CRT screen off animation ICS - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Is this not possible at all? Or is it just not for ics

well the ics roms that are out currently are the leaked versions of the skyrocket made to work with t989 which probably means the devs just need the proper drivers in order to do the crt animation in ics roms for t989 which is not out yet.
but the crt animation works in ics, just not yet in t989 until proper drivers are released :L

For the time being you can use the app "Screen off and lock" it's not perfect but it does its job.
>>DARKSIDE<<

Devs have been working on this for awhile. Basically it boils down to the fact that ics lacks the libs for this (surfaceflinger), and it would pretty much have to be re-written

I believe once we have kernel source for ICS. Then we'll have bln support.

It shouldn't be drivers because you have the ICS build....
Its framework related....
If anything it would only be the libs if what I posted above doesn't work...

NVM got it to work. I turned all animations off.
I have been using this app on my vibrant. Installed it onto my SG2 and it worked for the first day (Darkside EVO 2 ROM) but now the only animation that works is the static. Any ideas as to why I am having thiss issue or is this due to the ROM still being in beta?

it works in aokp. i was so used to not having it i was surprised when it did it. lol.

[Q] why there are NO AOSP or CyanogenMod for the ET4G?

just curious because im jumping to Sprint with the ET4G next week and i've always been using AOSP roms and CM specially.so what gives, how come no CM7 for ET4G?
so i've been out of XDA for a while so please fill me in.thanks

i wish but seriously how come there are no AOSP roms for the ET4G?
ICS sourced dropped like a week ago, the device has been out for a couple months
The biggest problem is that there is no aosp kernel right now that works. So once we have that there is a better chance at getting aosp roms.

Well there's supposedly a build of CM7 Kang that works quite well on the SGSIIE4GT with some mod work. It was also sent to one of our main devs, Viper boy, and I'm pretty sure he and his team are ripping that thing apart line by line to make it work the best it can. They like to release finished products and they literally just got it yesterday... so.. idk hopefully soon!!!

Just curious, will it help once the Nexus-S 4G gets the official ICS Android 4.0 update from Google + Sprint, can any of that code be used to help make a ICS ROM for our E4T ?
Don't both phones share the same CDMA radios, and some similar Samsung hardware ?

Hold up: Who exactly did you "clarify" that with? I'm only curious because I was the one who sent that kanged Rom to Viperboy, and it was MOST DEFINITELY NOT an ICS Rom when I sent him the link to my Dropbox. When, exactly, did it morph from a tired CM7 build into an ICS ROM?
Am I now known as an "underground smuggler" of ICS ROMs??

Cm9 Tablet mode/Hybrid UI

I saw this on phandroid first introduced to the galnex.
I know we just got the unofficial cm9 and don't even have fully functional Aosp build or AOKP builds yet. But is any of our devs interested in this? It looks very interesting and I think with the size of the screen that our phones come in, it could be very nice on our Hercules.
Heres the mod for the epic 4g touch

cool man! glad to see a solid dev interested in this. im excited!
@ Starskyrob, I hope you do look into this and try to get it 100% working with our phones. I went to the link and flashed the tablet ui mod. With success I might add! It looks real nice, I didnt flash no kernel. Just used rom toolbox to set dpi to 128, then rebooted in recovery, flashed the file, clear dalvik, fixed permissions, reboot and done! We do have some very minor issues, but this could be due to our cm9 not being all the way done yet. Anyways, good luck on that and have fun...
I wonder if ravers rc9 would work with this?

The one in the link in the OP, from the epic touch forum. The cm9 zip. For some reason it worked. I had to clear cache and dalvik and fix permissions as well. And then clear the data on non responsive apps.
Yea it works for me too but when I back it up and then try to restore coming from another rom, the lock screen glitches then it goes into the boot animation and stays there. Any help?

Simple because our phones are not supposed to have ICS yet. The first ICS leak came FOR TMOBILE about 2 weeks ago until that time we were using AT&T so we now have a compatible version of ICS. The developers are great they made a OS from another phone work on ours, now that they have the correct structure for T-Mobile give them some time they have lives too ya know, Darkside has a good stable rom and constantly improving it. ICS is about 93% fully functional now on our phones, and remember roms cut much of the bloat out that we dont need, etc.otherwise buy a Nexus

Wondering about new Jellybean Roms?

Hey guys, I've used a couple of roms and am a fan of Euroskank, CM10 and AOKP, but I realize they still have no touchwiz. I was wondering with the official JB release being out for the international s3 and it seems to feature touchwiz as well were there no roms that featured the same(Jellybean and touchwiz)? Let me know guys thanks.

"Euroskank, CM10 and AOKP" are all AOSP ROMs, therefore they don't contain Touchwiz. If you want Touchwiz JB ROM, then you'll have to wait for that from Samsung. BTW, official JB ROM for our phones are not out yet.
Correct, AOSP and AOKP are ROMs based off the Android Open Source Project. HTC and Samsung basically load their own launcher or UI over it. There are usually a few ROMs that come with TW but the devas might be waiting for the official source

Sept for the lack of touchwiz things like smart alert, smart stay, direct call, tilt to zoom, pan to move/browse, shake to update, palm pause, etc. That is the reason that I like touchwiz. It's slightly more functional than vanil. You can put a launcher on touchwiz and look like AOS/KP with the functionality, you lose that functionality though if you go to AOSP and try to look like touchwiz
Too bad the ROMS are full of bugs and do not work right most of the time. I'll wait for a stable update from Samsung.

Need help finding good stable ROM with CRT off animation?

Hey Im new to the s3 forum and was on the s2 forum..
Question is, what are some good ROMs that are stable and have the CRT off animation effect?
Only one I have seen is the older AOSP Jovy Rom where he implemented The sony xperia feel
Any other choices? Thanks!!
Keep reading. There are about 25 good roms for the S III. No TouchWiz roms have the CRT animation in them (I'm almost positive) not sure why not, but it is a great deal of Smali coding and not every one likes it, so it's just not worth their time maybe. AOSP roms are strong here cause of the qualcomm chip and their support for the Open Alliance. Just backup your IMEI and start testing, there is also an abundance of videos of each rom on YouTube watch those to get a better feeling.
Haha I remember the galaxy s1 days when enabling CRT off animation just meant changing a boolean value in framework-res...I guess that it requires more smali hacks nowadays so people are including it Sammy ROMs less.
However all AOSP based ROMs for the s3, have the CRT off animation by default.

Like mentioned, none of the sammy roms have the crt off effect however nearly all aosp ones do. It is an integrated feature in both cyanogenmod and aokp. My favorite is the pacman rom. It is completely stable as a daily driver but does have a few bugs that can be easily fixed. There are also nightly releases adding the best from all the other roms.
