Hi everyone,
When I restart my phone it skips the SIM unlock screen and I can't call or use 3G.
I can't find a manual SIM unlock option either. Does anyone have the same problem? Is there a solution? It only works again after a number of restarts, which is very annoying... Any ideas?
Thanks
Chris

Strange. Maybe a sim issue.
Have you tried enabling/disabling airplane mode when it happens.
Sounds like for some reason it isn't detecting sim card as it should though.

Hi lawrence,
Thanks for your replay. I already tried the airplane trick, but without success.
When I pulled my SIMcard off, the software did recognize that though. Once put back in, there was no response...

Did u cut the SIM to convert it into a microSIM?. If affirmative, maybe u broke the chip.

Hi All,
I have bought an unlocked HTC about 3 years ago, and basically, this works with any SIM. I have used it all over Europe, with no problems. However I am having trouble using it here in the UK.
Any ideas as to why this is happening?
How about some more information, eg what sim, what troubles, etc.

The SIM is Vodafone, and I cannot connect to the network, ie no calls or sms. I tried the SIM in another phone and it works. So it is the HTC that is giving problems. And I am sure that the HTC is unlocked, since I have tried other SIM cards when in Europe and all of them worked.
I have another SIM from Vodafone from another country in Europe, and it does not work either inside the HTC.
Possible cure?
If you don't have a SIM PIN, try setting one. If you already have one, skip that step. Then, try changing your screen security, for example from Slider to a PIN and then back to Slider.
I put a known good SIM in my phone in the UK and had no wireless connectivity until I forced the phone to ask me for my SIM pin while it was running (i.e., not on boot - rebooting didn't help). For some reason, changing the screen security triggered a request to enter the SIM pin, and then suddenly wireless was back.
I can't repeat the cause of the lost connectivity, but I have repeated this cure on subesquent occasions when I've lost wireless.
Take your HTC to Vodafone. There might be some settings missing.

I tried doing what you said but it never asked me for a SIM PIN. I tried to change the SIM PIN but there is already one and I do not remember it

Hope you've got your PUK code handy. You're going to need it next time you have to turn your phone on!

Actually I did not need it!
And an update, I took the phone to the store and they fixed the problem. They guy at the counter entered something on the phone and it started working. Guess I had some missing setting.

Good news. But you're still gonna need that PUK code one day if there's a SIM pin and you don't know it!

Hi,
Is it possible that the No service is caused by incorrect S/N written in phone memory?
My DHD was down, it was only bootloader menu and nothing else, no recovery. no answers when i was trying to flash radio/recovery,hboot.
But the service (not official htc) repaired it, phone is running into android, but there is No service. The SIM card is detected, because i can enter pin, but after it phone don't find any networks. Anyone has suggestion what can be reason? any solution for my problem?
Before I let phone to service, i was trying many things with AAHK.
One more thing - the man from service told me, that the only thing that is incorrect in memory of my DHD is S/N - different on stick and different in memory.
Possible you may have a bad sim card and its not the phone at all. Sim cards do go bad and you lose your service. Start with the small posible problems then work your way up the solution latter don't just start messing with phone settings and end up turning a headache into a migraine.

SIM card is not the reason. Reason has to be in phone.
Hardver problem...antena?two litle conectors on the cover of sim card and sd...im guessing..but its hardwere problem

I have an unrooted, purely stock GT-N5100.
I haven't put in the microSIM in its slot ever. I use it in airplane mode , only with Wi-Fi. But I have a problem where sometimes, it randomly detects that I have put in a SIM card( and it leaves me no option but to restart it). Then sometimes after detecting that, it detects that I have removed the SIM card and I again need to restart it. This gets really annoying and this time, it oscillated between the two cases as can be seen in the video below.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr2UlC2VpgY
Now I don't have a SIM in the microSIM size, so I am Unable to really check by putting in a SIM card, there is nothing in the SIM slot, I checked by opening the flap.
Should I rush to the Samsung Service center to get it fixed? Any other Suggestions to fix it?

It got fixed automatically for me. Try putting in a SIM though
Hi guys, last week, my HOX out of warranty, suddendly decided to stop reading any sim card. I've tried different methods that I've found on XDA but none of them worked (disassembly, reset, other roms, other sim). Actually it worked in 2g for a couple of hours and then it stopped every sim related connection. Now I sadly use my HOX as an ipod touch and a nokia c5 which hasn't got wifi as normal phone. It would be very useful for me if I could use whatsapp on both devices at the same time with only my phone number (c5 with sim card and HOX under WIFI). I've googled the problem and the only solution I've found wants mac adress of the phone with whatsapp and sim but my c5 hasn't got it as it has no wlan card. Any ideas about my problem? Solving the sim problem would be accepted too .
To use whatsapp you need sim in your HOX Go to some private service..^^

Update: now, if I put a sim in, everything works for about 2 minutes and then no signal again. I've reflashed radio with ril but no luck.
Need for an advice
