[Q] Data wipe - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Just odined to factory stock. In the recovery when it says wipe factory data reset dose this mean like user photos and stuff? Or something else?

It'll reset your Android user data, which is stuff like apps, contacts, high scores, etc. Your photos are usually stored on the sdcard, which isn't reset.

[Q] Cache & Data

So, my GVoice app stopped working about a week ago. It would just crash on load. I went to clear the cache for it, and it was at 1.17GB. It wouldn't clear, I couldn't delete it with temproot. I renamed the folder, and that fixed it. The data is still there though.
The next day I went into my app management, and my browser, facebook, and a couple other apps have around 500-800MB. Again, I hit clear data/clear cache, it doesn't give me an error, but it also doesn't clear it.
Any idea whats going on? This happening to anyone else? I have run the cache cleaner from recovery as well. I just updated tot he new OTA, problem is still there. Everything seems to run fine though.
Sounds like something you did in one of your applications or in the settings is "Protecting" the cache. My best suggestion when all else fails is backup using titanium backup and then do a restore to factory settings and data in both bootloader and in recovery. Backup the sd card and wipe it as well, then just put personal data back to your sd card and restore with titanium, and all problems should be resolved

[Q] Restore Factory Sounds?

Back story: Every time I turn on / reboot the phone, the media process would crash. It didn't look like it affected anything but annoying non the less. In an attempt to fix it (which I did, so far) I cleared the data from "Media Storage." This deleted all my pictures, which is fine - they're all automatically backed up with Dropbox.
Now, all of the factory sounds are gone.
Is there a way to restore them or copy they back into the correct folder on the phone? I'd like to avoid wiping the phone, if possible. If I have to do a factory reset, it's not the end of the world, but just a PITA.
Thanks in advance!

Factory Reset isn't Factory?

I tried doing a Factory Data Reset in the settings menu and CWM factory reset and wipe. The phone still has all app data and folders for stuff. What gives??
A CWM wipe protects the internal "SDcard" so that people don't delete their music and pictures when switching ROMs. You have to wipe that too to get rid of everything.

[Q] Backing up APPs Data inc PW etc

I would like to backup my apps but more to point my data, ie contacts in 4 diff email accounts, Passwords to sites, dropbox, box etc so I dont have to go through installing all again etc.. want to do this to make sure when I move from rooted phone to JB5. In the tutorial it says wipe out data and factory reset. I can back it up on my laptop n then restore.

Click to collapse
There are two kinds of factory resets, one is done in recovery mode
and is simply called "factory reset". This type of reset does not delete
all the personal data on your internal sdcard.
If you want to a full factory reset you need to go into the settings of
the phone and then navigate to "backup and reset".
There you will see an option to "Factory Data Reset", if you select that
option it will fully wipe your phone's internal sdcard including all personal
information, data, videos, downloaded apps and pictures (everything)
Good luck!
Its works. thank you so much
