I was just looking at an unlocked TP2 on eBay and love the fact that it has the second CMOS camera. Sadly it is for ATT/TMobile and I dont want to jump ship from my Verizon and Sprint accounts. I know its a long shot but because both versions are world phones would it be possible to flash an ATT/TMobile or Rogers to Verizon or Sprint and it work?

No, but the Verizon/Sprint/Telus models can work on ATT, Tmo, Rogers since they are cdma and gsm. Unfortunately that's not what you were looking for

The Verizon/Sprint version won't be comming with a second camera.
I know its "wishfull thinking" but.....I was hoping that all the band limitations were software based and all the hardware was inside. Possibly some way to hack it to use on any carrier. Like I said, wishful thinking.
Only the Europe models have the second camera. All the North American models only have the camera on the back.
And the Verizon/Sprint models won't work on AT&T/Tmo unless someone hacks the North American GSM lockout they claim is implemented.

Will there be other versions of this phone? I want to purchase one but I am scared they will release another version (US version) or something and it will have better specs like with the HD2.
Right now the only place it is coming in the US for sure is US cel. And that is a CDMA network carrier.
what a waste, do you know if a Desire equivalent will be released for gsm besides the nexus1 that is out right now? Reason for asking is because I would like a warranty and of course 3G support

As the question states I'm a bit of a newb to the actual developing of programs however why is it that there is an way more GSM roms/kernels/hacks for GSM GN or any phone for that matter?
Is it harder to develop for CDMA? or is it just less popular?
I have a verizon CDMA GN and understand its way new but am wondering if I should not get my hopes up on lots of different roms to choose from?
Coming from my old samsung vibrant its a bit of a change.

-Cdma has only been out for a week or less. I believe it dropped last thursday morning.
as droidstyle said, it's basically because of the time.
the GSM version has been out since november, and is useable all over europe, and also in the united states on AT&T and T-Mobile.
the CDMA-LTE version has barely been out for a week, and is only available on verizon and is not useable anywhere else.
so already you have a larger userbase and timespan for the GSM.
but honestly, don't worry about it. all the major roms like cyanogen will come out for both.
Yeah pretty simple answer is GSM has a way larger population of owners, and been out 4 times as long as the CDMA version.
GSM is sold mainly in Europe and can be used on two U.S. carriers, where as the CDMA version is on one single U.S carrier only. And the CDMA phone just came out on Thursday.
Now if we get the other U.S. CDMA carrier to get this phone = Sprint that would help development, plus I believe one of the largest carriers in China is also CDMA ?
Plus I don't believe it would be too hard to port the GSM roms to the Verizon Nexus....Right?
Whos going to get the galaxy nexus if it comes to AT&T. That lte might make a big difference between getting the att version and the international version.

But The One X doesn't have as much support as the Galaxy nexus does right now. That phone is still relatively new.
One X will never have the support like our Gnex because Gnex is a developer's phone and a damn good one at that

I have the international version on AT&T and it is amazing. I would prefer an unlocked, unbranded Nexus on AT&T over at LTE one any day.

Amen to that! I had a AT&T Galaxy Note the boat ware was horrible. Half the crap nobody would ever touch, I dont get it lol. Plus the AT&T branding in silver yuck!
Even though my area only has 4G and not LTE. I think HSPA plus is fine, LTE is overrated IMO.
I have a upgrade due in May, I am thinking about getting a HTC One X to complement my galaxy Nexus. Never tried Sense but would love to give it a test run

Seeing as how you can get a lightly used (or new) international GNEX for like $350 nowadays (off contract) it's hard to imagine why ANYONE would be waiting for an "official" AT&T version that's ****ted up with bloatware.

The OneX is just a generic non-Nexus Android phone, and it will suffer the same fate AS a generic non-Nexus Android phone.

i picture the GSM LTE version that will land on AT&T to be just like the VZW version.. sucky battery life and signal issues..
I would rather pick up a One X before picking up a LTE Galaxy Nexus on ATT if that was the choice..
The international version of the One X will have support because it is world wide, rather than tied down to one carrier or having to have a different roms etc. i dont see the lte version having it tho
But the Galaxy Nexus will always have 10x more support since its what Android stands for.. The One X is what HTC wants it to be and for others to work around that

I used 20-30GB on AT&T over and over and I never got a text. Oh yea
More on topic: I think they just need to get the 4th nexus on time. At this point I would buy a unlocked nexus over a "AT&T" nexus any day of the week.
I think what everyone is failing to realize that all GN variants are ether LTE or HSPA+ and not both. I think the ATT variant will be the first one which will do both just like all ATT LTE phones.
That might be worth getting because of that fact. Also, because its GSM it should get full support from Google unlike the cdma nexus phones.
I don't know about you but I might just wait to see what comes out.

The CDMA Nexus phones still have full support from Google in terms of updates and providing factory images. In the past week they've added factory images of 2.3.7 and 4.0.4 for the Nexus S 4G on Sprint, and once the VZW Gnex gets updated to 4.0.4, I guarantee those factory images will be available as well. In addition, Google has recently provided NS4G and VZW Gnex binaries for AOSP 4.0.3 and 4.0.4.
They only removed code support from AOSP because CDMA is a proprietary platform and the APK signatures for the CDMA functionality are ROM specific. So basically it was impossible to compile a pure AOSP build for a CDMA device that would have a working radio. This was a known problem even before they removed official code support. Those APK signatures have to be recreated with every ROM and the APKs themselves can't be open sourced. This really only affects you if you're trying to create a non-rooted OEM firmware. It's really a non-issue for those of us on XDA in the end.
Now to get back on topic, I agree with you that the AT&T GN would be awesome purely since it'd be a GSM/LTE variant. I'll be interested to see speed tests and how it compares to VZW LTE. I'll also be interested to see if it retains HSPA+ support in case you live in a non-LTE market. It'll also be interesting to see if it works with T-Mobile 3G/HSPA+ or if they remove the T-Mobile bands from the radio entirely and make it a true "AT&T Nexus".
I've got the GSM Nexus on ATT and it works great, except when I manually upgraded to 4.0.4, which had terrible connection and battery issues. I reverted to 4.0.2 and it's working great again. Speed, performance are excellent, no urgency to get an LTE phone just yet, considering the options will have so much bloatware. I can fully recommend the phone, just be cautious about upgrading to 4.0.4 at this point, and be prepared to go back to 4.0.2 if needed. Good luck!

This is really sad. Possibly the main reason to get an international GN (and go prepaid).
Sorry if this has been asked before, however, I just came across the US Samsung GNex page and discover a LTE version of my trusted Sammy GNex i9250.
What I am wondering is.. Is it a totally different phone or do our GNex's have LTE hidden away that no one knew about and will just need it activating when 4G LTE is available on the right frequency?
Remember I am talking about UK GSM versions and LTE/4G in the UK.

The gnex is not like the n4 in that SoC of the gnex doesn't have any lte integrated into the chip. So no, the gsm gnex doesn't have anything lte related.
