Introducing quattrimus: ICS for the Optimus V
What is it?
quattrimus is Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) for the Optimus V. This is the product of some amazing work by many people. First and foremost:
* lupohirp for building CM9 for the LG P500.
* mikegapinski for fixing a build issue that allows support for older devices.
* drewwalton19216801 for porting the ROM to the Optimus S.
* The CyanogenMod and AOKP teams for all their work on fixing and improving ICS.
* blarf for creating IHO.
* LeslieAnn for the awesome build server.
* Many, many others.
Why quattrimus?
This is Android 4.0. lupohirp is Italian and quattro is the Italian word for four. So the name pays homage to his amazing work.
Status?
This is currently alpha quality. Some things are known to be non-functional (see below) and the ROM is generally unpolished.
If you haven't flashed a custom ROM before, this is not ready for you yet!
Working:
* Phone
* SMS
* WiFi
* Bluetooth
* Hardware video acceleration
* Video (youtube etc.)
* Headphone audio out (music)
Partially working:
* 3G is spotty and can be difficult to get running (see post 2 for the fix)
* MMS is very finicky, not functional for many/most people (see post 2 for the fix)
* Camera takes pics only, no preview window or video
* Some video intensive apps/games can freeze up sometimes
Not working:
* Built-in tethering (workaround: use third party apps)
* CPU does not enter "deep sleep" mode often and/or reliably
Note: the above is subject to change as the source projects change.
Future plans?
This is a broad roadmap, in no particular order:
* Get as much working as possible
* Continue trimming down the size
* Polish it up
* Port to other Optimus variants
* Release an AOSP build (?)
IMPORTANT: tdm will be releasing this ROM for all of the Optimus variants and will need testers. If you are willing to take up this job, PM him.

When is the next release?
Expect alpha9 by 4/28.
When is it going to be beta?
When everything works, at least minimally. I have no idea when. Maybe next month. Maybe next year. Maybe never.
Where do I file bug reports?
There is a bug tracker Link Removed If it becomes more of an annoyance to me than a help, I'll turn it off or just ignore it, so please use it wisely:
Please be courteous and professional.
Please file thorough reports. Some things are obvious, some aren't, so you'll need to use some discretion in how much detail to write. Generally, you should answer these questions: What build are you running? What happened? What should have happened? Under what conditions? Do you know what might have triggered the issue?
Please don't file duplicate issues. Search for your issue both in this thread and in the bug tracker before filing a new issue.
Please use this for quattrimus specific bugs at the moment. I'm not fixing CM9 issues yet. If you have another CM9 device to compare behavior, that would be ideal.
Can I donate?
I don't want anything for myself, please support open source software generally (eg. EFF), lupohirp, and the IHO team.
NOTE: This was originally posted on Android Central and I couldn't find it on XDA so I figured I'd repost it here (this means that I AM NOT THE DEVELOPER OF THIS ROM). I will however maintain this thread and help where possible. All credit goes to tdm and his band of outlaws. Have a good day and enjoy the ice cream sandwich.

Temporary fixes until alpha 9 is released.
coming from someone who has no experience coding android...take this with a grain of salt.
we had luck on the S with data when this line was enabled in the build.prop. i dont know if it will help you guys, but its worth a shot.
Code:
#ro.telephony.ril.v3=signalstrength,skipbrokendatacall,facilitylock,datacall,icccardstatus,1
delete the # to make it look like this
Code:
ro.telephony.ril.v3=signalstrength,skipbrokendatacall,facilitylock,datacall,icccardstatus,1
I have no doubt it will do nothing, but, hey, worth a shot maybe?

The above is a 3G fix suggested by eletendre84. Thank him on Android Central!
You'll need to edit the apns-conf.xml to reflect Virgin Mobile's values 311 490
For anyone who wants to try:
- use a root capable file manager, and copy the /system/etc/apns-conf.xml file to your PC (it's too large to edit on the phone)
- open it with a good text editor (notepad may work, but I don't ever recommend notepad).
- search for Virgin Mobile US, and change the mcc to 311 and mnc to 490.
- copy it back to your phone,
- clear cache in the MMS app,
- reboot.
Let us know if it works for you.

I used Gingerbreak for my phone but I'm not quite sure if that would work for the Vortex. Verizon is pretty good about locking up their phones. Anyways, if you surf around you should find a method that fits. Good luck.

A better question would be is a rom ever complete? There will always be bugs that are found that do need to be fixed just like Android in general it's never really "done" there are always updates to it that fix things.
What gingerbread rom do they have for our phone. Looking to try them out.

Well you do realize that our phone is CDMA, Proprietary code is not available for some of the hardware which greatly increases the time it takes to develop our phones ports.
If you like the idea of a Complete CyanogenMod you should grab an international GSM phone preferably a stock AOSP device. You will have a "complete" rom alot faster than you ever will with a sprint device.
The OG epic only became officially supported not long ago.

There is no "official" GB rom from CM for this phone. Rootzwiki has an "unofficial" CM7.1/2 that's no longer supported however. We are getting "official" CM9 and the Alpha 1 is in the Dev section.

There are at least 3 or 4 Cyanogenmod attempts for our phone, isn't that a set team that always develops or can anyone attempt a Cyanogenmod? Don't understand how there can be multiple Cyanogenmod ROMs for our phone?

I think you mean to say there are multiple AOSP-based (original ICS w/o Touchwiz) ROMs for our phone.
Sbrissen and Darchstar are currently working on CM9 for our phone.
T.C.P. has released AOKP, Gummy, and Codename Android for our phone.

Anyone is free to take the CM code and build their own ROM. That's the beauty of open source. All they ask is that such derivative builds are labeled as kangs or otherwise make note that they are using CM9's codebase.
Anyone can become a member of CM if they do good work such as committing bug fixes to the project and take a role in supporting CM on a particular device
Darchstar's build should be considered the "official" CM9 build for our phone. He's part of the CM team. However, until he or others are able to build a working kernel from source for the E4GT and not use Samsung's we won't have a truly CM9 build.

No rom is complete without official ice release.. they don't even have source for our phones yet for ics. Therefore it cannot be completed.. plus kudos to the person who said it will never be complete based off of bugs plus there are always ways to improve a rom regardless; of how "complete" it is.. would you want a dev to make a rom then never update it? They can't make it official until everything is working..

Nothing is ever finished in android
Notice the carriers always pushing fixes. ICS will probably be updated within a month after official drops.
Just the nature of the beast.

Android has become more and more complex to develop for (both in terms of skill and computing power), and the true developers (not including people who just modify existing roms) have become more spread out across devices.

Hi everyone,
As you probably have heard, the Ubuntu Touch (alpha) image has been released for the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, 7 and 10.
I would like to request porting it to our N7100 devices!
If I could I would do it myself but I have never ported anything.. However, if I can help in any way I will gladly do what I can!
For reference:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
Since Galaxy S3 was one of the best-selling smartphone, I hope will be a port for it and consequentially for note 2 that has the same hardware platform
its not the place to Request a port.

big boooi no need to request, the porting instructions just came online and seem as "easy" as building CM from source.
its only natural that ports will be available on most devices.

I am aware of this.. But porting also has it's own malfunctions and problems. By porting an alpha release some of these problems can be solved before the stable release, was my thought

Hi Dev,
Ubuntu Touch is fabulous and it looks great.

But this month no update, not a single post. Is this project ALIVE or being DISCONTINUED or DEAD???
Dev pl work on it, we have lots of hope on you.

Hi again,
A quick port from the e975. Not built from source.
Original Thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2339403
Kernel is dvhexer's alternate kernel. But you can definitely bring your own kernel.
This build is JLS, so careful when flashing kernels.
Now, since this is a port, I cannot change the source, That means I can't debug it. I can, but only up to a point. (user-debug only).
When the original thread updates, if someone wants it, I'll update the port. At one point, if it becomes real good, I might build from source. Or not.
Enjoy!!

Some announcements from our G+ page:
EDIT: Check our homepage (http://pac-rom.com) for the countdown until release.
PAC 4.4
For those wondering when PAC-man 4.4 nightlies will start up...Within a week is the answer you are all looking for. We are putting the final touches on things as I write this. If you haven't noticed here are some of the things that we are doing.
1. Our new updated gerrit http://review.pac-rom.com/#/q/status:open,n,z
2. Our new pac forums http://forum.pac-rom.com/ This will be used to house all of pac roms for now on. We will still have threads on xda that are supported but the links in each thread will be redirected to the new pac forum. Why are we doing this...well mainly because we ( the pac core devs) will be monitoring and answering as many questions as possible and this is easier done in one place instead of trying to monitor threads spread all over xda.
3. http://changelog.pac-rom.com this is pacs newest changelog. It is done automagically thanks to pvyparts magic dust. Here you will be able to see all downloads, changes, and updates to the PAC source code.
4 DIBS this is our Distributed Build System. This is used to build all pac nightlies and it needs help. Please see here for more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2580514
and here to see how many servers we have running right now www.pac-rom.com/#Dashboard We are looking to have upwards of 20+ servers running at full strength so that nightly builds are done as fast as possible.
Please stop asking for eta's as I have now given you a small glimpse and told you within the next week you shall see the best pac has to offer.

PIC
https://github.com/Pinky-Inky-and-Clyde
Introducing PIC. This is PAC's version of TheMuppets. We will support all devices including legacy devices which CM does not support. This git will accept commits as fast as we can test them. We auto-merge on a set time multiple times a day from TheMuppets for now to stay as up to date as possible for now. Please feel free as a user/dev team/ other rom group/or whatever to use this git to your full advantage. Please send pull requests for legacy devices.
Enjoy and welcome to the new PAC

the i9505 is still jfltexx but most roms now come over a generic "jflte" which incorporates all variotions of the s4 in one place.... so anywhere you see JFLTE it is good to go on your s4!!
Android N is out, and almost all devs are not LGOG user anymore, will we get a chance to get a porting of nougat for our g?
Maybe. Kev is our main hope (please don't harass him as LGOG is not his primary phone anymore). Initial M builds were a port of Nexus 4 builds, I'm aware N builds on Nexus 4/mako exist but don't know how buggy they are. I would suggest patience and someone will eventually make us an N build. An N build that is good for daily use/bug free requires; a lot of time, effort and skill (none of which I have).
