Hi,
I'm a bit worried about bricking my phone by installing the wrong boot img, I've unlocked my phone through HTC and obviously now have no CID, sooo how can I check the details.

Use CID Getter (free on Play Store)
Sorry for necro-ing this thread but can i check the CID using a Terminal Program?
And if so, what is the command?
Thanks in advance
EDIT: nvm i got the command, it's "getprop ro.boot.cid"

Hi
I have accidentaly wiped system and sd card in CWM and cant mount via usb. I cannot find a stock HTC One X RUU and I had downloaded o2 RUU (would prefer carrier branded as want to return!!! although doesn't matter) but that was corrupted and downloaded off a chiness site that has stopped hosting it!
Please help me!
Doesnt matter if all you can find is a recovery that you can mount USB!! That would be great!!
Thank you very much guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you very much for all of your help! I have solved my issue.
I needed to download the stock o2 uk RUU and relock the bootloader and run the program in fast boot. I have just made my nandroid backup and planning to upload it so anyone else can use it! (it wont have my details on, just as if the os has been installed from scratch)
Steven
Please read before posting/flashing/wiping.
What is the CID of your device. You can only flash a stock RUU with matching CID.
So you need to download the correct RUU for your device.
All stock RUUs available are here
.
Keep thread on topic please
How do I find my CID?

If you would have spent 10 seconds looking in the Dev thread you would have found a list of all the available RUU's to download.
Download your required RUU, boot into Fastboot-USB and run.
Next time be more careful and fully understand what you are doing before doing it otherwise you will end up with a £600 paperweight.

That is why I started this thread!!! I don't know which is the correct one!!! I started on o2 uk rom and then flashed android revolution!!!
You've just answered your own question - look for the RUU with o2 UK in the name...

Flash the one that says o2 UK then?
Though I also wonder. How do you match CID to the firmware package? When I try to get my CID in fastboot or w/e, it says no CID like i've read around here. Any thoughts?

i unlocked the bootloader so if the op did the same their CID will be "none" and therefore the RUU wont flash.

Ahh, that is what I did. Does anyone know how to get around this or relock it. I understood that when you relock it, the CID doesnt change

You can't get around it nor you can change the CID unless we get S-OFF.

Okay, I guess i will have to wait until the clockwork recovery gets USB mount!
Sorry but if you just want to return to stock you can do
1. Restore you nandroid backup, flash stock recovery and then relock the bootloader.
OR
2. You can flash stock recovery, relock bootloader and then run the RUU that corresponds to your CID/region.
I am probably answering my own question my CID is H3G_001. There doesnt appear to a 3 mobile ruu at all. Any help here? Fortunately its not urgent but may be handy if/when they release the upgrade

how are you guys checking CID?
Using terminal emulator? do you need root?
I tried ADB shell command since the fastboot command doesn't work, and I get error:device not detected

CID getter from the market.
I dont know, sorry. I do know though that mine came originally with 02 uk rom and that CID will only work with the one rom that came originally with your phone. It may be different for unlocked devices.
Thank you very much for everyone's help
Steven
So i tried to find out my CID so I can try to flashh the RUU and when i use fastboot getvar cid it says none. I read this happens when you unlock you phone, but I have never done so. I am from Romania and I bought it from an online shop stating it was new. But when I got it it looked like it was branded T Mobile Germnay (the startup image is TMob and there are programs in german that i can't uninstall).
Is this a sign that I bought a phone that was already used by someone else unlocked and locked again with fastboot oem lock? And how can I find out the CID so I can be sure if i can flash the RUU or not?
To check CID, install CIDgetter from google play.

Thanks but I am having a little trouble finding it in that mountain of data that the app provides. Any ideea what string I should be looking for?
EDIT: Never mind, found it. It's T-MOB101. Guess I can't use the international RUU, right?
Correct, you need a T-Mobile branded RUU
Hi guys,
im pretty sure I have downloaded the correct file, im trying to go back to stock so I get the official software updates I'm on ThreeUK and CID is H3G__001 , I downloaded this RUU - RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_H3G_UK_1.28.771.9_Radio_1.1204.103.14H_release_256494_signed -
Im pretty sure its correct, id just like someone to confirm this so I dont mess the phone up.
Thanks
The easiest way to check is to reboot into your bootloader and then on your computer, type "fastboot getvar version-main"
If you don't know how to do this, you might need to read up a little.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843585
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832891
(you need the fastboot file on your computer to run this command. You can get it here.
After running that command, you can check whether you have the right version. You just need something with the same, or higher version number.
Excellent. Thanks mate

Hi,
Wanting to return my HTC One V to stock however I cannot find the correct RUU required. I've been looking through these. Any assistance would be appreciated. If it makes any difference, the phone is a grey import from Taiwan I believe.
Thanks
Download CID getter from Playstore and tell what your CID is then only someone be able to help you.
Should have mentioned my CID in the post, however it's actually in the title. CID is HTC_621. I managed to grab that with a fastboot command, "fastboot getvar cid" IIRC. Did some more searching around and found this thread. Currently downloading the 5th one and will advise on whether it has worked or not.
Cheers
My bad.. didn't see your title properly... good luck in finding your RUU

No worries, thanks anyway.
SUCCESS! The correct RUU was RUU_PRIMO_U_ICS_40A_hTC_Asia_TW_2.08.709.1_Radio_ 20.72.30.0833U_3831.17.00.18_M found in this thread. The guide I followed was also really handy.

As I clearly mentioned I am talking about the MID here. My MID is messed up and I want the ways to repair it. aDB method ain't working.
P.S- I am on super cid so cid is not an issue

What do you mean that it's not working? Did you get an error message? Do you have adb connectivity?
Did you change the MID in the first place (or was it done by someone else)? Changing the MID on the Verizon device is not a good idea. Nothing good can come from it. Folks usually change, in order to flash another version's firmware or RUU. But these are not compatible with the VZN version, and can lead to permanent damage.

As the OP already noted, what he is asking (how to change MID) has nothing to do with restoring a TWRP backup.
Also, the thread you linked doesn't apply to the Verizon version.
I know you are new to the forum. But please make sure you understand the question, and the proper answer, before trying to help.
In particular, giving someone the wrong advice on a Verizon device, can lead to permanent damage.
I changed my MID in order unlock the bootloader as I already gained s off earlier. As a matter of fact htc wont allow verizon m8's to unlock the bootloader so I changed the MID to that of sprint's to unlock BL. But now my modelID is somewhat like that I mentioned in the title.
Any suggestions?
Adb not working I mean that all process ran fine in command window but no results MID remains the same. No error in adb and fastboot.

So you actually changed to Sprint MID, and then went through HTCDev.com process to unlock the bootloader?
Yeah, I know bootloader unlock is not available through HTCDev.com for the Verizon M8. But I've never seen anyone do that way (change to Sprint MID) before. Do you see someone else do it this way, or advise you to?
It seems roundabout to do it that way. Since with s-off, all you need to do is change the bootloader flag with a few adb command (HTCDev.com not needed): https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708571

So you ran the command exactly as described in this thread? https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708581
You sure there was no typos (cut and paste to be sure)?
If so, maybe change back to Sprint, then run the command to make it VZN MID again? That is all I can think of. No other way to get to VZN MID, that I know of.
yeah my commands were exactly same and output too as shown on the thread. all process ran fine but when i check again no change in MID . IDk what's the problem here . is there any other method you know apart from adb method.
