I don't know about the rest of you guys but since the 1.28 firmware update I'm getting at least 3 more hours out of my battery than before. This is getting even better than my rooted Note was. They didn't even optimize the battery as much as they could with this update I've heard. Love this phone

Funny, mine got worse.
Mine is significantly worse as well, i was able to get 4+ screen time with 1.26 but as of now its ~3 hours. But i don't mind, i assume its just kernel issues because people with the exact same one x screen but different processor are able to get 6 hours screen time.
From what i can gather the problem that everyone is having is that all four cores are running when its not necessary and could be easily scaled down to using just the one, but with time i assume these issues will be fixed.

Hey guys,
Some of you might have seen my thread that with 1.28 my battery was worse. The advice it would get better after few charges. Now a few charges later my battery is even more worse.. I'm getting like a max of 2 hours screen time which was previously about 3.5 hours with same usage.
My screen is on 30% hardly use 3g no games and just a bit of browsing or Facebook. That's all.
Come on.. Two hours really sucks.

You can by downloading a costum rom which is based on 1.26. But without rooting I don't think it's possible to do that.
Just a tip : try a factory reset and a hard-reset! That might fix it.

you probably have some apps doing something in the background constantly or something is broken. it can't be normal.
How can i know if my battery is defect? i think so because i never had a better result than 10hours with my one x.. i tried everything! Flashed 100 Roms and 100 Kernels (Repacked and not) and cleaned my system 100times xD how can i test if its damaged? my htc is 2 weeks old!
you can run the HTC Battery Test

Never heard about that xD PLease more info
EDIT: Found it!
Right now the stock rom and kernel will give you best battery results so stop flashing. The difference won't be large though..

Dim screen screen time out to 15 sec.
Adjust setcpu
Toggle data off when not used
This phone truly has iphone batt quality least I think so.. and I've owned every device under the sun.
Charge all night but charge with data toggled off
you can use painless power control app or widgetsoid

The update is finally here! 31.37 MB file. Hope it improves the battery life!
Yup, have just completed the upgrade, let's see. What this brings!

battery life seems horrible... 11 mins auto brightness down 17%
Give it time, it should improve.
And, the update to 1.29 is known to resolve the dreaded screen flickering. I haven't had the screen flicker since upgrading to 1.29 based ROMs.

I never had screen flickering on 1.28, but I don't see the benefit to my battery life.

I'm out of juice half way through the day I had a full day of use before the update. I was told in another thread to give it some time and a few charge cycles.
Yup, my battery life's gotten worse too. (now even though i'm pretty sure there isn't, i'll still ask for the sake of it..) Does anybody know an easy way to "undo" this last update? i mean without rooting nd stuff..
I dont think so....

Worse battery and worst benchmarks. I know they aren't the sole criteria to measure the performance but they have decreased a lot .antutu is now 8900 and quadrant 3600. Couldn't get worse than this. only good thing is screen flicker has gone.

Mine also gave a 10700 but in its original firmware. After first update , the score is just falling.

Benchmark scores seem to be affected by remaining battery and temperature of the device.

i think the best way to know does it work worse or did you do some thing wrong is give it one day with just stoke app. If it is ok so you or the app you installed must do something wrong
is your battery low when you did the benchmarks? I get around 10400 antutu and 4400 quadrant. everything is stock.
Hi,
I've had my galaxy for about 3 weeks and I've been dealing with horrible battery issues. I can charge it to 100% and go to sleep and wake upbto fund its almost dead...I'm in a good coverage area and I dint have any apps installed except tapatalk.
I first noticed it when I flashed paranoid..and the after that it has just been crappy ..I Odin back to stock and did the ota update and I still have bad battery life
Here is the things that I've done to my phone..
Installed juice defender
Stopped all sync
Screen brightness is all the way down..but this don't matter cause the screen isn't even on
Turning off mobile data and WiFi
I have noticed that if I don't have a SIM card in then the battery last a lot longer but not all that great
I have attached so screenshots to maybe help y'all figure out something I'm not seeing
Have others had this problem ..if so what did you do?
Should i take it back to AT&T and tell em fix it,, I bought used but I have the box and all that
Bad battery?
battery
5-6 hrs seems way off even with stock ... I would return it. Or you can root it, install CM10 & ktoonez and see how much better the battery is ...

I have a us att gs3 had it for a month and I had massive battery issues I mean I could go to sleep at 100% and wake up at 15% after a battery pull and nothing running I tried everything and I mean everything. A guy at work has a tmobile with 0 problems. A verizon guy has problems. After seeing a million people on line complaining I decided returning it for another was a 50-50 crapshoot and to just root and rom it. Right decision im running a jellybean leak called pistol by this guy drew. WOW works amazing. My battery can last me two days now depending on use. Its not a perfect software it as all custom roms has quirks but once the samsung official jellybean comes out I think the phones will be perfect

Hi everyone,
My One X used to have brilliant battery life. I didn't turn on the screen that often throughout the day, but I was able to regularly check the news, send and receive texts, make a few calls and - crucially - keep my Wifi on for the entire day. With this setup, I was regularly getting 4 or 5 days of usage without having to charge my phone. However, as soon as JellyBean came along as an official update, I grabbed it... since then, I'm lucky if I get a day and a half out of it before I need to plug it into the wall.
I'm not running any custom ROMs: just whatever I get through official O2 OTA updates. Battery usage says that 36% of my drain is due to Android OS, with another 20% due to Maps. The rest are tiny, only 2 to 5%. Now I understand that a new version of Android might make some new demands on the hardware, but from what I heard, the update was supposed to improve battery life if anything. Even with the new Power Saver feature on, the difference is minimal, with only a few hours standby time gained overall.
Can anyone suggest anything to remedy this, or is this fairly normal? It's not world-ending and perhaps I was just really lucky to get 5 days of use in the first place, but thought I'd ask the experts before I grin and bear it. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
19 hours and 40 minutes into this usage cycle, I've got 57% remaining. So it's shaping up to be about 40 hours of usage, down from 120 at its peak. Right now, it's also saying that Android OS has used 99% of my battery... and nothing else is on the list.
Does no-one have any idea what's going on?
Did you make an hard reset when you updated your phone?
This is why when you upgrade your phone to a newer Android version it is better if you perform a hard reset
AW: [Q] Battery life poor since JB
I suffer(ed) also under heavy drain due to maps since update to JB. But I'm convinced it's cause of Google Now. Disabled it yesterday and will check whether it gets better or not. Try disabling gnow and see if it gets better. I also had issues with gsam battery monitor in case you use this.

Thanks for this. Your suggestion got me checking for other people having issues with Google Now and battery life. I disabled it as you suggested and I'm definitely seeing an improvement. It's still not as good as it was, but I think I might be able to squeeze more than two days out of it now.
Do you have stock rom? Because I've just upgraded to JB yesterday and flashed a custom rom, and since then my battery is like 3 times more powerful.
You should definitely switch to a custom rom... Ever since I upgraded to JB I've seen a massive improvement in my battery life.. From barely making it through the day to almost 2days of my typical of usage.
Google Now does seem to kill battery as it polls the Google maps app a lot.. So I usually open task manager to make sure it isn't running in the morning background.
