Hi everyone,
I'm working on my first app for WP7, a bike trip manager. It's 50% completed - the app's working and no new functionalities will be added. The other 50% is of course bug-finding.
I want to test it on a real Windows Phone device, I don't own one and the emulator isn't perfect for testing. I won't post any details yet, but I can assure you that it will be useful and convenient for cyclists (including me).
For now, I need ONE tester with a Windows Phone Mango, just to check the basic functionalities on a real phone. Then, I'll need around 5 testers to find all the bugs and volunteers to translate some texts to several languages.
I plan to put the app on the Marketplace and everyone who will play a role in beta-testing will have this app for free.
Please don't PM me, just post in the thread and I'll contact you ASAP

Thanks everyone who have helped me make this app better. I believe I can still improve it, so any suggestions and bug reports are welcome.
I just want to announce that since today, the app (for a limited amount of time) is available for FREE

Hello everyone! I am the developer of Prepay Widget, a powerful app that allows you to monitor your account balance through USSD requests.
You can find more info about USSD on Wikipedia, but basically these are short, SMS-like messages used by most GSM and some CDMA providers to deliver information
or control account services. The actual information comes to you in the form of popup toasts, which thids app hides and parses into widgets.
You can find the apps landing page on XDA at the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12348102
However, i want to stress that its important that we get some device-specific feedback, so please post in this thread if you have issues,
this helps me keep track of bugs and requests better.
You can use the Lite version of the app - it has all the functionality of the full version apart from automatic updates (not really that important imo).
As I haven't got one of these phones in my pocket, I need some testers to track down problems. Please, use this thread to comment or
suggest features. It is my belief that addressing issues is best done individually by phone, so if something doesn't work, let me know and I will fix it ASAP.
Market link:

Debugging:
Please use the "Write to developer" item in the Settings menu to send logs. Enable debugging, reproduce your error and then send the logs.
Make sure you include a description - the more detailed the description the better.

As I'm on PAYG and you dont seem to be getting much responses I'll D/L it and give it a go for you and let you know in a few days.
Most people on pay as you go are cheapskates, they just steal the app or use the free version. At $1.28, its a steal.
Any issues with yesterday's update?
Hi Guyz,
Perhaps you all know Next2Me for the Windows Mobile 6.x OS. This app was quite successfull (one of the 10 most downloaded apps in the Marketplace) and also here at XDA-Developers, quite many people liked my tiny app. If you don't know it, here is the link to the corresponding thread: http://xda-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=619329
So, why am I writing here? Because I am going to port Next2Me to Windows Phone 7. And I want YOU to participate on that ! I don't want you to code for me, but you have the great chance now, to submit your feature requests here, to get the software you always wanted to have !
The port of Next2Me is quite envolved by now, and it is already working, so I would be able to send the current state of the software to the Marketplace. But I just want to let you send your feature requests, to get Next2Me even better as it was and now is.
Current feature list of Next2Me
o Location based business search using Google Local Search
o Show a map overview with all found businesses
o Show detailed information (address, phone numbers, etc.)
o Let you add the infos to the contact list, forward the contact by E-Mail or SMS or call the found phone number right from Next2Me
o Show your position and the target contact on a map and the route to the target
o Give you a directions to guide you to the target
So, as you can see, the software is quite envolved by now.
What features will also be implemented:
o Support different local search providers (Wikipedia, Bing, Yahoo?, Yelp?)
o Support free text search for local search
If you are still missing any features, THIS is your chance! Post your feature wish here, let's discuss about it and perhaps it will be implemented !
[UPDATE 10-19-2011]
Next2Me v1.0 has been released in the Marketplace. You can find it here.
Next2Me will be devided into a free and payed version. The free version will show a small ad at the top of the main window. The payed version won't show this. Also the payed version will received new features before the free one and some features will be in the payed version only. But the core element of Next2Me, the local search, will stay free.
But, If you'll buy Next2Me (I am planning to sell it for 99Cent), you will not just get rid of the ad and get some unique features, you will also support me and my dev projects .
Feel free to post any question or suggestions regarding Next2Me here !

i got a little idea. It would be cool if you could set it up so that everyday at a certain time it would set its self automaticlly to go somewhere. So if you leave for work at 7 everyday it would set its self for that location. Also would be cool to able to send your location to other people
I like the idea with sending your current location to other people. I think I will implement this feature ..
But: what do you mean with the other feature, setting your position at a specific time? Why should I do that? Every WP7 device has a built in GPS sensor, so I do have the current location at any time..
This sounds good, Bing does not provide Local search for my country so I need something else to give me access to Google's excellent business listings.
Will this be free / paid / trial-ware?
Next2Me WP7 release
Sorry guys for this long delay..
Finally, I released Next2Me for Windows Phone 7. You can get for free from the Marketplace.
The next version is already in work, with several more features.

If you could make the voice an option for input and integrate with latitude (google) it worked on my 6.5 unit with my fiances iphone was really handy especially with her getting lost

I just had a look on the voice recognition, but I think I must disappoint you. There isn't an API for that at the moment and I don't want to rebuild a voice recognition myself. There are several solutions using web services, but this solution would be slow and doesn't work very well. Microsoft is already working on an own Siri called TellMe! I already registered myself for that API and as soon this is available on WP7 I'll implement this feature in Next2Me .

I used Next2Me on WM6.5 great app, going to give this a try
It is a desktop client (package management on the phone is another topic) that aggregates existing repositories (my own basic format - currently no APT or NuGet) and provides a way to distribute homebrew applications in a more convenient manner.
this looks great! but wheres the download file?
it said "This project has no releases."
As I said in the main post, the binaries are not there yet, but you can always compile the source code yourself. Binaries will be available this weekend.
Here is the latest changeset.
Looks really good.
Downloaded, compiled, ran, downloaded the test apps. IT WORKS!! Really nice concept. I do hope you make some documentation for it. For all I know, this could be the next big thing.
Thanks. Compiled it and ran it. Works.
What i'd like to see is some kind of
- rating.
- possible to not show only screenshots but maybe short videos to demonstrate app.
- possibility to upload also source code of the xaps, so developers can decide if they want to brew this app by themselves or install "unchecked" xaps
thanks so far. i think youre on a good way!
ps: i remember last year there were big discussions microsoft wanted allow homebrew and integrate this into marketplace. hello? chevron? hello? so hopefully youre work is not for nothing.
@amannigam @oOp thanks for the feedback! It works at a very basic level - many more improvements have to be made, but that's going to happen over the weekend.
What specific documentation would you need for it?
Also, ratings sounds like a good idea. The only thing is I need to think of is a way to write those to the repository the user is exposing. Or, I could simply create a central repo/pack-ID link database on my own server that will keep a record of app ratings (can cause some problems, but I am plainly thinking of a PoC now).
I appreciate the feedback!
mwang's post about the DFT 7220 release says that the ROM includes the ability to install XAP's over the net. Homebrew like this but on phone. Just thought you'd be interested in that.
Great concept! I'll have to join in on this. I'll be setting up a repository later on.
What I feel that this project can go a really long way. So try making docs for everything that is being added. So people never lose track of anything. Also info of how to create a repo and adding the repo to app will help them jump to it easy.
Looks great! c# WPF, nothing beats this.
1. The new Mango hack allows downloading and installing XAPS directly from the OS (without a PC connected). Maybe we can use the infrastructure of your PC app and make another mobile app?
2. How can I contribute?

Will try to do that. I will put together a tool to automatically create a repo in the next hours and will make it available by tomorrow. It will be bundled as a part of MetroPack. Thanks for the feedback!
Thank you all!
yes, pls make it into a phone app
Also tell us how can we contribute to the project. Yes we will test it. But apart from that if you need any help in development or anything. Do tell us.
the weekend is almost over and still no release?
And you have my full support also
Coming this evening (Central Time). Have to do some late adjustments and bug fixes.
Got done with the repository builder tool. I decided to integrate it with MetroPack, so it's work in progress now - you can see it as RepoDev, I need to port the rest tomorrow (bindings and actual export).
For those who do not want to download the source code, the binaries will be available here. The current binaries are very raw (functionality-wise it is a PoC). Once I integrate the repo builder tool, I will make sure that packages are actually installed on the device.
Also, if you are creating a repo, make sure you read this first:
http://metropack.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Creating a new repository
There is a breaking change related to the version format.
GREAT APP, cant wait till final build , I get force close error and cant use it for long , I want to donate some money , its not alot but all donations help.
it really has potential
I really appreciate your guys' feedback, but until there is a final release - no donations Thank you, though!
@confrontation - what were you doing to get a forced close?

Hi all
I've just started working as the editor of a Windows Phone/Nokia channel at www.NoBrainerAppReviews.com and I'm looking for bloggers who can provide news and reviews of WP apps and games.
This is a paid position and any app expenses are budgeted for (within reason!) so you'll get the chance to test new apps and games for free!
If you're interested, please drop me a PM.
(for more information about who I am, please see http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/author/ccawley)
Hey, atomickarma, are you currently accepting a developers "self-promotional" app reviews?
Hi there,
I'm creating an Rock Paper Sciccors app with multiplayer support over WiFi or even 3G.
Use it whenever you need to decide something with someone who is not right next to you. Use it to solve all the world problems :cyclops:
It's my very first app and I would love to get some feedback from beta testers.
Some extra informations here (only in german right now):
http://lornz.m3-produktion.de/rock-paper-sciccors-mit-stein-schere-papier-die-welt-retten
You can download it here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/atv6tto217a8eou/Rock-paper-scissors.apk
The game needs network access for the multiplayer support.
Thanks for any reply
PS: Of course you need a partner to test this app!
works perfect tried with my sg3 and htc desire both v4.2.2 android
You should publish the app on google play. If you don't want bad reviews (it may be unstable) you could publish under a different name/namespace.
This way you don't have to ask everyone to download and update the app manually everytime you fix a bug or add a new feature.
Thanks for your replys.
I will consider creating a developer account on google play.
