I've looked for this for a few days and can't find the answer I'm looking for so I figured it'd be alright to ask this:
Is the AC charging issue being worked out or can it be fixed? The Kindle still does charge, but I guess i'd just have more peace of mind if the battery charging indicator worked. So far, Hash has done a great job though
I'm assuming you're talking about 3.0 kernel based roms? The only problem I've ever had with charging is the battery indicator sometimes doesn't work. It charges fine but your stats may not reflect the fact until after a reboot. But since the #8 version came out I haven't noticed any problems other than battery animation.

Mine charges too I just would love to see the battery indicator working, but it isn't that big of a deal. My kindle seems to charge really slow though from a wall AC, but it charges really fast on a car charger so I'm not sure what's up.

I read in the dev thread that since the kernel had issues managing the extra power from the wall, it charged slowly but still charged. I'm still on #7 and use AC overnight with no problems.

Thats more of my issue is the slow charging. Which ROM do you use? I use Gederom right now. Maybe i'll try what you're using.

I'm using Reloaded. BiteBlaze seems pretty committed to it, and I respect that.

How is your battery life with reloaded? My only big gripe with gederom is the battery goes down very fast, I'm not sure if thats this ROM's issue or ICS Roms in general.
I just flashed AOKP Milestone 5 and it seems to charge much faster and it holds on to battery better. I love Gederom and once it charges faster I will probably move back to it.
I was on reloaded rom for a week until aokp milestone5 came out. Very similar in terms of stability, and aokp seems a bit better for battery management (LED works when charging too).
They both seem to have the problem of needing to do a hard shutdown rather than through the OS. Other than that, aokp is serving me well for daily use.
I'm using EnergyROM 4-29-2012 and Kernel 3.0 #8 and the charging light works fine. In sleep mode, when plugged into AC, the power button blinks orange about once a minute, and blinks green when fully charged. Charging time is normal (90 minutes from 65% to full charge), and power usage is normal when on battery. The Kindle Fire will not charge from USB.

Now my issue... a few days ago I woke up with my phone on the charger but it completely dead. I had been running cm7 nightlies for about a month and always woke up with 80-85 % with it off of the charger. I thought maybe a nightly messed me up so thought it would be a good time to start flashing again, well it is not the rom. The thing I noticed was that when it is plugged into the htc wall charger (other chargers do not charge at all for me, no light or anything) it will say charging : AC but then switch to USB. I can not figure out why this is happening. It has now become impossible to use the phone when plugged in it drains faster then it can charge. I did find a wake lock issue but that now seems to be fixed. This morning I managed to get it to read 100% but it dropped to 71% within 10 minutes. I am now clueless so if anyone has any ideas let me know it would be appreciated. it battery monitor I also noticed that my "current" goes from red 20mah to green 260 mah but I am not a electrician and have no idea what these numbers mean
EDIT:
the phone says the battery is good and this was a sudden problem, like perfect battery performance with heavy use then just dead. I will need to go purchase a cradle. I am really hoping it is not the port. the thing that has me really confused is the switching from AC charge to USB charge without the phone even being moved.
Your battery is probably old and dying out due to age or sbc kernel? . Try a new battery or charge your current battery on an external cartridge. (Seperate wall charger)
I'm not too experienced with batteries but that is the process I will try out

I'm willing to bet that it's possibly your battery. Sounds to me like it just can't hold the charge correctly. The red and green numbers in BMW represent a drain or a charge. If you're at a red 20MAH (Milliamps/hour) then it's only draining at 20mah and that's nothing at all. Mine usually avgs a steady 51 throughout the day minus the times I'm checking something and I get my 8 hours just fine. I've used SBC kernels for a long time and mine doesn't do that kind of stuff or show any fatigue or damage from it. If you have a spare HTC Hero the batteries are the same. If not you COULD bring it to a sprint store and have them check it.

My wife and I had the same problem with our evo. We found out that it was the cheap aftermarket chargers that messed our phones up. I had to get a replacement. She is due for an upgrade so she will wait in the meantime she uses a battery cradle to charge hers. She is waiting for the I phone 5.

So my s2 has been charging really slow, like today it took like 5 hours to fully charge, and when connected to charger if I'm using it it wont charge very well, like the battery will stay at lets say 20% when im using it and charging it, it might even go down more. it used to charge pretty well even if I was on it. Cuz this be the charger, or is my battery messed up?? Im using the charger that came with the phone.

Are you charging through a usb port on your computer or ac? If it is with usb port then yes it will charge at a much slower rate. Also if you have a lot of apps running or backround data going it will also cause your charging to slow down some. I would say through usb without any apps open and backround data stopped It would take a few hours to charge say from 20%. Through AC in the same condition probly 1.5 hours. Try to reboot your phone and then plug it in to charge to see if that doesnt speed it up any. If it does then you know you have backround data moving at a fast rate and that would be your reason to slow the charge down.
Yeah I'm charging with the wall charger, not thru usb

You could try calibrating the battery, maybe. To do that, turn the phone off. Charge to full (make sure it's full, by taking it off of the charger and putting it back on...the indicator should read 100% almost immediately when reattached to power).
When the battery is full, with the phone still turned off, remove the battery for about 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, reinsert battery and restart phone.
Battery will be calibrated. This may not resolve the problem of a slow charge, but will clear 'battery memory' which may have been preventing it from charging completely (and, I suspect, may have inhibited charging).
Good luck!
I was using an aftermarket wall charger and had similar results. Switched to the USB/AC converter that came with the phone and all was well.

Actually, one doesn't need an app to calibrate the battery. If you follow the instructions above, the app is unnecessary. And the phone mustn't be rooted

Hey elflip88, have you found the issue yet?
I have the same problem on my HTC Amaze 4G. It's charging 1% every 3 minutes (adds up to 5 hours)
I'm also using the wall charger...oh damn, I'm starting to think I have a faulty device / battery...
yelp!
For the record Samsung devices are known to be slow at charging so with that considered.... You still shouldn't be at 5 hrs. I would find a battery stats app charge your battery over night and check the chart to see exactly how long it takes to go from 0 - 100. Make sure your batter status is good. Also check the voltage coming into your phone from your charger. There are plenty of battery stat apps in the market that will do this sort of thing. Of course make sure your battery doesn't have water damage of course too lol.

I've had the same problem with mine. But, I can get 1.5 days without charging and moderate usage. Charge it up, drain it, charge it back up then wipe your battery stats in recovery.
This may help if you're using an aftermarket wall charger
If you guys are having issues with slow charging using an aftermarket wall charger, it could be that the phone is charging in a USB state rather than an AC charging state. QuickCharge could alleviate your issues. The cable is inserted between the wall charger and the USB cable that goes to your phone. You can find the product on Amazon. It's the 2nd of 3rd item from the top when you search 'QuickCharge'.
I find that when I fully drain my battery and charge it, it's really slow. Once the phone has enough battery to stay on, I unplugged it and replugged it and it charges normal again.

It's your wifi and your apps using wifi. Turn wifi off while charging. I used to charge 4 hours + on my S2. Reduced to 2 and some change when I turn off wifi.
Also, I struggle to make it through a working day with wifi on. Turn wifi off and I can do 4 days no problem.

I got my KF Yesterday, the first thing I did was root it and install Trojan38's CM9 ROM. Everything is working great, but I notice that charging is painfully slow. I plugged it in last night around 2ish, it had 43% Battery remaining. Woke up around 10 (About 8 hours of charging) and checked the battery, it was only at 92%. I'm using the wall charger that came with the Kindle, not USB.
Is there something wrong with my Kindle, or is this old news?
I think it might be a known issue. Mine takes time to recharge too.
There are some roms like AOKP that enable fastcharge which charges the kindle faster than it usually does. I'm not sure if your rom will have it so maybe look around in the settings or something

Thanks! But doesn't fast charge just mean it charges faster on USB?
Also, is it a ROM issue or a KF issue? (As in, would this still happen on stock KF?)
I currently have the CM10.1-M3 build from 4/17/13 installed.
For a long while, I have been having major issues charging my Captivate Glide.
My original battery died. It was bloated. I called AT+T and they sent me a replacement. I also bought two high capacity batteries.
If I leave the phone charging about half the time little or no progress is made charging. Lat night I charged the phone for over 8 hours and the charge went from 10% to 14%.
Other times I will wake up after charging it all night and it will say fully charged, but then the instant it is unplugged from the charger, it will drop down from 100% to 20% or less.
Then once every 3 or 4 days it will actually fully charge. But even in that case the charging is slow at best.
I did a full wipe and re-flashed last night and nothing changed. I have tried charging in airplane mode, but that seems to make it worse. I have had a little tiny bit of success turning mobile data off, but otherwise I have tried everything I could think of with no luck.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues, or have any suggestions? Is this a case where I might need to replace the phone entirely?

I have tried a few different chargers. I mostly use a 2.1amp wall charger. I also have a 1 amp wall charger, and a 1 amp car charger. I have tried about 3 different car chargers.
I am really suspicious that the micro-usb port on the phone went bad and that I will need to get the phone replaced.
Charging with AC is gonna be alot faster then with DC. But as far as it being the rom I don't see tthat.. sounds like possibly a loose wire or bad connection when u lay ur phone down

Charging
Hello,
When I charge my Captivate Glide with phone powered up plugged in to the wall, using the supplied wall charger, I've noticed that the battery seems to drain quicker. This is with the original battery, I will be getting an extended battery for my phone. If I power the phone down then charge it in to the wall it charges quickly and seems to take longer draining. This does not happen when charging with the PC.

Bloated battery could just be bad - but it could also be due to overcharging. That's not going to happen unless there is a serious problem with your phone, or possibly a problem with the contacts leading to an incorrect voltage reading. This also may explain your problems charging and sudden jumps in charge %.
Clean your contacts well on the battery side and phone side with a pencil eraser, rubbing alcohol, etc.
I notice a big difference with whatever kernel is shipping with the current M3 cm10.1 build between a 500ma charger and 2amp charger, so I imagine the kernel is set for a 750ma or 1amp charge.
Hi,
how described at the link support.google.com/nexus/answer/3257354?hl=en&ref_topic=3415471 the nexus 7 should not charge when is turned on and plugged to a computer but mine does.
I think it is strange it charges when I plug to usb computer but I need to plug because I use it to test apps during development.
Is it the normal behavior to charge also when turned on?
Initally I posted (wrongly) on first gen nexus 7 forum, so apologize me if you saw this post in the other forum

The page is technically correct, if a bit misleading. It will show the charging icon and draw power with it plugged into a USB port, but it's still going to run down the battery faster than it can recharge if the screen is on, IIRC.
That the N7 charges with the screen on is normal. But it's limited to 2.5W power draw from the USB port. Depending on CPU load / display brightness, you will easily exceed that.
They probably thought it would be less confusing for users to state it doesn't charge, when in fact it really depends on the power consumption.
I must leqve the display on because I test my applications on it, so now I don't understand if I can damage the nexus using it as a dev terminal

You won't. The charger will stop charging when the battery is full. Of course, the battery will degrade faster, if it's constantly kept at full charge.
But there is this (Battery life extender):

It's included in the ElementalX kernel:

After a test dev session, generally runs for 15 minutes, I unplug the device and I use it normally until battery is low or under 1% so I hope this "good citizen" behavior can help battery life.
