.

i already have forever
my question is, is my current baseband, "1.00.03.03,06" supported by unrevoked forever? would it even mater since the ruu will install a new baseband, and will that new baseband be supported by forever?

Yes it will. It updates the radio to an already supported version.
thats all i needed to know. ill start the leaked RUU update right now and report back.
SUCCESS! i still have root and everything seems fine after the leaked RUU
I flashed the leaked ruu over the 8/1 leak. Kept all my apps and homescreen preferences. Just don't wipe data or cache when you flash it

[Q] How do I update to Gingerbread? ROM Manager Causing Issues

I want to update my G2 to Gingerbread 2.3.3 but for some reason when my phone restarts for the update to take affect I see the little green android with the progress bar. It stops without reaching 100% and I get an installation error. Why wont it upgrade? Could ClockworkMod Recovery be the culprit?
I don't know for sure but I would think so. Manually push the stock recovery (find it on the forum somewhere) back via adb and try again maybe? Either that or just flash the entire pc10img and u definitely won't have a problem. You will lose all your data tho.

So if you have ClockworkMod Recovery, that means you're rooted.
What are you trying to update to 2.3.3 with? Are you taking the OTA? You can't do this (or really really shouldn't) when you're rooted.
If you're rooted, head to the dev section and pick up a pre-rooted 2.3.3 OTA release. You'll keep your root and be upgraded to 2.3.3 like you want.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1211143 I used this one. Its literally just the OTA, pre-rooted. No radio, just the ROM. Flash through ClockworkMod recovery. You should backup apps with something like Titanium Backup first, because its in your best interest to wipe all data through recovery before flashing.
Thanks guys. I honestly didnt know that I wasnt suppose to update/install official updates if my phone has been rooted. The pc10img ROM xsteven77x didnt work for me but the one martonikaj suggested did.
Once again. Thanks! Problem solved.

Yep no problem. Just know that when you're rooted, you can no longer take any official update. Gotta do it on your own manually with pre-rooted ROMs.
Feel free to click "thanks" for my post glad I could help you out.

I got this update at about 0000 UK time, im in Australia atm so was wide awake for it to update
just getting mine on t-mob005
I'm tmob005 and yet to receive update. I reverted back to stock yesterday and got the 4.0.4 update but nothing since, anyone got any ideas?
I downloaded the file just now. Tried to install it and it failed.
Basically, when I said install, it rebooted my phone but then straight into recovery (which I have a custom). Wonder if I need to revert back to stock before it'll work? Anyone else got this?

I flashed recovery, re-locked the bootloader and used the 1.29 RUU. The 4.0.4 ICS update came straight through OTA, downloaded and installed it but nothing else, I checked for updates but it says my phone is up to date. Any suggestions?
My kernal is not stock though?
I think I'll have to get stock recovery back on there. Job for tonight

You need stock recovery but you do not need to re-lock the bootloader for it all to happen.
If you have a stock ROM but still are using a custom recovery the initial 1.25MB will download and install - this updates the HBOOT to 1.39.
If you carry on and download the 350MB+ update, it will fail due to the custom recovery.
Once you have a stock ROM, with a stock recovery things will be good.
The end result will be 3.16.110.4 whereas most custom ROMs I see at the moment are based on 3.14...
And yes, the OTA People update will happen shortly after the successful update to JB, shortly followed by about 15 app updates via the Play Store
jb
:laugh::laugh:
since upgrading to JB I have lost USB mass storage mode
I think that this makes it impossible to transfer files to/from my Linux desktop
I have switched on settings/developer_options/usb_debugging
is this problem unique to the T-Mobile build or does it happen with all JB builds of One-X
Are you sure it's actually gone?
When I just plugged in my HOX the computer didn't say it had connected to a storage device but when I went to file explorer, it was sat there as another drive.

It happens with all builds
Protocol changed from Mass Storage Mode to MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) so in Windows it shows up as a device instead of a drive letter - absolute pain. No option to safely eject, slower transfers etc etc

Does anyone have the stock TMOB5 recovery or a link? Think My cid is 1.29.110.10

Ota update failed problem

Well here is the problem .
I was in the university when I noticed the latest update is available for n7100! so I started to download it with my 3g connection downloaded about 10 mb and I noticed that I dont have enough airtime credit left to download it so I canceled the download. When I got home I tried to download it with wifi connection and it says it's the latest update what do I do I want the update sooo bad
Can any one who installed the update give some info about the os version and new features ?
Is there a flashable file of the new rom?

There used to be the OTA files update only available on sammobile, however I don't know if they're available anymore or not.
Secondly, it's not possible to say what has been upgraded until we don't know on what version you were/are atm, and what will be the updated version.
And lastly, when you are doing things like this, you need to have an unlimited plan or something.

Take backup of important data and factory reset, it may solve issue. But you have to download update again and rarely I have experienced still fails to update. In such cases kies/odin only can solve.

I'm having the same issue. Phone declares it is modified when it reboots, so it is related to being rooted. Been investigating to no avail.
Have fiddles with triangle away settings and SuperSU's survival mode.
Finally got there. Unfroze all frozen apps with Titanium backup, uninstalled busybox, xposed framework etc - i.e. used option in app to remove from rom. Not sure which of these got it working.
Killed off my root, but CF autoroot again and all is good. New rom seems more responsive initially, will have to see about battery life etc in the long term.
Update: The wifi would not work after update. Flashed afresh using kies, and all sorted.

Trying OTA Update - Getting Dead Android Icon

Hey Guys,
I'm trying to apply the OTA update to move to KitKat but I've tried it twice now and both times before it even starts doing anything on the installation after turning off, I get a dead android icon with a red triangle and an exclamation point. I figured this issue was due to me removing some packages to uninstall bloat but I restored all the ones I backed up and I'm not sure if I'm missing something. I'm rooted using the saferoot on 98.30.1.XT907.Verizon.en.US. How can I get my phone to update? I'm aware that I'll lose root but it's not imperative for me. I really only use it to get rid of ads using AdAway. Thanks in advance!
Is there a way to get the apk's for all the system installed apps that come with the Droid RAZR M? I could go through and install the ones I'm missing that way. I thought I backed up any ones that I was removing so that this wouldn't happen when a new OTA came out but apparently not.
Your best bet will likely be to RSD back to stock and then take the OTA.

So I would just want to use RSDLite from here - http://www.4shared.com/zip/uOa2HVb9/RSDLite616.html
And then download the same version of Android I have now (98.30.1.XT907.Verizon.en.US) from here - http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=8 and install that?
You could flash the new firmware right away.

Would that do a factory reset in the process? I just want to know if I need to backup my pictures before hand. I haven't had a problem with doing OTA's and losing pictures but I guess if there's some in there I want to keep I should back them up anyways. I don't really use my phone for many pictures though.
Using the linked files it shouldn't delete user data (wipe), but some system settings will get reset.
Please see this thread.

I'm not sure on that. I was on the stock rom to begin with but I had removed some bloat (thought I had backups for everything but I guess not) and after restoring it all it wouldn't install. Tried it twice to no avail. Then just grabbed the KK update zip file and RSD'ed it over and it was done in about 5-10 min. Phone was running slow while Google Play went and downloaded updates for all my apps but it's running beautifully now.

Yes, as long it's the same or a newer system version you're flashing: You can restore your version, you can upgrade it to a newer one, but to downgrade the bootloader has to be unlocked.

Truth be told, I never tried to downgrade from KitKat, so maybe there's something different now, but I believe it works, just as a downgrade from JB to ICS.
