[Q] Is there real reason to believe 1.19.707.1 won't get OTA update? - HTC One X

Apologies if this question has been asked in this way previously but I have searched and not come up with a definitive answer. I have an H23 One X and am still on 1.19.707.1 with no update OTA as of yet. Should I flash or just hold tight and wait it out? My phone works perfectly so no complaints as to functionality but at least two of the threads I searched on mentioned the perhaps mistaken belief that 1.19.707.1 won't update OTA, hence my question on flashing. Cheers all.

You will get an OTA eventually but just don't know when it will come out. But you can always flash the RUU that corresponds to you CID/region. Shipped ROM collection

many thanks for the reply!

Updates are rolled out in batches. Not everyone gets the update at the same time or even the same relative time.

[Q] Official Verizon HTC incredible Froyo Update (Coming tomorrow)

Engadget states that Verizon is going to push the official 2.2 Froyo update tomorrow for all HTC incredible users.
IF this is true I have a few questions. I'm currently rooted and running Sky Raider 3.0 RC2. I did a nand backup of my old original 2.1 Stock sense rom. If i revert back to that, can I just check for updates and apply the new stock 2.2 Froyo rom that is pushed from verizon?
Thanks,
ej_424
It is true. Unlike previous rumors, VZW employees were told today (this afternoon) and it shows on their bulletin screens now.
That and sometime between 1pm and 2:30pm they updated the support page.
So who's gonna jump in and who's gonna wait?
Please answer my question on how to go about updating. I'll jump in but want to knwo what process i have to take. Is there a chance that I wont be able to re-root if i go with the OTA update?
why go through the trouble of unrooting and going back to stock just to receive an update "officially" thats already been rooted and simplified here in 2 threads?

Honestly.. It's pre-rooted, and is almost positively the exact same as the official OTA.. why bother?

Honestly there is so much information out there. Do what I did when I first got my Incredible. Do a search, and read, read, read. Mind you when you're done your head is going to be spinning. But that is the best way to get all the information you need.
To answer your question.
it was said along time ago that accepting the 2.2 OTA may cause you to not be able to re-root.
now, unrevoked forever takes S-OFF and with this you can accept the 2.2 OTA and still keep root, it was permanent, but with the new release of S-ON there is absolutely no reason not to use S-OFF, then un-root, if you want the "official" 2.2.
I thought that SkyRaider 2.5.2 and 3.0 were built off of the previous leak of FroYo 2.2...am I wrong? I love SkyRaider Vanilla, so I don't get giving that up for an "official" OTA? Maybe it is for some, but I don't see what else you'd really get that you don't have yet that was built into the 2.2 ROM's...
Mods will probably move this to Q and A,
But, you have to provide more info as what radio you are on, hboot.., etc. There are several threads started providing info as to how to prepare yourself...
I mean, the leak OTA has been ripped apart and placed all of this forum. The only thing you can get from verizon will be the satisfaction of a cool Blockbuster app and more vzw crapware, but hey if its what you want

Skyraider pre2.0 was based off an evo port, yes. 2.0 and onward is based off the leak, hence the necessity of the radio upgrade.
Gotcha. That's what I thought, as when I installed SkyRaider 2.2, I remember getting an email saying "thanks for registering your Nexus One" or something like that... Thank you for confirming, much appreciated!
Your recovery image must be stock as well. There are several threads that provide the needed file to return the DInc back to 100% stock/pre-root (just make sure S-OFF is applied first).
Mandatory OTA?
I read the pdf files from Verizon's website on the expected 2.2 OTA, and it says it is MANDATORY. That the only options it gives you are install and DELAY install. That it will keep bugging you every 30 minutes til you do !
I have used Unrevoked3, and Unrevoked Forever and love the phone as it is now (particularly the wifi tether). I want to avoid the OTA but do I HAVE to accept it? If I do, I hope I can reload the version I got with Unrevoked3.
(I assume that Verizon will, in their new version make you PAY to wifi tether)
Any info on this?
Thanks

I'll be pissed if thats the case. gotta do everything all over again. But if we're already @ 2.2 shouldn't it recognize that and not force the OTA to even appear on our phones?
I'm still pretty new to this so sorry if I sound like a complete outsider lol
For those of us who've rooted, forever'd, upgraded radio, and installed some leaked version of Froyo already -- if/when we get prompted to update the phone should we accept or deny it?
With the OTA update will be a radio update as well. And if they attempt to install over the same version won't that be the same as manually attempting to update it twice which equals brick?
Or will the update detect an upgraded radio already and skip that step?

IIRC, you will only be prompted if you have sock recovery installed. As for the OTA, it includes updates to the radio and HBOOT. The update doesn't check to see if you already have an upgraded radio because, in theory, no consumer should have it yet.

If this is the case, there will be a whole lot of bricks out there, right? I thought I read that if you flash a radio twice you're bricked. Maybe not with S_Off.

Not a 100% sure but I think its only if you flash a radio.diff twice you get brick.
Never the less just don't have the updated radio with old builds and stock recovery and all should be fine.

Nope

That applied because the prior unrEVOked hack was simply a diff ... it patched. So if you apply the patch to the patch, THEN you brick. Flashing a wholesale radio (while higher on the danger scale) is not the same.

[Q] un-rooted and having trouble with OTA update

So just the other day I was finally able to root my slide via one of the methods posted here. I quickly installed cyanogenmod 6.1 stable only to find out that it is horrible on my battery life. So I decided to un-root the phone and go back to the stock ROM. So I followed yet another method and I was able to return to the original rom, but I am having troubles applying the OTA radio update. I have attempted both methods posted in the "bible" thread and I receive errors after I choose to apply sdcard:update.zip.
It says "E: signature verification failed installation aborted"
anybody have any idea why this may be happening?
Are you trying to apply the "OTA" update found on this board, or did your phone actually receive the update over the air? If you're back to stock, you will not be able to apply updates found on this site like you could when rooted.
I am trying to apply the ones found on this message board, I never received the official OTA update from t-mobile. I remember when i got the phone (bought it 2nd hand) I was able to apply the OTA update. So your saying I need to be rooted in order to apply it?
Well, not entirely sure about specifically the OTA update, but I was under the impression that any .zip you tried to update while not being rooted would not work. However, if you unrooted, you will eventually receive the update if your phone needed it.
So t-mobile is still pushing the update? I was under the impression that is was only durring a select time frame they would be doing that. I might have to hold off on tweaking my phone around some more and see if it does happen.
As far as I know, anytime your phone registers on the network, it will also peek for updates. I do not think there was a time limit, but I could be wrong.
Alright, I will give it a couple days before I do anything and see what happens. Thanks for the input. If anybody else knows anything, please do share .

[Q] I want to find a ruu for 1.82.707.2

my rom is 1.32.707.1. however, I can't receive OTA. I don't know why. Do anyone have the ruu for 1.32.707.5 or 1.82.707.2. i really appreciate. Help
Just got into settings<< about fone<<system software updates<<check now( with wifi enable).I try two times and works for me.
I'm interested too, when I check for an update (multiple times) I don't find one.
I'm on 1.72.
no, it means nothing. the system with 1.32.707.1 can't receive the ota no matter how many times you try
yeah, we are still on 2.2but the newest is 2.2.1
Looking at the new update.. it looks like it has been rolled out in the far east. Europe not yet...

[Q] Went from Yakjuxw to Yakju.. What now?

Hello,
So I read some different topics on the forums and decided I would "convert" my Yakjuxw Galaxy Nexus to a Yakju one. So I did that, and kinda expected a OTA notice regarding 4.0.2 and got nothing. I've been running the device as a Yakju for 4 days now, and I'm beginning to think I did something wrong while converting it.
My question is though, did I do something wrong since I haven't recieved the OTA?
And what can I do to get the latest ICS version on my Galaxy Nexus while still being able to get OTA updates directly from Google?
Thanks for your time and Merry Christmas (For those of you who celebrate Christmas)
Why don't you just install the 4.0.2 ITL41F stock image from google.

Hi,
You didn't do anything wrong if your phone still boots! What happens with these updates a lot of the time is they are rolled out in batches, say 5,000 phones at a time. Not all phones will receive the update at the exact same time, and some phones can even go weeks before receiving the update while some phones may already have it. If your phone still boots, you haven't done anything wrong Just a matter of waiting. Or you can install a custom ROM which most of those are already on 4.0.3. This way you can always be on the bleeding edge
Best bet is if you don't mind backing up all your stuff is to simply flash 4.0.2 directly from the link provided by nabiladeeb
Also if you really want to make sure everything is ok do *#*#checkin#*#* from the dialler and download the GN update checker from the market and that will tell you if you are on the stock google build
Stopped rolling out 4.0.2?
I switched my phone from Yakjuxw to Yakju yesterday. I know the 4.0.2 updated rolled out a few days ago. Does anyone know if it's too late to get the OTA update without manually doing it? Anyone get the OTA 4.0.2 after changing in the last couple of days? Want to avoid erasing everything again by unlocking the bootloader...

Sprint OTA updates with root

I've looked around, but sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm rooted on stock and have been trying to figure out if the latest OTA update will mess up anything if I update it. I can't stand getting asked to update every damn minute. I understand I may have to re-root but it won't brick anything if I update correct? (as a general rule of thumb, at least?)

I dont think you should ever do a OTA while Rooted. I'm sure someone is working on a rooted version of the update. I havent gotten any notifications for a OTA, but I know on my Moto Xoom running ICS, there was a option in the setting to turn off notifications for OTA's.
