Ok so the question is.....
Will LTE coverage only be in areas where you have gotten or get 4g coverage or will LTE expand coverage a lil further?
I've got the sprint galaxy nexus

Are you asking if Sprint is going to expand their 4G LTE coverage? If so, yes.

Read this site they have a lot of info on the 4g roll out

Sprint is strategically releasing LTE in limited markets soon. They will of course keep rolling it out over time to the best places they can. There's nothing that indicates they're going to just overlay their current WiMax network with LTE in that order. Eventually they want to cover their entire 3G network with LTE but that's so far off you can't even consider it right now.
It's going to be a very small, slow roll out.
And btw LTE is 4G. You need to refer to Sprint's legacy 4G network as "WiMax". That cuts down on the confusion...

So I have talked to many people in my area. (Arizona) and from what i'm hearing I will never have any 4g.coverage out here because sprint is going to LTE. Does anyone know if that is true or will they be expanding the 4g coverage into my area? I don't feel its right if I have a 4g phone but will never get it unless I get the galaxy nexus which will get there LTE in 2013.

Im sure that might be an option once sprint launches some LTE devices but don't quote me on that.

No probably not as there are no roaming agreements on 4g sprint was talking with big red but probably will never happen as different freq and VZW don't want to anyways they would have to be forced by FCC

I noticed att also has 4g not lte but just 4g in my area, would be awesome to hook up to it
I could be wrong but I think our phone will not have a Sim card either which will probably not allow hooking up to the att version...somewhere it said Sim less lte about our version of nexus

Why isn't there 4G service/signal with sprints galaxy nexus but there is with Verizon's galaxy nexus?I noticed that I had my galaxy nexus on cdma but I switched it to lte/cdma,would that make a difference?

Its because Sprint hasn't launched their LTE network, and when they do it'll be in very limited markets. Don't get your hopes up expecting consistent LTE any time soon.
This is why I find it hilarious that Sprint is selling LTE phones, when honestly a large portion of their customers will not see LTE in the next year...

Absolutely. I'm on T-Mobile and the speeds are great. Better than my WiMax I had on Sprint. Even EDGE on T-Mobile is faster than Sprint 3G.
Another +1 for T-Mobile!

I think you're in the minority among Sprint users, most are experiencing abysmal speeds. And even at those relatively high Sprint speeds, T-Mobile pushes about 4x that.

Are your speeds that good during the day? I get awesome speedtests in the middle of the night too. But speeds are like 200-300 kpbs during the day.

Are T-Mobile speeds good like that everywhere? Also, how is the coverage, particularly California. I have checked the coverage map and feel like they lie about it. If there map is correct, it says they have better coverage than Verizon in my are, which I no is not correct...

T-Mobile speeds are generally pretty solid everywhere in the country (as in, when you have service the speeds are great). Their network has a solid backend and honestly not that many customers (about 1/3 the customers of AT&T or Verizon). The speeds are good. Even at bad times they clobber Sprint. A solid EDGE connection on T-Mobile beats Sprint's 3G based on the #'s I see.

You actually think Verizon has better coverage than T-Mobile everywhere in the country? Believe it or not, Verizon does not have the best coverage the entire country over. No one company is perfect lol.
I'm hoping that sprint is actually adding 4g lte in my area. My phone has had 1x for 12 hours now but with decent data speeds? Anyone else go through this before you received lte

4g in LI is a secondary market, but I bet they are already starting to change to Network Vision. The whole Island will have 4G LTE by mid to late 2013. As soon as the NYC market is finished your area will get a LTE bath.
I saw on the S4GRU map that Queens and parts of Hempstead was already being worked on for Network Vision.
yeah ive been hoping those predictions are true... i work in queens and am in NYC often, but haven't had to much 1x experiences there yet...
hear NYC should be by the end of this year, so hopefully wont have too long of a wait...
Dying for some LTE in the city and Bx, my phone is pretty much like a dummy model when I'm at work.

LTE is NOT 4G. They all call it that, but it's more like 3.9G. LTE-Advanced will be 4G when it is finalized and deployed on carrier networks next year.

I personally don't notice much difference by leaving LTE on versus turning it off. I usually get 2 days of use on a full charge. My results may be skewed a bit cause the lte signal is weak in my area, so my phone automatically switched over to 3G.

Give me a break man. I know what 4G is constituted by but with the carriers pushing out their crap (HSPA+ as 4G) calling LTE 4G is a happy medium.
And I was just trying to figure what the hell that guy was talking about when he said 4G. LTE, WiMax, Real 4G, dumb AT&T/T-Mo 4G?
If I understand correctly. The s4 processor has the lte integrated in such a way that is a bit more battery efficient than a snapdragon s3 device with lte.
This might be better in the Verizon form as they have LTE (we do too but in 5cities).

You might get better answers in the LTE sticky thread in General. Most there have LTE.
