I have the zip acutally

What the hell does it do anyway?
Does what...beats? It improves sound quality. Why do you think htc implements that in their phones?
Sigh. Please, we're all here to help or learn...

I'm not deriding anyone, I just want to understand what it's all about. Improves sound quality? How? I'm a technical guy, I want to know the gritty details.
Yeah, how? I can verify that it DOES work. Still, why doesn't samsung do that?

I think htc has a pact with beats. Idk.
@roothorick: good point...although there is significant difference between apple earphones and beats...I jjst don't know how

Oh, I know there's a HUGE difference in headphones when it comes to sound quality, although I have to question whether Beats headphones can really compete with the entry-level audiophile gear from more trusted companies (e.g. Sennheiser HD2xx, Grado SR60/SR80), especially at their price point. But that's a topic for another thread.
I'm always weary of any software that claims to improve audio quality. It's quite rare for automated DSP to offer a real improvement over the original signal. But I want to give it the benefit of the doubt and take a closer look at pricsely what it does first-hand.

I am getting a gs2 tomorrow for T-Mobile and was curious what are somethings about this phone to look forward to? They are sending me a replacement for my one s cause of too many problems that I have been having for the device and too many replacements sent out so that is the alternative that they are sending me. I know processor wise and camera wise it doesn't add up to the one s but what are some things that I can look forward to do with it and what are somethings that you guys would recommend doing out of the box?

Right out of the box? I would say that rooting would be the best start While android is android, there are some vast differences, the TWUI is one of them. Most people don't like the TWUI (including myself), but I have found that there are quite a few that enjoy the tw ease of access and the fact that it was made to mimic the iOS interface. Speed and dependability are the biggest things with the Galaxy series. I like htc, but there are too many bugs in the system. The difference in the screen is very noticeable as well. I can rattle off features, but in reality it wouldn't matter if you don't use them. Play with it, have fun with it, and enjoy the ROMs that these amazing devs come up with on here Enjoy
im surprised you didn't argue for an s3
Went from the G2 to the GSII and was really happy with the switch. Previously I've had all HTC phones and was semi-reluctant to switch, but I'm a fan of other Samsung products so I went ahead. I think you'll be happy with it, as far as productivity its great, but definitely root it and maximize its full potential and get rid of all the bloatware.

Well I didn't care to get the s3 because I just needed a phone that would provide me with letting me receive phone calls I am a huge HTC fan but since their best phone the sensation they have went to quantity not quality and I had nothing but problems with the amaze and one s. I raised hell cause my job relies on my phone and I told them if I wanted a banging ass camera an a good mp3 player I would have bought a iPod an I have bought every new device they have released in the past two years. An I told them I wasn't paying for another device so they opted me with the gs2 an I took it. Is it easier to root the sg2?

Yeah I will be honest I'm not a fan of tw just looks blah an blank but I know how to use a launchers so that can be fixed. One thing I am a fan of is features an there aren't too many different from the one s compared to the sensation or amaze that wasnt fixed to compare after a little bit of rom flashing.

Hey guys have had some bad luck with my galaxy nexus, I dropped it on the weekend and it is now destroyed. Luckily my insurance company will cover it. The only problem is they are not selling it in Aust anymore. Can anyone recommend a good replacement at a similar price
Well if you still want a Nexus you can ask them to give you your money back and then look for it yourself - I'd do that if my GNex broke. Some near-priced phones (at least in my country) are the Sony Xperia S, the HTC Sensation XE or XL, some Samsung tablet, I think it was the P1000, the Samsung Galaxy R and the HTC Evo 3D hope i helped

Sorry to say that...
but i think there is no replacement for the Galaxy Nexus
and at this price... mhm... what about the Samsung Galaxy S II for example?
It's not really bad
Yeah unfortunately they won't give me money back only replace it. I loved that phone and flashing ROMS daily. How does the S3 compare
Buy one here: http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/samsung-galaxy-nexus/
Please don't tell him the 3d is an option. He doesn't want that pos

Normally I'd agree with your statement about SE/Sony (owned an X10), but the Xperia S is getting direct AOSP support now, so it might not be so bad after all

Yep, only if you count on that stuff that's why custom ROMs exist I wouldn't say poor build though - like I said, I'm very happy with my Arc S. Newer NXT Xperias might be poorly built but the Arc S even makes the SGS2 look like an ogre

the arc looks awkward and the cracks everyone gets around the proximity sensor are proof of poor design.
plus se phones are way too expensive for outdated specs

Build and hardware / software design boils down to personal preference.
As for support... They have the VERY BEST updates. Much better than the crap Samsung and LG.
And... Guys you have insurance for your phones? Wow! I just have crappy warranty that I don't bother voiding.

I have the Amaze, and my wife broke her MyTouch 4G so I can either buy her a cheap ass phone, or buy me the GS3 and give her the Amaze. Think its worth it for me to get the GS3?
A s2 is worth the upgrade from the amaze honestly.

Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I had the Sensation, and then the Amaze before my S3. It's worth upgrading for the screen quality and the screen size. The Amaze screen is absolute **** compared to the screen on the S3. Otherwise, it's not dramatically faster, and honestly overall, not a much better phone, save for the screen. Is it better? Yes, but if I still had my Amaze and my upgrade today, I'd probably wait for the One X+ or the Note 2.

I didn't have to convince her...it was either she gets a low-mid range smart phone or she gets the Amaze. She was happy with either. I bought the GS3 btw. I like that I can use the PS3 controller now (the app didn't support the HTC chipset) and she screen is a lot better. I prefer the Sense keyboard though...maybe ill find a rip in the Play Store and install it. But first...I've been waiting to play with USB-OTG. =D

I've been using the beats drivers on my s3 and I notice a little bit of a difference and I've tried various headphones, beats pros, stock samsung and parrot zik. I'm wondering about your experience with it
real or a placebo?
Try acid audio,no worries about placebos, just don't use stock headphones as they don't give the greatest effect, just my opinion.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I personally think that they are placebos, but maybe that's because I'm not an audiophile..
But if you use high end headphones or anything like that go ahead and try those sound mods and judge for yourself if you notice a difference. Sound is different to everyone.
Doesn't sound any difference with or without even my Audio Technica headphones(which i got free from a Sensa years back).Unless you are playing flacs on your phone, the quality of the music has been decreased to the point where neither headphones nor audio driver matters.

Definitely not a placebo... It's just drivers that have been already equalized per say.. So when you run other equalizers to even further maximize the lows/mids/highs you get a better sound experience... Beats doesn't do anything too drastic but when using high end headphones/audio you can hear the difference
