I know there are a lot of threads out there for speed tests, however most of which are aimed at the CDMA version of the phone on the verizon wireless network.
If you are on the AT&T network, post the results of your SpeedTest.Net results.
Get the SpeedTest.Net app here
That's a good usable speed, but for HSPA+ I don't think it's that good. I've never used HSPA+ but from what I've seen others get I'm just throwing that out there.
This is what I generally average in NJ on AT&T. Acceptable.
HSPA+ its not bad but the att lte rocks (if available in your area)
Would put a picture but I am not allowed to post pics on this forum for some reason.
Below is the picture. I could not edit my post and add it so I had to repost a new thread.
For mobile speeds on a faux 4G its not bad. Good upload speed. I am raving on the lte network about their speed tests. Its blazing fast.
You think att will offer a Nexus lte device like Verizon?
Anyways just wanted to post the lte speed test for my skyrocket.
I know its not the nexus but wanted to show their lte speeds incase an lte version of the Nexus was released in March like the rumor has it planned.

My speeds have been pitiful, i'm on AT&T in phoenix using Milestone 3 rom. I have not seen my speeds go above 2 mb. Anybody have any ideas?

This is also about average for just outside of Manassas, VA (@ work). At home (up in the eastern panhandle of WV) I average about 4.5 or so. In DC I've gotten both really good speeds (8-9 MBPS) and pretty slow speeds (~ 1 MBPS), so it is definitely dependent upon the tower you are connected to and throughput/backhaul it has installed...
I'm getting between 6-7.2 mbps down in Austin TX, with LTE provisioned in my at&t account and using the PTA APN.

So i think I fixed my issue. I changed my APN and now i'm getting 4mb+ speeds.

Good, I hadn't gotten around to posting that for you. Some people have had good luck with the PTA APN (the one for LTE) but I have not. You can always try it and see if it helps even more...

Yeah I searched and i found the thread where they posted the APNs. I'm currently using the phone APN and may switch to the PTA to see if it makes life any better.

Ive searched many threads but cant find an answer. I carrier unlocked my T Mobile Note 2 and use it with AT&T. I see many people have done this but those people get at least 3G speeds. Im getting Edge only speeds. I added the APN wap.cingular and tried the PTA one. PTA doesnt work and wap.cingular is how I get edge speeds. What can I do?

You'll need to install an ATT compatible radio to get 3g. I don't even know if one exists, but I'd try googling something like "use T-Mobile note 2 on AT&T" or something like that.

That is not accurate.
I have a T889 that is unlocked. When I put my AT&T SIM card into it, I get 3G speeds comparable to my regular AT&T devices.
I didn't do any kind of modem flashing or other tweaks. I might have had to enter the proper APN settings, it's been sb while so I don't recall for sure, but I know for a fact that nothing else was needed.

The ROM I'm using (based off an international Note 2) seems to have AT&T APN settings built into it, but they seem similar to one's I've input manually when on the stock ROM.
I just shoved my AT&T SIM into the phone and confirmed HSPA+ service being received, although it's a pitiful 3 Mb/s around here. That's the same I got on my One X with the same SIM just before putting it in the Note 2 to get you these settings.
Here's some screenshots for you to coy the APN settings from.

if you use dialer code *#*#4636#*#* .. can you access the pop-up menu? You can enable LTE/UMTS in this section...
Same Problem
I just went to AT&T to get a new micro sim, called cust service to change my imei ( though not the actual international one ) to make sure I'm on the right plan, but after testing the phone and PTA APNs I'm still only getting Edge speeds ..if anyone can help that would be great!
Been getting slow speed on note 2. Usually on s2 I get up to 12megs down,. On note the best I've been able top get is 4. Speeds dogs increase when switching to newest modem. Anyone else? ?

Yeah I'm cool not having lte until it's released but how does my sgs2 get better speeds on t mobile?

Honestly I'm thinking some of the issues are the build.prop
Ive been adding a few things ril related
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=28
ro.ril.hsupa.category=9
ro.ril.hsxpa=5
ro.ril.gprsclass=12
And getting somewhat better performance though I'm not certain they are helping I don't have the energy to check if something else is setting them
Just add a new APN with epc.tmobile.com, the new APN (fast.t-mobile.com)on the 4.1.2 is the one making you get the slow speed.

the new APN is for the LTE network supposedly. Not sure if it will be only for LTE or if you'll be able to epc for LTE as well.
I'm in one of the LTE markets and keep flipping between stock and carbon rom. Tried cyanogen and have had the best luck.
I bought my note 2 at full retail for use on prepaid 70$ plan to see if I want to switch off my VZW unlimited data with 30$ hotspot.
I'm anxiously awaiting LTE turn up!

They cover how to make the APNs editable in these forums you'll have to search. I don't have the energy to look at the moment.
Edit:
Ended up finding a decent example of editing stock with new APN.

I thing they are testing LTE under fast.t-mobile.com but if you live in a tmobile LTE area is no need to change to epc but if you see slow speed have the epc apn available to switch for faster HSPA+.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Yeah I think they are using it to test also but that's a guess. I constantly switch between 3g and 4g icons all day. ... Like every ten seconds when in most areas. I'll leave apn until tomorrow and then switch to epc if I don't see lte. I live in Miami fl and have been checking downtown in hopes of getting lte

ok is there a rom that work right out the box for some sort of data with my prepaid at&t sim card i can make calls get mms, but cant get data i really need some sort of data working today i am rooted, unlocked and have no idea if i should be useing some sort of at&t kernal, or just changeing the apn, which has not worked yet?
can some one please direct me to the right thread or something
So you have a Tmobile T999 with an ATT prepaid sim?
I don't remember for sure so hopefully someone else can confirm, but I don't think the T999 can get better than 3g on ATTs network.
But if you're using the ATT sim, you'll be on their network so you may need to either unlock the phone and/or put in the correct ATT apn.

It will use HSPA on At&t no problem. Sounds like an APN issue. Your best bet is to go to the At&t forum and flash an At&t rom. Just make sure not to flash an At&t radio. Data should work out of the box on an At&t build.

I think it will use HSPA+ but only difference is that att hspa+ is not 42mg like on tmobile. I was getting around 7mg with my friends att sim on my t999.

This is correct. at&t uses the older HSDPA 7/14 and HSPA 21 depending on where you are located. They opted to go to LTE instead of a dual carrier configuration for their HSPA+
What service do you have with the prepaid att service? Did you have to get a new sim card? I looked everywhere on here, but didn't see anything
Or maybe its not interesting at all. I deleted fast.T-Mobile.com and switched over to epic.T-Mobile.com.
Wouldn't pick up anything. Had to switch back and just turn off the lte radio.
Not sure if it means anything when they stop using an APN?

It's cause you had a typo in the proxy. It's epc.tmobile.com (no "i" and no dash after "T")
FWIW, it's still up and running.
I didn't type it in. It was already entered.
Only fast.tmobile.com works here
Just Spelt it wrong trying to explain it

I actually get better speeds using the epc one. There is no lte in my area so maybe that's why.

I experience the same here with LTE being available. I just get faster speeds and better signal with HSPA+ so I use the epc one also.
