Just picked up my one X from FedEx. Im still waiting for SIM card from StraightTalk.
Im trying to set up WIFI. When I go to type in the password the connect button is greyed out even after I type in anything.
Am I crazy...
any ideas?
Well it turns out it has to have 8 characters for the connect button to become active.
I work at a post-house and the password is 6 letters long. They make it easy because we have clients in/out all day long.
Is there a way to override this?
What the hell.

Ok.. now that ive had time to cool off, here is the problem.
I work at a University. On a laptop, connecting to the Wi-Fi is a fairly painless process. Its a secure network, so it requires us to use our credentials (ie, our network login/pass phrase) to even connect to the Wi-Fi. Note that when i say pass phrase, that means its farily longer than a standard password. My own is somewhere in the neighborhood of ~20 characters.
The problem with my Touch Pro 2, lies in the final process of connecting to this network, where it will ask me for this information (login, password, domain). I get about 6 characters of my password in, before it pops up a message saying "Unable to connect", as if it thought i was done typing and went ahead and tried to connect.
Heres more info.
Auth: WPA2
Encryp: AES
EPA type : PEAP
Ive tried using Portrait keyboard, Landscape keyboard, and hardware keyboard.
edited for more info.
Seriously? NOBODY else has had this problem?
damn
my touch pro2 has this problem, too
anybody help us
I have connected to 3 Wi-Fi' with passwords of 8-10-12 characters and have no problem so far. Try making sure wifi is off before connecting??...Tj

umm.. then how will i see the network?
The issue is, in the way it asks for it. Its not something i can make a cert or something i can type before hand. Only thing i can do is try to connect, the Network will then ask me for a log in. If i manage to get it typed in, in time, i can save it and it will hold for a bit, until something happens like the network goes down. Which then, removes the saved log in, and i have to do the whole dam process over again.
No problem here and I use 20-character network keys on my WPA or WPA2 encrypted wireless networks (I manage or maintain several of my friends or clients networks)
Can you add and configure a connection to your network by pretending it to be a hidden network (non-broadcasting SSID)?
changing to hidden didnt work.
Ive also tried going into the Advanced settings, and on the LEAP tab, entering in my information manually, but when i do that and try to connect, it attempts to, then stops, tried to connect to a saved network that isnt in range, then stops like it didnt find anything.
LEAP - you need to configure to a domain network?
How did you try configuring for a hidden network?

Aye, we use a domain, and i have that info typed into it.
I just went though the network settings and check the box that it was a hidden network?
still having this issue. Trying to use the Enroll section by typing in my creds doesnt work, as it just tries to connect, sits for a second, then disconnects. At some point id like to try a cooked rom, but not gunna do that for a while (least till i read over it a couple more times) and even then can't guarantee the new rom wont have the same problem.
Any other suggestions?
bump-bump-bump
nobody know how to fix this hua
Anyone have any new info about this? i still cant type my password in fast enough..
Is their anyway to get it to WAIT for me to hit connect before actually trying to connect?
Hey all,
My TP2 no longer works on internet or email using wifi. 3G, etc is fine, but when wifi is turned on, it will not open a page. Tried Opera and IE. On email I get a sync error unless the 'Data' connection slider is 'On.'
What settings am I supposed to see in the connections section? I must have changed something without knowing. Tried searching a couple of forums, but I think I'm the only one with this situation. Hopefully it's something silly and I'll pop myself in the forehead for not figuring it out...
Thanks for the assist,
OZ
me too...
just thought i'd let u know you are not the only one with the wifi problem. i will let you know if i find a fix...
I have a Tilt2 and have the same problem. It connects to a wifi network but then won't actually pass any data back and forth (even the Data Connection switch in "Communications" is greyed out). Frustrating. Any ideas?
Hey Y'all
I spent all day trying to figure out why I have lost my internet on my Desire.
I can browse using my wireless, but if I turn off WIFI, all I get is Webpage not available. (On any page I try)
I have been into the APNs to check the settings & they are all ok.
I am with Orange Uk & have an unlimited Internet package.
The little 3g arrows are flashing?
Also I have 70 meg Phone memory & I get a warning if try to intall a 1meg game, saying "Out of Space Program could not be viewed. Free up some space on your phone and try again".
Any help from the experts would be really appreciated.
Thanks
E
I had the same problem with the interent, turned the phone off then on, and internet started working again.
Ok further update.
My emails are working?
I just rang orange & they sent me the settings via text & told me to shut of my phone & remove the battery, then boot it up, & as expected, that did NOTHING!
So I have no idea why I can only browse using WIFI.
Mobile is enabled, I'm not in aeroplane mode, or anything daft like that.

What values do you get if you go:
settings/about phone/network
look at signal strength. might give you a clue.
i'm on orange uk and my desire can be tempremental. it's loads better outside of central london. perfect on wifi. if i'm in a pub in town trying to read the news, or on the bus home, sometimes i get next signal at all.
what i try, and this seems to work sometimes, is turning mobile on/off a few times, or even powering down/up.
ps. it's confusing when you make a statement and then put a question mark at the end (your emails are working? what does that mean - are you asking us, or telling us you're not sure, or what?)
I mentioned this in a different thread...
Do you switch off wifi correctly?
I found that when I am connected via wifi and then go out of range my mobile network can't connect to the internet.
I have to turn of wifi manually every time in order to have the mobile network working.
Usually switching to airplane mode and than back again solves this issue.
The important thing is to always switch from wifi to mobile network manually. It's quite annoying but it's not the end of the world.
Thanks for your replies.
I rang Orange again today, usual call centre.
It turned out in the end that I had lost my WAP settings.
The call centre talked me through setting up the WAP APN settings & the Internet came back.
Don't know how I lost them in the first place?
I am having problems connecting to my home network with the EVO. I have a DLink-655 router with WPA2 encryption. I went in and looked at the network key which is a ton of characters. I put that key into my phone and it tells me its unable to connect to the network. If I turn my encryption off, it connects to the phone just fine. It is also set to mixed for B, G, and N. Can someone please help me out.

Set it yo WPA2-Personal and make your own passkey. i have the same router and have no problems with it set up that way.
It is on WPA2 Personal. Is your key like 50 characters long that you have to input into the phone?

this def should be in the questions board ...
with wpa2 personal YOU set what YOU want the password to be.
it can be 50 characters or it can be 5 ... up to you cuz you're the network administrator! good luck Mr. Network Administrator!
Ok I figured it out. The one that was generated for me was 54 characters long and I know I put it in the phone correctly. I just did what you suggested and create my own key that's around 23 characters long. Hope that is secure enough.
So i purchased a One X got it unlocked and now is under Straight Talk, now here is my issue.
When i have the phone running on the Network Data it works fine you know Pandora, Fire scanner, emails, text, then when i get home and connect to my home WiFi to pull data for email and such, it will not work says i have no connection, then when i restart the phone then it will connect to my home WiFi and pull data.
Then when i walk out of the house and the phone disconnects from WiFi to go into the network for data it will not work until i restart the phone again and then the network will work.
and the process keeps going like that, i have to restart when i want to use one or the other, it wont automatically switch and connect like any other phone i had.
APN settings are the one S.T. gave me over the phone when i spoke to C.S.
Anybody else have or ever had this issue?
