Memory Question - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I need some help :S. I'm not sure what I did wrong but for some reason my Desire doesn't have any space left. All it has left is like 15 MB. Now I'm wondering what i could have done wrong. The ROM currently running on my phone is : Insert Coin CM7 1.0.8 Stable

Obviously it's the MTD /data partition which is mounted as /data. 147 is expected to be total space.

Why did you flash cm7 version in stock hboot? Flash cm7 or cm7/r2 from alpharev and reflash the Rom... Of course s-off required

Thanks for the answers !

well I flashed CM7 because ppl said i should do . I'm a bit confused now :S what did I do wrong and what do I have to do and in what order ?
Thanks in advance !

You basically want to flash the right ROM type for the right HBOOT you have.
Insertcoin CM7r2 Version for CM7r2 Hboot
Insertcoin Stock Version for Stock Hboot (which is what you have)
Why is that? It's because of the different space allocation between hboots, the dev needs to implement a different set of "tricks" so to speak to install the rom.

I see. So i Have to wipe everything and redo it ?
Actually I was anyways about to get a new ROM ^^. So if i change my ROM to Runny ROM should I flash the CM7 r2 HBOOT and I'll be fine ?
Oh BTW:
When I boot my Desire into recovery I always get the msg :
"CID incorrect!
Update Fail!
Do you want to reboot device?
<VOL UP> Yes
<VOL DOWN> NO"
Is there anything to worry about ?

Post your hboot. Are you S-off or S-on?

Bravo pvt3 ship s-off

Which recovery do you currently use?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk

CWM-AlphaRev Recovery v2.5.1.8

Could it be that you have some update .zip on your sd card that it tries to install when you go to hboot?
Since you are s-off I would recommend that you change your recovery to 4EXT Recovery. Check my sig if you are interested.
About the Runny ROM, I'm not sure about the requirements. Check the thread. It will say if CM7r2 hboot is a requirement. I think it also supports Stock Hboot. A fast sd card with an EXT partition would be mandatory for the ROM afaik

Alright I'll try 4EXT Recovery & CM7 r2 & Runny ROM I'll let you know if it worked

Everything worked super fine, thanks for all of your help

anyone???........
flash clockworks latest recovery instead. can be found in a zip file to flash or can be found in the newest version of unrevoked. the recovery developer has a full list on his site which im sure you can find if you search for it and you can flash that.
once you flash that do a full wipe of the system from the recovery menu. and flash any zip. it should work.
Could be that those roms use a2sd+ and you will need a ext3 partition to use them. Have a search on here to find how to partition your sd card.
a2SD+ is optional.
for it to work you need an ext2/3/4 partition on your sd card depending on what rom you are using. i think a full wipe should do the trick. im just trying to get the user to update to the latest recovery image.
Edit: P.S. in wrong section of forum. dont mind helping but it should be posted in Q & A.
I got the same problem but mine is crazy reboots on non sense roms.
I think it's the kernel that's not stable on some handsets.

When you run the RUU, it will not overwrite the hboot so you will still be s-off. Then just flash recovery and the revolutionary root zip.
Although why would you do all that? Why not just flash an existing rooted 2.3 Rom?
It appears to me that you don't know what you want
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
Then Go with a custom ROM - Official is a piece of sh*t.
But if you want to go with the official, then flash the HBOOT Downgrader form alpharev.nl then flash official RUU, then use Revolutionary.io to get ROOT and S-OFF - but very soon you will flash a custom ROM
Why bother downgrade to RUU then s-off again when simply flashing the RUU will remain s-off? Pointless

Just like most of the questions here.

[Q] After cfw install internal storage only 20mb

Hello.
I installed a cfw with data++ and also a2sd. I did partition ext 3 on my sd card with cwm.
But I have a problem. After the istallation there are only 20 mb internal storage free. And it writes that there are only 176 mb internal storage.
Shouldn't that be more?
What make I a wrong.
My desire is rooted.
Please help me.
Thanks
What is a cfw?
Sent from dGB using Transparent XDA App
cfw= custom firmware.
I installed RCMix S V2.0 HBOOT CM7 DATA++ and also tried LeeDrOiD_HD_V3.3.3_GB-Port-R5-Data. And its always the same after install about 20 mb free internall storage
as you are rooted... did you get s-off? because you flashing cm7 and data++ version
yes. I have rooted and s-off. And the installed cfw runs, onlay the storage is to less.
what hboot you running?
sorry I've the handy not here, is from my daughter. But I remember something with alpha.
I will see tomorow.
it is from alpharev but important is what is after
ok. i will look. but what have this to do with the storage?
those are partition layout on the phone
you can move empty space from system to data etc...
stock you have 250mb system 40mb cache and 147mb data
cm7 130mb system 5mb cache and 302mb data
when is system not big or you use symlink system apps from sd-ext to system then you can use more space on data
thanks. and can i set this in the alpharev hboot?
You can set it up by flashing chosen hboot which is required for specific Rom... When you give me info I need i will take you through
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
thanks again. i will answer tomorow when i have the information.

For what art of cfw is this hboot? Alternatively wich rom can I install with that hboot that I have more storage free and a2sd or data++ funct?
On the microsd is a 4
Thanks
What is written just after Alpharev?
you can try droidzone rom or alex-v in development section... as you have a microsd card class 4 you need to check developer instructions... or you can have try with sebastian 15 Runnymede AIO running from cm7/r2 with amarullz script, which mounts sd ext to data partition...
To tell exactly what rom you can choose is the best is really hard job as everybody has a different taste and requirements... If you like AOSP roms (pure android) you can have look on dGB of ROOTSU...
Thanks. Is it easy to use runnymede rom?
After Alpharev is nothing written.
Here the screenshoot

that looks stock hboot for me... for that reason you had minimum space...
are you sure you did not flash any hboot?
Runny sense 3.5 is eye candy, it is easy...
Should I try to install this version of alpharev : Bravo CM7 r2 and than as rom runnymede.
Must the sd card be empty when i copy the PB99IMG.zip on it or doesn't it matter when there is a partition with ext and on the fat partition music and pictures on it, and the others zip files from runny and ad2sdx?
yes you can try Runnymede....
doesn't need to be empty...
but follow all instruction from sebastian...
btw better to install 4ext touch recovery from here
ok. so I have to install 4extrecovery with the old rom.
Than I copy PB99IMG.zip runnymederom and ad2sdx on my sd card
At first I start the hboot modus and the alpharev will automaticly change?
Than I start the recovermodus and do the instructions from sebastion. Than i install the ad2sd+ and reboot, and ready. Or? Have I a fault in my thinking?

ahh sorry. didn't realise I had to go through HTCDEV to update my bootloader. So my boot loader is now at 1.090099. I can't post this in simonsutiltiy thread(because I don't have 10 posts yet) but I'm getting stuck when it tries booting into recovery mode. The phone just goes to the red triangle and stops doing anything. I pulled that battery and it's still locked.
Do I even have to unlock it? Or can I just reflash the 2.13 rom?
Ok. New update and I could use some help. My bootloader is now unlocked and on 1.090099 on ROM 2.13. But I still can't update to ROM 2.14 or ref lash ROM 2.13. The RUU gives me the error 155. I went through USB fastboot but still the same error. Could anybody else help me?
You simply Unlock the Bootloader, and again reset HBoot using Supervision(I hope so), Then flash out the RUU file. But the only problm s it will be relocked again, then u need to proceed to unlock(if uy need to break rules) means>>>>>

or is any option to upgrade HBOOT to 0.93?
Use official 2.3 HTC RUU, it will upgrade hboot to 1.02.0001 and you can then use revolutionary.

Sigh, you didnt read any guide or instructions didnt you?
It even says on the alpharev webpage:
Requirements:
The only requirement right now is that the ROM you're running is rooted.
As techniques such as 'data2ext' have been popping up, these might disturb our finely-tuned flashing process.
Please revert to a rooted stock ROM if possible. Your /data partition is used for temporary storage of important files.
